But there is a challenge... My bro just got an S3 and I'm beginning to fall in love with driod... Even though I don't have a clue of how the phone really works... It looks kinda complicated. Now for the past 1week, my bro has been struggling with browsing. His blackberry was stolen 2days after he subscribed for airtel unlimited BIS. He got an S3 and retrieved the line a week after(a microsim ofcourse) and he still has about 1.9G left on the sim. We followed the direction of subscribing for the 10mb daily plan and the phone browsed for that day alone. After that day, it stopped browsing... what do you think is wrong?

Right now the only thing he does with the phone is receive calls, sms, and snap pictures. I know the phone is a superb one and my bro is not utilizing its functions and features. I don't blame him though, he was a blackberry addict like myself(used 5 different BBs within 4years). Can someone pls help us? As I intend getting an S3 from the UK too.

If the phone was browsing then stopped after the bundle expired, what exactly fo you need our help from, sounds like it's between you and your Operator (Airtel). The only thing we can possibly do for you is call Airtel. And that you can do yourself.

Lol! Mate! When you click PDA, browse to where you downloaded the .tar file you want to flash, my advice is that you copy it to your desktop so that it is easier to find, that's what i always do.

Immediately after rooting, backing up of EFS folder should be done if you have intentions of changing rom and possibly odin flashing

Thanks mate Odin Flash will not normally Corrupt EFS tho.

You must be rooted for it to work of course.

And people scared of just rooting their phones. Loool. I can't use an android that's not rooted. Where will I even start from.

Personally, I don't trust mobile ODIN and have never used it! But i know it works, as many people use it. But I don't and I won't

About rooting,
My S2 - Few days after purchase
My S3 - Less than 5 minutes out of the box (Flashed a PRE-Rooted updated .tar Stock ROM)
My S4 - 1 minute out of the box ( LIKE A BOSS! )

Deblow: What is EFS folder and where exactly is it located on the storage?

EFS: All of the Samsung Android devices comes with the EFS folder which is contains 'SPECIFIC' information of the phone like IMEI, product code, etc. So, this EFS folder is very important to make a backup.

EFS folder can be found in the 'MAIN ROOT' of the phone. this is the path /
Lol. Yes, just dat! The main root as I said! Which also means you must be rooted and using a third-party file explorer like Root Explorer (It is a Paid app! And it's My Favorite and the best) or ES File Explorer (FREE App! Very good too).
U can do a quick backup by copying the whole folder and pasting it in ur ExternalSd card, or a safe area in the InternalSd. However, restoring (replacing the files by copy/paste) with this method is not the most reliable, as I have only tested it personally on S3 and Note 2. Not even on S4 (tho it should work). Cheers!

I know triangle away...I've used triangle away...and you should know it doesn't work on all devices.....that's why I didn't mention it.... there's another method on XDA...a little more complicated...guaranteed to work (if you do it right and don't brick your device)...requires the use of a computer tho.....

Its as easy as i wrote mate! Holard07 has fone his, read first few pages to get a basic knowledge of ODIN and stuff...

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTH S3 AND S4
Just make sure you have downloaded the right zip!

Don't go and flash it on AT&T, T-mobile and the rest ohh! Ehen! Only I9300 and I9500. Settings > About Phone. Check to be sure of ur model

Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or check-boxes that are not listed below to touch!

- Download Odin3 v3.04 (Google search)
- Download and unzip the correct zip file for ur phone model (I posted ones for International I9300 and I9500 above already)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3 v3.04
- Click the PDA button, and select '.tar' file
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolumeDown + home + power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button. in this case its VolumeUp button)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT ticked
- Click the 'Start' button
- You will get a 'Pass' message
- Wait for Android to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)

CONGRATS, YOU ARE ROOTED! Cheers!

I rooted my S4 i bought 108K on 4th May, barely 1 minute out of the box , even before it started selling in naija, my Samsung connects got me an S4 2 days before it started selling.
