I watched Russian footage of SU 35 delivering " precision weaponry" that missed target by tens of meters. This was Russian footage. Aircraft did not do jack against ISIS. Hezbollah, Qud force, Iranian supported militias and Russian Special forces did it on the ground. The only effectiveness of SU 35 was against tall buildings harbouring civilians.
Pls where did you get this fiction about interdiction of F22 by SU 35?

Even on Wikipedia, it is admitted that SU 35s were removed from Syria because of faulty electronics.

In any case which country outside Russia is using Russian aircraft day in, day out for months on a campsign?. Pls i want to know. I would also like to know the availability rates, MY TV, MTTR and things like OEM support before we even recommend those outdated hunks for NAF.

It took 16 years to manufacture poverty. It was the end result of PDP regime.

They built a pyramid structure of corruption feeding as much as 70% of people living in the main cities of Lagos, Portharcourt, FCT and a few other state capitals. Not more than 45million people out of 180 million. It was these 45million middle class and lower class in big cities that were dropping crumbs for semi-rural and rural dwellers who were >140million.

Just about 500 people were dispensing patronage from stolen oil and gas resources and petrol importation. The man who started the structure was OBJ who decided to "join them" and "control them" since he could not beat them and Atiku was almost taking power away from him. OBJ could not do third term and had to hand over to a good but ill man and a complete idiot as VP.

Ask this same Ben Bruce, Okonjo Iweala, Donald Duke and others, they are more exposed than most other PDP people, they will admit in private that the GEJ regime was a poverty manufacturer in the medium term even though high oil prices, militancy, prostitution and financial crimes hid everything for a while. The GEJ regime infamously wrecked refineries, did not build new LNG plants, frustrated new refineries, mis-managed new power projects which they later sold at a loss to cronies.
The only thing that worked under GEJ was fuel importation, rice importation, runs girls, 419, cultish and militias.

Nigeria was a factory producing poverty. Everything earns a reward.
Maybe Buhari will make a change from what was status quo with expanding tax bracket, anti corruption, demand stimulating Social Investment, new infrastructure construction, conditional cash transfer, anchor borrowers, refinery revamp, rail development and a new national air carrier. At least there will be jobs, people working will pay taxes, people not workimg will have money to buy products that keep other people in employment while they are being retrained. Nigeria will begin to resemble a normal serious country.

The tucanos for CION and Russian su35 for deep intercessions and air superiority.

The SU35 is expensive, promises a lot, delivers little. It has already failed in Syria against militias and ISIS. The planes that did well in Syria were ordinary L-39ZA and upgraded SU25.

We can argue that the mission was below / mis matched to SU 35 capabilities but when you match it up in a sustained modern conflict against F-35 the SU 35 will again fail. Why?. Because F-35s working in packs are very modern, netcentric, adaptive, intelligent machines and SU 35 is just there to do dogfights and launch in-accurate missiles.

I think there is justification for Nigeria to buy just 3 SU-35 to scare the neighbours but it is an expensive and stupid aircraft to keep in inventory in large numbers. Let us buy refuel-able JF17s, practice with them often then we can achieve equivalent range of power projection at fraction of cost. We then follow up on upgrades from OEM as soon as they are available and try to develop own technologies from there.

No matter how slow the Pakistani line might be, it doesn't make any sense they cannot deliver even 1 aircraft in 3 years.

Apart from a couple areas, the JF-17 is entirely built in China, then shipped to Pakistan for out-fitting.

We are looking at 18 aircrafts then.

There is a big requirement from the PAF for JF17 Block 2s. These guys live everyday to achieve parity with and plug all threat assessment gap areas with India. I think our deliveries were queued behind PAFs.
Again, Nigeria is buying capability not just aircraft so we know pilots and engineers were in training but what is the progress?. We are buying AESA radar with the Block2, what is the progress on training and maintenance skills?. No country has AESA radar capability in West Africa. What of ground and support facilities?. This is F16 level technology, we need preparation.
I am counting on rumours that we will see a partial delivery before December.

Not comparing. The threat assessment seems to be throwing up more requirement for LUH. Even Boko Haram has been degraded below the need for more AH. What we have now are middle belt bandits and occassional BH forays into urban areas which need more nimble cheaper assets

Ara is not operationally fielded on the battlefield.. please. If you see it near the battlefield, they are evaluating and testing it. And for Christ sakes, buying nine (9) vehicles from a local manufacturer is not procurement. No country buys in bits and pieces like that locally if the development has been completed. When Ara is mature and frozen, there will be a new factory or noticeable factory expansion and Proforce would be building hundreds a year.

Let's see how things go, JF-17 been mentioned twice cannot be an error. However i have a problem with budgeting for an aircraft, yet we don't see this aircraft that we keep budgeting for.

Nigeria is completing one batch of 3 aircraft and has started paying for another batch of 3 aircraft. That is what i can surmise from 2015 - 2018 outlay for the JF 17. I think a decision has been taken to buy a full squadron. I suspect a mix of JF17B and JF17 Block 2

I have examined the photos of the Proforce factory and equipment. There are space and tooling limitations. Also, ARA is not frozen in design and development work though at advanced stage is still ongoing. If you see money for Ara in any budget, it is to make a prototype for more testing and refinement.

Nigeria has started hiding defence Capital expenditures under DHQ again. Nice trick.
Another good trick is to look for capital budgeting under NSA office.
I suspect the Nigeria Army Raybirds UAVs ( or whatever) are already in country. They want to buy more this year and next that is why a new "project" sub-head was started.

Very few countries can effectively design and manufacture the main rotary bearing and assembly on a helicopter. Not to mention the balancing, materials, aerodynamics, electronics etc. Each of these need a pre-existing industry with experts. You're just going to build the whole thing "soon". Oh okay.

And about your "missiles"...that must be the most secretive conventional weapons program on planet earth. Even Lockheed Martin & Boeing openly announce when they are working on new conventional weapons, but Nigeria.....hush hush for nothing .

Let me just add that lubrication, balancing and vibration problems on main rotary bearing and assembly of a helicopter would have been the subject of PhD work in universities and industrial research projects going on more than 60 years. The work has not even stopped. When my fellow Nigerians discuss technology i get very irritated.
They are mostly right that Nigeria has all the talent. What they don't realize is the amount of work, organization, team management, money, generations of engineers and dedication involved.

Those four struts carrying the assembly, the mathematics, modelling, computer analyses work alone would be massive. That is why that chopper takes off and lands everyday for the next 30 years with just a few PDMs.

They are already killing the terrorists in the bush. Also there are terrorists on both sides and even the terrorists and militias formed by the farmers will also be killed.

Today's news of installation of a locally made LCD with FLIR in one of our F-7NI aircraft is one of many commendable innovations.

I can with full authority claim that a possibility of a Nigerian made Light Utility Helicopter could soon be achieved.

It is a disgrace that the F7NI was using CRT for HUDin the first place. This is why I always recommend buying western technology. This is why NAF would rather have a US or Eurozone platform over Russian or Chinese.

Also, sorry to burst ypur bubble but you need to be advised that Nigeria is far from a locally made LUH helicopter. Very far. We need at least ten years of work and the right technology management strategies to achieve it.

We need to shortlist about ten technological areas now and start prioritizing areas within those technologies that we will do local development and other areas we will do joint ventures and dome areas we will steal or copy technology.

Technology management is a field and there are suites of managemnent strategies involved that people study in university. It is not just wishing and going out to do. You set up a structure, you set up a policy and you do strategies and implement.
There is a need to set up a body to do all these things.
