CrimeRe: Ibrahim Idris: 'SARS Officials Are Doing A Wonderful Job' by SternProphet: 8:16am On Jul 21, 2018
We don't want to #EndSARS please. Every two-bit local cultist or juju yahoo-yahoo has gone on social media on the #EndSARS craze. RUBBISH.

If SARS is corrupt, it's within the context of the larger Nigeria Police corruption. No sitting Governor will go against SARS. Why should they?. So that kidnappers and child ritualists can take over?. The Nigeria Police needs urgent reforms and quick. We should #ReformSARS and #ReformNigeriaPolice not end SARS.

SARS is too fundamental to proactiveness and quick response to crimes. As for noise makers, there is no Police Force in the world that is popular. It is not a PR job. On streets of major cities in the US, they started this #BlackLivesMatter thing but it has not changed any police tactic one bit. If you are young, keep off crime, dress well, plan and execute strategies for a better future and fxxking leave the police to do their jobs. If anybody extorts money from you, handle it carefully but report it to PCRU or even on social media (not #EndSARS Twitter though).

bidexiii please visit eeben barlow's blog and do a thorough read up on it. as for you dumb 1diot (SternProphet ) who claims to have a high iq but keeps speaking trash, learn to disagree without resorting to insults. how much equipment did eeben barlow, his team and the 72msf have (besides mraps,aa guns and limited air support)when they dealt deadly blows to BH b4 they left in 2015? something is amiss here.
You need to stop thinking effeminately. Every problem is approached from a position of mastery. Cool down, find out what happened, analyse, solve. To reach for PMC just because Boko Harem had a lucky week without even finding out what happened?.

What info do you even have that it was a doctrine or TTTPS problem. What of the big picture. One of the locations hit or was it units ambushed, the men were less than a week in that sector, so maybe just setting up after a rotation.

The Nigerian Army is also having multiple deployments on going. In fact, there are probably more than 100 points of mobilization as we speak on internal and external security.

WHY did air support not come?. Well we know multiple platforms are undergoing PDM and repair at the same time and there are probably air operations in Zamfara, Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa as we speak.

So many factors at squad, batallion, divisional level. Probably inter service planning breakdown issues.

To just blurt out STTEP was very amateurish.

@Nemessis8u; free expression is very good and there should be no fear of being insulted.. but how would you feel if a fellow Indian suggested that you seek help of Pakistani Army to solve a terrorist problem along your border with Afghanistan ...FOR A SECOND TIME !!!!!
Would that be a suggestion or an insult?

I beg to differ oga bidexiii bringing Eeben and his crew back would be what the doctor ordered, but we will have to pay ten times as much if he takes the contract.

What buratai and co need the most is advisory work and of course standing up some more aggressive units such as the mobile strike teams. They just need to select from our existing special force units.

I believe our lawmakers will be more apt to release the purse strings, if they are professionally briefed on the needed strategy and expenditure.
Our military leadership is still fighting a conventional war of numbers and clearing terrain. Which is the WRONG tactics. We are finding out that we cannot out recruit the bhts

It is about FFFF Find, Fix, Flank, Finish. Over and over again.

Intelligence and ISR platforms help us to find and fix the enemy. Then we have to close in or flank in difficult ambush rich terrain.

Here horizontal envelopment with Mobile Strike Teams in appropriate mraps and apcs NOT hilux death traps. This muscular patrols helps troops survive ambushes and fight thru them thereby increasing troop morale.

We should have enough transport helicopters to vertically envelop troops on to the target.

Technology such as drones, ISR platforms night vision equipment would also be needed.

So who protects the chibok and dapchi s of the war zone ?

Please, NA empower the CJTFs with real weapons to take the initiative and clear their own communities. Anything else is just a waste of time and resources. After all, they should be forming the vanguard of nigeria's future community policing.

Any mopol and police in the region should be equipped as regular soldiers i.e. Gun trucks,Gpmgs and RPGs

Our commanders could use advise and mentorship from real counterinsurgency professionals. Regardless of the training the British and Americans are offering.
This is so ANNOYING to read. It is very sad.
This thread is visited and contributed to by more than TEN nationalities I am sure but it takes a Nigerian to think this way.
It is disgraceful.
This is my comparison. Suppose I am working at home and I get brain cloggs and I suddenly forget that 2+ 2 =4. So I tell my wife and educated kid that I am going to see my neighbour to get the answer. Why?., because my neighbour solved a problem for me last week and i think my neighbour has all the answers. This is the weak brained, dunce-thinking I meant in my previous insultive posts. ......My wife has the correct answer. My kid knows the answer.
More importantly, MY problem is not 2 + 2, it is mental exhaustion and I need to go on vacation.

Suppose Eeben Barlow had passed away. Suppose his company got bankrupt. Suppose STTEPP was not in position to offer services, would this problem not be solved.

What is the problem set?. A tactical mistake that was capitalised upon followed by another surprise attack in the confusion.
Have you done after action reviews? Have you carried out internal inquiry.
What about sabotage and moles? .. I am actually very happy that a more professionally matured contributor shrugged off on the "moles" ..they are always around, they will always be around , you manage it proactively and professionally.

So this pedestrian "local" thinking that Barlow is the guy to always run to for an Army over 100 years old, with a university and many institutions and the best trained officer corps in Africa only Nigerians of a certain generation were brought up to think that way and I have contempt for them.

We need technology. We need to guard against over confidence from recent weeks sucesses. We need better situational awareness and articulation /practicalization of battalion level TTTPs developed with Pakistani, Russian, EU help not just Barlow please.

More importantly, as an intelligent person just posted. All you learnt needs to be updated as the enemy is always evolving. So Barlow has to be called upon when Boko Harem changes their methods and get another pyrrhic success ?.
I really don't know where people keep their brains.

What do you even think is happening, do you actually think Boko Harem is recapturing territory ?. Have you even looked at the maps and tried to piece together what happened. I am really sorry for some individuals in my country. It appears basic reasoning ability is absent

This attack was a simple case of carelessness and some internal sabotage. I think there is merit in the tethered drones concept but you still need young corporals and sargeants manning some consoles. That human reliability thing about staying awake is the issue.

u really don't sound intelligent for someone with a high IQ and upper class housewife mentality. i encourage you to read about barlow and his team's achievements. B4 sttep's contract expired, they explained to military /security forces what to expect from the enemy. suicide bombings, ambushes etc. so far, military authorities haven't being able to tackle this issue decisively. 2nd, they (barlow 's team) never went on the offensive alone. they had nigerian troops with them. guys that they trained and got mission ready in less than 3 months. Mr barlow has also stated clearly that African military doctrines were basically copied from the us and European militaries; particulary ww2 doctrines designed to counter the nazis. with such doctrines, how can we actually succeed?the successes recorded by sttep and the 72msf cannot be over emphasized. this war is dragging on for too long,if we don't act decisively now,it'll take decades b4 we can end it.b4 u jump at a comment and vomit bile next time,do understand what the post is about b4 making your comment.
Eeben Barlow came on a training mission, they extended it to a combat mission with some PMC personnel on some limited engagements.
Since the termination of the contract, Nigeria has had massive and accelerated training of thousands of tropps with a Pakistan, Germany, UK and the U.S.

Even without the training the NA had started doing well as at 2014 independent of Barlow.
Boko Haram the enemy is split into two camps, the two separate camps have different ways of operating but the common thing is surprise attacks on civilian populations, sneak attacks on lightly defended military outposts or large scale ambushes where the terrain supports it.
This attack is in the third category. Boko had a good day because of some CO's carelessness.

Now it takes an effeminate mind or low IQ for some one to suggest that an army of 200000, that has 30000 troops deployed in NE and has WON all territories lost to insurgents should run to a PMC of less than 200 men all because the enemy fought back once, killed troops and ran away with equipment.
Maybe you think it is like calling some mechanic to fix your car.
Maybe you think it is normal to have mercenaries operating in your country against local insurgents. Please be educated, It is NOT.
It is WASTEFUL, bad for morale, wrong doctrine and does not solve problems permanently

Maybe you should wait till we have another clueless President like the one we voted out in 2014. This one won't give this job to foreigners.

This event was unfortunate. It was most likely caused by battaliion level mistakes and non usage of surveillance equipment probably related to over confidence and resulting lack of situational awareness.

The army is getting its own helicopters, they are deploying UAVs and other things to prevent re occurrence
Let Barlow rest. The man is old anyhow

The country is not prepared for the global scale technology management and partnering required to run a complex program. They are consigned to be aircraft suppliers tp the thord world for the next two decades.
The countries we expect to gallop forward in aerospace are China, UK, India and to a lesser extent Turkey

Anybody calling for the return of Eeben Barlow has a low IQ problem and the mentality of a middle class housewife.

Call Barlow for what?. Have you even defined the current problem?. Do you even understand the size of area of responsibility we are talking about.

The incident was a sneak attack at a poorly defended temporary base in rainy season and it was to steal weapons. What we need are holding forces while we send more troops to chase Boko. We need more surveillance aircraft. Boko Hiram is 95% defeated but they will stage more of these attacks to show relevance ..and also to provoke such asinine comments about bringing less than 500 mercenaries to defend hundreds of thousands of square kilometres.

It appears you are mixing up anti corruption and not spending money. They are not the same. There is just a slight increase in the budget over the last elections. The other monies are for security agencies to tackle ongoing challenges.
More importantly it is virement. They are moving money around in the same budget. The Senators have to sacrifice their fake / bloated constituency projects for security and elections. Pure and simple

Some of us saw and predicted the hydra head security nightmare facing Nigeria as far back as 1999 when Obj came back to power .
I started blogging about it circa 2012 on beegeagles blog

Be that as it may, PMB is not only to blame
Though he should definitely take the lions share
Lawmakers that played politics delaying the budget and those who opposed the billion dollar spending package also have blood on their hands

Truth is we need upwards of 15 billion dollars to set our security architecture a right

We need to begin by facing our porous border nightmare with smart and crude technologies

Let’s fence our 3 borders am talking fencing, razor wire, helicopter mining and even solar electric fencing
We need drones and motion detectors and 50 plus refurbished and upgraded mi-24s to respond day and night along the borders

More to come
There is no money for all these, although I think we need minimum $5bn capex for defence & security per annum for the next three years. The answer is to retool NSCDC into a more potent static force able to hold ground while the NA and NAF hunt and kill Boko Haram. NA does not have manpower to do both. We need up to 50 choppers but they dont have to be MI 24s. Armed LUHs dispersed at NAF FOBS being constructed are enough. Those LUHs are brand new and cheap unlike used MI 24s that will give maintenance issues. The Super Tucanoes, I see Nigeria buying up to 60 units by 2022.
PoliticsRe: Hadi Sirika And The Return Of Nigeria Airways by SternProphet: 6:02pm On Jul 17, 2018
This Reuben Abati and most spare parts sellers children making comments in this thread are very ignorant.
The National Carrier project is being pushed through with a lot of international consultants and very well established Airlines onboard.

This is more than HadI Sirika and for chest sakes this is not spare parts selling or petrol station business. Nigeria is the most lucrative market for an airline in the third world. The airline will come, it will be a JV and the business will be successful

Nigeria is setting up its national carrier in conjunction with established carriers. The seed money to buy aircraft mentioned is even too small but to sit down somewhere and type on social media that Nigeria should not join the queue for new aircraft when 300 planes are already on the order books of Airbus is mischievious.

We already have the infrastructure for airline take off. Pilots and other staff are employed from the global manpower pool. Aircraft can be leased to start off and the routes are guaranteed already with subsisting air agreements.

Same thing we were saying for years. Sign a management contract with an Indian entity for each Refinery. Give them special commissions on avalability, technical Integrity and low cost of production. This DONALD DUKE is brainy. I am beginning to like him. Private business is just as corrupt and inefficient as public sector in Nigeria. Things are just covered up because of bribery of government officials, tax waivers and monopolies and people think private sector is efficiebt.
If we sell refineries now it will likely go to foreign entities who will look at only their GLOBAL petrol market and sell them for scrap. If you sell to players like Dangote, they are also inefficient and corrupt. Dangote has not managed a fair, competitive, hard brained business in his life. All these guys are softy softy looking for government feeding bottle.
I personally have worked with Indian refinery personnel. They are skilled, hard working and things have not come easy for them so they sacrifice for their jobs.

Contacted management is the best for our refineries, preferably to Indian O & M companies with mix of Indian and fillipino labour.

LUHs are good. No airforce pilot or mechanic who runs rotary wings everyday would not prefer militarized LUH for COIN. They are dead cheap, ~$9m. The versions the NAF are buying are modern versions of aircraft that have been used in the Nigerian oil industry for years.

NAF is buying accurate APKWS kits that can be fitted on these aircraft as part of the Super Tucano deal. NAF will never buy a Chinese AH. The T-129 is a possibility and Nigeria almost bought them it in 2013. What we need now are LUH in numbers and good, accurate ordnance delivery systems then we can resume MI 35M or 28N procurement in 2019

The barrack was never in full control of BHT.

We only need to work more on having situation awareness around military facilities.
There are two guys Salkida and Edward Don Kleirikuzio) who get BHT propaganda and just release it on Twitter without any verification or with just partial verification (i suspect) from some unknown NA officers who are far from the scene. Anyway, Army aviation is now a necessity. We need at least a squadron of choppers in one year.
