So wonder the amount of trouble and money IAF had burn through to ensure 75% peacetime operational availablity of ~230 numbers of Su-30MKI.

I have been campaigning on all platforms against Russian jets usage by third world countries. The support infrastructure is not just there and to make matters worse it is not just engine reliability but overall operational reliability... so avionics, flight controls, landing gear et,c also not reliable or heavily dependent on replacement parts from inefficient Russian supply chain since they don't have global networks of OEMs like for F16s.

Single engine aircraft in this 21st century? To me it is penny wise pounds foolish. What if there is any problem with the single engine, that means the pilot will just ditch the multimillion dollar machine. Twin engine is safer, in aviation you don't trade Safety for anything cos it is disastrous. Just imagine a military aircraft with high explosive having an engine failure the disaster is better imagined.

Engine failure these days are actually predictable. Every component has fatigue life and a MTBF known exactly. You see NAF doing PDMs when the aircraft can still fly, this is to ensure that components nearing their life are replaced. So single engine aircraft are getting more reliable once you do your PDM.

There are also "common cause failures" that happen in a double engine redundancy situation . Fuel system issues will affect both engines at the same time and they both fail and the plane goes down so ..two engines are not helping. To make matters interesting some 2 engine aircraft have single intake so in a bird strike situation you can't sat there is a second engine to help you.

My problem with a light fighter li,e JF17 is range. We need to be able to get inside Chad, Cameroon and Niger. If we buy a squadron we need to start practising aerial refuelling

After 50, you have to be fit to do this. Pot bellies and weak back muscles get in the way

I foresee Buhari winning by a landslide in the coming polls. The West is locked down, North is locked down, parts of Igboland, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers and Delta are flipping. Middle belt states will still deliver at least 40% to APC. I don't see hope for PDP. APGA may win more states than PDP in 2019...and lots of small parties will win reps and senatorial.

These PDP guys don't realise that there is a revolution coming to politics.
