So can I still go ahead or still keep looking for date?.y Lagos deh do like dis na, from Jan 22 to 29. I don't really understand your question but if you want to choose the 12th that is available, you have to cancel your current emergency appointment then create a new regular appointment and pick the 12th |

My visa was delayed last month in Lagos.
However, I updated my profile, choose previously denied and choose Abuja as my next venue.
I requested for an emergency date and it was denied.
Can I still use the same MRV to seek another emergency date and what are the implications.
Thank you all no, you cannot. when is your start date? |

Chonco: Sorry about this. Better luck next time. Try and reapply and take corrections.
What looks like 'mistake' made by you has been pointed out by many here and i encourage you to work work towards taking the necessary corrections.
At the bolded: You didn't even smile but laughed. Some VOs can get provoked. It's just a very simple question and you made it look funny. The VO may think you're trying to play smart and being fake with that laughter. This is almost a general question and it shouldn't be funny. Probably, you may think you're too young to have a child and that's why you had to laugh - it seemed funny to you but it's not.
Take this advice and work on yourself for your next appointment. Come on, 'laughing a bit' isn't enough to deny a fully funded student a visa. Many people have laughed their ways to visa approvals before, especially on this particular question. If he made any mistake, it isn't 'laughing a bit' Or maybe the VO just didn't want to issue the visa |

RemKen: Good day brothers and sisters in the forum, there are changes I intend to make on my DS-160 form but that's not possible after submission. Is it possible as well as OK to fill another DS-160 form and Update my profile with the new DS-160 number after Visa Appointment date (date more than one month from today) has been scheduled? Thanks for always been there.... Yes, retrieve your old ds-160 form, it'll tell you that this form has been submitted and ask if you want to view the confirmation page or create new one from it, select the later option. A new one will be created with many details from the old one and only very few key information that you have to refill. You can as well make changes anywhere on the new one if you want. Make sure you write the new number out and update it on your profile. ps : you can update your ds-160 on your profile as long as it's more than 72 hours to your interview. |

Koskos95: Good Day.. Please I was denied f1 visa and give a 214(b) slip. Please can you help me deduce what was the problem from my visa transcripts.
Vo: Good morning.
Me: Good morning sir.
Vo: where are you going to?
Me: the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue my MS in Civil engineering with a concentration in environmental engineering.
Why this university : I choose this university particularly because of an ongoing research at the university that deals with the production of biogas from the anaerobic degradation of food wastes ... I wanted to continue with what I had to say,but he cut in.
Vo: what other schools did you apply to?
Me : ODU and USC.
Vo: why did you chose this school above ODU.
Me: I choose the University because of its reputability and because the research at the university closely aligns with my research interest.
Vo: what is your research interest?
Me : I told.
Vo: I am sorry, I can't approved your visa what's your total deficit? and who did you specify as sponsor in your ds form? |

Ellamma1: Bsc: 3.47, mass communication. I haven't written any exam I copied this from several threads back. These are the basic steps, you can google other stuff you are still confused about and try and read as many pages of this thread as you can, you'll begin to understand more. Then you can ask specific questions : Having had your major in mind, you'll search for schools , preferably state/public universities around the southern part of the US (living expenses are cheaper down south than north IMO). 4 to 5 schools will be fine just to spread your risk of being admitted. Also let the prospect of getting funded by the school (Graduate Assistantship) be one of the factors to be considered in determining your school. Check out their app requirements in their website. Google is a great resource all through the process. Just a click and you get what you want. Turn in all the required documents. You may be asked to write the gre and toefl to be considered for GA and that's a requirement. Getting GA is competitive so one has to get high scores in it. Some schools may ask for an evaluated transcript, that is changing it from Nigerian standard to US standard. World Education Service (wes ) does that. Once all documents are turned in whether by email or courier or regular mail, the school makes their decision to admit or not. You are contacted after few weeks. Once admitted, most schools ask that you send a financial statement of your sponsor covering an equivalent amount specified for you. You can scan it to them or send it by courier. Once they receive it, they'll issue you your I-20 document and send it to your address. Once you get your I-20, you go ahead and pay SEVIS fee of $350, usually paid abroad, can't be paid from Nigeria. Then you are set for the embassy. Pay the visa fee, fill your DS-160 form online for a student visa (F1), book an appointment and date, get all supporting documents ready, prepare by reading people's transcript on here, pray, and go get your visa. Don't be scared with all the processes lined up here, it's a step at a time thing. Once you are determined, it'll be easy. People are doing this every day. Cheers. |

Ferdinand234: Hey guys. I already made a booking sometime ago and trying to complete my DS 160 now before interview date but its telling me the application cant be retrieved. How do I go about this? That DS 160 number is already on my appointment confirmation slip. most likely you left it unsubmitted for more than 30 days and the system deleted it automatically. Create a new ds160 and update your appointment profile with the new number, then print a new appointment confirmation slip. Remember to fill and submit this one this time. |

Paragontek: My interview was on the 9th of October. I was denied visa. I will share the transcript below.
VO: who is sponsoring your study? Me: I have a graduate research Assistantship. I will be working with Dr. Sey gig on a research, the x of y. Hence, the department is fully funding my study. VO: I can see 50% Graduate Assistantship here. That's strange. I have not seen such before. Me: (I tried to explain) the 50% is just saying I have 50% full time employment. Also from the I-20, there is no deficit there.
Please, what do you think could be the reason? I have mailed my school and they have updated my I-20, removing the 50% there. (that's actually how the school write full funding for students, I confirmed from others). Secondly, do I need to get a letter from the school to explain why they updated my I-20?
Also, is the reason on the yellow paper same for everybody, is it generic?
Thank you. I feel the reason is your i-20 that said 50% . The vo felt you were lying. If it has been updated then you will get the visa next time. Yeah, get the letter if you can |

Theslumflower: Thank you so much, that was of great help. But they couldn't answer my second question which is, if I happen to take any of those exams without getting admitted to any school, does it mean I can still make use of same result when applying subsequent years without necessarily rewriting it? Or I have to rewrite it every year as I apply?
Thank you. they all have their own different validity. TOEFL is 2 years, gre I think is 5 years. Just google, you'll see more info on all. |
