🤠

So because a University Chemistry Department is looking for foreign applicants because of low population of students and offers scholarships to attracts them means that applying to such school guarantees visa ? Or a Nigerian who graduated from Economics or Linguistics dpt should apply to such school all because of the scholarships ? That is the gospel of deceit you are preaching to upcoming F1 VISA apllicants.

1. You guys usually spoil their VISA success foundations by misleading them from the admission process.

2. Scholarships and fundings is not a visa determinant. Its only compulsory for Phd applicants but despite that why are 75% of Phd F1 VISA applicants gets refusal despite fundings huh? Because they must satisfy THE MAIN F-1 VISA REQUIREMENTS.

3. Scholarships and fundings only helps your family in the area of Proof of Funds. It does not Guarantees VISA.
I don't know who you are, what nonsense or group you are talking about, nor do I wish to engage you.

Good day everyone,

So I initially asked this question but I’m not sure I was clear enough , so I’m here again . So I’m a 23 year old I’ll be 24 in December , I graduated from university here in Nigeria with computer science in 2021 and i currently hold an IT role . Fast forward to this year so I applied to a school in Texas for a bachelors in Computer science as well with part scholarship and my Sponsor can very much cover my COA . My interview is coming up in July but my question is will it be a red flag on my path have that my previous bachelors degree was in computer science and I’m going for another bachelors in computer science . Please I would really appreciate every opinion I can get on this . It’s been giving me anxiety lately. Thanks in advance .
You'll have better chances going for a graduate degree. Since you're 23 and already have a bachelors

Hi.
It's not true stop misleading people. If there is pls help your friend to post the legit sources or 're u just talking of hand ? Wia is the embassy website or links dat says receiving fundings contributes towards ur visa ?

Phd fundings is the most relevant to the US Consulate 'n despite dat majority of them still gets visa denial if they cannot meet other visa requirements.

Majority of institutions esp private re spoiling the relevant of fundings because they gave it out unnecessary in order to attract int-students n US consulates re aware.

Do ya wanna hear ? The US consulates now based your student prowess and rate u as an outstanding student thru ur waec, transcripts and cgpa. Consulate does not trust gre, gmat, toefl and fundings again because they re being compromised.

Fundings n scholarship does not add to your visa success . Meeting study visa requirements is wat gives u visa. Show me the link wia fundings or scholarship is part of US visa requirements? I'm waiting 4 ur reply ? Cheers.
You are probably new to this process. I've been on and off this thread since 2019 and have read hundreds of transcripts. Reading back through previous threads and reading past transcripts will show you enough evidence of this, even VOs commending funding offers during interviews.
You ask for sources but provide no sources for your own claims.

Of course they are not gonna post that on their website. Nigeria student approval rate is very low. They adjust their criteria based on country. Are you saying all those students being denied do not meet student visa requirements?

Funding and low cost of attendance help a lot because getting a very good scholarship or assistantship is one of the biggest proofs of your brilliance as a student. Of course you have to meet other requirements as well.

Like the other guy also said, I'm not saying it's impossible without good funding. But that helps a lot.

People that wanna take the message will take it.

Okies post the sources of your statistics for everybody to see. I am waiting 🙄.
If you cannot post the sources u 're a big liar who shud stop generalising base on what u think. Cheers.
What he's saying is totally true. Funding is one of the biggest factors in you getting your visa. It helps prove you are a legit brilliant student and that you won't have difficulties paying your tuition.
Of course there are cases of students getting their visa approved without funding. But if you have been following this thread for a while, you should recognize the general trend in visa interviews: good funding and low cost of attendance = higher approval rate.

Thank you so much! Do the schools there require an exam to be taken before applying?
Hi. It depends on the school. Some schools will require GRE or TOEFL or both. Some schools will not require any.
What you can do is use a site like webometrics and check out schools in US and visit their websites to see their requirements. Also check specific requirements for your department.

Hello everyone, can anyone please recommend universities that have low tuition fees? I want to apply for a Masters Program, but I don't know which state to focus on.

Also, is there any ongoing scholarship application at the moment?

Thank you.
Kansas, Arkansas, Ohio, Mississippi, Kentucky, Louisiana, Indiana are all relatively affordable states.

You can try if you have the funds and time. But truth is: A Canada ban will probably be shared with the US as well. The 2 countries are close and share a lot of info.

1. Is there a thread for potential graduate students? If yes can someone share the link.

2. I will like to do WES evaluation and need some insight from those who have evaluated their credentials.

Thanks in advance
This is the right thread for potential graduates.

For WES, you can search on here. There are threads talking about it and also numerous posts on this thread about it.

It looks like you need to build your profile further along those 10 criteria. Look at those criteria, check those you can build quickly within few years and work towards them.

You can pursue OPT, H1b for now while building your profile towards NIW or even EB1A.

This is perfectly normal. Many people spend years to build the profile and I think you are on right track there.
Alright. I appreciate

Do you have publication from your Masters
- is your publication in top tier journals (or at least Scopus listed)
- did you present at a highly regarded conf and was your paper peer-reviewed

- did your computing work or part thereof lead to an innovation (or innovation of some sort)
- Did you have a patent application or was your work cited in a patent application (whether by the patent applicant or mandated by the patent body)
Thanks.

Nice and informative thread.
I'm going to have my masters in CS by December. I have just a year(part-time) work experience however.
Is the EB-2(NIW) likely for me at this point, or is working with OPT and trying to get H1-B the better option?

2. And Please ooo If you edit your ds-160 and add the new conf code to your cgi portal, will they be able to find out anything about the old one you edited ??
Not advisable to lie about your siblings in the US.

You can edit your ds form and update the code in your profile. They only care about the current one not the old ones.

If you got an admission without a funding and have submitted same in the DS-160 and later got another admission from another school with funding. Is it possible to retrieve the submit DS-160 and change the school as well as the SEVIS no?
see this
PS it's from last year, so there might be few differences.

Stevenssen:
First of all get your i-20 from the new school. Then,

For your ds-160 :
Retrieve your old ds-160 form, it'll tell you that this form has been submitted and ask if you want to view the confirmation page or create new one from it, select the later option. A new one will be created with many details from the old one and only very few key information that you have to refill. You can as well make changes anywhere on the new one if you want.
Make sure you write the new number out and update it on your profile.
ps : you can update your ds-160 on your profile as long as it's more than 72 hours to your interview.

For your Sevis fee : go to fmjfee dot com . Check your i901 status, then from there you'll see an option to transfer to a new school.

Also remember to update the necessary details on your visa appointment profile.

How many times can someone reschedule on one appointment profile??
Don't reschedule. If they won't work on that day, they'd give you another date themselves.

Please I need someone's opinion on this.

Five of my siblings are in the USA. One of them is presently an assistant professor in the school I'm going to for my MA. In fact, she lectures in the same department I'm going for and she's the graduate coordinator. I have funding (graduate assistantship). I am married with kids and I won't be going with them.

These are my concerns:

1. How to prove to the VO that I will return upon graduation, considering the fact that I have siblings who didn't return upon their graduations. They are working.

2. How to answer the questions about how I got to know the school, the course, and how I was able to get the funding. I suspect they will feel my sis helped me.

Please someone should help me.
It might actually not be a bad thing that your siblings all finished their educations before moving on to other stuff. What you might have been worried about is if they all quit school and got married.
Your sister being a lecturer is a plus for you. About why you chose the school, just say that she sends you some of her materials and works and you are eager to research with her.
(You should probably read some of her works also, if you haven't. You might be asked about it.)

All the best

Guys please, I know USA is not Nigeria, but is there no chance at all that I can be admitted into masters programs with a 2.6 gpa, that set 3.0 or 2.7 as their requirement? I really want to study something I enjoy and would build a career in, so I wish to get in. My 2.6 undergrad CGPA is completely as a result of the Nigerian system, as I was getting E and Fs for courses with content as stupid as "define mood' and name ways to commit suicide, but I can't explain that to an Oyinbo school... please how do I go about this? I'm prepping for the GRE, but I hear that cannot even help the case, if a required gpa has been stated. Please what do I do?

I wish to get into the Ms.Cardiovascular Technology or Audiology or Exercise Physiology or Occupational Therapy...or even Public Health...something that could put me in a hospital setting..I need help
It's possible. Evaluate your transcript with Wes. Converting it to 4.0 scale with their system may boost your gpa. Also your gre and recommendation letters and research experience also help if your gpa is low.

A friend of mine needs an urgent advice. Is it possible to use a school to get visa and go to another one on getting to US? both schools have different resumption dates and they're also in different states.

Your response will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Yes it's possible to do that in US. But try and do it before both programs start. And I think you also have to meet the DSO in your initial school. Google for more info
