hello trust you doing good please I have a quick question
The part where one is asked have you been denied a us visa before and you click yes
It then opens a box that says explain
Is one meant to explain the reason he thinks he was denied or just that he was denied based on 214b ??
You can just state that you were denied under section 214b

Me: Good morning sir.
V.O: why are you going to the United state?
Me; to obtain my bachelor's degree in biological science.
V.O: good, which university?
Me: I'm going to Tennessee technological university.
V.O who is sponsoring you?
Me: I'm been sponsored by employment, after I finished secondary school i have been eorking with them.
V:O he ask red what year you left secondary school.
Me; 2015.
V.O: he checked my i20 he saw family funds in my i20. But you said your sponsor are your employer what happened. That's how my muttering started o.

V.O he handed me the green slips. Which indicate no strong ties and what have said previously. What is your take in these. Should I ask the school to send new I20 indicating my employers name and I should reapply for new date since my school is resuming by August. Pls suggestions and advice pls
That's what went wrong.
Did you use family sponsor to get your i-20? why didn't you use them for your interview?

Pls help!!!
I want to fill this part for my business. I own a security consulting firm and I want to fill this column for business certification like CAC but I couldn’t enter anything coz of the notification. If I click RETURN TO REVIEW it won’t let me fill and if I chose NO CONTINUE TO FORM it will direct my to my previous work experience and I won’t see this column of business certificates/degrees again.
Does this matter if I don’t fill the business certificate part?
I think if it directs you to your previous work experience, you can keep clicking next and you will get to this part eventually.

Nicerazor:

While going to the embassy do I go with CAC registration, Company profile as proofs to the VO?
It probably won't matter but go with it.

Hello guys, i went for my interview yesterday and got rejected. Will post transcript soon. But for some background.

I am applying to the for masters in information systems and specializing in business analytics. No funding 43,000 sponsored by my mother with a surplus of this available balance in her account. I have a good travel history. Been to USA 2x as an adult, and travelled to over 7 countries, 4 outside africa, never stayed more than a month, schooled in Ghana, mom has always been sponsoring me. And owns her business.

When i went for the intervew,
the VO asked if i have a relative there
I honestly told him yes, because i have visited him during my first travel there.

He went as a student there and during his opt he got married and has a kid. And only visited nigeria twice for the wedding and to see the family. And he works with Tesla.

Surprisingly the VO was really drilling me why he didn't return after his studies, and that "if he didn't return what is the assurance i would?", I was honestly nervous at this point because i didnt expect that type of question.

He also drilled about financing the masters which i feel my mother can and will pay as she sponsored my sister to also do her masters in canada with no issues and my mother has enough savings to sponsor me for a year.

I was told i didnt qualify and was given a yellow paper stating the reason. Which talked about ties to return but when he told me i didn't qualify i believe i heard for financial reasons.

To be honest i got really nervous when he started really probing about my brother even tho he is there LEGALLY. What do you guys feel?

I want to reapply because i feel i can defend my reasons, what do you guys feel? Any advice?
Interviews are really subjective most of the time. Another VO may not even ask about your brother while another may look as the fact that your brother successfully completed his studies and is in good standing as a good thing.
You have a very good profile. Yeah, you should reapply.

CC TWoods , Stevenssen and every other knowledgeable sir/ma Please while filling my ds160 I have been holding the same employment since 2017 till date
I am at the point of present employment which I imputed my present employment start date as 2017

The other page takes me to previous employment if I am correct my answer should be “no” since I haven’t changed my employer since 2017 right ??
If that's the only employment you've had since 2016, then you are correct.

Visa denied in Lagos Today
Please scrutinize

First time, First denial
COA: $24k

VO: Good day, please pass your document: I passed it on

VO: So you're going to Liberty University for a Masters in Psychology:
Me: Yes

VO: How did you know about the school

Me: Through a colleague at work: I work for a big organization and my work is computer science related:

VO: How does this course fit into what you're doing
Me: To be honest, I couldn't defend it so well

VO: He reiterated: You're doing computer science-related work at bleep, how Psychology
Me: My answer didn't seem clear and cogent to him

VO: How many schools did you apply to
Me: 2

VO: Were you accepted?
Me: yes

Now, this school gave me admission in Computer science. I chose Psychology because the admission came out first.

VO: Who is sponsoring the trip
Me: My Brother

VO: What does he do
Me: He works as a manager for an Oil serving company in Norway

VO: How much does he earn
Me: about $4k

VO: Typing..... I am sorry, you do not qualify for a visa at this time

Planing on going again with my Computer science admission and more compelling answers

Please advise

1. You are working in Computer Science and going for a Masters in Psychology. Why do you need the degree? Your current job and the degree you are going for couldn't be more different. Put yourself in the VO's shoes, how would you react to this?
Also, it is never good to volunteer unnecessary information at your interview. There was really no need to mention that your work is Computer Science related, It all started going downhill from there. Why not just say "Through a colleague at work" ?

2. You applied for 2 very unrelated courses. I wonder why. If you are going for a grad degree, make sure you studied something related in your undergrad and that you are also working in a related field where that degree will actually be helpful to you. If you studied something unrelated in undergrad then it is still okay as long as you are working in a field related closely to the degree you are going for.

You need to restrategize and prepare better.

What profile do we update this on after updating something on the ds160 please?

Also, after trying this system you suggested, does anything change on the new ds 160 that I need to update on my profile?

Lastly, what would I change on my appointment page?

Please advise.

Sure. The new ds 160 is a new one that will be created from the original, you can make any change you want once you create it.

Change the ds 160 on your appointment to the new one.

Good afternoon.

Please how can I effect a change or delete an already submitted DS-160 form. I just received a better offer in another school and wish to take that to the embassy.

Please note that the SEVIS and the visa fees have been paid and appointment has been secured at the embassy.

I will appreciate contributions from everyone.

Cc: Twoods
Walsprings
All the seniors

First of all get your i-20 from the new school. Then,

For your ds-160 :
Retrieve your old ds-160 form, it'll tell you that this form has been submitted and ask if you want to view the confirmation page or create new one from it, select the later option. A new one will be created with many details from the old one and only very few key information that you have to refill. You can as well make changes anywhere on the new one if you want.
Make sure you write the new number out and update it on your profile.
ps : you can update your ds-160 on your profile as long as it's more than 72 hours to your interview.

For your Sevis fee : go to fmjfee dot com . Check your i901 status, then from there you'll see an option to transfer to a new school.

Also remember to update the necessary details on your visa appointment profile.

EDIT : I don't actually know if you can update those details on your profile.
I remember trying to change my zip code to a new school after booking appointment and I couldn't. Thankfully it didn't affect my visa interview.
But yours are bigger and more important details, so it might be different in your case. Not certain.

Note that I have rescheduled once which means if I cancel that’s another MRV fee
Or can I ?

hello sir I have a quick question someone who applied to Canadian schools and USA schools in total making 12/13 schools when asked how many schools did you apply too
Is it advisable to say the 13 schools both in Canada or USA or just mention the ones in USA
It's really up to you.
But my advice would be to include the Canadian schools cos it will show you are not just looking to go to the US.
Also, the more schools you apply to, the better your profile sounds.

Please can 1 apply for Canada student visa and US visa at thesame time. I have got full PhD in both places and will like to go with my wife. I know it is easy to get US visa while Canada is a bit tough and time-consuming.

Please I need your advice.
EffectEn:
I don't know how possible it is to apply for both. From my previous gathering, the Canadian process requires you submit your documents (including passport) for a period of time - sometimes stretching up to 3 months. This is May already, if you apply today and your passport is kept for two months, that may affect your US intentions.

All the best

You only submit your passport if you go through the paper route. If you apply online, you don't have to submit your passport.
He can apply for both.

These schools do not require any evaluation from you. The first 14 schools here, I am sure they will let you apply with your unofficial transcript then send the official one later. Current available dates for Abuja starts from September 3rd, 2021 and no dates for Lagos. Please do we have any idea (from experience) if better dates are still going to show for both posts or should we expect it to continue into the future?
Dates will most definitely show up. We are still in April.
This virus situation was worse ending of last year for us that went for interview for spring 2021 and most people were still able to get dates and visa.

Last year, embassies did not even know how to reopen safely. Now it's a whole lot better. The embassy is talking about going back to normal operations. So if you don't have a good date yet, I say don't panic about it. We were able to get through months ago when things were worse.

It doesn't really matter. He can do either first. He can pay the visa fee, book an appointment and fill his ds form later. You can. It's fine to do so. It's always advisable to use a statement as recent as you can get. 1-2 weeks old is perfect but there's nothing wrong with a month old statement too.

Is it too early to start applying for fall 2022
You mean applying to the schools? Yes it's too early. Schools won't even be accepting fall 2022 applications now. What you can do if you haven't is prepare ahead of time. Write exams, send transcript to Wes (if you are evaluating), start mailing GCs about funding and professors about RA. Get your references ready so that recommendation letters won't be a problem when the time comes.
Then around September, you can start applying to the schools.

Do you have a source for this? maybe on their website or something, because I called their help desk yesterday and what they told me is that everyone gets only 1 emergency appointment request.
Some people get one, some get two. I don't know why that happens but if you are lucky, you might get two chances at it.

Heyjessay:
Hello everyone,

First time here and I'm having a bit of an issue with my visa appointment date. I have all the required documents, the start date on my I20 is for August ending (this year) and I picked the closest available date which was for January 2022.... Ha!

I went through their website and the only solution is to book an emergency appointment (which I do not qualify for because it is not within 60 days of my program start date), and I do not want to wait until June ending to book emergency appointment, because it might be harder to get it then and I also want to start making travel arrangements now, because if I wait, my accommodation and flight ticket would be more expensive.

Any advice?
I am also 100% certain that new dates will come up soon so don't worry about it. Most applicants for Fall will start going for their interviews by next month ending

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I trust we all are having a good day

Please i need help, i just went through my 2 letters of rejection i have with me and i discovered i have only had same issues: we find you eligible under section 214b. Which is strong home ties.
I am trying to apply again, i dont know how to actually prove to the VO that i am going to return and i have a home tie.
Please any one that can suggest what to do so as to prove this to the VO.
I really want to get it right this time
I will appreciate all the contribution i can possibly get.
Thanks
In addition to what the person above said, note that 'ineligible under section 214b' is a generic refusal reason given to almost everyone. So even if you go to the embassy and keep mute during your entire interview, you'll still get the 'home ties' rejection reason.

Prepare well for your next interview, hope for the best. On the day you'll be approved, the VO might not even ask you a single question about your home ties.

All the best.

Try changing sim cards. I think this problem occurs often on one of these : Mtn or Airtel. If you're using Mtn, switch to Airtel and vise versa.

If none of that works, download a vpn app from your app store. Look for any free vpn, there are lots. Launch the VPN and set it to a country eg US or UK or Germany.

Go back to your ds form. If the first step doesn't work for you, the second step will easily solve the problem.

All the best.
