Interesting developments.
But this also means that if you do not get your visa approved to travel to Canada and complete the rest, you won't be eligible for PGWP.

South Africa have tested over 350k samples with only less than 15k cases and 238 death. I'm not sure this is about testing capacity. There is something alien going on in Africa that even WHO does not understand.
There are many things that could be in our favour : Young population, Vitamin D + Sunlight exposure, previous vaccine histories.

If you've been paying attention to anything I've ever said you will see my chain of reasoning. The US is still arguing about reopening. Some little states are beginning to see spikes in cases and deaths. Schools are planning on reopening but are still saying "we will do so if it's safe"

US evacuated it's citizens from different countries of the world. Who will reopen the embassies? US citizens. Where are thus US citizens? They all ran back to the comfort of their homeland. When will the embassy reopen? Undefined. How likely will DHS believe other countries are safe to send their citizens to reopen the embassies? No one knows when

How will international students gets visa to resume by fall? No one knows except some nairaland e-warriors that also doubles as DHS officials.

lol
Now you're backtracking .
My opinion has always been that the only problem there is the embassies and that depends on the other countries and how they are managing the crisis, not on the US.

The part of your post that I challenged is about something entirely different.

Incase you haven't checked, Australia has 6964 cases and 97 related deaths, New Zealand has 1497 and 21 deaths. When you have over 1.3million cases and 82,000 related deaths your priorities changes
What about UK? 30k + dead and borders still open.
The truth is, Covid cases and deaths in the US do not have any effect on international students coming in. The two things do not relate in any way.

The effect it would have had was universities refusing to reopen In fall but many of them are planning to reopen.
So how will international students coming in change US priorities? Is it going to make them start dying more or what? If anything, it's only going to help their universities

Who needs international students now more than ever when their citizens and economy is dying? Believe whatever you like, it won't change the truth. World economy is in recession, people will lose their jobs like never before. There will be less money to spend and international students won't have thousands of dollars to spend like before. Every player in the game know this fact already. Your optimism won't change it either.

No one cares about your international money in a pandemic
You're making general statements. Australia and New Zealand care about that money and are letting international students in.
If your economy is dying, that means less funds for the universities and that means international students become more important.

Am not here to exchange words or call names. No one is saying people should cancel their dream of schooling abroad, all am saying is that there is a 95% chance that there won't be international students in the US come fall semester so guys should think plan B. The wise ones are already doing so, the overly optimistic ones that like to hear only what they want to hear are still dreaming of embassy reopening, successful visa interview and Trumpland in fall.

The world economy is in shambles. International students in the US are dreaming of applying for economic hardship to survive. DHS knows this and they also know that it would be extremely difficult for international students to spend tens of thousands of dollars in tuition and other expenses right now.

Summer semester is entirely online. Schools don't even know if they will have fall semester, if it will be online or how many seats will be taken out of classes if they decide to do physical classes. All this factors have not been decided for fall semester which is 3 months away. Schools were the first institution to shut down due to Covid 19 and they will likely be the last to open up

The POTUS is screaming open the economy, states are doing whatever they like, city mayors are going against their state governors and people are scared to go back to work even if they reopen.

The US death rate is almost at 80,000. Florida might open their beaches. Nevada that has similar economy like Florida is not even talking about reopening. There is talk of a worse hit second wave in fall and you think they will be want to accommodate international student as early as fall. I laugh in swahili

It's easy to say "things are getting better", what aspect is exactly getting better?
Lol many schools have already confirmed they will open for the fall. In fact most of them will, but will place a lot of measures.

As for people coming in, you think the US borders will be closed till next year? That's unrealistic.
Lockdowns were only enacted cos countries wanted to control the virus, US haven't been able to do that and activities are already opening up. UK didn't even close their borders at all, they only introduced quarantine for incoming travelers two days ago.

As I said before, the only problem is when embassies will reopen. Those with their visas already will probably be able to travel to US for the fall semester. Embassies remain closed cos most countries are under some sort of lockdown and have restricted movement.

Even while you try to be optimistic also try to be reasonable.

The press secretary to the US vice president tested positive to Covid 19 last Friday. Panic is high once again. Borders remain closed. Lots of temporary visitors are stuck in the US with no viable way of leaving. Lots of H1B and OPT workers that recently lost their jobs will become illegal by July if something miraculous doesn't happen between now and then and you think what the DHS is thinking right now is how to send their citizens to African countries to reopen their embassies and conduct visa interviews for potential fall semester students and bring them to the country without a vaccine

Please tamper your optimism with actual reality. The impact of Covid 19 is bigger than what you see on the surface
People coming in isn't the problem, visitors to a country can always undergo a compulsory and monitored two weeks quarantine once they arrive.
Australia and New Zealand have the strictest border restrictions during this pandemic and they have confirmed they will open their borders for international students to enter. UK have also introduced the two week quarantine.

The problem is embassies reopening and when they decide to do so.

Wait till when would the embassy contact her? How does she reach them ? this is scary indeed. Would she be rescheduled?
They will contact her when they reopen and give her a new date. US embassies are closed worldwide because of this pandemic.
So we all wait, hopefully everything will be back to normal before June.

My wife did ssce 2005 and finished her first degree(B.sc)in 2012.

She has been offered addmision for her second degree (B.sc) in Canada.

Please kindly advice, should she put in her application to go for the Second B.sc degree which she has been offered admission for or she should just apply for masters program instead?

Thanks
she should apply for Masters. It'll be almost impossible for her to get a visa going for Bsc

I got an admission to study Systems Engineering at the University of Regina

I will be 30 years by December 2020.

What are my chances of getting a visa considering my age? The program is an undergraduate program.

Is payment of acceptance fee a requirement for visa approval?

Also, can I use a statement of account of someone who does not bear the same surname with me? Will this not hinder my chances of getting a visa?

Thank you.
30 years going for undergrad has a very low chance of getting approved. CIC will be expecting you to be going for a Masters or PGD/PGC.

Parent or family sponsors are always the best.
In your case, your sponsor should pay your acceptance fee and part of your tuition then you present evidence of that to show his commitment to sponsoring you.

Hello everyone

I am new to this platform. I have just been admitted and will soon apply for my study permit in Canada.

I will like to confirm if the Canadian embassy will ask the school that gave me admission the application documents I used. Or is it just the acceptance letter and the documents I'll attach that the embassy will use in making a decision?
They might ask if they want, nobody knows for sure.
Why?

Good evening all,
Please I need your advise
For a first time applicant, Is LOE needed or just SOP? A I read LOE is needed for returning applicants.

SCENARIO
• Company A- An international Labour Supplier like an HR company that provides and manages workers to different companies
• Company B-Is the company assigned to from company A to render services to.
If LOE is not needed how or where does an applicant explain/ mention the following,

1--Employed by company A (Labour supplier) and assigned to work company B
2-Salary is paid by the 2 companies as per company arrangement. (Company A pays 70% while company B pays 30%, to make total of complete salary which is mentioned in the employment letter of company A).Both provide payslips.

3-Where should letter of introduction be gotten from? Company A or Company B. Direct Manager AND supervisor from Company B is accessible to provide letter.

Lastly, please who/how should the SOP be addressed ?To who?
You do not need LOE as a first time applicant.

You should get your letter of introduction from company A, if possible from both of them. Make sure to show evidence of the pay slips.

You do not need to address your SOP to anybody. Just title it 'Statement of purpose'

Hey Guys do you y’all think the recent epidemic could delay fall entrance?
It's a pandemic now.
There is time to get it under control. China controlled theirs in about 2 months so hopefully by fall, cases will be declining worldwide.

Chill, you’re doing well wink. Most schools decisions will start coming in from this week till the last week in March. Don’t let tension kill you.
I applied in October and only got one decision in January, two last week and still waiting for the last one

Please is it really a bad idea to apply to a community college and not write any exams? Waiting for a response, thanks.
It's a bad idea applying to a community college that doesn't even need a transcript from you.
Why not apply to a university instead?

I want to appreciate everyone here for keeping this thread going. A quick question please :

If i get a one (1) year masters degree admission. What are the chances of getting a PR after graduation?

PS: i already made some findings online but not too sure as the results were contradicting, hence the reason for asking this in this platform 'cos we've got knowledgeable and experienced minds on here.
The chances aren't that good for one year programs. The best thing to do is to take another one year program when you're done with the first one.

It depends on the reasons. If the usual generic reasons, then you don't need LOE. But be sure to indicate that you have been denied before.
