CodeineJunkiee: IFOD offers courses mainly on dispatch operations. It's easy to deduce that from the meaning of their acronym (Institute of flight operations and dispatch) , you can't enroll for a pilot training there.
You can Google them up for more concise info I know the school. They have affiliated schools that offers Pilot training. Ofcourse you won't see that on their website. |
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by Stewee(m): 1:19pm On Aug 16, 2014 |
CodeineJunkiee: It not, infact it's a very good school too. I applied into IFOD for same flight dispatcher course tho I'm not thru with my visa arrangements (i-20 form and SEVIS payments). I think IFOD is quite the cheapest around with a good track record. Someone in the aviation industry referred me to the school, also heard their pass rate is high.
One doesn't want to spend so much only for one to flunk the course. Was just trying to see if you can change your mind and come to IFOD Best of luck tho IFOD seems to be a good school. I know 3 people who went there for dispatch courses. But i'm of the opinion that they ain't so good in Pilot training. |

bigfrancis21: My brother, don't be discouraged already before going to the embassy. An unemployed friend of mine from college visited US recently. He just graduated recently and just entered camp few days ago, these guys that just entered camp recently. He came here and returned.
Usually being a young unemployed male is a reason to deny because these people have a long history since decades ago of young unemployed Nigerian males who swore on their late grandmothers during the interview to return but till today are still enjoying in obodo oyibo. But there are often exceptions. Once you have strong evidence of strong ties to Nigeria, you should get your visa. LMAO @ Late grandmothers. |

Rubywoo: Hello everyone.Got my visa approved at the Abuja Embassy this morning. It was surprising to know interviews were granted on Saturdays too.
First of all I want to thank God Almighty, the God of my Father Bishop David Oyedepo, and all my Pastors under Him, this is indeed strange act of God for which I am grateful.
And thanks to everyone on this forum, your experiences, personal help and mails were really helpful. You all are amazing people.
As is the custom in my local Church, I went for pastoral prayers concerning the interview a few days before (it NEVER fails).
So my appointment was for 8:30 this morning. I got to the embassy at about 7:50am and we were called in at about 8:30am.
We did all the needful blah blah blah and I waited my turn.
I was called in by the nice looking lady in the 8th cubicle, and we exchanged pleasantries’ don’t remember who greeted who first.
VO: so what school are you going?
Me: I tell her.
VO: Have you travelled out of the country before (I was a little taken aback by this question, I didn’t expect it)
Me: Yes
Vo: Where?
Me: I told her
Vo: So you were there for four years
(I can’t really remember how dis part of the interview went, but it was something around these lines)
Me: No 6 years, I was there for 6 years.
VO: Do you have a master’s degree already?
Me: No. I am a doctor; I spent 6 years there getting a medical degree.
(Maybe because of my age she thought I went for a master’s degree)
Vo: OK, what are you going for?
Me: I’m going for a master’s degree in public health
Vo: What would this degree do for you?
Me: Well currently I work as a physician in a government hospital, and most of our patients are really poor people and inspite of the fact that the bills are cheap, they still cant afford what we ask them to pay. So I want to change my approach to patient care. I want to come from a preventive point of view so that I can reach more poor people and teach them to prevent the diseases rather than come and cant afford treatments.
(I don’t think I was this eloquent but this was the general idea I gave her, and I seemed to have been going on and on lol! She looked really interested, and let me keep talking. This is what really happens at my working place and I am truly passionate about this so I guess my passion came forth for me)
VO: So who is sponsoring you?
Me: My uncle
Vo: What does he do?
Me: He is the CEO of blah blah blah and blah blah blah company.
VO: let me have your account statements
I hand it over to her, and she goes thru it for a while and hands it back to me with my I-20 and the white paper saying something. I wasn’t listening anymore.
The reason I emphasize that its all God is that 1.I didn’t write any standardized exam: No TOEFL, no GRE and it wasn’t asked.
2. I didn’t have an extension letter from the school and she told me to come for my passport on the day which is the deadline date for me by the school to get into the US, as stated on my I-20.
Special Thanks to Streetmic, Idazbwaz, Joenice, Ashigolo, Goldenchic (My very personal paddy of life.) and to everyone.
May God bless all your beautiful hearts. And for those who were delayed and those still going for interviews, May the God of heaven show you all favour.
Bless. Congratulations!!! God never fails. |

dahfweshdude69: sorry for posting my travel experience this late. i've been busy exploring my school. I left lagos on the 25th of july via emirates around 8;50pm. It was very interesting(my first time in a plane), i sat beside the window and got scared at first but later summoned up the courage to look outside. I got to dubai in the morning and i decided to walk round the airport .It was magnificent, compared to mma, it looked like paradise. I met a married couple who were also going to texas, we took pictures together and they were very friendly, they also bought food for me. We left dubai that same morning for texas and the journey was very long and boring. The peeps beside me missed their flight so i was alone. You will be given an immigration form where you must declare everything you have on you once you are on board and en route the united states. We got to houston in the afternoon by 4pm and went straight to claim my luggage, on getting there, emirates forgot my smaller box which contained just food stuffs at dubai, ijust had to go through immigration like that. The immigration line was just 2 long and while waiting i spoke with a dude whose connecting flight will take off by 5:45pm and we were still far behind and that was around 5:15pm. Cut long story short,he missed his flight(if you are booking a connecting flight, make sure you leave at least 4hrs interval between your arrival time and time your connecting flight will take off). It finally got to my turn and i was interviewed by a chinese dude. He took my finger print(both left and right hand), eye scanning stuff then he asked for my passport and placed my passport in a machine to verify if it was authentic. He went through it and asked for my i-20,admission letter and sevis receipt paper. He looked at it for some secs and asked me how i got to know about the school and why i picked it .I told him ets recommended the school to me after my toefl result came out and after searching about the school, i decided to apply and i was given admission. He then stamped my passport and showed me a place in my i20 that i should tell head of international department to sign once i get to school. Going through customs wasn't hard, just took off my belt, shoe and wristwatch, passed through a body scanner and was told to go and bigger box and handbag were also scanned. Saw my aunt waiting for me already. I left texas on the 28 of july for Oklahoma and my school official was waiting for me at the airport. I got to my school, registered and enrolled for classes, got my id card and was told i won't be needing a placement test, i had a good SAT score(advantage of taking SAT exam even though it wasn't needed for admission). Enjoying life in oklahoma!
Am not really a good writer, it may be boring but please pardon me. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. Nice! We thank God for a safe trip. Have a wonderful stay. Stay Safe!!! |
