babaolofin:It seems you don't understand. The guy proposing the law is also claiming "Lagos is Yorubaland" ! That is not true at all, Yoruba are no different from other migrants in Lagos ! This begs the question: who does the speaker identify as indigenous to Lagos? And the answers seems to be "every Yoruba". Now how an ethnic champion managed to get to that position baffles me. Actual indigenous people of Lagos are tired of the apparent colonization of their land by the Yoruba. Lagos is not a "no man's land" and Lagos is not "Yorubaland" ! Ethnic bigots should never get to these kinds of positions, they will only start a civil war! |
Yoruba see Lagos as a big bag of cash, that is why you will see them everywhere claiming Lagos belongs to them. Most of them don't know the first thing about Lagos. They just have some fairytales about Lagos and confuse that with reality. |
FreedomfromtheT:Wrong! Yoruba are migrants to Lagos. Yoruba is not even a homogeneous group, it is made up of many ethnicities who agreed to carry the yoruba tag upon themselves. The name Yoruba actually comes from yarr.iba which is the first name under which oyo kingdom was written down. Over the years, many groups of people including slave returnees from America took the tag upon themselves. As I already said, the demography of Lagos has been changing drastically since the British took it over from Benin empire/kingdom. Heavy migration into Lagos took place under the British and in the colonial era, and it is still going on. Lagos has a population of 20 million people, the actual indigenous people of Lagos are nowhere near 20 million. What I don't understand is when some migrants (Yoruba) try to hijack Lagos and claim they are the indigenous people of Lagos ! That is a lie, they are migrants like the haussa and the Igbo and the guys from Benin Republic... |
Christistruth03:So it is true because it is written somewhere in the internet? How old are you ? I believe a child should think better then you. |
T8ksy:You tell me and provide evidence. The fact you think that you can just guess people's past with accuracy blows my mind. You guys basically believe that you can perform the work of archeologists and historians without the doctorate degree, nor the tools, nor the sponsorship nor the necessary years to study the topic. I guess egyptologist should come and learn from you. When people are as uneducated as you guys and still think they belong in a discussion with adults, it gets really painful to watch. |
Next we will start talking about kpatakpata names or naira names or Victoria names of kings... 🤡 |
How these guys just fabricate stories is beyond me. I really have a hard time understanding Yoruba revisionists and their madness. No part of you people's discussion follows the laws of logic. "Praise names" 😂🤡 the tricks you play on low iq people don't work on me. |
Christistruth03:I do not recognize anything like "praise names", that is an invention of you yarri.ba fanatics who keep trying to distort history. By the way "Ovbi" is the same as "Obi" as in "Obi of Onitcha", it doesn't mean "son", it is a kingship/dukedom title. You guys are just crazy. Please take your meds. Each year you act with even less sense. |
Christistruth03:"Praise name" ![]() I asked for proof and you are talking about "praise names" ![]() "Ovbi’ Adimila" I've never heard of this rubbish, how is this from my mouth ?You are yet to establish oduduwa ever existed, instead you are just throwing in new notions such as "praise names" and "adimila" who you claim is oduduwa ? Can you have a rational discussion? Can you prove that oduduwa existed or is it just smokescreens ? What type of madness is in you ? |
muhammaduyusufu:Show proof oduduwa or oranmiyan existed, stubborn kid who refuses to learn. |
Christistruth03:Compulsive liar, do you care to show your proof ? Reality check: 1) Benin was already an empire in the 1400's whereas Ife was nowhere on the maps in that period of time. 2) The Oba of Benin was witnessed ruling over his empire from Benin city in the 1400's whereas the Oni of Ife was only witnessed around the late 1800's if I recall and he was ruling a small priestdom called ifa. 3) claiming Benin monarchy is from Ife is the same as claiming a 50 year old is the son of a 15 year old. |
Stubborn kid, go and get yourself educated instead of trolling online |
Lagos needs to be liberated, and it will be, it's only a matter of time. |
muhammaduyusufu: I'm clearly talking to children here. With you guys one has to constantly repeat himself. Do me a favour and educate yourself without my help, I've spent too many years educating your ungrateful elders on nairaland. |
muhammaduyusufu:Oranmiyan never existed. The previous Oba of Benin (I guess you don't even know his name) didn't in anywzy pay any hommage to aderemi and it is only one "o" in Oni. A visit is not the same as paying "hommage", but you guys do this all the time whenever the Oba of Benin visits (you lose your minds). Funny us Edo don't give a dime when the Oni of Ife visits. |
Christistruth03:The egbas are a bunch of runaway slaves who established their settlement Abeokuta in the 1830's. You don't know a single thing about history. The Jebu were vassals of Benin. I didn't notice it was you I was talking to, you are a compulsive liar, you already know what I told you but you repeat your lies anyway. |
Christistruth03:What year was that? Provide evidence or admit you are a liar. |
Raskimonojendor:Lagos was part of Benin empire/kingdom. Then the British took it away from Benin by force and flooded it with slaves from America and from Africa. Those slaves now identify themselves as "yoruba". Your speaker is an ignoramus.
|
tsdarkside:If you look at the history of Nigeria, you will notice that some locals fought against colonization and were destroyed whereas some were accomplices with the colonizers and were rewarded. Those accomplices don't have the same view on the colonizers as we do ! They praise the British for colonization and worship the British, they've always been like that. I don't see them changing anytime soon. |
helinues:Acting crazy as a way to not acknowledge your total lack of knowledge of something you spend so much time talking about, incredible strategy. |
helinues:You know there were lots of literate people in the region, right ? You know they wrote notes, right ? You know those notes are still available today, right ? You guys who spend your time spilling ethnic propaganda, you just lack basic education. You know nothing about nothing. |
ExudeLoveToAll:It is the shallow mindedness of the yarr.iba fanatic. Their ancestors came from Brazil (they were slaves there) and since then they invented stories of how they descend from magical skydiving oduduwa. These guys have no sense at all |
helinues:Who did the British take Lagos from ? |
tsdarkside:When tinubu won the election, which country did he go to ? That will tell you the mental slavery Nigerians (especially Yoruba) have, they need white validation more than crackheads need crack. |
helinues:Lagos is not and never has been "Yorubaland". Yoruba are migrants to Lagos, just like the hzussz and Igbo |
ExudeLoveToAll:Don't pay attention to these low lives. They are uneducated and don't count for nothing in real life. All they can do is spill their ignorance online. |
T8ksy:Show proof or say loudly that you are telling lies. |
T8ksy:Perhaps Lagos? |
Tiopii:The 350000 reservists are available (they've been retrained for almost a year) but have not joined battlefield troops yet or have done so only recently. |
Tiopii:In a direct war between NATO and Russia (+possibly China, North Korea, Iran) whomever wins will have less than 300 people left to celebrate the victory and they will all die of cancer within the next two years. |
Themandator:You quoted Newsweek 🤣 You might as well quote a paper called "USA/NATO/Ukraine propaganda". I didn't notice it were you I was replying. I think I already established that you are a kid with an underdeveloped brain. I won't answer your deluded comments anymore. |
Themandator:Sometimes it feels like you guys are children, so you are quoting Google links ? And your links are even outdated! For your information, Wagner took over Bakhmout weeks after the links which you quote were made. Wagner is no longer in bakhmout, it gave it over to the Russian military. |
