I must really say I commend these men for their show of maturity. I cannot categorically say if this is any indication that this duo are set for a reunion but what I can tell you is that for us yesterday at the reception, It was a reminder of what a beautiful relationship used to be. The Duo performed 'Mr Endowed' 'Suddenly' and 'Fall in Love' to the excitement of the crowd. I am sure the emotional people in the crowd cried sha.... Here is a pic I took myself of D'banj and Don Jazzy performing.

It was really nice seeing them perform yesterday.... If you see how everyone was screaming eh ? The euphoria is unimaginable!!! Kudos to these matured guys!

LEGENDARY Musician Sir Victor Uwaifo is 73 today. For most of our young ones who don't know Sir Victor Uwaifo, Ask your parents and they will tell you he was Africa's biggest music export at his time, bringing so much glory to His county as early as the early 60s. A 'first' at everything he does, this man at 73 is still as fit as a 35 year old man. He still jogs, does his regular weightlifting, and still has the energy on stage as he had in his early years. Below is a brief profile I just culled from Wikipedia about him. The man Victor Uwaifo is a Nigerian musician, writer, sculptor, and musical instrument inventor, born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria in 1941. He is famous for his joromi music. He records under the name Sir Victor Uwaifo. His best-known song, "Guitar Boy and Mamiwater" was a huge hit in 1966. It was inspired by an encounter (which he has long maintained actually occurred) with a mami wata (mermaid) while lounging on Bar Beach in Lagos. He also served as commissioner for arts and culture in Edo State under the government of Lucky Igbinedion. Education Uwaifo obtained his secondary school education at the Western Boys' High School Benin and St Gregory's College, Lagos, in the years 1957–1961. He studied graphics at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos and graduated with distinction in 1961–1963. He received a bachelor's degree first class honors and a master's degree from the University of Benin in 1994, where he studied fine and applied arts and majored in sculpture. Musical career Early in his career, Victor Uwaifo was a member of Bobby Benson's Highlife band. Uwaifo made history in Nigeria when he won the first Golden record in Nigeria, West Africa and Africa (presented by Philips, West Africa) for his song "Joromi" in 1966. Victor Uwaifo, who has a total of 12 golden records to date, has traveled to many countries, including the United States, Russia, Japan, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, France, Hungary, Rome, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Togo, Benin Republic and others. Joromi His song Joromi has legendary status among his fans and his performances are characterized by his ability to play the guitar with both his feet and also his tongue. It might also interest you to note that the song was premiered on BBC Radio, the same day it was released and still gets played till today as one of the greatest hits out of Nigeria. National Recognition The Federal Government of Nigeria, in appreciation of his talents and contributions to Nigeria honored him with a National Honors Merit in 1983 by then President Shehu Shagari, which reads in part " ... whereas you have been nominated and appointed as Member of the Order of the Niger to have and hold and enjoy the privileges of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of the said Order, MON." Uwaifo was the first professional musician in Nigeria to receive such an award. He is a Justice of the Peace and has served in many capacities. Uwaifo was also appointed as the Honorable Commissioner of Arts, Culture and Tourism and Member of the State Executive Council, the highest policy-making decision body in Edo State, 2001–2003. Appointed as Justice of Peace (JP) Public Notary and Lay Magistrate, Sir Victor Uwaifo was honored by four Nigerian Presidents: He was awarded the National Honors of Nigeria (MON) He was invited to the State House by four Presidents and Head of States of Nigeria International recognition In 1995, he was invited by the United Nations Staff Day International Committee to perform during the UN Golden Jubilee celebration. Uwaifo is cited in the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 1983 edition, documented in the "Who's Who in Nigeria", "Who's Who in Africa", "Who's Who in the Commonwealth", and "Men and Women of Distinction in the Commonwealth" sections. He is an Honorary Member of the Biographical Advisory Council, Cambridge, England, a member of both the Performing Right Society, and of the Advisory Board of American Heritage University, California, U.S.A. Also note that "Sir" attached to his name is not from the catholic Church. He is actually a Queen's Knight. Businesses Uwaifo is the Chairman of Joromi Organization, a multi-track recording and television studio in Benin-City. He runs and manages an art gallery and the Victor Uwaifo Hall of Fame. Personal life Uwaifo's hobbies include swimming, bodybuilding, gaming, reading and writing. He is a Christian, and married with children. His song Alex "Andre Vibez" Uwaifio is also a musician/producer who has produced for notable Nigerian A-List artistes. His Daughter Idusogie is also a former Beauty Queen, Winning the Miss Edo pageant. He also is a Professor at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Benin, Benin City.

oyb: download all the wayBro, are you telling me that is enough reason for you to download someone's creativity for free? If you have issues with FAKE CDs and I am sure a lot more people do, maybe that is a business opportunity for you. Why not go into the sales or ORIGINAL CDs and most def, people who require quality will patronize you |
This is a very important post. I think its high time started buying the albums/singles either in hard copy or digital format. These guys put in a lot of creativity and money into their craft. Its only fair we show them the support. For example, an upcoming artiste who doesn't have a record Label to support him can use proceeds off the sale of his singles, no matter how small to sustain his career before his "big break" comes and he is signed by a major label. This is what happens abroad. Even an "upcoming" artiste should live well at least. There is a big divide of financial strength btw the upcoming and A-list. Who knows how many good talents we have lost cos they could not pay for studio sessions and stuff. 10 naira is not too much to pay for the download of a single. Please, LET THE MUSIC PAY!!! |
My elder brother applied for a non immigrant visa in November. I was waiting for him outside there under that tree. 5mins he went in, he was out... Was given 2years. Said the VO no even ask am any thing, just ask am where him dey go and what him dey go do dia... Pere... Na so she collect him passport. All the many documents plus medical report wey him do, dem no even ask for am! The nigga dey US now dey jollificate. Na that day I conclude say Yankee visa na luck! |
Did some of you read "she had donors"?? |
Ok... I donno know if I am proud to say this but I have got to know from my friends in Asaba those days that the BOLAJI guy who was killed and the other guy who was arrested who I now know is a guys also that I know very well called nwabueze (Aka Tsetse-fly) were my classmates in secondary school, we finished in 2001. (To save the dignity of my sch I won't mention the name). Those boys have always been bad from secondary school days. Tsetse-fly was quite intelligent though at that time but am not sure he went on to university cos of the stupid things like cultism he/they got into. Those guys have no fvcking business with Okonjo's subsidy money. They just wanted Christmas money as they always do, selling peoples lands in asaba and ish. Okonjo... You have found your mother and just praise God. Don't try to play politics with it. If you claim you know them, then expose them and they will also face charges of kidnapping and attempted murder. Am just sorry for the parents of the boys! |
Nigerians are very ignorant sha... I cannot say if Timi Dakolo was supposed to be in that flight or not though but to ask who knows Timi Dakolo for him to be close to most of these politicians, I pity your ignorance! If you must know, Timi Dakolo is one of the closest musicians to the government and why is that, because of the kind of music he does which rakes in for him nothing less that 2 million naira per performance... And like you know, Government does one function or the other every week so do the maths. Even the recent awards that was held in Abuja recently, After Sir Victor Uwaifo who was the special guest performer, the headliner for that event was TIMI DAKOLO. So he doesn't need to do a club banger like davido and wizkid to "Blow".. Him don blow him own way and if him na sharp guy, he go don dey see some kain small small contract. Now on the crash, There is a possibility he could have been on the craft. Remember it happened in his own state and also he can have the opportunity to travel with those people if there was space on the helicopter. We no dey there to know how many sitter. If the man says God saved him... Follow am thank G but if him dey lie, leave God to judge him noni... Nuff said! |
Na wa oh... Train no dey, we complain... Train don come now we still dey complain, some even dey ask who go enter the train... I don tire for my country people. Just what exactly can be done to please you peep? Haaaaaaa |
Please is it $20K or $200K for P-square? I know why I dey ask. 200K na 32Million o.... Even US artistes don't cost that much.... Let's not mislead people. I don't know how much P-square was offered but I Know it will be no where near $200k |
This is commendable... Countries like UAE and Qatar had things like this and that's what translated to what we see in those countries. I am only worried if the plan will been seen thru eventually after this government leaves. But aint nothing wrong with this. |
Naeto C is not new with this kind of mess... I remember sometime last year, something like this happened in Benin where Naeto C was billed to perform. The young man was paid full, lodged in a hotel and yet, he said he'd not perform until he was given his flight money back home. All pleas fell on deaf ears as even comedian I Go Save offered him 50k on th spot and the man still refused. Anxious fans were outside waiting o. Naeto no gree come out... Na so show finish. Trust Benin boys na... Na I'm dem brush am small and made him pay the money before he left...Later he started using his mum's connections with the army to hunt the organizers... So if this story happened, not surprised!! |
The last time I remembered kneeling and raising my hands like this was in my Junior secondary... Na wa o ![]() |
I was at that fvcking embassy last 2weeks. Took my mum there for her visa since she wanted to go see go see my elder bro whose wife just gave birth. The fuckers deny her the thing o. So now I know why.. so when dem ask am who she know for US, make she deny her son abi? Na wa for Yankee sha... |
As a media person, one of the core qualities you must possess is being objective at all times, never being biased and being factual in all reports and also more. I have listened to a couple of his shows. Freeze is arrogant and we know that and he is already taking sides with d'banj which he has the right to do as an individual but when on air, that bias should be dropped. So in that aspect, Freeze failed. Just like someone said. If Don jazzy decides to put a ban of all his materials from playing on cool FM, that's bad for cool fm, but I guess their competition will smile about that. Sha sha, na them know. But wait o, we don know say the guy be like this since na? Abi na becos na him and our beloved Don Jazzy get the wahala? |
This man no well sha... If you wan issue statement to disassociate your leader from the purported press release by Boko boys, why don't you just quietly do so instead of leaving the matter on ground and start accusing PEE DEE PEE Except ofcos, your oga get something to hide Na wa oo... Which kian press secretary be this![]() |
Who are you to say the award lacks credibility? Yea, BeatFM is good and popular definitely because their programmes are more "youthcentric". But when you talk about presentation, it goes beyond speaking americana. As a trained Media person, both in print and broadcast, I can tell you that beatfm lacks a lot. They have very little content, their shows are VERY stereotype and just as someone posted, they probably didn't submit their entries on time because of people like you who make them feel like the "galadima" of Radio in Nigeria, hence they must be there by default Mr. Globe: |
Ewooo... No BeatFM, upon all their noise wey dem dey make as if na them sabi pass... I can see that their ratings no even high then, going by this list. But there is this boy in BeatFM though. Osi or so... The guy dey try well well |
