NNPC is headed by who again?? The oil-producing region has always supported the North presidential candidate and when they voted for GEJ he did nothing beyond stealing their local resource. The state minister of petroleum resources is from the SS and that has been the case for the past 8 years under Buhari. Under GEJ, Diezani Alison-Madueke was the minister for 6 years. |

You do not know the level of traffic being experienced by Lagosians on a daily basis. This is some level of relief and it is a welcomed development. People can quickly get from point A to B, without much hassle.
Isn't it beautiful that your flight arrives Lagos, and you just walk out of the airport, straight to the train station and you're on your way, hassle free, traffic free? Do you know how much time people spend in traffic to, say the Island, from the airport? It cuts down all of that stress. It is a deliberate and strategic move, towards reducing the amount of traffic time, which in turn would increase productivity. It should be commended.
You can do better, look for other posts, not this one.
If we see truth, make we try dey talk am. The system is not working if someone is controlling it, Tinubu had some positives when he took on the OBJ dictatorship but over the years he has been involved in state capture and supporting hopeless leaders like Buhari. It's time to go. |

SMH, I think Economics should be made compulsory for everybody and every courses up to university level.
In a lay man explanation. When there are too much money in circulation or when there is a perceived inflation, government regulatory body increases interest rates to banks and bank increase interest rates to customers which reduces customer borrowing from banks and hence reduce money in circulation and reduces inflation.
On the other hand. When there are lesser money in circulation, govt reduces interest rates to banks and bank also reduce to loan borrowers to encourage loans.
In economics, it's explained in terms of bonds Who is printing too much money aka Ways and means? |

This is a terrorist mindset What a stupid statement. Nigeria is already divided by ethnicity. Nigeria is a country, a regional expression. The nation called Nigeria doesn't exist. Does country mean nation? There is a difference between the terms nation, state, and country, even though the words are often used interchangeably. Country and State are synonymous terms that both apply to self-governing political entities. A nation, however, is a group of people who share the same culture but do not have sovereignty. What is wrong with tribalism? Nigeria has only existed for 106 years ( 1914 to 2022), while we have been tribal for thousands of years. We need to accept our differences |

FreeStuffsNG: I know interpreting this is too difficult to understand for the lazy youth who idles away on the social media 24/7 from January to december to make a career in jesting and entertainment, this inflation is not caused by the Federal Govt and if you can just quit your idleness and live a productive lifesfyle, this temporary high inflation locally and globally can be a blessing for you to earn more.
The basket does not have all the goods and services in the country and some of the composite items like energy-related costs, school needs etc maybe temporary price increases I am not a lazy youth, so please educate this learned middle age man on how Nigeria happen to have very high inflation, especially when the main cause of inflation in many other countries is due to the high cost of food and energy which Nigeria has in abundant. Inflation rises in Nigeria amid fuel scarcity and insecurity.
The hike in inflation means the purchasing power of Nigerians, some of whom live on a monthly minimum wage of less than $50, is declining. Inflation in Africa’s most populous country soared to 16.8 percent in April, driven by fuel price increases and accelerating costs for food,
including bread and cereals, newly released data from Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown.
Annual food inflation rose to 18.4 percent from 17.2 percent in March, sending the headline rate to 16.8 percent, the highest in eight months, according to the data released on Monday.

Quintopia: What a load of ignorant rubbish.
Every nation will BEG to have a business environment that guarantees swift profits for investors.
I'm actually an economist by training, so I can school you all day on this if required.
In the west, 80% of new businesses fail in the first 3 years, mostly due to cash flow issues and the exorbitant cost of running a business.
Is that what you're recommending for Nigeria? Businesses in Nigeria pay bills and taxes, and even provide their own back-up power supply, water etc. YET ARE STILL PROFITABLE IN NO TIME AT ALL.
The reason they are profitable is not because of any ''dysfunction'' in society. It's a simple issue of demand and supply, a huge buying market and the relative absence of monopolies. Olodo, you said you live in the West for decades, yet you learnt nothing. The reason why Nigeria generate no electricity and has poor infrastructure is that the country is very unproductive due to the lack of revenues to fund infrastructures and corrupt government. Nigeria’s revenue to GDP ratio lowest in the world, says World Bank https://www.thecable.ng/nigerias-revenue-to-gdp-ratio-lowest-in-the-world-says-world-bank |

In Nigeria you can wake up tomorrow and start a full-blown business, and become your own boss.
Within a short period period you're employing people!
I mean, this is something you just cannot do in the USA or UK. Their business environment is locked in to the elite class there, and is hugged and sewn up by those who were there before you. Another ignorant Nigerian. A society where you can set up a business and be in profit in a short time is a dysfunctional society without a foundation. Paying bills and tax is the reason why a country has infrastructures to sustain development. |
