from my good knowledge of nigeria aviation wat is happening at virgin nigeria basically boils down to poor business planning by the people that started the carrier, the lack of will of the investors(both local and international) to commit much funds and the fact they hope too much on government advantage. you can't blame obasanjo instead praise him for the reforms in the aviation sector becos after virgin came in more people were willing to invest much more in the sector, like arik and the heavy reinvestment by aero, but ironocally that is what hurt virgin. virgin be wan make im papa fight im mate for am, they no serious

dear forumite this is an issue am passionate about, education in nigeria, the ever increasing standard, the ever depriciating quality and the un realitic education plan we have. we are using very old statistics in this country when it comes to education, for example the issue of education disadvantaged state. in nigeria of today what we have educational areas that is in all states or regions they are areas that are doing well educationally(usually urban area) and areas that have almost non existance primary education structure(usually rural/semi rural). last year i served in ondo state near ekiti border(so i usually travelled across) the education in these to states that were well ahead before is now at a patectic state i thought ss2 students who could not speak english(official lang. for education) and could not copy note i had to copy on the black board for them(forget dictating, only about 5 of my about 280 could take notes dictated). children parents came to beg for me to pass them which i refused, and i saw teachers freshly out of colleges of education that am sure couldn't pass exams that the set. and i got similar reports from my friends that served across the country from imo(where most students were girls), biu where student tried to bribe my pastor friend to pass their test (lol) and bayelsa where they were paid to come to school and did come(but they collected money). when my mum asked me what i learnt from service(i did want to teach, but my mum told me just to endure for one year and sge paid me for natioanal service, because she really believe in this nigerian dream) i told her i discovered is a highly illiterate society heading for great social upheavel.

abu mariam and auwal, i understand ur concerns for ur people after reading the beginning of this tread i said i would not respond but 2 information made me change that decision. i met a corper currently serving in jos north and he recollected his tale how the men of nigeria army served him from death. when the crisis started he said he put on his uniform thinking he would be left out being a corp member(when i served in ondo during 2007 election and its' aftermath when ever the thugs wanted to fight they told us if we must go out to wear our uniform so we would be left out, and i told this guy this when i came back), he was caught by a crowd of hausa youth along with five people and and made to lay flat on he floor he was number four from the side of the role they started their killings, they said an incantation b4 they killed each person,but when there where about to kill the 3rd guy the army guys arrived and open fire on the killer that was how he was saved, after their first community development meeting last week 12 corper are still unaccounted for,

note i don't think any of us here is happy to see dead children, but children are responsibility of their parents, and their parents security responsibilities lies in hand of the government, so if hamas the (party or group) gov. in charge of gaza takes critical decisions without thinking of the possible outcome of it decision then it means it is responsible,(just the way i and majority of people feel sashkasvili messed up last august). now the same thing applies to israel as a nation its has the responsibility to protect its citizens it close those borders(and still hamas could fire those missles, imagine if they were open what they be using on israel), becos of their security responsibilities to its citizens and after 8 years of enduring those missle strike they acted, now lagos boy what do you think israel should have done, open the border(with closed borders they were already firing missles), reported to UN(UN has never solved any crisis the best they do is to sweep it under the carpet, e.g darfur, zimbabwe, kenya,and on and on and on, ), or just ignore gaza till they get nuclear weapon, note am note supporting anybody here if u were in israel shoe what would u do, lagosboy?

debosky, its true that its money they are considering, but if they are properly educated they would know that it is cheaper to use a helmet than to lose ur life or be stuck at igbobi for unneccessary long period that u be more productive with.

olanijam nice point u are 1 of the persons that is not writing from a sentimental view even though i have different view from u i respect ur views too. musa i never justify israel government actions but as much as they are responsible for the children death, hamas also bears responsibility. there were provoking israel(whether they had the right to or not is another debate) but they should have had a back up plan for israel respond, and they actually do, the media they had been banking all this while that israel will kill children and women so they get public sympathy.hamas do not really care about those palestain children as much as i or you do so as you chastise israel chastise hamas too, i no fit shout

well as much as i hate okada it is still a neccessity in phc. i live in abuja but i've been in phc for the last 2 week on hols. phc does not have the road network to support cabs usage economically. in abuja i enter cabs(drop) for a distance like woji to waterline for 200 naira but in phc i would have to pay close to 1000 naira just becos i pay for the drivers time in hold up. what amechi should have done for now was to keep the bikes of the main arteries of the city e.g aba road, east/west road et al and allow bike to act as feeders to the major busstop to this route. this decision is just going to make the traffic suitation much worse, cause more individual are going to put their personal cars on the road and some of the bike guys too would swicth to cabbing
