The controversial multi-millionaire Man city footballer, Mario Balotelli has a job to take care of not less than 10 people in his family but instead he left his biological mum working as a cleaner at an office block. Rose (Balotelli’s mum), 36 makes a living cleaning at a car leasing company doing evening shifts and she earns £6 per hour. Rose who gave Mario up for adoption to the wealthy Balotelli a long time ago is reported that she now lives in a house used to shoot movies about people living on dole in council houses. Mario we were told has visited his mum 3 times at her house. Why is Mario’s mum still working shifts as a cleaner when her biological son is making millions of Naira every week. Hmmmm this is really hard to conclude, could it be that Mario is still mad at his mum for giving him out to the Balotellis? This is a question for Balotelli to answer

There was pandemonium on Wednesday at Murtala Muhammed Way, Yaba after some soldiers allegedly attacked policemen attached to the Lagos State special security outfit, the Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit. It was learnt that the soldiers used bottles and stones to attack the task force officials. They were also said to have punctured two tyres of the Black Maria belonging to the unit with knives. According to eyewitnesses, trouble started when the task force officials, who were on patrol, accosted the driver of a commercial bus for obstructing traffic flow. However, a soldier who was sitting in the bus snatched the key from the driver to prevent the officials from taking the bus away. After few minutes of heated arguments, the soldier was said to have called for assistance from an army base not far from the scene of the trouble. Within minutes, many soldiers trooped out from the base and began to throw stones and other objects at the task force officials. Some of the soldiers were said to have gone to the Black Maria brought by the task force and deflated two of its tyres. An eyewitness said comments from the soldiers suggested that they were also angry with way Governor Babatunde Fashola treated a Colonel, who drove on BRT lane on Tuesday. As the situation tensed up, the task force officials also called for help to match the number of soldiers attacking them. The crisis was allegedly escalated by a Lieutenant-Colonel who arrived on the scene and ordered the soldiers to bundle some of the task force officials into the barracks. Calm was, however, restored when a senior task force official intervened and led his men away from the area without arresting the driver. Task Force Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman, confirmed the attack. He said, “It as an affront on the state government because the soldiers vandalised government vehicle. “The attack was uncalled for as those task force officials were on legitimate duty.” He added that he would be reporting the attack to higher authorities in the state. But the spokesman for 81 Division, Lt. Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, said he was not aware of the incident. He said, “I don’t think such thing was reported and except it is reported, there is no way I will know.” The spokesman for the state police command, Ms. Ngozi Braide, said, “I heard about the incident, but I have yet to been fully briefed on it. |

Kaduna residents are asking the government to restore calm in the city after Sunday’s bombing and reprisals led to the imposition of a 24-hour curfew. Many residents of the violence-prone city, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone on Thursday said they were running out of essential commodities such as food, fuel and recharge cards. Mr. James Dauda, a resident of Tirkania area, said he and his family of three had exhausted the food left in their house. He said, “My brother, it is a very serious situation. None of us can step out of the house because of the curfew, even if you can, you cannot get to any bank to get money, for those who even have money no food to buy.” Mrs. Antonia Audu, a housewife was trapped in Angwan Television area. She said, “If you have money you can buy food here but it’s expensive. “A loaf of bread, which was about N200 is now N500, when you see it. A cup of rice also costs twice what it used to be. “To make phone calls, we rely on friends and family members outside Kaduna to send us recharge cards. “We still have light to charge phones here but people in other areas rely on generators.” A journalist with a national daily who pleaded anonymity for fear of bringing his medium to disrepute, expressed his frustration when he said he felt abandoned. He said, “My company has not sent any help, not even a recharge card but they expect stories every day. “I have exhausted the one I have. And because there is no light, I use a generator; I can’t buy fuel. “The Internet subscription on my personal modem has expired and there is no cyber café, it’s terrible.” Meanwhile, heavy military and police presence is reported in many parts of the city. Fears of renewed fighting to a large extent contributed to making most residents remain indoors but for families who earn their living on a daily basis, their situation is better imagined. |

Embattled lawmaker, Farouk Lawan, has finally promised to surrender the $500,000 bribe to the Special Task Force before the end of the week following serious psychological and physical pressures mounted on him by investigators. It was learnt that Lawan succumbed to the pressure mounted him by the STF Commissioner of Police, Ali Ahmodu, on Wednesday and agreed to bring the money which he was said to have received from Femi Otedola on April 24, 2012. He was said to have told investigators that he would only surrender the money before witnesses which would include his lawyers, Mike Ozhekome (SAN) and Israel Olorundare. Boniface Emenalo had been asked to report on Friday, but it could not be ascertained if he would surrender his share of the bribe on that day. Sources told our correspondent that Lawan cracked when he was confronted with the letter from the Chairman, Committee on Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Adams Jagaba, who denied knowledge of the money. “When subjected to intense pressure by CP Ahmadu, Lawan finally cracked and said he was tired of the drama and stories surrounding the matter. In an agitated tone, he said he will bring the money before weekend on the condition that there would be witnesses there: this is the breakthrough investigators needed to conclude the case,” a source said. Jagaba, had in a letter to the Speaker, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, on Tuesday denied that he was in possession of the money. He stated, “I wish to categorically and unequivocally state that there was never a time I was in possession of the sum of $620,000 or any other exhibit (in my personal capacity or official capacity as Chairman, House Committee on Drugs/Narcotics and Financial Crimes).” Lawan had last week claimed that he had handed over the money to Jagaba. http://www.punchng.com/news/lawan-promises-to-surrender-n93m-bribe/ |
