When people compare obaseki and ambode you guys really need to be fair. Obaseki is fighting oshiomole with chemical warfare, nuclear missiles while you guys expected ambode to fight asiwaju with sticks and stones. First of all obaseki, his deputy, ssg and most of his cabinet members stood with him. 18 local government chairmen and 10 house of assembly members are also with him. The former apc chairman oyegun and the apc governors forum came out to show support on behalf of obaseki. Ambode's predicament happened during the general elections when other governors were either going for re-election or trying to install a successor, so most of them were pre-occupied. Ambode's deputy, ssg and most cabinet members abandoned him. 1 house of assembly member and 2 lcda chairman not recognized by Abuja stood with him. As an average resident of edo state, I don't have enough information to decide whether Obaseki is worth supporting or not. For all we know the reason Oshiomhole might be chasing him out is because he refused to do several things that would benefit the people while in office.

Anyway Whether Obaseki and Shuaibu comes back or not will change nothing for me. Soldier go soldier come, barrack remain. If the person Oshiomhole brought to succeed him 2016 was not Obaseki, we would have still voted for him.

Obaseki leaving is not something for me to fret about. And Oshiomhole establishing himself as the political godfather in Edo state might not necessarily be a bad thing. If someone like him with a track record of being a man of the people becomes someone the sitting governors cannot disobey, he might compel them to excellent performance. That said, there is the power of media propaganda which has not been sufficiently deployed by the PDP even at the national level or even the state level. The APC used this (with Lai Mohammed was talking almost everyday) against the PDP in the buildup to the 2015 elections. PDP had no response as they had no skillful propagandist to counter the APC. Now, I expect the PDP to deploy heavy media machinery through local TV stations (ITV, NTA and EBS), Observer, markets, town hall meetings, bill boards and even drape their campaign materials on God is Good buses, Libra Motors, Efex, Comrade Buses and other transport companies. Now is the time to also start mobilizing campaign materials to the grassroots and empower key people that would swing the elections. Edo South brings more than 64.3% of the votes. So the PDP needs to secure Edo Central and Edo North and significantly split the votes in Edo South.

Does PDP have the financial muscle to do this? This is where Obaseki comes in.
