I think that's what I should do. Each time he calls, my Blood pressure will just rise even before I pick the call. I've lost my peace already. As far as teaching is concerned, I have lots of experience. And can easily get another teaching offer if I quit this.

If he had no respect for you he won’t be calling you. You won the best teacher of the year and so must have something to offer. What you need to do is stop taking calls after a particular time when you get home. Initially, he may not understand. But be polite and let him know that you need to rest so you can give your best in school.

Also, the Bible says “ “A servant pampered from youth will turn out to be insolent.” My house help stated the amount I am paying her. I did not negotiate with her. I treat her well, but I know she is not my child.

The problem is employing a minor. One should only employ an adult. As for buying the same thing for my house help as my kids, that is laughable. When I buy a piece of turkey or cake for my child, I do not have to buy it for my house help. I pay her a salary. I don’t pay my kids. If the house help does her job well and I am happy with her, I may give her a treat.

Stop disturbing yourself. You did the right thing. If he had killed you, Nairaland will blame you for accepting the first beating. He is unhappy because he doesn’t have a job doesn’t mean he should beat you. If you continue to beg him, he will really believe that you owe him an apology. Love and respect him, but love and respect yourself and your kids also.

Move forward and encourage him to move forward. Treat him well and stop going over the past.

What are Nigerians supposed to do? They buy things at a high price and you want them to sell these cheaply? If you take an Uber, some of the drivers will ask you to go offline so they can make some money. If you drive yourself, you’ll end up going out only when you have to. The government is supposed to make things better; not make it sooooo horrible. Members of the government do NOT fuel their cars themselves. If they did, they won’t be shocked at the increase in the prices of everything. Even the exchange rate has gone completely crazy. Ordinary toilet roll is unbelievable. Rose Carla is N500 for one!!! Some of us buy it because we feel it lasts longer than others, but not for N500!!!! When anyone wants to be a member of the government, it should be because they have solutions to Nigeria’s problems. Solutions that will make life easier.

When you tell a petrol attendant how much fuel to put in your tank, the onus lies on said attendant to put in the exact amount you asked for. If she fills up your tank, she will pay for it. The man should simply have reported her to her manager.

This is a good advise, but the problem here is that so many Nigerian girls program themselves to depend on men for literally everything.

You'll be shocked to discover that some 35-40 year old girls still call guys to beg them for irrelevant things like money to eat, money to make hair, assistance in paying rent, assistance in business...etc.

How then do you expect such person to singlehandedly raise a child, pay school fees, buy clothes, drugs when sick, take the child out for weekends...etc?

It's very rare to see a successful single mom in Nigeria who works hard and takes care of her kids without depending on anyone. Many single mothers out there depend on prostitution, others keep a handful of men who would be supporting them from time to time, not knowing that such act would definitely have a negative impact on the child.

So for me, I'll say, if you're a lady between 35-40, unmarried and still depending on male support, avoid bringing any child into this world, cos with this our horrible economy, you obviously cannot rely on begging to train your chid.

Why do you assume that a woman who is not married cannot take care of herself? Do you work in an office? Do you have female bosses? Are they all married? If you can take care of yourself on your salary without depending on having sex with anyone so they can take care of you, why would you assume women don’t take care of themselves? Why would they have to rely on prostitution or begging? I agree that there are certain kind of women that beg to live, but there are quite a number of women that live their lives with dignity.
