In the light of the grace I have received I want to urge each one among you not to exaggerate his real importance. Each of you must judge himself soberly by the standard of the faith God has given him. Just as each of our bodies has several parts and each part has a separate function, so all of us, in union with Christ, form one body, and as parts of it we belong to each other. Our gifts differ according to the grace given us. If your gift is prophecy, then use it as your faith suggests; if administration, then use it for administration; if teaching, then use it for teaching. Let the preachers deliver sermons, the almsgivers give freely, the officials be diligent, and those who do works of mercy do them cheerfully. Do not let your love be a pretence, but sincerely prefer good to evil. Love each other as much as brothers should, and have a profound respect for each other. Work for the Lord with untiring effort and with great earnestness of spirit. If you have hope, this will make you cheerful. Do not give up if trials come; and keep on praying. If any of the saints are in need you must share with them; and you should make hospitality your special care.----Romans 12:3-13
hmm...today's first reading, what else can i say... just thought of sharing.
Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all. |

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.---St. Gertrude.
The Holy Souls in Purgatory. Out of charity, out of justice, and out of excusable selfishness — they have such power with God! — remember them often in your sacrifices and in your prayers. May you be able to say when you speak of them, “My good friends the souls in purgatory.”---St.Josemaria Escriva (the Way).
Eternal rest grant them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them... |

Janetozi: Through out this article, there is no biblical back-up to support the celebrations.
Celebrating the Saint, i saw no biblical back up to support it.
Celebrating the dead, i saw no biblical back--up. (it is just like Halloween day, Satanic celebration)
Purgatory was mentioned, no biblical back-up.
Mary was mentioned pope was mentioned
but there was no mentioned of Jesus or any bible verse.
***My conclusion**
Catholic is indeed a church built on the foundation of Christ. Yet you finished typing this without a biblical back up ***My conclusion** You're indeed a christian. |

SalC: Today, we again celebrate the annual "ALL SAINTS' DAY" . A day we celebrate the known and unknown saints, a day we pray with the saints, look at the life of the saints. Meditate on their life and sayings, appreciate them for their good fight of faith. And try henceforth to emulate them.
It's also a holy day of obligation in the mother church,
Today we pray with the saints as they pray for us in unison before God.......
HAPPY ALL SAINTS' DAY BRETHREN Same to you Sis. May their lives inspire us, and may the good Lord see us through, till the race is won. “ How God will judge my life I know not, but I trust he will see me with mercy and compassion. I am only certain there will be three surprises in Heaven. First of all, I will see some people whom I never expected to see.
Second, there will be a number whom I expected who will not be there.
And - even relying on God’s mercy - the biggest surprise of all may be that I will be there"...Fulton J sheen. |

striktlymi: If all the teachings of Christ were clear, he wouldn't spend the better part of his rest time explaining to the Apostles. Anyways, I am less worried about the synod as I mentioned earlier.
Let the Fathers have their debates and whatever comes out by way of one or more official teachings should be embraced by the faithful.
Expressing undue fear may have the negative effect of placing doubts in the hearts of 'shaky' Catholics with regards to the potency of the teaching authority of this papacy. Gbam! |
