Jobs/VacanciesRe: Ogun Civil-Service Commission Demands 12k From Applicants by t2luv:
jhydebaba: 12000 naira multiply by 100000 applicants = 1,200,000,000 naira.

Let the govt of Ogun come out and tell us that they are broke instead of this game they're trying to play.

I once fell prey of their gimmick in 2011 when application form was 500 naira. After paying for the form, I was directed to go and pay one tax at the rate of 500 naira again.

I was later told that I need to submit my certificate of origin along with the form. That certificate cost me 4500 naira from my local govt.

Did I mention that I shuttle between Lagos, Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode while the madness last. I spent almost 5000 naira on transportation and feeding.

At the end of it all, I was told that the form I obtained was that of Gbenga Daniel (former governor) that Amosun's (new governor) form is not out yet cheesy
Please tell me you made this whole story up. I was laughing at the same time crying. Since I don't live in Nigeria, Can someone explain to me what is a certificate of Origin. What is it use for. The job should be open to all citizen of the country. Are you telling me only people from a particular state can apply for the job. I am just curious.

If you can removed it. It wasn't factory tinted. It was installed by the previous owner aftermarket.

Try and get an European imported(Tokunbo) car, or if you prefer a Nigeria used American spec. cars. 600k will not get you an American used (Tokunbo) car, one in good condition. Just do the math man. shipping cost $1300 (N208,000), then add clearing fee of N230,000. You right at there close to N480,000, and that does not include the cost of getting the car at an auction, and all the extra charges for removing the car from the auction, and getting it ready for shipment. Car TalkRe: Why Do Nigerians Dislike Nissan Cars? by t2luv:
KA24DETT: ]
There can be someting wrong with your car. Car MPG is a very subjective issue, No 2 cars can give u the same mileage. Alot of factors determines the mileage u get
3
U dont need to change the fuel injector nozzle.. it is a waste of money. Never had a maxima i had to change the fuel injector nozzle. Most gas are blended with fuel injector cleaner so that too is not really necessary

Are u being serious right now. The 3.5l engine was first installed in the 2002 nissan maxima then detuned into the Altima then banked for the RWD G35 and 350z and finally installed in the nissan quest.
You dont work with car cus if u do, u would know that nissan uses CVT transmission in the murano. Altima, Maxima and Murano SHARE THE SAME PLATFORM (D PLATFORM)
Now u saying that the weight of the car is the reason for a very bad CVT transmission . loll.. You forgot that nissan gave a 6yr warranty on the cvt transmission cus they belive it is that reliable... People buy Nissans cus it very reliable (me included), and the power band is unbelievable.
A V6 Nissan altima is faster 0-60 than a honda accord , toyota camry and acura tl. Nissans are fun to drive, Interiors are amazing.
The 3.5L is a good engine, and I agree that it is far better than anything coming out from both Honda and Toyota. You will find 3.5L in V6 Altima, and not as a base model. The problem with Murano is not an Engine problem, rather it is a transmission problem. The CVT transmission is good for a sedan, but not for a Cross over vehicle like Murano. That is why Nissan never put the CVT transmission in the Pathfinder even though some Pathfinde uses the 3,5L engine, ditto for QX4 Infiniti. I still believe it has to do with the additional weight on the Murano. If my memory serves me right, there was a recall on the 2003 - 2010 Murano, to correct the torque converter differential. I also drive a 07 Maxima and I love it. For some reason people in Nigeria have never warmed up to Nissan products. I wonder why.

You need fuel injector cleaner. In US,most fuel are now Ethanol blend. Overtime the Ethanol clog up the nozzle. I am not aware of any cleanning additives added to the fuel in Nigeria. In fact I think Nigeria fuel are leaded. (I hope I'm wrong).
Car TalkRe: Why Do Nigerians Dislike Nissan Cars? by t2luv: 5:06pm On Jun 21, 2012
Loskee: i like NISSAN TIIDA... is that strange?
Very good car. I think in US it is call Maxima. Change the oil every 3 months, and use a fuel injector cleaner once a month. You shouldn't have any problem. Then at 100,000 miles change the the fuel injector nozzles.
Car TalkRe: Why Do Nigerians Dislike Nissan Cars? by t2luv: 4:59pm On Jun 21, 2012
Mavor: I dont think they are very strong for Nigerian roads. Most of the cool Nissan cars I know like Murano come witn double silencers which translates to lots of fuel guzzling. Not an economic choice.
You dont know what you talking about. Double exhaust means the engine is breathing better than a single exhaust Car. The issue with Murano can be traced to badly design flaws. Putting an engine designed for a Sedan on a Crossover platform, then adding more weight on top. That is why the transmission is always going out on a Murano. Nissan should have put a 3.3L Pathfinder engine in the Murano. Nissan cars are very popular in US for one reason only, thy come with Timming Chain, and not Timming Belt. Trust me I know this cos I work with cars.
Car TalkRe: Honda End Of Discussion Vs Camry Big For Nothing ; Which Is Better by t2luv: 4:51pm On Jun 21, 2012
Osio: Big for Nothing, [b]its really big for nothing. Stay off it.
A Honda, i am weary of them, cant tell if they have been able to perfect the creation of a functional and long lasting gearbox.
I currently use a Hyundai XG30, and its serving me wella.
Why not try a Nissan Maxima 2003 - 2007 Model, a Hyundai Sonata 2005-09 Model, A Mazda 6 or a Volvo S60. these are very reliable cars but have it in mind that its all about the way you use them that you would enjoy them.
Cheers
If I am in your position I will go for a Nissan car. Timming Chain over a timming belt any day. Trust me you won't regret it. If you settle for an EOD make sure it has a V6 engine, because Honda V6 comes with a timming chain. Timming chain is warranty for 1 million miles, in essence no need to replace it. Can not say the same thing when it comes to Timming belt.
Car TalkRe: Are Kia And Hyundai Cars As Reliable As Toyota Cars? by t2luv: 5:22pm On Jun 19, 2012
Faithnn: The problem with kia and hyundai is spare parts is very scare. Not as common as toyota and others cars, even if u happen to find any u pay more to get it.This is where the company should look into.In terms of durability and second hand value it cannot match japanese cars.
Bingo. You just hit the nail on the head. Just so you know both Kia and Hyundai are made by the same company. in fact they both use interchangeable parts. The main issue I have is in their Timming Belt. Honda and Toyota cars that uses Timming Belt, can go close 100K miles before you need to change them. With both Kia and Hyundai you have 70K miles. Since both kia and Hyundai models uses DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam Engine) engines, if the timming belt happen to break this will lead to engine Cylinder head problem. Both Toyota, and Honda do not have the ths problem since their engines are MPFI (Multi Port Fuel Injector). If their timming belt happen to break, you do not have to worry about the engine needing to be replace. For my money, I take Toyota. Low cost of maintenance.

prince_onx: @flexya:
First of all am not based in Nigeria! I live in the US and have for over a decade so you can save all that your taxes, bills, and insurance excuses for those in Nigeria. I own 2 houses here myself! One is paid off and the other have about 8yrs or less left depending on my payment so I know too much about both income and property taxes and the last time I was on a public transportation/bus was in 2001 meaning I also pay auto insurance but hardly/don't pay speeding tickets because I pay to park where am supposed to and maintain legal speed limit. I pay my federal, state, and city taxes, health, life, property, and auto insurance. I live in NE so I know what gas bill is cause my Winter gets to minus 0. (2) you owe me no explanation for not having a house or property in Nigeria but don't ever let me hear you again say that people based abroad can NOT save to build or buy property or near impossible to build regarless of their pay/income except they're involve in dirty deals! There are people out there that make real good money genuinely! I mean GOOD money without having anything to do with business! Just their job and their pay check! I don't know what you do/did in London but pls don't call that a good job again if you struggle to save £300 a month! and by the way more money doesn't necessary mean BIGGER house! There are affordable, comfortable and good houses also in good neighborhood for a family of five. That take us back to living within your/one's means! A lot of people sacrifice a lot of things or pleasure overseas/here just to be able to save more money a month either for investment or simply to save up more! You named car loan as one of your bills in your first reply, then £57 bus pass/card a week in your second reply! I dont know if you own a car or jump on the bus but instead of having a car loan which require full coverage insurance (more money a month) on a newer car ( 1 or 2yrs old) why dont you save up and buy (pay cash) for a 5, 6, or even a 8yrs old car and get a liability (cheaper) insurance a month! And whata blank is TV license? You guys need a permit to watch TV's too? Oga/Bross, to cut stories short you said you've lived in UK for 19+yrs, Abeg! Am begging you stop giving those excuses and do something. You're probabely in your late 40s or early/mid 50s but Your income (£40k gross) is not bad at all and even £300 saving a month is also not bad and properties in your town of Ibadan is also not too expensive! So with few adjustment to your bills and life style that £300 a month can increase to £500 a month and you know what that is in 12months! Even £300 a month is still above half a million Naira so stop those excuses or simply say you're not interested instead of saying it's near impossible or can't be achieved unless one is doing some illegal sh.I.t
Trust me, it is cheaper for the brother not to buy a car, and continue using public transportation. Do you know how much it cost to live in those Europeans countries?. The cost of gasoline is unbelievable. Their individual income tax rate is so high, that if someone try to impose the same thing over here in US, the person will be out of office before sunset. Saving half a million naira yearly, in order to buy the a decent land of N1M, not including the other expenses that goes into buy a land in Nigeria will still take an individual close to 3yrs. Three years just to buy the land. Do the math for how long it will take someone to build the house. You know it man something just ain't kosher (Right). Thank You.

TravelRe: The Dana Air Plane Was Faulty? by t2luv: 4:15am On Jun 04, 2012
t2luv: The plane was built in 1983. It is bigger verison of DC 81. That is beside the point. With proper maintenance a plane can still fly at 30 years old. Delta fly a lot of MD88 that are at least 30 years old. Both MD88 and this plan in question were built by the same company in St Louis.
Thia is what really pissed me up. I have to copy and paste the following. I was not able to insert the link.

Build-up to final crash of Dana aircraft MD-83 in Lagos

A Dana Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83 with registration number 5N- RAM that finally crashed, yesterday, killing about 153 passengers on board, was a disaster waiting to happen.

On May 3, an unnamed Lagos station manager of the airline was reported to have drawn the attention of management of the airlines that the aircraft in question needed to be grounded for general check-up but that alarm was ignored.

So on May 11, 2012, the same aircraft that was billed for Lagos/Abuja with more than half capacity passengers and an air return and had emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammed airport. Reports said passengers on board had to hurriedly disembark and sought alternative means of travelling. No casualty.

On May 25, 2012, the same plane that was to do Lagos/Calabar flight also made another air return to Lagos after the crew reported engine fault. There was also no casualty.

Then came the final straw. On June 3, 2012, the same MD-83 with registration number 5N-RAM was performing a flight 9J-1993 from Lagos to Abuja with 153 passengers on board when the crew also discovered that the engine had developed fault. The pilot made a quick air return to Lagos.

But while on a final appraisal to the runway 16L, the aircraft rammed into a power line, crashed into a build-up area about 5-6nm from touch down and burst into flames, killing all passengers on board.

Last time I was in Lagos around January this year. I was shown a plot of land in Ikeja, Issac John area, for N180M. Converted at the going exchange for that time, it came out to be close to $1,100,000.00. This is a plot of land with no house on it, and not even on tarred road. I thought that was crazy. Who in their right mind will buy a piece of land at that price. I mean a plot, not even an acre.
PropertiesRe: Why Do Most Nigerians Abroad Remain Tenants When They Are Back Home? by t2luv: 4:23am On May 24, 2012
info@lpf:
We'll try to answer from our perspective:

1. Inflated Prices - Right about when we returned to Nigeria, there was an unprecedented boom in the Nigerian RE market, some say hyper inflated and caused by politicians laundering money by purchasing RE, but I have little interest in speculation. Whatever the cause, a house that would normally have sold for the equivalent of $300,000 - $500,000, suddenly was being marketed for the equivalent of $1 - 2 Million! Reality is those prices are out of reach to most people. Even in the US, I do not live in a million dollar house!

2. Uncertainty - I'll explain this one by using an example. In Atlanta, Georgia, before the RE bubble burst, one could reasonably estimate the RE growth rate at 4 - 6% year over year. This is all founded upon an incredibly mature RE industry, backed by a solid property surveying and valuation systems, a state of the art title recording system, fantastic title insurance in case any questions ever arise as to ownership and a justice system that works! Why is this relevant? Well quite simply, I would invest $100, knowing that except in an economic depression, my home purchase is backed by the full faith of the Republic! IN Nigeria, one could spend N500,000,000 on RE, and then have to contend with a disgruntled omonile son or daughter for the rest of your days. No thanks.

3. Quality - The reality is, once one has lived outside of Nigeria for an extended period (even Ghana and Benin), one gets accustomed to a certain level of quality in building design and finishing. This is almost always absent in Nigerian homes! There is a mediocrity in finishing that has become so accepted, it is quite sad. Why can tiles not be laid properly? Why do screeded walls and ceilings fall unaided (and always when you have guests, right?)? Why do the circuit boards blow up or burn? Why do wooden floor boards stub your toes? Why do doors always come off their hinges? Why do kitchen cabinets fall in the middle of the night, with all my good china? Why do the pipes always leak, why do toilets shake when you sit on them, why do I have to replace my toilet flushing mechanism every 3 months? Why does the air conditioner man attach the AC to the wall in such a way that I have to bend my head to read the inscriptions on it? Why, why, whyhuh
Quite simply, how can one then justify paying so much for such crap? I am always amused by the pictures in the property section, and always laugh till my sides pop open when I go on inspections of houses with "superlative finishing". Please! Look up a million dollar house any place else in the world except perhaps Tokyo and Beijing, and compare with a million dollar house in Nigeria, especially Lagos. I don't live in Abuja or Calabar, and don't intend to, so that market is not so relevant to me.

4. Location, Location, Location - I refuse to live in Mowe, Ajiran, Egbeda, Iyana ipaja, Ofada or any other city named after food! I respect people who live there, and who have managed to make life comfortable for themselves. Hats off to you! To each his own poison, however. I choose to live in Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA or Apapa GRA and Victoria Island coming in a distant 4th. I like ground space and lush cultivated greenery (not wild bushes), and whatever is left of it in Lagos can be found in these areas. Can I afford to buy lush greenery and ground space in these areas? Hell no! So I rent. It is affordable, and if I do a Net Present Value calculation of my money, I am well pleased.
What I find amazing is the price a plot of land goes for. For the price of a plot of land in certain part of Lagos Island you can buy my house in Johns Creek Ga. for $380,000 and still have some change to buy a 2012 Benz. I am talking a plot of land with no tarred road, no data line installation, and I mean nothing.
