Politics › Re: Buhari Intended To Stabilize Electric Power By 2019! by taharqa: 4:26pm On Jan 18, 2013
take dat: Okay agreed that over $11billion was spent on the NIPP. Another $1.1billion will be borrowed this year

The six Gencos were auctioned at N107billion and government had spent close to N600billion to resuscitate them. While Kainji and Shiroro that billions of dollars have been spent on was sold for $760million and $364million including the properties attached to them. 60% of government share in 10 of the 11 distribution companies are said to be sold for N169billion, yet the landed properties of these discos are worth billions of naira. All the transformers, electric poles we bought with our monies have been auctioned to the buyers not to talk of other distribution facilities and you claim Nigeria gained from the privatisation when its actually personalisation of state utility to self and cronies. The bottom line is that this GEJ's privatisation exercise na still scam!
Plz provide me wit where u got d info dat #600billion had bn spent on d Gencos that was sold to 'RESUSCITATE' dem (only 5 were sold, not 6- Afam was not sold eventuali)... Kainji and Shiroro WERE NOT SOLD cos of dier oda stratigic water and agric uses; they were only concessiond to private hands, whilst Nigeria continues to wholly own them... A lot of d non-core lands and landed properties ownd by former PHCN as well as its debts are actuali unda d Management of d newly creatd National Liability Company, not all of them went with d DISCOS.... But so am clear, am not arguing that d bid price of d various GENCOs and DISCOs are equal to d amount of money that were eva spent on them since their constructn (for sm of dem up to 40 yrs), but that d prizes are reflective of d CURRENT values of d core assets and d need/economic advantage of putting them in private hands. The bid prize are certainly not give-aways by any sketch of d imaginatn, i insist. Plus, d process itself was TRANSPARENT to d extent of ff its own self-imposd and agreed rules

Politics › Re: Buhari Intended To Stabilize Electric Power By 2019! by taharqa: 2:54pm On Jan 18, 2013
take dat: Government is a continuum especially with the same party in power. The amount spent by GEJ and OBJ is more than the $16billion and how many megawatt have we generated? After investing heavily the true beneficiaries of it will be the Genco's When you compare the money spent and at what cost there were privatised.
As far as i know d money actuali spent by both OBJ and GEJ is not up to $10billion, if u hv any CONCRETE amount (not hearsay) plz share. And dis amount wud eventuali produce about 4600MW from NIPP alone, plus sm few oda thousands of MWs that wud be recovered from d old plants; thousands of kms of transmissn and distributn lines and substations are also inclusive..... Again, NONE of d 11 NIPP projects hv bn privatised YET; and d bid prize of d 5 old PHCN plants dat were privatisd generali was commensurate to dier present values as assertd by sm experts. Paying about $150- $200m for 60% stake of a plant is NOT a give away from any stretch of d imaginatn

You should be ashamed of your rotten self.

Tony Spike: Imagine, my brother. The combined power generated by Nigeria is what is consumed by two big cities in South Africa. I wonder why some chimps are beating their chests over a paltry 5000 MW.
Sharrap there, dis is d HYPOCRISY am talking about. GEJ has already doubled public power supply that he met on ground and it is not just IMPROVING BUT IT IS SET TO CERTAINLY IMPROVE EVEN MORE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER TIME cos there is even as we speak about 3000MW power that is almost already available to be added to d grid dis yr alone; and dis is apart from d huge unfathomable possibilities from a REFORMED and PRIVATISED power sector that GEJ has single mindedly pursued for 2yrs now, which has bn rightly haild by most experts as d SOLUTION to Nigeria's power problems both now and esp in d future.. Now get LOST
Politics › Re: Buhari Intended To Stabilize Electric Power By 2019! by taharqa: 1:48pm On Jan 18, 2013
take dat: Its interesting to know that GEJ intends to stabilise power supply by 2015 after spending over $16billion to generate a little above 2000mw, in a country where rural electrification is a big problem, not much attention is been paid to transmission and distribution, where we buy our transformers, electric poles, pay for a "free" prepaid metre and tens of thousand of neighbourhood still ration power supply. I dey laugh o!
This is a LIE and you know it. 1st, where did u get d info dat GEJ hv spent $16billion on power Or that only 2000MW hv been (or wud be) produced from whateva money he has spent so far in d power sector?

Demdem: Fool, I don't know because av not been to Nasarrawa. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be patient and wait for comments from those that probably know. For the op and ur kind to go conclude after visiting Google that the gov has been useless so far shows u all are really daft.

Why can't u all invoke the FOI law u claim is working on the state government and demand answers. or didnt Maku's good governance trip get to Nasarawa?

I can't speak about areas I don't know but if its SW, SS, SE and the country generally, that I know and comment on.

Extremely foolish like u type will depend on Google for acheivement knowing fully well that they hardly receive coverage from the media.

Indeed u are daft o.

Politics › Re: What Has Buhari And His CPC Been Doing In Nasarawa State? by taharqa: 11:54am On Jan 18, 2013
take dat: Hmmm, if the @Op was interested in accessing a state governor with genuine intention, he shouldn't have added Buhari to his post. If we are yet to see any meaningful achievement in Nasarawa, its because the PDP government that ruled the state for 12years pillage and plundered the state so you shouldn't expect a miracle from a governor of less than two years! Its my choice to make comparision with GEJ when his lickspittles try to smear others after all he is the leader of the party that nearly ruined the state.
issokay. So 'we are yet to see any meaningful achievement in Nasarawa' cos Almakura inheritd '12 yrs of pillage' in 2yrs BUT you expect GEJ to by sm form of miracle completely 'fix d pillage in Nigeria that hv bn going on in 40yrs' in 2yrs. You are a FAIR guy, my frnd.... So you know, i shall not respond to anything concerning GEJ on dis thread; like i said b4 if you want to discuss him open a thread and we will come. That's d diff, we will always come cos we at least hv some of d little 'meaningful achievements' he has done in 2yrs to clear up d mess he inheritd and d even more of such tins he is presently doing. By d way, it is SHAMEFUL dat parts of d 3rd Mainland bridge still do not hv street lights...
Politics › Re: 434MW Geregu Power Plant To Begin Power Generation This Week by taharqa: 10:58am On Jan 16, 2013
Oya ova to you @Demdem
taharqa: Okay, then i shall now try to respond to you cos of a single reason- to show you do not hv any clue of what u are talking about (i mean not a single clue at all)... Your entire argument here started and rests on d 'fact' that d Geregu plant in questn is the very plant constructd by OBJ which you hv bn seeing near lokoja.

Fail No 1: you do not know d diff bw Geregu I and Geregu II. You do not know that d 414MW Geregu I power plant (most of whose core constructn was completed by OBJ in 2006 though which wasnt alignd to d national grid cos of gas pipeline and transmissn evacuatn challenges until recently- d plant has just been privatisd last yr though so wud be doing well going forward) IS VERY DIFFERENT from d 434MW Geregu II power plant (d plant whose turbins purchase contract was given to GE in Sept 2010 and whose core construction, gas pipelines and transmission evacuation facilities hv now bn completd in exactly 2yrs as was plannd).

Fail No 2: you said that GEJ has not constructd nor mainly completed any power plant as according to you, they were all 'built by OBJ' , abi? So Omotosho II, Oloronsogo II, Sapele, and parts of Alaoji most of whose constructn (core constructn, gas pipelines and Evacuatn facilities) hv bn done in d last 3 yrs and are now suppling power to d grid, are what then? Guess you also ignorantly thought that d old Omotosho and Olorosongun plants (mostly built by OBJ although almost nothing was done in terms of d gas pipelines and Evacuatn facilities then) were the only plants in those 2 areas. Egbema, Ibom, Benin/Ihovbor and Gbarain new power plants whose main works have also bn done in d last 3 yrs are virtuali complete, and certainly at least sm of dier units wud be fired up and should wheel power to d grid this year; only d Calabar plant may not come on stream in d foreseeable future cos of its peculiar gas pipelines and transmissn evacuatn problems.

Fail No 3: GEJ has 'not built any Transmissn or Distributn facilities' lol, i just cant stop laughing- u just dont know how ridiculously ignorant this particular claim is!! 234km of new 330kv transmission lines wud even be inauguratd smtime dis month, and dis is apart from d many kms of transmission and distributn lines and dier accompanying substations that hv bn built in every single state within d last 3yrs. Hell, GEJ has done even beta in constructing, repairing and expanding these lines than he had even done with power plants cos they were a complete mess b4 he came, and its one area OBJ (who granted did sm good work in power generation And policy issues like Power Act) didnt do almost anything; there is a reason d nation can NOW effectively wheel 4300-4500MW of power for weeks and months without a serious systems failure whilst d entire system collapsd in 2 days when we fooolishly tried wheeling 3800MW power in 2008. Go figure...... Am tird of typing, plus i gat to go do sm oda tins BUT i will be back later to continue responding to d ignorant NONSENSE you hv bn spewing tru out dis thread- Fail No 4 and No 5, etc. For eg, u opend yr mouth IN PUBLIC to confidently say dat GEJ 'has not built any gas lines', abi? *smh*...later

Northern Nigeria is very blessed with fertile land, there is a place in borno state near Ngala just close to border, OMG! That place is blessed with tomatoes. And just imagine setting up a rice or wheat processing industry in sokoto, and enhancing cotton production in zamfara state. Not to talk of going back to 60's and bringing back groundnut pyramids, and I forgot Niger and benue state (very blessed states). utumunta: I hope Mr Diop is not playing to the gallery and giving one of their own(NOI) a pat on d back.
Is it that poverty reduced among politicians and their cronies or the reduction translates to the common man?
I know that for the rest of January, GEJ's speech anywhere and everywhr will be laced with the world bank's 'commendation' . "even the world bank, recognise what we are doing in govt and recently said that..."
Why wont he say that. If the data was in d diff direction, wudn't u guys be writing useless articles bombarding the nation about hw he had pluggd Nigerians to more poverty? If d data was NEGATIVE, wudn't u guys be celebrating it by now? ballabriggs: Poverty data in Nigeria is by the National Bureau of Statistics and at the last count in 2010 the NBS puts it at 69% so which "own criteria and assessment" did Mr Diop use in reaching his conclusion?

Let's be clear, was he referring to poor and very poor, poor alone or very poor alone. Nigerian Journalists really need to step up their game, the news report is watery.
The new 2012 figures from NBS is i believe 60.9%, which like dis World Bank 'report' indicates a slight decline in d overall poverty rate within d 2-yr period. Unemployment rate also similarly decreasd. The NBS uses both Relative and Absolute Poverty rates though... I agree that d journalists reporting this ought to hv done a much beta job at explaining; there are many things i still dont undastad myself..

Eziachi: What I understood from what? You said farmers don't pay tax anyway, that is your own very word and I was asking you how you are giving any sort of incentive to someone that doesn't pay any tax, especially from tax payer money?
How do you sleep at night with this kind of view on issues? Do you have any sort of shame. There are certain things that are indefensible in my opinion.

Even if Jonathan is your secret father, at least there should be times, you see some terrible things, as a human with an atom of conscience, you had to say, this has got beyond joke.

You can still be Jonathan supporter and still retain some element of sanity and reasoning. I can't get my head around this farmers and phone business. What is this phone suppose to do for a farmer?

I can't for the life of me ever consider that the only item I viewed important to give an illiterate farmer is a phone, which even some unemployed could afford. What is that all about?
Even the most moronic person can see this from afar that this is another channel/scheme opened to steal public money as always or someone has completely gone mad.
Hey, you talk too much without actuali saying anything. Too many words does not move me in the laest, esp during debates; logic, reasons and alternatives paths do.... Again, your ONLY problem with this (just like every person here) is that same irrational talk of 'they will eat our money', abi? That same common excuse not to use one's head in Nigeria these days.

By the way @ emboldened, so if a group of people do not pay tax, at least not in amounts sufficient to begin to talk about 'tax rebate' as you had suggested previously (most rural Nigeria would easily fall into this category), then the Govt cant provide them any sort of incentives from the money of other tax payers- that's your logic, right? Right there is the sort of reasoning any sane person is supposed to respond to, abi?
