Sincere 9gerian: When FERMA was doing THIS SAME THING on bad portions of Oshodi-Apapa road, they called it "patch-patch" and insulted GEJ. Some went to the extent of calling for another "occupy Nigeria" protest to sack "clueless" Bro Jona.

But now that the Lagos state govt is doing THE SAME THING on another road, they called it "fixing" and showered praises on Fashola. Already they'v started littering everywhere with "Eko o ni ba je"

Hypocrisy dey smell!

ypzilanti: GEJ has the opportunity to make the most important strides in the power sector. If he can be focused, the plans on the drawing board are good enough to solve the power problem before the end of his tenure. That said, Knowing GEJ, he will not get this done. Why? Because he does not have the strength of character, or the development drive required. That burning zeal to make Nigeria better, and not mind whose ox is gored, is completely absent in the man.
@yzilanti, i am quoting so as to bookmark cos i fully intend to play it back to you when d time comes. Cheers...

maryjames9: Be kind enough to share the pictures, will you? Aba ports, portharcourt ports. Or are they projects built in your dreams? Clueless, corrupt and ineficient rogues called government. Let us see massive federal roads projects, faster rails, functional refineries, corrupt free system and we can praise him.
You are an ijiot to quote me and spew d nonsense above!! You no dey fear? Do you know what an inland dry port mean, and hw it is crucial in an evolving Inter-modal transportatn system? Yes, an evolving inter-modal transportatn system for d 1st time in dis country. The FG is presently doing d most work in d rail sector THAN ANY GOVT IN NIGERIA AT LEAST SINCE INDEPENDENCE by rehabilitating d entire ova 3000km dilapilitated rail tracks (sm of which are already working) and building new ones. Same thing is also happening in d Inland Waterways with dis govt completing d dredging of d 'lower' River Niger (i think for the 1st time) and commencing d dredging of River Benue as well as sm oda rivers like Orishi, just as d Onitsha river port has bn completd since last yr and d oda 3 river ports in Oguta, Lokoja and Bida are ova 80% complete (as any person who live near the ports, esp Lokoja and Bida can attest) and are expectd to be finishd in d 1st quarter of dis yr. The dry ports bn constructd all ova d country are just part of dis evolving Inter-modal transport system whose skeletal structure is already in place (we pray dat b4 dis yr runs out d skeleton wud hv taken in sm flesh to give it more structure). Ask manufacturers and traders of bulk goods d effect all these wud hv on their costs of productn once d evolving inter-modal system tks shape... Now, get LOST Goon..

Politics › Ibadan Dry Port Ready For Inauguration by taharqa(op): 1:46am On Jan 09, 2013
The Oyo State Shippers’ Association has said the first phase of the Ibadan Inland Container Depot or dry port at Erunmu is ready for inauguration.

The president of the association, Dr. Ayo Omotoso, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the concessionaire, Catamaran Logistics Limited, would move into the ICD with its foreign partners after the inauguration.

Omotoso said that the rail line from Lagos to Ibadan and Kano had been rehabilitated and would facilitate the commencement of the dry port and others across the country.

He commended the Federal Government for rehabilitating the rail lines, adding that containers could now conveniently be transported by rail to ICD sites

jmaine: So they need to be shamed to get them working . . . .
Let me play Devils advocate for FERMA here... This particular road reconstructn and expansion has already bn awarded to Julius Berger and anoda company who were doing a great work reconstructing d road earlier dis yr. For a reason, possibly funding, they slowd down d work and later stoppd work completely. When GEJ orderd FERMA to repair roads for d holiday seasons recently, i rememba sm persons tru d papers putting pressure on FERMA to include d road in d emergency repairs programme but FERMA flatly rejectd d suggestn insisting dat since Julius Berger had already bn contractd for d whole road, they not them ought to undatake any remedial works on d road. They were technically right. Its like afta d reports yterday, FERMA hv bn orderd to do d remedial work by a higher authority though.

At d end of d day, a reactivatn of d actual constructn contract to JB needs to be done asap, and then d rehabilitatn of port rail line linking d rehabilitatd Lagos-Kano track be completd (if it is not already completd) so dat d heavy duty vehicles that ply dat route every day wud reduce else d road wud always go bad even afta reconstructn. Alternate route shld also be opend up.....
You are a serial, ALL railway rehabilitation projects in Nigeria today were conceived during Obasanjo's second tenure. The Lagos to Kano rail line modernization project was awareded to the chinease construction firm by Obasanjo through a loan facility by the Chinease government. His would not forgive your love for lies by ignoring the uproar during the late Yardua government that led to the contract being cancelled.

I am no fan of Obasanjo, but some of the projects He began in His second term had it been He started them in His first term, Nigeria would not have been left with a President like GEJ.

I have said it, if Fashola decides to run for President in 2015, I will organize for funds for His campaign! This is one project that would change Lagos.
Am responding to you just cos i previously told you that you shld always try to be sure of what you are saying b4 you quote me (i wudnt even waste time responding to d 2 chaps who quotd me here cos i cant respond to Nothing)... 1st, what do you rili mean when you say a Nigerian govt 'conceivd' a project? What does it rili signify when virtuali EVERY govt since d 1980s hv bn 'conceiving' d rehabilitatn and constructn of Old and New rail lines respectively? In Nigeria, hv we eva bn bereft of govts who 'conceive' d most audacious projects Or those to actuali implement it?.... By d way, d Lagos-Kano rail track you wantd to talk about was d PROPOSED Standard guage Lagos-Kano High Speed rail track dat OBJ gave to d Chinese at d tail end of his tenure, that was NEVER even began cos Yar'adua cancelld it immediately he became President (you see where just 'conceiving' gets to?). That move almost brought sm diplomatic tensions bw Nigeria and China, with d Chinese firm threatening to tk d Nigerian govt to court and demanding a compensatn of $1billion for unitararily cancelling a project. This was one of d things that made Yar'adua to later give dis same company d contract to construct Abuja-Kaduna rail track in 2009 whose actual constructn startd in Feb 2011 and is already more than 50% complete by GEJ. Nuff said..

banki: oh stop this nonsense the nigerian railway have a prorgamme they air on tv every week how come all the credit to the railway projects seem to be going to objs government and not your goodluck propaganda.....

i know you wish it were your principal that was doing this project, but he just cant think in that line.... was he not also governor of a state that has serious need for a great transport sysytem, he never concieved that kind of project he never even embarked on any meaninful project as governor or deputy governor..... oh sorry he embarked on the 16 floor bayelsa hotel project........and sylva didnt complete it so he was booted out! iknow when you sit down in your quite time you kick your self and wish it was jonathans government that was doing this,

other governments built the rail tracks in nigeria and they worked, all this government needs to do is to fix the tracks and revamp the railway system no one needs them to embark on any major project, when i was younger my parents stayed in zaria and my elder sister was in school in owerri.... it was a common sight to follow my folks to the train station and watch my sister go back to school in owerri with lots of her school mates, it was not rocket science then.....this was in 1989/1990.......
@banki, i HATE Propaganda with every fibre of my being and can only say dat you are a TOOL for quoting my comment and spitting d thrash u just did cos of yr HATRED for a man. 'All credit for the ongoing railway work goes to OBJ' according to a TV show? OBJ? Are you aware that virtuali no train movd during d 8yrs that OBJ ruld this nation? Are u aware that he did rehabilitate any of d already dilapilitatd tracks anywhere in d country? The rehabilitatn of d main Lagos-Kano startd in 2009 by Yar'adua and had barely gotten up to 15% b4 he died d nx yr leaving most of d work and d rehabilitatn of d entire rail spurs off dis main line to GEJ to complete- the main line has just bn finishd last month, just as its entire spur raillines that branches off it have/is been rehabilitatd by GEJ. The rehabilitatn of d even longer PH-Maiduguri rail line and its many spur lines startd in 2011 by GEJ and massive work is bn done as i speak as people along dat route wud tell you- trains wud surely move on dat line b4 d end of d yr. The Standard guage Ajaokuta-Aladja-Warri rail line dat startd since 1991 and abandond many times has virtuali bn completd today by GEJ who laid a new track from Agbor to warri and rehabilitatd sm parts of d track from Agbor tru Ore to Ajaokuta- a test train carrying d Min of Transport ran tru dis new path last yr and but for the navigational and buildings structure left shld hv bn completd by now. The actual constructn work of d Standard guage Abuja-Kaduna rail line that began in Feb 2011 by GEJ (though d contract was signd by Yar'adua in 2009) has not stop 1 day since then as you can testify since you say you live in Abuja, and is already more than 50% completd. The Abuja rail way project which yes began unda OBJ but was later abandond cos of funding concerns has bn restartd by GEJ afta resolving d funding issue for d entire project, and work is going apace by d Chinese contractor as you can also testify as an Abuja resident dat u say u are. The Double track Lagos-Ibadan Standard guage was startd last yr by GEJ; just as Feasibility studies for 7 new proposd routes to obtain d necessary data without which private investors wud not enter d railway sector was also given by GEJ. MOST of d wagons and locomotives bn usd today by NRC was eida FINALLY bought by GEJ or contractd by him. Yet u cud open yr mouth and say dat 'GEJ is not doing anything..he just cant think in dat line'? Hv you no DECENCY, not even a little, left? You wud allow HATRED mk u descend to dis level....*Just Disgusting*

FG's Feasibility studies wud provide serious business people like me d BASIC info or data upon which i wud mk a business decision. Without such basic info, i wudnt be able to do preliminary COSTING on d proposd project, without d Costing d project wudnt be BANKABLE meaning i wudnt be able to raise money eida from banks or even my board to even start my own Feasibility study from d scratch. Infact, without such basic info there cannot even be a CONTRACT bw myself and d govt cos there wudnt be any Basics (preliminary data) upon which dat contract wud hv bn written. Without such basic info emanting from d FG's Feasibility study there wud be NOTHING but 'word of mouth'; and even if by sm providence am able to raise funds (obviously not from Banks or my board or shareholders) to do my own VIRGIN feasibility study basd on d govt's 'word of mouth', d same govt or anoda one may at any time cancel everything.. ypzilanti: You are the one exposing your ignorance. Which private investor would bring money based on a feasibility study done by government? No effing way! You think MM2 was built based of FGs feasibility study? As a businessman, is that how you would do such business?

In any case, let them open up about the intentions so we can see. Is it government expenditure to nowhere? Is it private/public? All this feasibility study thing is another way to waste and loot public money. Two years have gone already.
Oh! Lawd. Some peeps just like talking!! So you mean a Korea investor for instance, wishing to put good money into building and running a railtrack in Nigeria wud mk dat decision without some basic data? A serious businessman? I askd you b4 if you actuali knew what a Feasibility Study was? Do you know that to build a track from point A to B there are sm basic info (geographic, geological, soil mechanics, demographic, social, financial etc) that MUST be available to an investor b4 he even decides to go ahead? Do you know why we had to develop a new Cartesian Mining map of d country and a new financial template b4 serious mining companies startd tking interest in d solid mineral sector? Do you know why Lagos and Abuja are about d only places in dis country where serious real estate developers troop and where Banks hv d greatest confidence in d land titles of prospectivers borrowers? Do you know..... Abeg, i no go fit type again. But just know dis: that previous govts didnt do any Feasibility studies on any proposd track route they were often mouthing is d clearest proof (apart from d amendment of d Railways Act- which unfortunately has still not bn amendment) that they werent serious about d complete transformatn of our archaic railway system nor they entrance of serious private investors to d sector

ypzilanti: You read my mind. It's like rocket science for our leaders, so lets not get carried away... A simple modern railway would do.

But seriously, last time I read they were planning feasibility studies for the project. REALLY? Spend billions of feasibility study, when you can set up framework, invite bidders, and go to sleep. In fact, you can even retain like 10 percent of the shares of the project as legacy for Nigerians, and use the land as the only contribution of government. What is NOI really up to? It seems to me she is the only one with the brain cells to grasp these issues, and she was given a powerful portfolio.
Piece of Advice: when you do not know what you are talking about, talk (or rather, write less).. Do you know what a Feasibility study entail? Which private investor wud put his money in a new railway project without an already prepard Feasibity study that wud aid his investment decisions?
