Politicians keep distracting us.
Na una dey allow dem dey distract una bi dat; commenting on these distractions (Politicians roforofo fights for THEIR interest) and leaving out what is the important things that are happening or not happening. There is a thread now on this section on the Outstanding FEAT of 1-hour Cargo clearence at Idiroko land border- an extremely important step for our country, and our businessmen (smtime that has also to sm extent bn happening in d Seaports for over a year now). Incompetent , corrupt jonathan squandered it all and now we are in greater debts than we paid off.

Jonathan is not only weak, indecisive and incompetent. He is also very, very corrupt!

Politics › Re: 57 PDP Reps Declare Support For Atiku’s Faction by taharqa: 9:50am On Sep 04, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: The opposition has always been in control of the house of reps since Tambuwai defeated the PDP candidate in 2011. So NOTHING has changed.

It can only make a difference if they'll attempt to impeach the president BUT they CANNOT. The NASS cannot attempt any impeachment process. The worst they can do is the usual noise making and delay passage of important bills. All these charade is just for noise, noise and more noise. The renegade PDP members are all over the courts seeking for one relief or the other. Its noise, noise and more noise.

GEJ has full control of PDP structures and would win the primary election any day, any time. That is what matter. The president has enough time to erect new structures in those few states for the purpose of securing atleast 25% of votes cast in 2015 elections.

Meanwhile, all the names on that list are house of reps members loyal to one or more godfathers who LOST OUT in the PDP power play. Its either they'r loyal to Atiku (who lost out in the entire PDP power struggle, first in 2007 and again in 2011), OBJ (lost his position as BOT chair, his loyalists in the PDP leadership were sent packing), Oyinlola (an OBJ man who lost his position as national secretary of PDP), the seven governors (lost out in the struggle for PDP presidential primary ticket) and IBB ( lost out in the PDP since the days of OBJ). Some of the legislators lost out with their home state governors (who are not members of the G-7).

So in essence, these are collection or gathering of LOSERS. To make matters worse, some of these LOSERS have fought each other at one point or the other in the past. For instance, the current governor of Adamawa state and Atiku have fought and badly injured each othe since the days of OBJ and even as recently as in 2011. These LOSERS maybe united in wanting the down fall of GEJ, but they cannot even work together for more than a few weeks.

While it is imperative that the president and other party leaders should try to resolve RESOLVABLE differences, since no political party would be happy to lose any member, the president cannot lose sleep over the shenanigans of some LOSERS. Unresolvable differences will be settled at the general elections, where the Nigerian people would have the final say.

The president was present all through yesterday at an event organised by Nigeria Economic Summit Group and did not appear to be losing sleep over the antics of these LOSERS. With the PDP primary ticket already in the bag, all the president has to worry about is the general elections and how to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people, who careless about the antics or tricks of some loser politicians.

The ongoing fight amongst Nigerian politicians is at cross purpose with the desires of the Nigerian people. What Nigerians/the man on the streets care about are reforms that'll make their life better. They'r eagerly awaiting conclusion of the power sector privatisation, more progress in the rail transport system, construction or repair of more roads, resolution of ASUU strike, completion of the ongoing standard guage rail lines, fast tracking of work on Abuja light rail, more dividends from the agric reforms, more job opportunities through more initiatives like YOUWIN,etc, etc.

Meanwhile, it is difficult not to note that over 95% of those lawmakers are from the north. The born to rule mentality. From 2011 till middle of this year when State of emergency was declared and Shekau killed, the president was distracted with Boko Haram. Now that Boko Haram appear to be going down, they'v resorted to other dirty antics. Well, the end will justify the means and POSTERITY will judge everyone of us.

Smoothest FRAUD in this country's history. Period.... A road that is suppossed to cost #50bn (already abnormally costly at #1bn per km, sm would say) to be constructed by d Concessionaires who are then expected to recoup their costs AFTER they must have finished construction tru tolling. After 7 years the road is no where near completion, yet d Concessionaires started collecting tolls illegally in d last 3 years. Suddenly, in stead of d LASG to terminate d contract or pressure d Concessionaire, the Govt is paying them #15bn to 'buy back' this failed Concession, #6.8bn and #3.5bn to pay the Debts and 3rd party liabilities incurred by the failed Concessionaire (yes, LASG is willing to even pay these people's debt!!!) ie more than #25bn in total. This is apart from d #5bn the Govt initiali pay to d Concessionaires at d start of d scheme. LASG wud also borrow #87.7bn from a bond to then build d road itself (ie, #103bn). This is from a project that was suppossed to cost #50bn!!! And to make d whole mata worse, d LASG wud still retain these same failed Concessaires, and apparently STILL PAY THEM either to collect d tolls or build d road!!!...... THE QUESTION IS: WHO IS BEHIND THIS LCC CONCESSIONAIRE?? Who is chopping these humongous money from Lagos State Tax payers, with impunity?

Politics › Ogun Custom Command Achieves 1-hour Cargo Clearence At Idiroko by taharqa(op): 1:18am On Sep 04, 2013
THE Ogun State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) may have achieved an outstanding feat in streamlining the period for clearing cargoes through the Idiroko Border Post, keeping this under an hour.

This is a great improvement on the previous time-frame of about one week it usually took to complete the process of taking imports out of the Command, which links Nigeria with Benin Republic, to other West African countries, and further afield.

Checks at the Command revealed that most consignments, especially vehicles, bearing correct declarations through self-assessment by importers or agents for payment of import duties, are promptly processed by the Customs personnel through the Automated System for Customs Data Plus-Plus (ASYCUDA++).

It was gathered that, once a particular cargo has been valued, scanned and the correct import duties recorded as having been paid on the consignment, and where no discrepancies are detected during the examination process, the cargo is then immediately released to the consignee or the agent.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Ogun State Command, Comptroller Ade Dosunmu, explained that the effective use of ASYCUDA++ and the cargo scanning machine facilitated the improvements recorded in goods clearance at the Command.

Idiroko Border Post, according to Dosunmu, is the only one out of similar outposts in Nigeria, where you can make your correct self-assessment and have your documents processed, for the clearing of your goods within an hour.

The CAC posited that the encouragement given the personnel by the Command since his assumption of office as the CAC served as an impetus for them to be more committed and effective in doing their jobs. He said they have justified the increases in their salaries and improvements in their welfare, as well as other incentives, by the Comptroller- General of Customs Dikko Inde Abdullahi.

Dosunmu said the fact that he has keyed into the seven- point agenda of the Customs chief has made it possible for him to ensure that the Command’s operations were carried out at a faster pace, to encourage more importers to use the border post and thus increase the revenue accruing to the Federal Government from imports.

The CAC assured that, once an agent or importer does the self assessment correctly at the Idiroko Data Trade Input (DTI), with a view to paying the right import duty on the cargo, there would be no basis for any delay on the part of the Command in ensuring that the consignment is promptly cleared.

He pointed out that while the Customs personnel have the requisite up-to-date training and are more committed to their work, the new strategy to enhance clearing of goods that has been introduced would certainly enable goods to be cleared within an hour at the Command.

Dosunmu disclosed that, since officers have been warned against undue delays in attending to documents, while bottlenecks militating against speedy clearance of cargoes have also been eliminated, the Command was already working towards completing the clearing processes in less than an hour.

He commended the Customs chief for the improvements recorded by the Command in its operations, noting that the provision of adequate logistics by the Customs Headquarters facilitated these, even as he appealed that the Area needed more encouragement to enhance its performance.

Venchy: I was in nigerina this yr February, all the immigration area was in turmoil as well as the Baggage area of.

Please don't take this as an offence but if you travel a lot you'll realise that we have no leaders but thieves.

How can you not have SOAP in airport toilet or TISSUE, below standard, it's a disaster.

This is why sometimes the conversation on NL reflect the lack of exposure of some people, people are constantly defending indefensible.

There's a difference between EXPERIENCE & HEARING about things, people argue about what they have no knowledge, that's beyond me, even Ghana, passengers DO NOT PAY for Trolley let alone in Europe.

MM car park it's a misery to me that NIGERIAN most popular airport has no Ordinary car park let alone SECURED where you can leave your car for days, wk or months.

We are a joker and Majority of NIGERIANS lives in denial if you know what I mean.
In Febrauary, abi? When d Remodeling and Expansion of sm sections was still seriously going on, which even made them to close those sections to the public. Go to some of these Sections today, esp d Expanded D and E Terminals. The Immigration Counters you just complained about have been Expanded from 4 to 10 (or even 14 sef); and those sections are beautifu with Expanded bridges, working Carousals, Waiting Areas, etc. A new International Hotel for Passengers is also bn built, I think. They were even supposed to commission these Sections this week or next according to a Thisday's interview of d FAAN MD. Let us not just criticize 'anyhow' without getting d latest info of work, abeg....... As I indicated in my comment, d Car Park is terrible (in fact, sm would say there is no Car park). But d FAAN MD also said that d building of an Automated Car park (and d completion of that Hotel) would be what they wud focus on now (he emphasize that they are taken the Remodeling in phases cos they cannot afford to close down d Airport for full work at a time and cos of Fund constraint of course). Another terrible thing, which you didn't even mention, is d Airport Road. They hv not done it (apparently, it is supposed to be d job of d Fed Min of Works) but they hv expanded and Automated d Gate and entrance of d Airport........ It is going to take time but Real work is/has been done on that Airport, much more work in fact than had bn d case in very many many years when virtuali NOTHING was done.
