jerusalem101: 1. He/she defines the word “PROGRESSIVE” as all those against Mr President.

2. All factional PDP members are progressives temporally and will hold such titles until their return to the true PDP.

3. He/she is quick to remind you that Mr. President agreed or signed a single tenure agreement. Parties to this agreement are usually not mentioned except Mr. President.

4. He/she tells you Mr. President’s achievements are associated with past administrations. Like all the roads and airports upgrades were initiatives of Yaradua and Obasanjo’s administrations.

5. He/she will defend anyone that speaks against the President, be it a criminal.

6. His/her comments are always a distraction from the main update of discussion. Their major objective is to divert attention of all updates to ‘corruption in Nigeria’ their favorite topic, and will never mention a corrupt member of the APC or other persons associated with the opposition.

7. Their comments are incoherent to previous comments of theirs as they are quick to switch stands depending on the update of discussions at the time.

8. He/she reminds you that only the Ijaws are in support of Mr. President’s administration even when arguing with his/her own kinsman.

9. Any of his/her kinsman that is not Ijaw that supports Mr. President is paid to do so. While the stooges are patriotic.

10. He/she on one hand will say Mr.President is a weak President and in another hand that he is a dictator….

11. He/she will claim the President is not fighting corruption but will claim any Nigerian that is prosecuted is witch hunted because of fall out of favour with Mr. President.

12. He/she cannot make developmental reference to compare with the APC ruled states at any given time because in truth, they have none that is favorable.

Obiagelli: Where are the shoe and bags making factories, where is the processing plants? The butcher/slaughter house would always sell to wherever the market is, as it stands now kpomo is the only market.
The amount of time you spend on NL talking about things you know very little about, wud have been more than enuf for you to set up at least 1 small Kpomo Processing Factory. Don't you agree, dear??

HNosegbe: Seriously we need to drop this kpomo culture. We can develop a major revenue-earning, productive industry from leather.

I wonder how many bags, shoes and belts caould have been produced from all the kpomo eaten on a daily basis across the country.
I am Guilty, Bros. I admit it. I like dem KPOMOs. Esp those big ones with a lot of meat on one side. Yumming!!.... Though am a Patroitic Nigerian. Am ready to change if d need arises. I think huh

solomon111: I hate threads like this.
Yes,it is inevitable that we will overtake SA in GDP sooner rather than later..
But given the fact that we have more than twice the southafrican population, our GDP will have to grow close to twice the Southafrican GDP to actually match the development of southafrica.
So yes,we will SA very soon, but i don't think it will mean that we will overtake SA's level of development anytime soon.
Yea. You are right. But you guys forget smtin else: even if it wud take a much longa time to catch up with SA in terms of certain Development Index, our much faster growth means much more OPPORTUNITIES. And Opportunities means many newer POSSIBILITIES. Opportunities and Possibities cannot be easily quantifiable. Thats what Investors, Local and Foreign, see. Thats what is causing this much Excitement..
Politics › Re: Nigeria To Replace South Africa In G20 As Economy Grows by taharqa: 11:12am On Sep 12, 2013
Pastor Kun: The size of the Nigerian economy may actually currently be bigger than that of South Africa and this could be established as early as next year when our GDP would be rebased by then and the true size of our economy would be determined. This is because going by the current criteria used to measure our GDP a lot of things are not being captured thus the current figures for our GDP do not reflect the real size of our economy.

That said, even if our GDP is established to be bigger than South Africa's they still remain a far more developed country than us in real terms. Also the size of the GDP of a country[or even per capita income] is an outdated way of determining the level of development of a country. What is currently used is what we call Human Development Index[HDI] which attempts to measure the overall quality of life of the people using various criteria. Using HDI South Africa still stands heads and shoulders ahead of Nigeria.
Using HDI, small Luxemborg would be way ahead of China!!

manny4life: The necessary infrastructure that spurs growth - Human and Capital resources are in abundance. With regard to the infrastructures, I will break it down

Transportation Infrastructures - the road and highway networks across the country is drastically improving, the testament of improved comes from different sources even those acknowledge by critics and foreigners alike. Looking close at the GDP, construction has skyrocketed, roads are being rehabilitated, mass transit systems are being deployed, the railways are being rehabilitated and new rolling stocks are expected to be delivered to the system. The airports are seeing a fresh look, Enugu just recently opened while the 8 cargo centers are coming online soon. The seaports are not to be left out, while works is required, we can best say that with the proposed inter-modal networks and dredging of certain routes, success isn't too far our. On transportation, GEJ scores an B+/A-

Energy infrastructure - I know lots of people are skeptical about the power system in Nigeria, but fear not, changes are undergoing. TCN is coming on-board, PHCN is dissolved already, new DISCOS are coming online, new power-plants are inaugurated including Dr. BARTH NNAJI's plant in Aba (Geometric Plant). Another two years will see a big boom in Nigeria's power supply, and Nigeria can get to where we need be. Furthermore, Nigeria is taking a closer look at the petroleum bill, hopefully they pass it, our energy diversity is gradually coming up - from coal, to natural gas to nuclear (lol), but we're getting there. A recent news showed that the our refineries are getting updated and with Dangote's new quest for refinery license, this will open a new frontier for foreign investment.

I can continue to go on an on, but as you can see, Nigeria is improving. I was reading a foreign report one time, I think it was the economist or so, the report stated that this country that used to live on $1/day now has its middle class income earners rising. What does that tell you? It means that our small/medium enterprises are rising. When it comes to the value of currency, it doesn't really matter as long as the citizens have the spending power. China and Japan are doing the same thing - China purposely devalues her currency to give better buying advantage to its citizens.
Very well said...

Key Point: Nigeria has improved BY 35 PLACES on d Scale of Ease of Cooperate Investment in d last 10 years whilst some powerful countries were even decreasing on the scale. Nigeria already leds Africa since 2011 (for the 1st time) in its attraction of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment), beating countries like SA and Egypt and by a large margin too. On d home front only last week, Dangote alone started d process of investing about $9billion in Nigeria, an amount even higher than d total FDI inflow last year....and d Nigerian Economy is not doing well sm 'people' say huh

so you think within 2-4years Nigeria will increase with 40% to be inline with SA, you must be dreaming, that is almost doubling the economic growth of Nigeria.....What country can achieve that without the necessary infrastructure, and even as well considering the stage Nigeria is at right now, between Nigeria and SA who is declining in Economic growth, is it Nigeria that her Naira Value is now equals 160 to the dollar..? Pls don't deceive yourself biko. although this might happen, but not in the next 15years, when even SA are the biggest Investors in Nigeria at the moment
