Business › Nigeria's Cocoa Production Rises By 28%, Now Largest Non-oil Export Earner by taharqa(op):
Cocoa production in Nigeria, the world’s fourth-largest grower, will increase 28 percent for the main harvest that starts next month, the country’s industry association said.

Output for the October to January harvest will rise to 320,000 metric tons from 250,000 tons a year earlier, Robo Adhuze, a spokesman for the Cocoa Association of Nigeria, said yesterday in Akure, in the western part of the country. Nigeria also has a smaller crop that runs from March to June that usually adds another 35,000 tons, Adhuze said, according to Bloomberg

Nigeria is helping farmers to grow more beans and last year distributed seeds that are resistant to diseases such as Black pod to boost crop prospects by 2015. Demand will probably outpace supply for a second year in the 12 months starting next month as production falls in West Africa, the main growing region, and consumption increases.

“Black pod disease was witnessed all over, but the impact on production was minimal owing to pest control,” Adhuze said.

Ivory Coast is the biggest grower, followed by Ghana and Indonesia, according to the London-based International Cocoa Organization. Cocoa prices in London climbed 17 percent this year.

Gbawe: Sad bunch of people. When the President you all support clannishly is corruption and mediocrity personified, with not much genuine achievements to his name, why will you mumus not be here dancing azonto? Clever Nairalanders and Lagosians will get the 'gist' because I do not have to point out the obvious to them that GEJ fans, always 'thick' by nature, can never discern. cool cool

danikik7: Nigeria is defficient in space technology /exploration. Alll these project is based on buying, construction and installation from Japan. At the end Nigeria is being feed with third class information like Surrey in UK does.My candid opinion is that ,it should be put on hold until we have bright boys from our tertiary institutions in conjunction with well articulate Profs in the field to build and propergate the agency to our test. For now all I see are more fat-cats that will bleed the nation in the name of we shall soon get there with nothing to show for it. They can commense if the Agency has the capacity to buld at least 70-80% of its satellite and deploy them into orbit without foreign aid.

Ewudan. The just concluding Privatisation of d Power Sector in Nigeria is d Largest Privatisation Programme in Africa (according to a study of d Harvard Business School) and also one of d Largest anywhere in d world. Add to that, d even more complicated processes that went into Reforming d Sector (eg, establishing and structuring such critical bodies as NERC, Bulk Trader, Gas Aggregator, EMS, TCN/Manitoba, Debt Company, etc; Signing of d various Gas and Power purchase Agreements; Providing part Gas Sales Guarantees; Payment and Disengagement of about 50,000 workers at once; etc, etc), and you wud get the extent of the complexity and Significance of d Programme- assuming you hv any remaining functional cells in that corruption laden brain of such, that is..

The Privatisation and Reform of d Power Sector, just concluding, is actuali one of d Greatest and most SIGNIFICANT Achievements in the history of this country. It is also about sm of d most Complex undertaking ever done by any Govt in Nigeria or Africa, even. It is a VERY BIG deal.

Great job... If this actuali happens, GEJ wud have suceeded in Entirely Rehabilitating and bringing to life more than 3000kms of Comatose/near Comatose narrow Guage rail lines (PH-Maiduguri, Lagos-Kano and their many Spur Lines) in less than 3 years- a feat that previous Govts have FAILED to do in more than 25 years regardless of money and effort spent. These, and the New Standard Modern Rail Lines (Aladja-Ajaokuta-Ore-Warri, Abuja-Kaduna, Abuja Metro, Lagos-Ibadan Lines) under various stages of construction, as well as Feasibility Studies for about 10 new proposed Routes.... The Entire Eastern, Eastern NorthCentral and NorthEastern Nigeria may now be OPEN for more business, in terms of Goods and People, after a reali long time. God bless this President..

Symphony007: wow. Taharqa. Congratulations on your appiontment as the new commisiioner of police in rivers. Because apparently, you know more about rivers state police command orders than even the spokesperson who clearly state in the article that at no time did they order policemen to block the gates of the government house. But here you are telling us that otherwise. You are just too much.
Oh, Thank you very much. You are very kind. I reali appreciate this..

Symphony007: cheesycheesycheesy which job? Given to them by who? When their commisioner has already denied them. Did you read the article at all? Who gave them the directive to stop the elected governour of rivers state from entering brick house?
Their job was to stop EVERY trouble maker from accessing that already closed area. The Gov, and his Crowd of hundreds, qualify for that definition, hence their action. And they did it pretty well, in deed... Get it?
Politics › Re: I Am Not Afraid Of You ––governor Lamido Dares Jonathan by taharqa: 5:30pm On Sep 13, 2013
Gbawe: We all know Lamido is sure of himself because GEJ is a highly unsophisticated President political stakeholders have all worked out. GEJ can only flex muscle against Southerners like Amaechi and Sylva. Lamido knows he is on solid ground playing 'brave man' against 'lame Duck' GEJ.
Oh! SHUT it, Clown. Nyako, Gov of Adamawa, has since been rendered Politically USELESS even more than Ameachi. He controls almost no political structure in Adamawa, and even lost a State House of Assembly Election a few months ago in his own Local Govt. Most of d Ministers and officials GEJ have sacked are Northerners. When d time comes to deal with Lamido and his Co-travellers, they wud be dealt with; and then you LOSERS can do what you are used to doing: whine, cry, shout meaninglessly on d pages of Newspapers and online on NL, etc...

If truly this policemen acted on their own then i'm not surprised. It's the consequences of seeing their boss embarrase the governor on a daily basis, also the free hand thy've been given. one day headlines will read "policeman slaps gov. Ameachi"
Those Policemen were doing their jobs...and they did it very well and according to d Rules

take dat: I do not dispute the fact that the information would have been brought to his attention, but it would be categorized as 'unofficial'. The last I checked, freedom of movement still exists in the constitution. My argument still remains that, if the police had gone through the 'official' process of informing him ahead as the chief security officer of the state or his security aides, that would have trounced Amaechi's sympathy moves.

Politics › Re: Was Amechi Prevented From Entering Government House? The Truth! by taharqa: 11:48am On Sep 13, 2013
take dat: Brainless m0ron. If the Police had informed him ahead, they would have said so while stating the reason the road was barricaded and why the Governor wasn't allowed access. They was no reference to any prior communication between both parties in the statement released by the police.

"When contacted on the matter, the state Police
Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Angela Angela Agabe (DSP), said she had aware of the incident. She explained that the police had to barricade Forces Avenue because the New PDP secretariat was opened there by the Abubakar Baraje PDP faction. The new secretariat is located on the same road."

“The governor has other routes to get to the
Government House. So I don’t see how this should be an issue,” Agabe said.
