I didn't say I was denied. I have just not received any message from the VO up till the supposed date of resumption. I am sponsoring myself and I applied from Nigeria. Ill be back to Nigeria next week.

Hello Guys,

I applied for a study permit (Online) on February 22 to resume this April (University of Manitoba) but got delayed. I have however deferred my resumption to September 2016.

I am married with 2 children with over 8 years work experience in the Banking sector. I paid the total tuition fee as well as have additional USD 18K in my domiciliary account for upkeep and another NGN 6m in my personal savings account.

I am currently in Canada on Vacation (Second visit) with my family.

I will like to know my chances of getting the study permit approved and if/ How I can forward the confirmation of my resumption deferral to the VO.

Siga: ...ur passport can be renewed before expiration....u will be given a study permit at the Port of Entry...so, no wahala...all u need is at least 6months validity ...

Hey Siga, always to the rescue. My reason for asking is that if i re apply in April 2013 for the Fall semester which should run from September 2013 to August 2014, My Passport would have expired and I was made to understand that you must make sure your travel document is valid for the period of your stay before applying for a visa.

I wish to re apply for the Fall 2013 semester but my travel document (Int'l Passport) will be expiring in July 2014. Is it possible to proceed with renewing the passport before its expiration? If it is, how much does it cost?

I dont want to give any opportunity for another refusal.

Siga: ...the only thing withheld was the sponsorship letter addressed to them...me being me...I always make copies of everything I do...so, I have the replicate my application form, then ref the initial sponsor's letter...returned same exact docs i used the first time....then, add a co-sponsor with a letter of sponsorship listing all his investments, houses and business written by his lawyer on behalf of him , without any docs backing all his listed investments ooo....the lawyer just wrote, if all those investment papers and property papers are needed, they should contact his office and it will be sent ASAP.....then coupled with his bank statement....

@ Siga, thanks. This is much better. But i don't know why they have to retain my police report, transcript, intro from previous employer and sponsor letter in my case. Anyway, I'll just get another sponsor letter from the new sponsor and back it up with some other documents. Then ref the documents currently with them. I pray it works out.

Sorry I dont understand. do you mean you reproduced another set of documents not returned with your first application? or you just sent back the ones returned to you with an additional sponsor?

Siga: @tainzo...I dey here my bro....it happened to me, but in my case...I used one sponsor initially, then add another one for the second application....i just refire same doc for the first sponsor...I changed nothing...just add my co-sponsor bank statement and letter from his lawyer...thats all

@Siga, I don dey find u since nah cos you said you had same issue back then. lol.

Anyway, the reasons were that

1. i did not show i had sufficient funds to cover my studies without working in Canada.
2. I did not show i had enough funds to cater for myself and family member following me to canada.
3. Sponsorship not credible.

I think my fixed deposit certificate which had the bulk fund was ommited and my savings account was used to appraise my application.

I did not indicate that any family member was joining in my trip.

my application was self sponsor but i put my sister as additional sponsor. I have also decided to add another sponsor alongside her. what do you think ?

please do i have to send all those docs again?

can someone give a clue when some of your docs are withheld by CDHC? I am to re apply this wk and some of my docs are still with them( transcript, police report, intro from previous employer and letter of sponsorhip)

do i need to re produce them again?

Siga: ....I am a living example of a month's case...I reapplied a month after I was refused and I was given the visa ....but, I dont know how it is now....I am not sure there is any statement on cic's website that says u cant reapply anytime....so far u can present a solid case....remember, u pay for these applications...so, no wahala, unless cic kicks against it....now, on ur wife being in US....a friend that applied sametime I did had same case....he was actually refused and was asked why his wife didnt file for him to come US....that he wants to use Canada as a path to enter US...he was refused ooo....but then again....things have changed....

Big up bro. You are a step closer to getting your TRV. You ll be given a reason then you can defend it and represent your application. Like myself, I contacted CDHC and was informed that i can reapply anytime. Maybe you can do same. Dont see the cup as half empty but as half full ok.

from my experience here some one was denied for September entry and he quickly reapplied and he was granted.In your own case.you are financially ok,you case is more of financial,if you state that you are married,they will like to know especially how your wife is going to cope while you are in canada,then your fixed deposit,i suggest you close it and transfer to the savings account and make sure that you provide document on that,if you are legally married,marriage cert and birth cert is also important,even if your wife USA passport still bear her maiden name,i think marriage cert can solve that one,if she is currently working,her pay slip,utility bills and statement of account will also play an important role

I did submit my marriage as well as birth certificate along side that of my wife. I also stated my wife is a nurse but was silent on where she resides at the moment. I however do not think it will be wise to state at this point that she's in the US except if you have a better reason why I should. Like I said earlier, she's currently in the process of changing her name and getting her US passport and as such may not be able to produce this document.

Upon examination of my application pack, we felt the visa officer might have missed the fixed deposit letters given their position ( Stapled underneth my sisters marriage cert)and the refusal statement (Inadequate fund). I still have the deposit running with more recent letters, do you think I should still liquidate the investments into my savings account or present the recent letters with a comprehensive write up stating how I intend to fund my stay with my bank statement and fixed deposit investment letters acting as proof?

Aight bro, lets hear your opinion. I'm all ears especially on re applying next week. My wife is currently in the process of changing her name and getting her US passport in her new name. Felt it will complicate issues.

If canada no accept, I have the option of US green card next year.

So pleaae let all the advice pour in pleaaase!

Cus i believe these wld be main factors since it was just a financial reason that was given. they wld consider dese factors seriously b4 giving out the visa.

self sponsor with my sister written concent to fund any other expences that may arise. Amount in fixed dep was N3m. My program is a certificate in intl mgt (One year) I applied alongside a friend with almost same amount and he was granted. Hard luck eh? lol
I got married in August, same month i applied and my wife is based in US (green card, I know some will advice i join her instead as i should get my US docs by next year God willing) She is a nurse and i did'nt and do not wish to include her payslips.

I hope this answers your questions.

Anyway, I am to re apply by wed next week with an account balance of over N5m now. Total cost of my prog is approx N4m (living + tuition).

Make una advice na! which levels? lol

Refusal reasons:

Insufficient financial reasources without working in canada to maintain myself and family members who are accompanying me durring studies.

I did not state that anybody was travelling with me and i also realised that my fixed dep letters which had the bulk fund were attached to my spouce doc leaving me with just about 1.7m in my savings account.

I wish to reapply next week and will gladly welcome any advice from the gurus in the house.

congrats to all who got their med invite today. I wasnt so lucky this time as my application was rejected. I'll however want to re apply. Can i do so by next wk? I dont know the reason yet as i m on my way to pick up my package.

Hello house,

I droped my package on the 27th of august but it got to CDHC on the 28th. I understand that applicants for september are being invited for medicals now but I'm yet to be notified by the VAC.

I'm a little worried cos I'm supposed to resume in Jan 13.

Can somone pls give a hint/ advice as to why my application is taking long so i can make decisions.
