The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 3,500 new cases of HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancers are diagnosed in women and about 16,200 are diagnosed in men each year in the United States.

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the U.S. Of more than 100 types, about 40 can spread through direct sexual contact to genital areas, as well as the mouth and throat. About one dozen types of HPV cause cancer, including oropharyngeal, cervical, vaginal, vulvar, penile and anal cancers.

Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu on Sunday escaped an assassination attempt in which four other people were killed. Recounting his experience, Tinubu - who was unhurt - said attackers shot at his convoy while he was on his was home from a tour of waste collection operations and security arrangements in the city. Police Commissioner Mike Okiro blamed the attack on the Yoruba Oodua People's Congress, held responsible for several outbreaks of ethnic violence over the past two months in which some 100 people have died, AFP reported. Police have arrested two prominent people in connection with the attack on the governor, `The Guardian' said. Tinubu said the attack reinforced his position that the state needed at least 20,000 additional policemen to safeguard life and property of Lagos' eight million residents, `The Guardian' reported.

There are also numerous reports since September 1999 of persons alleged to be OPC members being arraigned before judges (Guardian 14 Sept. 1999; ibid. 3 Nov. 1999; ibid. 18 Dec. 1999; 18 Jan. 2000). According to the Guardian, seven persons who were arraigned for the attack in December on Lagos State Governor Tinubu's convoy confessed to being members of Adams' OPC faction (18 Dec. 1999).

Former governor of Lagos state and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) chieftain, senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has spoke on his attendance of the Democratic Party Convention in the United States of America.

Controversy had trailed his attendance, as allegations had been that he bought the invitation to attend the convention.

The former governor spoke to journalists upon arrival in Lagos on the issue and the coming elections in Ondo state, one in which his party, the ACN, is keenly interested.

Gunmen in Nigeria Kill a Dozen People, Abduct Others from Mosque

Gunmen in Nigeria killed a dozen worshippers, including an imam, and kidnapped several others from a mosque on Saturday night, local residents said on Sunday, in the latest attack by armed gangs in the north of the country.

Armed gangs, known as bandits, attack communities where security is stretched, killing people or kidnapping them for ransom. The gangs also demand villagers pay protection fees to be allowed to farm and harvest their crops.

Lawal Haruna, a resident of Funtua, in President Muhammadu Buhari's home state of Katsina, told Reuters by phone that the gunmen arrived at Maigamji mosque on motorbikes and started shooting sporadically, which forced worshippers to flee, said AFP.

About 12, who were attending night prayers, were caught in the gunfire and killed, including the chief imam, said Haruna.

"They then gathered many people and took them to the bush. I'm praying that the bandits release the innocent people they abducted," said Abdullahi Mohammed, another resident of Funtua.

Katsina state police spokesman Gambo Isah confirmed the attack and said state-backed vigilantes, with the support of some residents, had managed to rescue some worshippers.

Katsina is among several states in the northwest of Nigeria which share a border with neighboring Niger, allowing the gangs to move freely between the two countries.

Nigeria's military has been bombing bush camps used by the bandits, but the attacks continue, raising fears about the safety of voters who will go to the polls to choose Buhari's successor in February.

In the UK so many Nigerian parents have misplaced their priorities, they rather work 24/7 and make all their monies to build mansions in Nigeria at the expense of their children's lives.

So many Nigerian parents in the UK don't even attend parents' evenings at their kid's school, some can't even help their kids with homework. Some believe their kids are at home and they are safe not knowing who is there with them. Some would rather spoil their kids with money & expensive outfits instead of investing quality time in them.

Nollywood actress Shan George has reacted to the disturbing video of her colleague, Hank Anuku.

Kemi Filani news reported earlier that Hank Anuku was in the news over an alleged disturbing video of him.

In a video which made rounds, the ‘Action thriller’ actor could be seen roaming the streets in tattered clothes looking mentally unstable.

The video which was uploaded on Twitter had generated mixed reactions.

While some tried verifying the authenticity of the video, others called on the Actor’s Guild to see to him.

From the comments on social media, many attributed his unstable behavior to drugs.

And the civil servants working in the ministries, agencies, etc.

Teachers, Lecturers are really underpaid in this country.
