So let every man, woman and child embrace their own corrupt saviour But let's stop selling porkies to each other about the moral uprightness of incorrigible candidates
Had I been contacted, I could have pointed out that Peter Obi simply appointed a company implicated in the Bahamas Leaks as secretary in 2005 . Yes I am referring to a company that specialises in embedding subsisting entities like Next International, in briefcase-companies, for the sole purpose of tax evasion.
If you know how these things work, you know. Public Service Announcement done
nedu666: Does nigeria have the technology to process lithium Does nigeria have the technology to extract lithium Or govt own is to be shouting lithium lithium.
So Nigeria should simply allow unfettered access to its reserves, because it currently lacks the technology to process lithium, huh? There I was thinking that sort of colonial-mentality was sunsetted last millennium.

Kendroid: "Are you aware that the Nigerian Ports Authority is the only Port Authority in the world that has an office outside its country of operation?" So out of 200+ countries around the world, only Nigeria decided to invest in their Port authority outside their country & you see that as a wise decision. LMAO
Fair play to Peter Obi for raising an important issue in what should be a fact-based debate. But...Ghana has a liaison office abroad

zoedew: Considering the population of Nigerians who live in U.K. the typical Nigerian feels more at home there than anywhere else outside the shores of Nigeria.
What say you about those silently japa-ing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia then? UK today, UK tomorrow, as though this is the only country Nigerians migrate to
Onyeama said that there were many strong bonds between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
“The people-to-people contact is there, the religious contact is there and then the solidarity that has been built up as oil-producing exporting countries has also been there,” he added.
“The largest number of Nigerians outside of Nigeria will be found in Saudi Arabia, Nigerians have been coming to Saudi Arabia for generations now, three, four, five generations."
Osei Kwame, another African with more money than sense.
there was a hearsay that the car that Dr osei Kwame Despite brought to come homeat kwadaso got spoilt on the road, but per the thorough investigation Laud tv found out that, though the car had a minor fault after it was taken to washing bay, but after few minutes later it became alright.
RealTrump: An F1 is not that fast on a straight line. What makes dem d king is their cornering ability. 300km/hr is possible but not in that Volkswagen
It can get up to 202 mph (323 kph) if its delimiter is removed.
An average F1 car does 300km/h and they are equipped to not take off. How did your rickety VW remain on the ground @ 300km/h comrade?
He did lose a couple of tyres.
Initial development of the Phaeton, given the internal project code VW611, began with Piëch giving his engineers a list of ten parameters the car needed to fulfill. Most of these specifications were not made known to the public, but a number of them were told to automotive reporters.
One of them was that the Phaeton should be capable of being driven all day at 300 km/h (186 mph) with an exterior temperature of 50 °C (122 °F) whilst maintaining the interior temperature at 22 °C (72 °F).[9] Piëch requested this even though the Phaeton's top speed was electronically limited to 250 km/h (155.3 mph).[6] Another requirement was that the car should have a torsional rigidity of 37,000 N·m/degree.
Where are their own teachers? Why are their teachers leaving teaching and moving to other careers?

Brexit is a major factor
The number of QTS awards to applicants from the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway fell from 4,795 in 2015-16 to just 704 in 2021-22. Reforms would therefore only offset around 15.1 per cent or less than one sixth of the decline
Despite my cautionary notes earlier, I will not discourage anyone who is sufficiently broadminded and good at one of the shortage subjects from applying for the scheme.
There are many schools in the UK where student behaviour is not as challenging as described on this thread, and teaching is a rewarding profession too
girlygirlyMain: Unless you've never lived in the UK, "Sweetheart" na national slang... You go buy coffee, *do you want some cream in there sweetheart?" You wan buy train ticket, "what plan do you want sweetheart?" It's used everywhere in the UK...
You better come up to speed
Calling a female work colleague 'love' is demeaning, a tribunal has ruled.
Using pet names like 'sweetie' or 'babes' is condescending and could be considered talking down to women as if they were children, a judge said.
The ruling came in the case of funeral home manager Mike Hartley who was fired after being accused of making inappropriate remarks to women at work.
TobiAbuja: Several alarm bells ringing here. Firstly Luton is a majority Asian town, you'll be hard pressed to find any white kids let alone any who risk being racist in such a town.
Secondly, let alone a white kid? So this 'person' went into a UK teaching job with such racial prejudices? I just don't believe it.
Thirdly, his first action on his first day was to the head teachers office? Are you for real? No wonder the school lost confidence in him.
Add lastly, 2003 How are we to take this seriously when there is a 20 year old anecdote? Any idea how much countries change over such a time?
Erm..Vincent Uzomah was stabbed by an Asian kid in Bradford.
Uzomah originally from Nigeria just completed a PhD at the University of Salford, and was teaching three days a week at Dixon Kings Academy, a mixed-sex free school in Bradford, West Yorkshire when the event happened.
Uzomah recalled he prepared a final message to his wife and three children as he thought he was dying as he laid bleeding on the classroom floor.
The boy, of Asian origin, had racially abused Mr Uzomah, who is black, before stabbing him with a knife he had taken into school after a row about him using his mobile phone.
tony9k: I saw his post on a whatshap forum last week and sent it to a friend who has been a teacher in the UK including the town under reference (Luton) for over ten years. The first thing he said is that the mode of enforcement of discipline for students in the Uk is completely different from Africa so any african in the UK will regards the discipline as lax. The treatment of children and young people is also different, An example he said is that corporal punishment (flogging) in african schools is basically abuse (child abuse) which africans (including some children) regard as right.
Apart from that Luton town schools generally are regarded as below average in terms of behaviour in the UK. A town close by - Harpenden - has 3 schools which are state schools where their behaviour is exemplary. In any school, especially the poorly behaved ones the critical issue is their behaviour management policy so if children are disruptive - throwing chairs making unnecessary noise etc they are warned and after 3 warnings are taken out of the class so others can learn. In each class there are a minority of students who are regularly disruptive and they can be sanctioned if persistent - from staying behind after school for 1 hour (detention) to exclusion for a few days to permanent exclusion.
It should also be noted that the attitude to teachers posted to schools temporarily (Supply Teacher) is different from a permanent teacher as students are more disruptive if the teacher is Supply.The narration appear as an exaggeration both from the behaviour of students (calling a teacher idiot and the racist language) and the authorities (the school will not condone such behaviour);
Like in the outside society you cannot touch anybody without permission so the sanctions approved is detention (staying behind during break, lunch or after school depending on the severity of the offence,
The poorly behaved students are a minority and the key issue is how the school authorities manages them
You are right, Luton has some pretty shitty schools. As someone who has been an insider, I am largely in agreement with what you have written here.
Still, I think anyone contemplating a teaching career in the UK needs to come prepared. I have counselled not a few broken souls whose mental health was shot, after a stint in the profession, during my time.
A 14-year-old who stabbed a teacher in a racially-motivated attack and then bragged about it on Facebook has been given an 11-year sentence. Katie Razzall has this exclusive interview with the teacher, Vincent Uzomah, who says he has forgiven his attacker.
Promzy99: Na to just use better knock reset dia head... What kinda rubbish is that...
Are there no CCTV cameras in d class rooms?
In general, no. GDPR rules place a huge burden on any organisation collecting data in an educational setting, and most schools simply do not have the capacity to meet the conditions required.
Certain United Kingdom based boarding schools will storm Nigeria in January in a hunt for talented students enrolment.
The session with parents anxious to see their wards receive education in the UK will hold at The Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Saturday January 14, 2023.
Tagged “UK Boarding Schools Week”, the exhibition is in association with the UK’s Department for International Trade and organised by Mark Brooks Education.
The leading schools and organisations taking part are Aldenham, Badminton, Bishop’s Stortford College, Box Hill School, Cardiff Sixth Form College, CATS Global Schools, Cognita and David Game College, Dean Close. Others are Dulwich College, Fragomen, Haberdashers’ Monmouth, Malvern St James Girls’ School, MPW Colleges, Nord Anglia Education, St. Andrew’s College, Cambridge, TASIS, Truro High School for Girls, and Wycliffe College.
Cory Lowde of Box Hill School relives his experience with students from Nigeria.
“I am particularly excited to welcome students from Nigeria, because of the way they contribute to our school community… getting stuck into adventurous activities and excelling on the sports field. And then bringing a sense of responsibility to our community. They really add to the well-being of everybody that they come into contact with.”
Another Head, Shona Norman of Woodbridge School commended Nigerian students for the way they excel in sports and academics.
“We have always had a number of Nigerian students over the years and they always settle very quickly.
“In my experience Nigerian students really want to contribute to the wider life of the school. They are not just talented and hard-working academically, but I also find that they benefit from co-curricular opportunities such as drama, sports and music.”
Commenting on the strong pastoral care at his school, Mr Lowde says: “I think we are particularly attractive to West African students because first and foremost we are a family, we do focus on the individual. All the concerns that parents might have are concerns for us as well.”
Why Pele remains the greatest footballer of all time
...Pele was in his prime between 1958–1970. Football was different then. The ball was considerably heavier compared to today. The quality of the pitches and clothing was nowhere near as advanced as today. Two other factors were important. Offside laws were more stringent during his time. More importantly, red and yellow cards were only introduced in the 1970 World Cup! Liberal hacking of forwards was the norm during Pele’s career. The disgusting fouls he received against Portugal in the 1966 World Cup which caused him to hobble through most of the match, as substitutions were not allowed at that time, is one of football’s ugliest scenes. The conditions were different and even difficult compared to today.
Another unjust and inaccurate allegation is that Pele’s goals were mostly scored in “friendlies”. We need to understand that football was different then and friendlies had meaning. Indeed, Santos FC have put out a statement saying that these supposed friendlies were official matches.
Few dieticians back then. Fewer physios. No Analytics to show how to dominate or work the field. People ask why Pele did not play in Europe, forgetting just how rampant racism was across the continent. Pele was the GOAT - no arguments
P.S - You can count on the Nintendo/Indomie generation to think otherwise.
iykofias: Pele had some unaccounted goals because he played in so many exhibitions/tour matches around the world against amateur players that can be best described as ‘farmers’. Yes, he won three World Cup, but that Brazilian team was filled with super talents, he sat out the large majority of the 1962 World Cup. something you can’t say about that Maradona or Messi team.
Pele played at a time when the ball was heavier, when two-footed tackles were still very much in vogue, and the chances of ending up in an orthopedic ward after a match was fairly high. The era of the hard man - you know, miss the ball but not the man
TakeNigeriaBack: My brother, giving Yoruba people their laurels does not mean hatred towards any other tribe. If I notice something good about a tribe, just because I say it does not equate hatred for another tribe. It does not mean I don't value my own tribe either. The problem we have in Nigeria is that we prefer lies to honesty. Honesty will not kill me or kill you. Lets just be honest, Yoruba culture is the strongest in Africa. Does it me I don't value my own tribe? No. I am just looking at the facts and drawing reasonable conclusions.
At no point did I suggest your comments conveyed hatred. If anything, I simply pointed out why it is wrong to impugn other ethnic groups are somehow inferior to the Yoruba.
Moving on, let me ask you this: when did it become characteristic of the Yoruba to indulge in needless chest-thumping? Or how else does one view your claim that "Yoruba culture is the strongest in Africa"? Is that part of the Omoluabi ethos? Or is this a new refrain that helps the lily-livered achieve some kind of natural high?
BanyXchi: while you're almost right, you must never forget when the Yorubas where enslaved after the fall of Oyo empire, they were still thesame amount of ibos being taken through the Bight of biafra. There were more ibos enslaved than Yorubas so why did ibo culture not survive?
First off, I responded to a question about language. The Yoruba were late arrivals in the new world - specific parts of the new world - as anyone who has taken the time to apprise himself with the history of that period should know.
Now to your own poser, the enslavement of the different groups took on many different forms and hence produced a myriad of outcomes. What I am telling you is fact beyond contention.
If you are still at a loss at this point, I would suggest that you take a look at colonialism on the African continent and its attendant consequences. While the British allowed a very small number of Africans to be educated, for instance, the Belgians did not. King Leopold has his own scorched earth policy, which was more brutal and far more inhumane than what obtained anywhere else. Go on, look up the number of graduates the Congo had when it attained independence. Even more, ask yourself why each one of the Portuguese colonies had to wage an armed struggle - and you would understand the conditions which underpinned colonialism, much like slavery, differed from one place to the other.
