Yes o!

But we can still make hay while the sun is still shinning. Factories and heating systems all over the world would still rely on fossil fuel, 'AfroAsian' Countries with poor electric generation would still rely on fuel for over 50 years. With influx of cheap vehicles moving into the continent very soon due to the policy.

(But Ben Bruce like talk than actions sha)
This is where u are mistaken. You see, if the oil market becomes glutted, your oil won't be worth sh!t. And there goes our only source of revenue. Where will the money to buy the "cheap" cars come from. With a relatively high crude price , Fed and state governments are struggling to foot bills.

God bless you ..I always feel bad when I see people who go to BALOGUN market to buy things and resell the call themselves entrepreneurs..I have been a serial entrepreneur for a while now and it's an insult to people like me and our huge vision, ground breaking thoughts and extreme sacrifice we put into taking an innovation from thought to printing (actually my term) to be compared to a hair reseller or tea reseller ..God bless you for this write up
your post reeks of pride. Whoever has the wisdom to observe where price is low...and buys an item there, then finds out where to sell at a higher price is an entrepreneur.....hell....even if you had an idea you thought was great and you failed at it and you go back to your drawing board penniless doesn't make mean you are not an entrepreneur... as failing and learning is a part of business.

There is this south African guy.... Vusi Thembakwayo who amongst other things is also a venture capitalist.
He said he would never give his capital to a business man who has never experienced failure. He said his money is not for an idea that has not been tested

When you say "More Women" are needed in productive and economic sectors, are you trying to LIMIT the participation of Men in such sectors?
- Are you saying Women have been "actively prevented" from participating in those Sectors?
- How does Women participating in Productive and Economic sectors, threaten Men?
- Should Men be prevented from participating in such Sectors simply because you want to force Women (most of whom are unwilling) to bemore in those Sectors?

Mr keyboard warrior try to keep it clean....why are you taking it personal....its just a discussion..its my opinion and what I think my society needs. Now to answer what my thoughts are in relation to the questions.
I run a business with my sister(smart and intelligent BTW)....I've had more than two formerstaff say to my face that they object to having a woman as their boss and that they would prefer to work with me than with her.....tell me if those men sound secure to you. And its even a common saying among some types of men that they will never ever allow their women make more money than them.

-The way you train a female child goes a long way to shape her view of her position in the society. I grew up in the north and you wouldn't see women in the market buying and selling like you'd see down south(that's one if the shocks I experienced when I moved a little south). They are all locked up in their husband's houses as what they call "kulle". Just bear children and bicker with your husband's other wives....that's all they do. No schooling , no economic activities.
Now I don't see any other " active prevention" from participating in the productive sectors than that. And that's the case Emir Sanusi has been advocating that got him into trouble.
-
-We don't have to force women who have grown to accept a lower place in the society as a result of the mental conditioning they received growing up to aspire for more. But the society can do more for the next generation.

monex:
there are so many variants of feminism. well for me, when i talk about gender equality, I talk about equality in dignity and opportunities. I do not mean that women should be encouraged to be men. We all have our roles/obligations to society and these roles aren't same.

it is societal stereotypes (including the some variants of feminism) that makes certain roles women are naturally inclined to play look like inferior roles.

Instead of society to glorify roles like nurturing children that women are naturally gifted towards, society (including some feminists) make it look like the woman is a slave and needs to be empowered to seat at board rooms etc.

I know a girl who quit her job in Nigerian Breweries to teach and nurture orphaned down syndrome kids. That's an empowered lady !!!
I think what every lady should demand from their society is the assurance that her options are open and with no restrictions or glass ceilings whichever path yiu decide to toe. Whether you choose to be a stay at home mom or a boardroom lady, you should support this.
In Nigeria though, more women are needed in productive or economic endeavors. And men should see this not as a threat to their existence or selfworth. Men should have more confidence to accept this. I think rejection of this comes from a place of insecurity.

Gender Equality Can never work!!

- Why is it OK for a man to fight a man but when a man fights a woman all of you shouting gender equality will still go against it

-Why is there a ministry of women affairs in Nigeria and no ministry of men affairs... You all fighting for equality can't see that one abi

There are so many more

We should be fighting for GENDER EQUITY not GENDER EQUALITY... You can never compare your self to a man no matter how hard you try except you want to close your ears while stealing a bell

A woman can't compare with a man... That doesn't mean the man is more superior or important but the role of a man can not be overemphasized

There is a big difference between EQUALITY and EQUITY even all men are not equal not to talk of men and women

Let's support equity and not equality
My guy....in a lot of places and situations...women are discriminated against in the African culture.... even the first world is not "unguilty"of this. This appears in different forms and degrees in different cultures....take for example Saudi Arabia where women until recently were not allowed to vote or drive a car.
Even America allowed suffrage just close to the middle of last century.....so its an ingoing process. You can liken it to the black American situation before The civil rights activism pushed back segregation to an extent.

These rights won't be given without activism and some form of resistance or some form of affirmative action(ministry of women's affairs like you mentioned)
Sanusi said something sometime ago to the effect that; a society that fails to harness the potential of its female population and restricts them to domestic capacity, will achieve half its potential because half of its population is redundant.
Personally I won't raise a daughter with the mindset the OP operates from. I will never give her the chance or treat her to think of herself as a lesser form of human. I will teach her to respect everybody and demand respect as well.
teach her not to be apologetic about being intelligent.
Teach her to pursue her dreams and aspirations no matter how non conforming to the patriarchal expectations of the society.

Why do you think Eminem face looks way younger than that of Dwayne Johnson ... Dwayne is a funny lively guy! ...laughs freely ..whereas on the other hand ... Eminem hardly smiles!

Dont Blame her for not smiling ... She's trying to keep her face tight ...moons away from wrinkles! smiley
Dwayne still looks better than Eminem....ask the ladies. I think Dwayne's wrinkles were caused by strenuous exercise and genes.
But thinking about myself....your theory seems to apply to me sef....I don't smile often(not because of wrinkles sha but because of my dissatisfaction with my dentition) and people think me of certain age bracket lower than my real age....

Today I only seek a loan of 700k to start up a pig farm. Believe me pig farming alone can generate more than 2 billions dollars every year for Nigeria. Many country countries today seek pork to import but the shortage for export high.

All I seek for is an angel investor who can help put me on the map of pig farming. If provides with this loan I promise to pay back 1.5 million in two years with delay. All I need is just a loan and I promise to work wonders with it. Nigeria once had d biggest pig farm in African in Kano state and I believe I can become the biggest pig farmer in Africa if funded pls well meaning Nigerians.
