Most of their industries are in the free trade zones. Also, China has multiple free trade agreements with many nations. Infact China would love to have free trade agreements with every single country. |

ElSudani: Wrong about what? That cassava can do well even in poor soil? I didn't say Nigeria is not the leading producer of cassava in the world. But not every crop is as hardy as cassava which you can do well in poor soil and with little care. Rice production is not exactly like growing cassava. You obviously have never farmed. Cassava does well on good soil and poorly on bad soil. If your land is not fertile, your tubers would be very small. Please ask any farmer. |

ElSudani: China produces more than six million tonnes of cassava every year. That is not bad for a country that doesn't eat cassava as much as we do. I did mention weather and soil if you care to read my reply to you. Rice is a staple in the Chinese diet and they produce it more than any other country in the world. If Nigerians want to eat rice as well and they have the weather and the soil to support it the smart thing to do is to grow it themselves, unless you are trying to tell me rice cannot be successfully grown in Nigeria. That of course will be a lie. You are wrong. Nigeria even with non mechanized farming is number one in cassava production. On the other hand, our government has invested so much into rice with only negative result. It Nigeria would export cassava and other crops we easily produce and in return import rice and wheat without import duty, it's a win win for the Nigerian people. |

Perfectbeing: Export will never be able to counter import if importing things becomes too easy.
Let me ask you a question..
If you could produce a phone and you could also import to sell it for similar amount, which would you do? Consider the fact that you'd have to pay your workers and you'd also pay taxes and consider also the fact that you'd pay import duties. Which would you do? Be honest with yourself.. You are so wrong. Let me reverse your question. If you are Apple and you want to set up an Iphone factory in Africa. Would you prefer a country we zero import duties, where you can bring in parts, tools, machinery and other needful things without cost. Or would you choose a country where your production cost would be increased by import duties? |

AuthenticKing: When Ur-Narmu created the code, he didn't base it on religion. The beliefs of the time didn't create the laws for Ur-Narmu to write down, he created those laws to just control the citizens at the time, religions began borrowing after the time. I don't know if there was a religion in Ur-Narmu's time but the important thing is that his laws weren't based on religion. Hammurabi's code wasn't also based on religion. The laws of Eshuanna weren't. These laws preceded main stream religions. So when you say our understanding of Justice and society is religion, that is not really true. You are not getting my point. The Romans, the Greek and many great civilizations had Secular laws we get that But my point remains that religion came before the secular laws in every civilization. It's impossible to separate secular laws from religious principles. I never said that all laws and codes are religious rather, I said that all laws have religious roots. The human moral code originated from religion. It's true for African, native Americans, Asians, and every society there was religious laws before the secular. Religion both predates and influences the secular. History has no record of any people without a religion. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Existence Of A God Does NOT Solve The Moral Dilemma by tctrills: 12:53am On Oct 07, 2022 |
AuthenticKing: Lolz. Even though the Babylonians and even the king himself was religious, he didn't base his laws on the religions of the time. Let me take back in time again, have you heard of the code of Ur-Narmu too, the laws there seem to be similar to that in the Hammurabi code and Ur-Narmu himself didn't base these laws on any god or any religious figure and it's quite probable that Hammurabi himself copied some of Ur-Narmu's laws.
Humans have always created laws to control people regardless of gods or religion. Religions only capitalized on these laws. You don't seem to get it do you? My point remains that religious laws predates our conventional laws. Today even though must people are religious, we don't base our laws on religion. But at the bedrock of all human law and understanding of justice, and society is religion. It is impossible to see a civilization that had no religion. |

AuthenticKing: Have you heard of the Hammurabi code? Quite brutal like the old testament but it wasn't founded on religion. It's just one example. The Hammurabi code was the law of the Babylonian. First you have zero evidence that it was not founded on religion. We have evidence of Babylonian religion that outdates the code. Just so you know, the Babylonian nation was super religious at the time the codes were written. There is no evidence that the laws in the code did not bear root from religion. Even before the codes were written, the Babylonians had religion. My point remains that even non religious laws evolved from a religious origin. Do some research and you would find that religion in Babylon outdates the code |

Christianity Etc › Re: The Existence Of A God Does NOT Solve The Moral Dilemma by tctrills: 11:55pm On Oct 06, 2022 |
KnownUnknown: My point is people say things but these things are not necessarily true. So maybe Mohammed said an angel appeared to him in a cave but that is meaningless to a person that regards angels as fiction. Maybe Jesus existed and said he was the “son of god” but that is meaningless to a person that regard gods as fiction. If you say miracles exist in your religious stories then those miracles should be possible in the present time. If you make an extraordinary claim you better bring extraordinary evidence.
So, they can say Jesus was the “son of god” but if his father is as real as the leprechaun sitting on my shoulder, what does “son of god” mean except bullshit? The truth in religion does not take away individual believe. If you don't believe then it's meaningless to you. But back to my earlier point, all our laws and regulations that guide modern society are rooted in religion. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Existence Of A God Does NOT Solve The Moral Dilemma by tctrills: 11:52pm On Oct 06, 2022 |
AuthenticKing: No. There were laws that guided humans before religions came, religions borrow their morality from the morals already created by humans and capitalize on them. Religions ain't our first teacher, we humans are. Do you have any evidence of human law before religion or is it just what you believe? From Egyptian to Babylonian and other civilizations we have founded on religion |

KnownUnknown: Mohammed saw an angel says Mohammed or the person who wrote the story.
Jesus Christ was the son of god says the writers and editors of the story
All religions have spiritual origin created by people.
All religions are manmade. All of human culture is man made. All gods are man made. Your god is manmade.
If I were wrong, the gods would holler. However, they remain silent in their nonexistent emails. Whatever the “the lord says” will forever come punt of the mind of man until man is no more and if man is no more, all the man made gods are no more.
The only “God” is the universe that generated us and that we are a part of and that is forever as far as we are concerned. The puny gods “created heavens and the earth”, but wise ones know there is no difference between the earth and the heavens. Stand on the surface of Mars and we are part of the heavens. Stand on the surface of Earth and Mars is part of the heavens. Now I don't see the sense in your early statements. The fact that Jesus Christ and Mohammed did not record their experiences but rather had others do it for them does not mean it did not happen. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Existence Of A God Does NOT Solve The Moral Dilemma by tctrills: 11:11pm On Oct 06, 2022 |
AuthenticKing: Lol, Jesus claimed he was the son of God while Mohammed says Jesus was just a prophet. Why does God seem to tell these prophets different things? Isn't he supposed to be straightforward??
And why should we base our morality on spirits that do not even seem to agree with themselves? I said all these religions have a spiritual origin, I never said all are correct. Just as in our moral lives, there are many incorrect principles, it's same for the spiritual. My point remains that every single human civilization takes root in religion. Religion remains our first teacher and all our modern laws still retain much of the religious foundation even in every so called nonreligious nation. |

KnownUnknown: Even if your claims are taken as true, your conclusion is still wrong. Aren’t religions man-made?
Human laws, rules, and standards were set and are set by humans.
Ifa can give divinations but the divinations still has to come out of the mouth of a man.
Allah can say it’s okay for Boko Haram to do what they do but we have to take Boko Haram’s word for it.
The Arabs said the Quran was sent by Allah but we only have their opinion.
The Hebrews say their god created the world but we are yet to confirm it from the mouth of their god.
The reason why religions had so much sway in early human history is probably because the people who were in charge of observing the heavens and helping to decide sowing and reaping period and thereby create civilization were the ones who organized themselves as Priests and founded religion in order to control said people. For more than 95% of recorded history, human laws, rules and standards were set by religion in every single society and religion is created by humans. Again you are wrong. No religion is manmade. Mohammed saw an angel Jesus Christ was the son of God. All religions have a spiritual origin. |

You cannot throw a country like Nigeria open and hope to win, not even against a country like South Africa, not to mention China and other Asian countries. Nigeria has had one of the most closed economics in the world. How has our industries grown. I am sure you don't know that Africa has the most import restrictive economies yet we have no industries. All the countries you mentioned have free trade agreements with many other countries. You can Google it. The definition of insanity is repeating the same wrong thing over and over again. Wilgrea7: Hello again everyone.
So I think it's about time the issue of morality be properly addressed.
One recurring statement I see theists make, is that without the existence of a God, then morality, or better still, the definitions of right and wrong would be subjective, or a mere matter of opinion.
It is believed that somehow, the existence of a God, would make the issue of morality more straightforward. I beg to differ.
Whether or not we assume a God exists, we still run into a number of problems.
I'm going to take some examples given to me by theists here, as well as some examples of my own, to show why the existence of a God doesn't really answer the questions of morality This your logic is impossible to confirm. Every single society in this world stands on a religious foundation. Much of our laws and societal expectations with set by religions systems. For more than 95% of recorded history, human laws, rules and standards were set by religion in every single society. |

mysticwarrior: The prince of Persia is only mentioned in Daniel 10, a highly apocalyptic (and therefore at least partially symbolic) section of the book of Daniel. Most likely, the prince of Persia is a reference to an evil spiritual entity that wielded authority over the ancient kingdom of Persia.
The prophet Daniel had received a troubling vision concerning a great war (Daniel 10:1). He went into a three-week period of mourning, fasting, and prayer. In response to Daniel’s prayer, God sent a heavenly messenger to explain the vision. However, the messenger was delayed for those same three weeks, as he explains to Daniel: “But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days.
Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia” (Daniel 10:13). Later, the angel speaking to Daniel predicts further fighting: “Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince)” (verses 20–21). Can darkness stand light? |

Wasn't the biblical God already aware before creating Adam the choices and actions Adam would make? The question is, is God aware of the choices we would make? It is not revealed if God has knowledge of our future choices but we are told that he knows the future. I really can't tell if he knows all our future choices.
Why allow Lucifer/Satan a place to deceive them? The question is why allow satan to deceive us? remember, we too are open to satans vices. God wants us to overcome sin and satan. We wouldn't overcome unless we pass through satan's temptations.
Why didn't the biblical God forgive Adam there and then save Himself the stress of having to later kill himself/a part of himself or His son?
How do you know God did not forgive Adam? You don't need to assume. |

You awaken tomorrow to find headlines around the world: Science has definitively proven that no god exists - anywhere in the universe. All the religious leaders concur.
How would your life be different?
Would you lose your job? Would your friends abandon you, or would you abandon friends? In what ways would how you spend your time change? Would your expectations for your future change - for the next day, next week, next month, next year, next decade? Would you suddenly lose talents?
Etc.
Brushing the question aside by claiming such a proof is impossible only ducks the question. Millions of atheists around the world enjoy fulfilling lives without needing a god in it, while many millions cannot envision a life without a god in it. What is it that a god adds that cannot be lived without? These last 2 years had made many of us suspicious of corruption and so much more in the scientific community. We were told to follow the science but we are learning that the science can be manipulated by men. The proof of God is not a science. |
