Yes, they have a high acceptance rate for Nigerians. Yes, in general WAEC can be used for diploma programs but read the program-specific requirements. WAEC certificate can serve as both high-school transcript and certificate. Marike2: Pls who is applying for May 2024 at Conestoga College, let's rub minds together abeg! Select 'No' then Rapujoshua: Yes my program has Co-op program but it is optional, so it is not stated on my acceptance letter. And I will want to take the co-op program. Do I need to take a snap of where it is started on the website and upload there. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by technix: 3:47pm On Jul 15, 2023 |
Does your program have a Co-op/internship? If yes, you can upload the page of your acceptance letter that has the Co-op letter. If not, then go back to the questionnaire on your visa application portal, and choose 'No' for the part that asked if work is an essential component of your study. Rapujoshua: While my filling my visa application, it demanded for a document that indicates that a work component is required for my program. I did not receive any such documents from University. I do not know what to upload there.. I only have my acceptance letter, which I uploaded on the acceptance letter slot |

You can start by filling the questionnaire on IRCC website first, then a personalized list of documents will be generated. I am assuming that the sponsor is a student. So, you will additionally need a letter of explanation (SOP), letter of invitation from the sponsor (if the student is already in Canada), proofs of relationship (birth certificates, marriage certificate, pictures, etc), evidence of studentship of sponsor (if the student is already in Canada), evidence of home ties (work leave letter, property, etc.) and proof of fund (bank statements, pay slips, etc.) GloriaBekee: Please ooo my seniors!! Yes, you can. The sponsor can explain that they did the GIC for your education. oyix: Please I'd like to ask if I can use a sponsors GIC as part of my PoF documents. |

Your US visa denial doesn't affect your Canadian visa application. Ogundare26: Please I need your advice on this I was denied a US visa this week and I already gained admission to a college in Canada before I even gained admission to the one in US, will getting a Canadian student visa be hard for me or not. And also I would really appreciate it if someone can put me through the process because I already wasted 2 years since I finished secondary School waiting for US student visa. Thanks |

It's advisable to apply at the same time if you have the required fund. One year goes so fast. Just show enough evidence of relationship and home ties. nues1769: Please I need help I got admission to scheridan college for 1 year graduate certificate and I am about to apply for visa Can I apply with my spouse at the same time for visa or I should wait until I get my own visa . It depends. If you have a sponsor or an assured source of income during study, then provide the tuition and living expense for a year (with extra). If you don't have a sponsor or an assured source of income from Nigeria while studying, then provide the tuition and living expenses for the two years (with extra) Belinda32: Goodevening , pls what’s the least amount someone going for a 2years programme should have as POF? |

Hi, It doesn't. Please deduct the acceptance fee and submit the receipt. You can add an additional 5,000 to 10,000 as miscellaneous to the POF. 7,000 + 10,000 + misc deeteeneey: hello everyone, Please I need your opinions on deducting acceptance fee paid from available POF, does this negatively impact the application?
Example: Tuition = 10,000 Acceptance fee = 3,000 Can 7,000 + 10,000 (living expenses) be shown as POF?
Thank you |

Sorry to see this. I would advise that you apply for GCMS note before you reapply. However, the VO may not be convinced that your in-law will sponsor your education for 3 years. tosin481: hello great people in the house, I have been following this thread, but this is the first time am asking question.
My study visa just got refused and am really disappointed. the reason given was;
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/section-216.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors: • Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).
Submitted application on 23rd May Biometrics on 31st May Refused on 8th June
I am going for a 3 years program. My program resumes in September, 2023 i submitted evidence of my contribution as POF which is N5m I also used my in-law as a sponsor and his employment documents and pay slip was included.
Any advice on what more I could do to convince visa officer and have my visa approved.
Am in the process of re-submitting another application. I really trust God to get approval this time around. Thank you and God bless you |

Lol. There are many other things to say than 'I can't eat anymore because I am missing my spouse ' within a month of arrival. The question would be, why didn't you apply together before? To God be all the glory.
We applied as family of 4. All children request for passport has dropped about an hour ago but spouse's own is yet to drop. Is there any reason why dependents came in first? any need to be worried?
Should i send them webform or wait for a day/two, if nothing then i send webform(s)?
I will be glad to hear from you all shortly.
The tension is high. we need to plan how to send passports and move.
Thanks, in anticipation.

Hi, You don't need a heading for your husband. He would also write a separate short letter to explain why he is accompanying you. There will be a place for him to upload that. Please I have a question I am putting together documents for student visa application and I want my husband and child to come with me. In writing my SOP, do I make a column or heading for my husband to explain himself too Or will he have a separate SOP.
Please note he is the sponsor so I will be definitely mentioning him in my SOP as I'm the primary applicant. |

3. Not necessarily, except for express entry. In summary, you can start the renewal process immediately. You can use the current passport for the application, and submit both the current and the new passports when IRCC is about to approve your visa (they will request for your passport to be sent). Then, the length of validity of your visa will be based on the new passport. If your visa is approved before the new passport comes out, then your visa will expire in November. In this case, you can travel with both passports and extend your visa in Canada. OkukuOne: @Makano, Skull4eva, lizzygirl, estake, survivex, technix, DrAFOguns, jimogh111, Shommyface, SweetJJ, drokiri, et al,
I have a question w.r.t. passport validity.
1. If a passport is to expire in November this year, and you applied this month, what are the pros and cons of the status of the passport?
2. Is it better to start the renewal of the passport that will expire in November or allow the visa to come out before the renewal of the passport?
3. Must a passport have more than six-month validity before a visa is issued on the passport?
please, if you have an idea, kindly give flesh to the above concerns.
Thanks, in anticipation. |

Is this from your experience? Many people have been approved here with pregnancy. Moreover, it will be declared during medical exam. lawfree638: My only advice, if you want your wife to give birth in Canada and that child automatically becomes a citizen, ensure your SOWP application is spot on and also dont mention she is pregnant. the chances is it will not be approved or it will be delayed.
Please do whats right for your unborn child. I pray and hope your wife gives birth in Canada at least!
All the best sir! |

Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by technix: 4:12pm On Mar 15, 2023 |
It depends on the length of study and the validity of passport. If your program ends after Feb 2025, then the validity of the visa would have been longer. In this case, you can renew the visa/study permit while in Canada even if your visa expires in Feb 2025. If your program ends before Feb 2025, then the validity of your passport wouldn't have made much difference cos you would be applying for a postgraduate work permit immediately your program ends. Iykevirgo: Good afternoon guys,
Please, I'd like to confirm how many years IRCC usually gives for Study Permit.
I'm going for a 1year program, and the Visa expires same time as my passport, which is in Feb 2025. So I was wondering if the visa validity would've been longer if my passport expiry date was farther. |

Ermm. Please confirm number 3. Kemionidi: 1. Yes you can apply for sowp after 1 month. 2. Why not allow her to give birth in Nigeria and totally settle and then when you’re financially capable you can now apply for the Sowp. You want her to give birth in Canada and then allow her to go back to Nigeria when she’s nursing the baby. I don’t know how that’s possible cus it’s still same expenses 3. No, application for Sowp is different from medical tourism. |
Travel › Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by technix: 3:55pm On Mar 15, 2023 |
1. Yes, especially if you didn't emphasize much on using her as home ties. Even if you did, I think the pregnancy can allow you tell a compelling story. Also, try avoid emotional stories like you have started missing her within a month. 2. Well, you should be able to get her an insurance or add her as a dependant to your school's insurance if possible. It may also depend on how old the pregnancy would be when she arrives. 3. Yes. The visa on her passport can allow her go back and forth. Exline101: Hello my Good people , I have few questions:
1. Is it okay to file Sowp for my family within 1 month of my arrival in Canada
2.My wife is pregnant and I would want her to give birth here in Canada and later return back to Nigeria (Reasons she will return back to Nigeria is because the bills will be much on me as she won’t be working during her nursing period)maybe after nursing period in Nigeria she can return back to Canada with my kids .
3. Lastly can she be allowed to use SOWP for all these I mentioned above without any issue? Like using it to give birth and also going to back to Nigeria and returning to Canada again . |
