Yes my program has Co-op program but it is optional, so it is not stated on my acceptance letter. And I will want to take the co-op program. Do I need to take a snap of where it is started on the website and upload there.

Does your program have a Co-op/internship? If yes, you can upload the page of your acceptance letter that has the Co-op letter. If not, then go back to the questionnaire on your visa application portal, and choose 'No' for the part that asked if work is an essential component of your study.

You can start by filling the questionnaire on IRCC website first, then a personalized list of documents will be generated.

I am assuming that the sponsor is a student. So, you will additionally need a letter of explanation (SOP), letter of invitation from the sponsor (if the student is already in Canada), proofs of relationship (birth certificates, marriage certificate, pictures, etc), evidence of studentship of sponsor (if the student is already in Canada), evidence of home ties (work leave letter, property, etc.) and proof of fund (bank statements, pay slips, etc.)

If you have a sponsor or an assured source of income during study, then provide the tuition and living expense for a year (with extra).

If you don't have a sponsor or an assured source of income from Nigeria while studying, then provide the tuition and living expenses for the two years (with extra)

You can add an additional 5,000 to 10,000 as miscellaneous to the POF.

I have been following this thread, but this is the first time am asking question.

My study visa just got refused and am really disappointed. the reason given was;

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/section-216.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).

Submitted application on 23rd May
Biometrics on 31st May
Refused on 8th June

I am going for a 3 years program. My program resumes in September, 2023
i submitted evidence of my contribution as POF which is N5m
I also used my in-law as a sponsor and his employment documents and pay slip was included.

Any advice on what more I could do to convince visa officer and have my visa approved.

Am in the process of re-submitting another application.

It's not necessary. The birth certificates of your children will show that you are the parents.

Hello Nairalanders. My children bear their father's first name as their surname, I'm at the point of applying for visa for my self and the kids. Do we need to point this out somewhere in our application or the officer will know?

Note: I and their father bear the family surname.

Lol. There are many other things to say than 'I can't eat anymore because I am missing my spouse ' within a month of arrival. The question would be, why didn't you apply together before?

If the emotional stories come two or three months after arrival, it's understandable. I am not a VO though, lol, just talking from the cases I have seen.

You don't need a heading for your husband.

He would also write a separate short letter to explain why he is accompanying you. There will be a place for him to upload that.

I am putting together documents for student visa application and I want my husband and child to come with me.
In writing my SOP, do I make a column or heading for my husband to explain himself too
Or will he have a separate SOP.

Please note he is the sponsor so I will be definitely mentioning him in my SOP as I'm the primary applicant.

In summary, you can start the renewal process immediately. You can use the current passport for the application, and submit both the current and the new passports when IRCC is about to approve your visa (they will request for your passport to be sent). Then, the length of validity of your visa will be based on the new passport.

If your visa is approved before the new passport comes out, then your visa will expire in November. In this case, you can travel with both passports and extend your visa in Canada.

1. If a passport is to expire in November this year, and you applied this month, what are the pros and cons of the status of the passport?

2. Is it better to start the renewal of the passport that will expire in November or allow the visa to come out before the renewal of the passport?

3. Must a passport have more than six-month validity before a visa is issued on the passport?

My only advice, if you want your wife to give birth in Canada and that child automatically becomes a citizen, ensure your SOWP application is spot on and also dont mention she is pregnant. the chances is it will not be approved or it will be delayed.

Please do whats right for your unborn child. I pray and hope your wife gives birth in Canada at least!

It depends on the length of study and the validity of passport.

If your program ends after Feb 2025, then the validity of the visa would have been longer. In this case, you can renew the visa/study permit while in Canada even if your visa expires in Feb 2025.

If your program ends before Feb 2025, then the validity of your passport wouldn't have made much difference cos you would be applying for a postgraduate work permit immediately your program ends.

1. Yes, especially if you didn't emphasize much on using her as home ties. Even if you did, I think the pregnancy can allow you tell a compelling story. Also, try avoid emotional stories like you have started missing her within a month.

2. Well, you should be able to get her an insurance or add her as a dependant to your school's insurance if possible. It may also depend on how old the pregnancy would be when she arrives.

3. Yes. The visa on her passport can allow her go back and forth.

2.My wife is pregnant and I would want her to give birth here in Canada and later return back to Nigeria (Reasons she will return back to Nigeria is because the bills will be much on me as she won’t be working during her nursing period)maybe after nursing period in Nigeria she can return back to Canada with my kids .
