Hi,

I wouldn't advise you to do WES evaluation. It doesn't seem necessary unless a school asks for it.

Of course, you can mail grad school coordinators of your prospective schools.

Your unofficial transcript should work. Many schools will just specify the required overall GPA or GPA for the last two years.

Even those schools that ask for last 60 credits often mean last two years.

Lastly, you can also reach out to those who graduated from your department before you and proceeded to undertake graduate studies outside Nigeria.

BoluwajiPieters:
Good morning everyone.

I've a little problem with my grad school application and transcripts and I'd like to ask the house what potentials steps I can take to get out of this conundrum. I studied pharmacy from OAU and my overall CGPA is 4.26. The problem is in the fact that, unlike how CGPA is being calculated in other schools of pharmacy and departments in general, the calculation of CGPA in my faculty differs. The GP of 100L doesn't contribute to your total CGPA and each class/level after 100L takes a particular percentage of your CGPA Viz: 200L (10%), 300L (20%), 400L (30%) and 500L (40%). That is, if you had 4.3, 4.3, 4.3 and 4.5 across all levels, your final CGPA will be 10,20,30 and 40% of these grade points respectively. This made my transcript complicated and I'm scared it'll pose a problem during application to schools as interpretation will be difficult. I'd like to ask what the house thinks the way forward will be as I'm considering doing WES evaluation of my credentials to reduce this complexity. I also plan to send mails to grad school coordinators about the whole thing to ask if there are ways to circumvent the issue.

Secondly, unofficial transcript for my faculty sent from the school does not have credit units and contains just courses, course title, and grade obtained. Since most schools tend to specifically request for last 60 (or so) units of academic work, I sensed the lack of credit unit will make the transcript hard to be used for admission purposes. I'd really appreciate submissions as to way to go about it as I'd like to apply against Fall '23 intake.

Thank you!

Yes, you can. But look for graduate certificate, graduate diploma or post-baccalaureate diploma.

It's probably due to the issues they had.

There is no problem, since it was cancelled without prejudice. This doesn't stop him from reapplying.

*But still be sure they didn’t put two visas on the passport due to mistake such that they had to cancel one.

Please my brother applied for Canada student visa using an agent. He said they had issues along the line. His Passort came back with visa and was written 'cancelled without prejudiced'. Please what is the meaning of this?

It's possible, but you will have to check the requirements of each school. Some schools would ask her to take a prerequisite course online first.

As for visa, she just needs to convince the officer about why she is changing discipline and why she wants to do public health.

olutowo:
Good day to the gurus here...happy new month...please o, my wife studied accounting at lautech and shes won know if she can get pgd for public health in any colleges or university in canada...a change of discipline totally...hope if she gets the admission it wont affect her visa application.....thank you all
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix: 5:24am On Mar 03, 2022
This is fine. Just be sure to emphasize it in your LOE and tell the visa officer you have indeed covered the required funds.

** Visa officers don't see things easily at times until you show them or help them with the calculations.

@Bullstriker

Because:
1. Study permit can allow them get a co-op work permit if they are in high school.

2. Some social services and benefits in some provinces will require a study permit.

bullstriker:
Why do you need study permit for kids? they can attend up to high school with visitor visa.

Hi scottish99, you could have done a little research before saying 'this is not fully correct'.

So, there are two types of evaluation: document-by-document and course-by-course evaluations. The former is for equivalency only and doesn't include courses and grades.

Secondly, NOT all schools accept WES, and I am attaching a proof here that McGill University IPN program is one them.

Scott99tish:
This is not fully correct.
Course by Course evaluation WES also request Transcripts from your local school. So, they attach it all to your evaluation with certificate.

I see no reason why some schools won’t accept as it’s fully detailed. More than you doing ordinary transcript sef.

Regards.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix:
Hi,

1. Normally, school application guides advise you pick Yes if she is transferring or have already completed the program, otherwise she should select No.
But if she has a transcript to show for the first semester courses, you can pick Yes.

2. I don't think the birth certificates of her siblings are necessary. You, as her parent, is currently in Nigeria (I believe), thus you are enough for hometimes.

3. Her extensive travel history is a plus. Attach the visa pages and weave an explanation into her LOE that she had always returned to her home country whenever she traveled.

Well posted!

Hello Everyone,
I’m quite new to the platform but been reading a lot over the weekend. Great content and help in here.

Please your wise input from the house.

i am about to submit my daughter’s study visa application, i curious of the implications if i say No to the question “ post secondary institutions” - she is just in her 1st semester and it was not declared in her applications to her Canadian University. Must we declare this? As she wont be asking for credit transfers.

Secondly, i gave birth to her siblings in America, adding their US birth certificates, would that affect home times?

My daughter has extensive travel history to US, UK, Australia. She is also still a minor (16).

I hope i posted this correctly. Pardon any errors.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix: 12:15am On Mar 02, 2022
Some schools don't accept WES.
But if your WES includes a course-by-course evaluation of your official transcript, some schools accept it.

You will have to check the requirements of the school.

By the way, if possible, you could just get a student copy of your transcript from your school and use it for initial application.

chigora:
Please help mw wirh this question. I have evaluated my bsc degree with WES. Can I use it to apply for admission? Can I use it in a place of transcript.

If you mean the letter of explanation for visa, explain how you meet the fund requirements and home ties. If you have any travel history, weave that into your LOE.

But if you mean SOP for seeking school admission, then you can include the experience and skills that have prepared you for the study.

If possible, I would advise you move the money to a commercial bank account and submit the statements of both accounts.

I have read about people who used MFB and got their applications approved. I have also read from someone who said, according to his GCMS note, the VO rejected his application because the statement of account from the MFB was badly typed (different fonts were mixed up).

And if you decide to use MFB statement 'alone' eventually, be sure it is a reputable one.

Hi,

Yes, apply for a study permit for him. He can enter Canada first, and you apply for him at the port of entry. But since he is accompanying the family, you can also apply for him from Nigeria.

Yes, apply for a study permit for the 5-year old too.

Although, both of them can study in Canada with a visitor record when one of the parents is on a study or work permit, it is still recommended to apply for study permits for them, due to different provincial requirements and social services.

jce:
Please house i am about applying for sowp, have an 8year old who is a US citizen, do I apply for study permit for him? You are welcome. The study plan is another name for LOE, it's written in form of a letter too.

So, you have an outstanding tuition fee of 8,807.92CAD to pay. Add 10,000CAD to that for living expense. You need a minimum of 18,807.92CAD in your bank statement. You can include an extra 3,000CAD, if possible. The more fund you have above the 18,808CAD, the better.

pean06:
Thank you for responding I really appreciate this
For the SOP I assumed it’s the study plan and I don’t even know how to go about it.
My program is for 1 year it costs 17,900 CAD I have paid 9,092.08 CAD from it. Amen!!!!! Thank you for praying for me.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix:
This definition was invented by people. The official IRCC website mentions only LOE. See attached proof.

If you check Canadian schools, the guides they give their students for visa also include LOE. I 'haven't seen' where they advised their students to submit SOP for visa. It's either letter of explanation, explanation letter, cover letter, or study plan.

skull4eva:
Sop is what a fresh applicant write. for someone that is reapplying the sop is already there just to add Letter of explanation (loe) to tackle visa officers concerns raised in the first application.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix: 1:14pm On Feb 28, 2022
So, SOP is for school admission, while LOE is for visa application. You can find a contrary definition invented by people online.

But the official IRCC website only mentions LOE, and its function is to explain whatever one wants to explain to the VO. I have never seen SOP on the official IRCC website. I am attaching a proof herewith.

BeejayB:
Sorry … since when is SOP not needed for visa application. Isn’t that the important document to explain your plans and goals to the VO since there’s no interview for Canada study visa.. I think its really needed.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix:
Hi, congrats on your admission.

1. You could still go with the agent, since you paid already. But please vet the details before submission. I am assuming that since the agent works with the school, he/she should have some knowledge.

2. I help with LOE writing and review. You can reach me on scholarmonde@gmail.com.

3. You don't need SOP for visa application. It's only LOE.

4. I can't say whether that is enough or not. Your POF should cover your tuition and a year living expense. If your program is more than a year, you will have to give the visa officer an idea of how the subsequent years will be funded. Gift deed is fine.

5. The history of refusal shouldn't be a problem. Just mention them in your application. It's very important you do.

6. School accommodations are often expensive. If you can afford it, fine. But you can get an accommodation close to the school at a cheaper rate.

7. The prayer warriors can comment on this, lol. May God guide you and make your application successful.

Good Morning,
Thank you guys for your prompt response on Form A May God continue to bless you guys with more knowledge. I used UBA and I was debited within 4 working days, Flywire responded the same day and I got school(Fanshawe) receipt the next day.

I have officially gotten to the stage of Visa application, resumption is in September 2022 by God’s grace. I need help
1. My school required that I apply for admission through an agent and the agent claimed that when I paid for their services I also paid for visa application services—— I have seen people with bad testimonies after using an agent… I will like to know what you guys think about this.

2. I don’t know how to write LOE, I need help with this , who can I reach out to?

3. I don’t know how to write SOP tailored for Visa application

4. My sponsor(my older brother who lives in the US) has about 9 million Naira in his Nigerian account, but 7 million has been in the account since 27th of Dec, will that be enough as POF, if I apply in March or April . Note: he is also planning to send me some money as gift of deeds to my personal account of about 4M so that I can also attach that as POF—— is this a good idea.

5. I also have a history of being refused US visa two times 2018 and 2019.

6. Is applying for accommodation in the school a good planhuh

7. I need prayers from all the prayer warriors here

Gurus in the house….. please I need all the assistance I can get.
Thank you again for your assistance in he past God bless you

Try to clear your browser cookies. You can also switch to a browser you use less frequently. The GCkey should work.

And I wouldn't advise you to upload the remaining files via webform.

Try to compress the file, but be sure the quality is okay after compression.

OR

You can recreate some of your PDFs at the lowest size possible.
Reduce the resolutions of your images (jpg, png, etc.,) to 96 DPI.
Crop your images to remove empty spaces.
Be sure that all the documents you are attaching are indeed 'required'

Yes, you will submit all, although you don't have to make a separate application.

Study permit application is for obtaining study permit when you get to the port of entry.

TRV is for visa (stamped on passport), which will allow you enter Canada.

For example, after your TRV and study permit expire, you have to renew your study permit to continue staying in Canada and studying. But you can decide not to renew your TRV, once you don't leave Canada.

I hope this helps.
