If I am applying for SOWP for my husband and study visa for my kids, do I create an account. for my spouse and put my kids under his or apply for his SOWP separate and create study application's for my kids under my account?

Create account for your spouse and put your kids' under his (of course, you would write an invitation letter for them and sign).

You can also just add all their applications under your own account.

Please all, i was given a PHD visa stamp of 13months because of my passport that will expire at that time. My question is will my wife get that same Duration or they will give her 4 years because the normal stay period should be 4 years?

Because you are sponsoring (inviting) her, her visa (or at least work permit) cannot go beyong yours. So, it will be the same duration. You can both renew together anytime though.

I wouldn't advise that, it's not worth the stress. Moreover you have kids, and birth certificates of kids contain your name and spouse's. Even if one was not married, one could still have claimed common law partner.

Anyway, I am a personal witness. We are in Canada and I didn't advise my wife to change her name.

I am not sure if I understand you very well, especially the passport attachment part. But, did you link your application online? If yes, you can easily access the instruction. Either ways, medical request should come with a single mail ideally, but the system may send email twice and the instruction will still be the same.

I am a newbie and thanks to everyone for excellent contributions being made. Please can someone use Police Clearance Certificate from other state CID office for SOWP application or must it be obtained from Alagbon in Lagos?

Just to confirm if the one got from another CID office apart from Lagos are also acceptable.

I would advise you use it and not pay another money. Moreover, I did NOT submit police clearance for my Study Permit last year nor for my wife's SOWP this year. And BOTH applications were approved.

Well, I want to assume you are expected to resume January 2020, I really do not know much but you should be able to defer for a semester, say till September 2020 instead of 2021. I also believe your TRV will state when you need to enter Canada which is often the date of your TRV expiry. Just make sure you obtain a new letter showing your new start date. I have sufficient funds to apply and my wife as a business person (fashion Designer) does have some funds too but her business is not registered. I am wondering if that could be a show stopper for a successful application? Guys I need your advice to avoid failure.

She doesn't need to submit her personal account statement once you have sufficient fund in your own account. For my wife and kid, I only used the funding letter from my school because the fund is sufficient. I didn't submit any account from her and both were invited for medicals already and passed.

That won't affect your visa approval negatively, once you are able to show financial sufficiency. Also, it is going to be a visit visa for your son, so, it shouldn't delay your application processing time either. Moreover, it is logical that a 1 year old child would need to be with his mother.

Will it ever go to processing or would that be the next time there is an update?

It's normal. You majorly need to be checking on the full application status. If there is any message or new stuff, the status will change from Submitted to Updated. And once you read the message, it changes back to Submitted

Good evening nairalanders! I don't know know the right section to post this hence my reason for posting it here and I also believe irrespective of where I drop my questions, the good people of Canada travel section will help in providing solutions.

My question goes as thus! Having tried every means of going to Canada, then one day while surfing the net, I came about a certain agency based in Canada that claims to recruit job seekers from anywhere in the world based on their bio. I reluctantly messaged them but didn't get a reply.

Then all of a sudden, after months in which I myself already forgotten about them. I got a mail from them which assessed my ability and afterwards, I got a corresponding mail of them claiming to sponsor my air fair and work permit totalling 80% while I will only spend 20% for my documents processing.

My question now is can this be real or a form of scam as I only know a potential employer will only send a job employment letter while the job seeker continues the rest in Nigeria. Thank you all..

Well, I can't say whether it is real or not (even though it seems too juicy to be true when you are not recruited as an expatriate with multinational company experience). I also don't understand any other document processing needed if they will be paying for your permit. Anyway, whatever the case, don't send any money to them, if there will be any processing, they should tell you and you do it yourself (procedures will be there on Canadian official site, so you don't even pay into a scam account, lol). Let them even pay for the document processing while you take care of the airfare yourself. Afterall, you can verify if the permit is genuine online before even travelling. Please watch out!

I received my admission letter to UBc for a thesis based masters last week.
My supervisor said I will get a letter from the dean saying

The annual stipend for a BIMB MSc student is $17,500. Funding for the stipend is typically provided through teaching assistantships (TA; about $12,592) in the Department of Chemistry, research assistantships (RA; at least $4,908) from My supervisor and graduate awards administered through the College of Graduate Studies. Each year you will be able to apply for a TA position. To apply for a TA position, submit your Curriculum Vitae and a letter of interest outlining any previous teaching experience to chemistry.okanagan@ubc.ca. You are also eligible for the Graduate Deans Entrance Scholarship of $5,000.



Can I use this letter for my visa application and will I still need to show a proof of $10000 and tuition fee(8605)

Will I have to get accepted for the teaching assistantship first or it doesn’t matter.

Also, if Yes, I’m required to provide proof,like how much is needed as the account balance (using solely an uncle as sponsor)

You will still be required to show proof of 18,605CAD. However, if the letter from the Dean states that you have gotten the assistantship already or the stipend is automatically paid to all students (or any other statement of certainty), then you can just show a proof of the difference (at minimum) between 18,605 and 17,500

Most universities just have supervisors that are lackadaisical and wont even respect their oath of offices, You can imagine ignoring someone's mail asking for supervisor, either you should reply yes or No, some don't like people who are very steady, i mean disturbing them, they quit all together, .......
Agent wont get you a supervisor, just keep trying, atleast that what you will have to do first before paying for application.

Well, I understand how one may feel by getting no response from supervisors but it may NOT be due to the supervisor's lackadaisical attitude. The fact is that those supervisors get many mails from students and they don't have time to reply. They often reply when they are interested in a student or if the student's mail is well composed and customised (even if there is no space in their research groups). Moreover, there are things to consider in composing such emails in order to facilitate getting a response. You can read through this Quora link for further insights:

I don't think it is necessary. I believe your daughter's birth certificate should bear your name and your wife's. During my app, I used the marriage certificate from the mosque and an affidavit of declaration of marriage. I got a medical request already.
