Wetin concern govt for civil case nah? Does the attorney general work for the plaintiff? Wtf is going on? nlfpmod: |
So....you killed 30 terrorists and recovered 3 guns? The rest dey use cutlass? Are they sharing Okada too? Only 6? It is well with Nigeria !! damilola4162: |
ThankUJesus:Comments like this often make me wonder about the type of people on Nairaland. With statements like this, Nigeria is truly in trouble. |
Now I'm even more certain. Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Your alter ego might be married, You're certainly not. I doubt if you've ever had a million naira in your account. You rant and curse like a primary school student, without reasoning. I know the truth hurts, but rest assured I will noyrespond to ur next. Knock urself out and confirm your age "eloquently" okoroemeka: |
Seems like you got married @ birth..probobkt before conception. I can't imagine this level of childishness from someone in his late 40's. okoroemeka: |
I can't help but wonder @ d iq of anyone who tags Nnamdi Kanu a terrorist. The guy is a comedian. He's having the time of his life wondering how on earth he became so prominent. I listened to the guy for barely 5m and I realised he's a fraud. Some folks are still trying to decipher him. Good luck guys. adeolakemi: |
A good leader always listens!! jansonn: |
Here comes another confused SAN. The queen is a ceremonial head of the british government. She doesn't dictate govt policy or make any governance decision. Wait a minute....in actual fact, Prof Sagay is a genius. The man just confirmed what we've suspected all along. By comparing Buhari to the Queen of England he's actually telling us Buhari cannot be held accountable because he's not in charge. You can't call him to give account of matters he's not aware of. Brilliant arguement. God help Nigeria!! nairavsdollars: |
So what's the rationale for choosing senior advocates of Nigeria? Here we have 2 SAN and one is obviously very confused. I'm not calling anybody a fool but.......WTF? |
rigarmortis:My reply wasn't meant for him alone. Perhaps, others like him will start having some semblance of common sense. |
Mabizela:You're absolutely correct. This is the reason Yoruba land is full of Igbo people. You guys have selflessly left the comfort and opulence of Igboland (sorry Canaan land) just to bring Civilization to the unfortunate Yoruba people. It's amazing reading comment like yours on Nairaland. You attack without being provoked. Always looking to pass comment along ethnic lines. How can you have so much hatred for someone from your own race. Ditto for all tribalists on Nairaland. Your guys all need too see beyond your nose. We're all trapped in this contraption called Nigeria. Instead of facing the real issues holding us back you chose to bicker using tribe as a basis for classifying your enemies. Your true enemies have evolved beyond tribe or race. They're united in looting this country and their group involves almost all the tribes in Nigeria. Stay there and be waiting your brain power. |
Veqtor:Your politicians are the major problem. The don't segregate themselves when they're looting. There's no tribalism in stealing. If your break up the country without addressing the weak public institutions then it's just an excercise on paper that won't have any meaningful impact on the average citizen. There are plenty options to explore before breaking up the country. Have we ever had a leader who placed the interests of the average Nigerian over his own. Who See's us as his employers rather than his servants? That's the evil we need to battle. Create a system that holds politicians accountable to the people. Nigeria will begin the journey to greatness the day a traffic warden can arrest a minister's convoy for flouting traffic regulations. We need a leader who will mould us into a nation of law abiding citizens, where justice will be blind and everybody is afforded equal opportunities to excel. The quota system method has been very effective in producing educated illiterates. The ease with which you can bypass rules and regulations is worrying. We see this everyday, it's the reason we have the richest man in Africa, the reason a lot of us get away with traffic offenses and so called small infractions. It's the Nigerian way of life and it trickles down to the man on the street. We bribe our way around any obstacle. There's no reason to be a model citizen, na suffer and frustration go hold you for blokos. If you grow up learning to fend for yourself alone, will you become a better person once you get into public office? If you're used to breaking the law and bribing to get your way, will you stop once you become a Governor? We can't produce good leaders with the current system. If you break up the country, the same scenario will replay itself even if every street becomes a country. |
This is a tragedy of the highest magnitude. Mindless slaughter of innocent citizens. No official statement from the federal govt. The Chief of Army staff is busy making empty vows. The entire security apparatus on our country has failed. Either through sheer incompetence of abject neglect and dereliction of duty. Where do we go from here? How did we even get here?? May God help us. The truth has different shades in Nigeria. For those calling on Nigeria to break up. The same set of problems we have now will follow you into your new countries. It is not a solution. All the stakeholders need to collectively agree to make progress in this country. You can't jump this ship and not carry some of the baggage that's sinking this great country. In the midst of so much carnage we don't have effective leadership? Is our president truly aware of the state of the Nation? https://punchng.com/anger-spreads-as-un-says-110-borno-farmers-killed/ Eniola Akinkuotu, Sunday Aborisade, Friday Olokor, Adelani Adepegba, Leke Baiyewu, Kayode Idowu, Dogara Bitrus and Tunde Oyekola Saturday’s killing of rice farmers at Kwashebe by Boko Haram insurgents in the Jere Local Government Area of Borno State attracted strong condemnations from eminent Nigerians and groups on Sunday. The AFP had on Saturday reported that the insurgents attacked Kwashebe and killed no fewer than 43 rice farmers. The terrorists were reported to have tied up the farmers, who were working on rice fields, before slitting their throats. Although a member of the state Civilian Joint Task Force, Babakura Kolo, who assisted some of the survivors, put the number of people killed at 43, the United Nations on Sunday said 110 rice farmers lost their lives during the attack. Groups and individuals, including All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria; the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmed Lawan; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the Coalition of Northern Groups, lamented that the attack would affect food security in the country. On Sunday, the UN shed more light on the attack, contrary to earlier reports, it said 110 civilians were killed by Boko Haram. The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Edward Kallon, who disclosed this, also said, many other persons were injured in the deadly attack by the terrorist group. Also, the Amnesty International in a tweet on Sunday disclosed that 16 of the victims were internally displaced persons. But Kallon, in a statement on Sunday, titled, ‘Statement on attack against civilians in Koshobe, Borno,’ stated, “I am outraged and horrified by the gruesome attack against civilians carried out by non-state armed groups in villages near Borno State capital Maiduguri. At least 110 civilians were ruthlessly killed and many others were wounded in this attack.” He disclosed that the afternoon attack was carried out by armed men on motorcycles, who murdered men and women, who were harvesting their fields in Kwashebe and other rural communities in the Jere Local Government Area. Kallon, while condoling with the government and people of Nigeria, also said many women might have been kidnapped during the attack. He noted, “We have also received reports that several women may have been kidnapped. I call for their immediate release and return to safety. My thoughts are also with the rural communities in the area, who are shocked by the brutality of yesterday’s (Saturday’s) attack and fear for their safety.” “The entire UN system and the humanitarian community working to provide life-saving and development assistance to the most vulnerable in Borno State are outraged by the incident. Such direct attacks against innocent civilians jeopardize the ability for the most vulnerable people to survive the adversity they are facing, and which we are striving to alleviate.” The UN described the incident as “the most violent direct attack against innocent civilians this year,” and called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. “It is, unfortunately, one of too many such attacks targeting farmers, fishermen and families who are trying to recover some livelihood opportunities after over a decade of conflict. I strongly condemn this attack and any act of violence against innocent civilians and I firmly urge all actors on the ground to respect international laws and humanity,” the UN official stressed. The global organisation observed that rural communities in Borno State were facing untold hardships, adding that helping them to farm land and rebuild livelihoods were amongst the UN priorities and the only way to avoid the looming food crisis in the state. It said civilians needed to be protected and spared from any kind of violence. The statement read, “Innocent women, children and men desperately need food and other support and assistance, particularly at a time when we are recording some of the highest levels of food insecurity in Borno State. We owe to do our utmost to help them survive these difficult times.” 10 women still missing Meanwhile, the Amnesty International has said that 10 women working in the rice farms where Boko Haram slaughtered 110 persons are still missing. The organisation in a tweet on Sunday stated that 16 out of the victims were IDPs. It read, “Boko Haram and other armed groups must renounce their unlawful and vicious campaign of violence against civilians. The Nigerian authorities, for their part, must do more to protect civilians and bring the perpetrators of all such attacks to justice. “Amnesty International’s findings show that, of the 43 farmers slaughtered by Boko Haram yesterday, 16 were Internally Displaced Persons resident at Farm Centre IDP Camp while 10 women working in Kwashebe rice farm are still missing after the attack.” A resident, Hassan Mohammed, in an interview with one of our correspondents, said insurgents met the farmers at their rice fields and gathered them at Kwashebe, a village four kilometres from Zabarmari. He said the insurgents shot some of them and slaughtered others. Another resident, Labbo Tahiru disclosed to The PUNCH that almost all the people in Zabarmari, Kaddamari and surrounding villages were rice farmers. He said, “We are rice farmers in this locality. We have not had this tragic experience before, although we have had some encounters with these insurgents.” According to him, before the attack, there were intelligence reports indicating the terrorists were planning the attack, but soldiers only embarked on their regular patrol in the area. Terrorists came to kill innocent people after soldiers left – Resident “Soldiers went round the area to patrol in their vehicles. It was after they had left that the terrorists attacked the innocent farmers.” On Sunday, the murdered farmers were given a mass burial at Zabarmari, 20 kilometres from Maiduguri. The burial was attended by the Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum. In his address after the burial, Zulum said the security situation in the communities must improve. He stated, “We shall recruit more of our youths into the volunteer services and mobilise them to take the fight to the terrorists especially around Zabarmari axis so that the entire population of this locality can be secured. Zulum, who said more than 43 people must have been killed, stated, “This is very sad. We are still appealing to the Federal Government to ensure recruitment of more of our youths into the CJTF (civilian joint task force) and hunters into the Nigerian military so that they can form part of the agro-rangers that will protect farmers.” B’Haram still strong in many parts of Borno – gov He also admitted that “Boko Haram sect is still existing strongly in many parts of our state.” He noted that the dreaded sect still occupied the Sambisa forest and the Lake Chad regions in northern Borno. Meanwhile, there was outrage over the attack on Sunday with the President of the Senate, in a statement by his media aide, Ola Awoniyi, describing it as another barbaric act against innocent Nigerians. The statement was titled, ‘Senate President condemns killing of farmers in Borno.’ He said, “This heinous crime is particularly sad given the ongoing spirited efforts by the Federal Government at ensuring food security in Nigeria through the many programmes that have been put in place to support the agriculture sector. “This incident is heart-rending and again demonstrates why we must all continue to support the security forces to thwart the criminals in their evil determination to impose a reign of terror on the North -East of Nigeria.” Gbajabiamila, on his part, expressed sadness over the killing of the farmers and said the incident had once again brought to the fore the need for more military actions against the terrorists. This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi. The statement was titled, ‘Gbajabiamila condemns killing of Borno rice farmers, calls for more military action against insurgents.’ The Speaker said it was unfortunate that farmers were killed “in a most gruesome manner” at a time the country was focusing on self-sufficiency in rice production Rise, protect yourselves, CNG tells Northerners The CNG called on northerners to “rise and protect themselves” from all forms of banditry and insurgency afflicting the region. The organisation said that regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), had lost control over “the imperatives of protecting northerners.” The CNG, in a statement by its Spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, titled, ‘Borno killings: Time for citizen action’, said, “Time has come for citizens to rise and protect themselves. The situation under which all northern communities live today is no longer tolerable and we must all rise to protect ourselves and demand an immediate and comprehensive overhaul of the leadership of the nation’s military and the entire security and law and order assets. “The President and federal troops keep telling us that they are doing something about the mounting insecurity; but by now, all northerners must have realized that our region has been abandoned at the mercy of a rampaging insurgency that is continuously wasting the greatest asset of North, its population and weakening it politically and pauperizing it.” The Managing Director of Wal-Wanne Group, Abiso Kabi, in a statement on Sunday, said the sad incident would not only cause instability in the zone, but would also lead to poverty and make the people to depend on aid. Kabi said the Koila Agro Allied Nigeria Limited was the most affected company, as it lost many of its farmers to the attack. He called on the Federal Government to recruit more persons into the civilian joint task force to boost security in the state. The Convener, Coalition in Defence of Nigerian Democracy and Constitution, Ariyo-Dare Atoye, in an interview with The PUNCH admonished Nigerians to unite and be resolute in demanding the overhaul of the nation’s security architecture. He said Buhari should either sack the service chiefs or tender his resignation letter, noting that Nigerians had lost confidence in them and by extension, in the Buhari regime. Farmers now scared to go to farms – All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria The President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Kabir Ibrahim, in an interview with The PUNCH, said the killing of the farmers was devastating. He stated, “Our farmers are indeed scared to go to their farms following these incessant killings. Worse still the country’s food system will be adversely affected further following the COVID-19 pandemic and flooding. “This killing actually portends serious hunger challenges in this region and also larger society.” A former President, Committee For the Defence of Human Rights, Malachy Ugwummadu, on his part said the killing was a sad commentary on the worsening security situation in Nigeria. The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commiserated with Zulum. The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rauf Ajakaye, said, “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sends his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State over the unfortunate incident, and prays the Almighty Allah to repose the souls of the victims who got killed while lawfully fending for themselves and their families.” Government needs to do more to protect citizens – NHRC s Reacting to the attack, the Executive Secretary of National Human Rights Commission, Tony Ojukwu, said the Federal Government should adopt a policy for the protection of civilians in Nigeria. The President, Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association, Luka Shehu, in a chat with The PUNCH, said the killing had exposed the inherent weaknesses of the present regime in Nigeria. He said, “The incessant activities and attacks by terrorists in Borno State in particular further expose the inherent weaknesses and failure of the Buhari administration as far as security is concerned in the North-East, North-West and the central region of Nigeria as a whole.” ,, |

To all those who keep saying Trump will be sworn in for a second term. Keep deluding yourself until Trump takes the back door out of the white house. https://thestreetjournal.org/2020/11/pennsylvania-and-nevada-certify-their-election-results-for-biden-north-carolina-for-trump/ Pennsylvania and Nevada have certified their election results, showing President-elect Joe Biden as the winner there, while North Carolina certified that President Donald Trump won in that state. North Carolina’s election board certified the state’s presidential vote totals on Tuesday, awarding the state’s 15 electoral votes to President Donald Trump. Pennsylvania finalized Biden as winner of that state’s 20 electoral votes, the state’s governor said on Tuesday, cementing Biden’s victory in the key political battleground state. Governor Tom Wolf tweeted that the Pennsylvania Department of State had ‘certified’ the results of the November 3 vote, after Michigan did the same on Monday, in the latest setback to Trump’s attempts to overturn his defeat. Pennsylvania and Nevada have certified their election results, showing President-elect Joe Biden as the winner there ‘As required by federal law, I’ve signed the Certificate of Ascertainment for the slate of electors for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,’ Wolf wrote, referring to Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes. Biden won the state by 81,000 votes out of some 6.9 million cast. Trump had taken the state by 44,000 votes over Hillary Clinton in 2016. Appearing before the Nevada Supreme Court on Tuesday morning, Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske officially certified Nevada’s 2020 general election results, showing Biden as the winner of the state’s six electoral votes. Cegavske, a Republican, did not verbally acknowledge Biden the winner of the presidential race. The Nevada Supreme Court signed the canvassing for each county prior to official certification of the results. North Carolina’s election board certified the state’s presidential vote totals on Tuesday, awarding the state’s 15 electoral votes to President Donald Trump Biden is projected to secure 306 electoral college votes to Trump’s 232, making the Democrat the winner of the election. States are scheduled to certify their results by December 8, ahead of the Electoral College meeting on December 14. Trump had made Pennsylvania, one of the states he needed to win reelection, a key part of his failed legal attempts to overturn his election defeat. He has claimed, without proof, that he was defeated due to fraudulent voting and counting practices in several states. Over the weekend a Pennsylvania judge rejected a legal challenge submitted by the Trump campaign which sought to nullify millions of votes. And the Pennsylvania Supreme Court turned back another Trump challenge Monday over counting mailed votes where the ballots were not completed perfectly. Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers officially certified Biden’s win on Monday after he topped Trump by nearly 156,000 votes out of the 5.5 million cast. Georgia certified Biden’s victory there on Friday after a recount, but will undertake another machine review of the ballots at the Trump campaign’s request. Almost no one expects a different result. |
If I may ask Oga? Who u be exactly? Presidents and world leaders are congratulating Joe Biden. You siddon for corner of Nairaland dey yarn dust. mainman7: |
This is obviously fake. I haven't heard of or seen any mother who just lost a child so coherent and tearfree like this. No emotion whatsoever. Very bad and unconvincing acting. This is obviously another attempt to keep the riot going. She was more interested in calling for Nigeria to burn than being sad over the loss of a child. Anthony might have died at the Tollgate but this woman definitely isn't related to him talk less being his mum. hood223: |
You joined Nairaland on the 22nd of Oct. just to post this long one sided article of yours. People died at the toll gate. Yes!! The army and police shot @ innocent protesters . Agreed!! They are monster. Yes!! So much has happened afterwards and so many innocent lives and businesses have been destroyed. It's about time we stop putting out inflammatory rhetorics and seek peace. The battle will not be won like this. We need everyone to get involved in the electoral process. Anybody who didn't vote in the last presidential election has lost the moral right to complain about the quality of leadership we're getting from Buhari. Get involved!! Change the landscape. Leave the streets for now. Fight with your votes. Change the establishment. Jorgenvava: |
AchalugoNwa:Your desperation stinks. Show proof anybody died in Lekki. You're busy hyperventilating and spitting. You're the paid agent here . |
I like Tinubu's approach. In this same spirit. I hereby beg Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to hands of the affairs of Lagos State. You can't be part of the problem and still be offering solutions. Endsars stands for a lot of other things. End bad governance, end godfatherism, end corruption. This government of a few, by a few will only lead to one end. we have weighed all our leaders and found them unworthy of the lofty positions they occupy. Get your pvc and make a wise choice in the next election. zpakln: |
sarrki:First, the Nigerian Army should go and defend democracy against Boko Haram. That's their constitutional mandate. Defend and uphold the integrity of Nigeria. The Army has failed it's core mandate and now they're issuing threats to Nigerian Youths carrying placards. Rubbish!! |
A little humour doesn't hurt. Have a lighter look at the post. Hedonisco: |
James 2 14:18 “14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds." Faith will give you access to Gods grace. Grace will produce good works in your life. None is without the other. A true believer will bear fruit thru the effect of God's grace in his life. Not by his own power. You cannot seperate works from grace. It will confuse most people who are not spiritually matured enough. God does reward good deeds. Cornelius was full of works and this led to his salvation. Ephesians 2 10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. A good Christian will not based his relationship with God on his works because he truly knows that he has received grace from God to get what he could never have gotten otherwise. Salvation. It is very true that we've been saved by grace alone. However, the new man must produce fruit and glorify God by our works. John 15:1-2 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. |
Tankunland:I'm not in support of abusing anyone to make a point. So don't think I support Freeze. Neither am I a fan of Bishop Oyedepo. If you want to defend pastor someone however, please do so truthfully. Here's a video of the Bishop "who doesn't read newspapers" (according to you) reading one on the pulpit. https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2018/12/03/video-bishop-oyedepo-speaks-on-alleged-cloning-of-buhari/ https://m.youtube.com/watch? feature=youtu.be&v=8IxxXaZQBBA#searching Please accept this video as proof that even the Bishop is not infallible. Please apply this reasoning when you listen to anyone. Only the word of God is infallible. Man's interpretation of God's words has caused a lot of issues. We should read the Bible ourselves and stop swallowing words of men hook line and sinker. Follow God. Not men. This applies to even those who are in support of Freeze. Romans 14:10, 12 “Each of us will stand personally before the judgement seat of God, each of us will give a personal account to God.” Don't let someone's interpretation of God's word mislead you. Listen to sermons, search the word yourself and let God minister to you. |
It is mind blowing that over 150 people like your post. May God never let you run foul of law enforcement agents in Nigeria. donstan18: |
PhenomenalAustin:Instead of being stuck at a 40k/60k Job. You need to apply yourself and do one of the two things below. 1. Your company manufactures a product. Look for a way to plug yourself into the supply chain of raw materials required by your company. You're already in the industry and you have knowledge of who needs what and where to source from. No matter how small. 2. Look for a way to plug yourself into d retail or wholesale supply of your company products to end users or retailers. Again, you've spent a number of years in that line of work and finding the right market for either retail or wholesale shouldn't be too hard. You might have to start small but you'll be easily surprised at how quickly you'll make your salary without exposing yourself to dangerous chemicals or having your salary subjected to somebody's whims. You can't raise a family with this kind of Job. This is poverty starring you in the face. Be a man and put on your thinking cap. You can do so much more than what you're earning @ d moment. Regards |
baconline:If you're a salary earner who saved up to buy an expensive car just to show off. Then you're way in over your head already. Business owners in some sectors of the economy need to look the part so they can have access to the people who matter. Perception is very important. If you don't look the part you often won't get the role. There's a lot to consider. The 20% rule makes a lot of sense but their are exceptions and several people can attest their success to the image they project. The key to generating wealth is to spend way less than what you earn. Often, you'll need to take a leap of faith and extend yourself to get to the next level. |
