FLOTAN:
‘’The governor’s aide, who said that the victim was yet to be located, called on citizens of Oyo State who might know her, especially her family members, to call cell phone number.....’’

So, why has the lady not been located? Where is she? We were earlier informed that Wael Jerro, the seller, had been arrested which means he can produce her.
More information needed please.
My thoughts exactly...

I hope she's found..

No evidence for prosecution if she remains missing..

One step at a time bro. They'll surely get there someday
Thank you bro!!!

I find ludicrous the expectation that wide and sweeping reforms are made quickly simply to satisfy armchair critics like the other bro, without any huge fallout.

Democracy is not for everyone at this point in time. Lack of planning, social conditioning and mitigation of external factors leads to chaos not only in the country but in the region, if democracy is to be (forcefully) installed or implemented.
Libya is a very good example, Iraq and Syria are not lounging too far off.

Even the Western countries had to work their way for years and sometimes centuries, into their Democracy through wars, riots and increasing public consciousness!!

Let's learn from their collective history rather than a piece of it..

Similarly, repulsive is the mindset that a country though rich in resources (minerals and human capital) but stricken with episodes of poor visionary leadership stirred in a thick soup of corruption laced with condiments of poor self- and collective responsibility and lack of objectivity underpinned by religious and socio-cultural factors, can suddenly be pulled out of the mire, and be made right in a few years....

"Demand for change", I say...... but be structured and realistic as to how the change is manifested.

He was warned severally by the maiguard that old Billy could be nasty
Little Joe thought it was all a ruse... "No way can this old dog that sometimes had a rabid appearance retaliate", he thought......

One fateful day, he did as usual and the old dog left a big bite mark on his thigh.....

WHATEVER;

There is no such thing as a “broken FAMILY.

Family is FAMILY, and is not determined by MARRIAGE certificates, DIVORCE papers, and adoption documents.

Families are made in the HEART. The only time family becomes null is when those ties in the HEART are cut.

If you cut those ties, those people are not your FAMILY. If you make those ties, those people are your FAMILY.

And if you HATE those ties, those people will still be your FAMILY because whatever you HATE will always be with YOU.

ANYWAYS!!!

On a serious note though, adopting a staff or emblem peculiar to a former independent colony or regional power is an age-old tradition of Emperors trying to show a visible confederation of states in obeisance..
The Greeks, Romans, Persians all did.

EducationRe: According To Psychologist, There Are Three Types Of Intelligence. by Tedpgrass: 10:24pm On Apr 22, 2020
ExAngel007:
Dear all,

According to psychologist, there are three types of intelligence. Viz:

*Intelligence Quotient (IQ)*
*Emotional Quotient (EQ)*
*Social Quotient (SQ)*

1. *Intelligence Quotient (IQ)*: this is the measure of your comprehension ability", solve maths; memorize things and recall subject matters.
*2. Emotional Quotient (EQ)*: this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others; keep to time; be responsible; be honest; respect boundaries; be humble, genuine and considerate.
3. *Social Quotient (SQ):* this is the measure of your ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go farther in life than those with high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize in improving IQ level while EQ and SQ are played down.
A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.
Your EQ represents your character; your SQ represents your charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs but more especially your EQ and SQ.
EQ and SQ make one manage better than the other.
4. *The Adversity Quotient (AQ)*: the measure of your ability to go through a rough patch in life and come out without losing your mind. AQ determines who will give up in face of troubles, who will abandon their family or who will consider suicide.

To parents.

Expose children to other areas of life than academic. They should adore manual work (never use work as a form of punishment), sport and art. Develop their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of the parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for the children.

Prepare the children for the road.

Stay SAFE.

kikero:
Hmm

Canada's budget this year is $355 billion for 24 million people.

Nigeria's budget this year is $26 billion for 200 million people.

And you expect Nigeria to give palliative of N626000 naira per person or per family?

Nigeria is a mess, but we are not up to Canada's level. Vote for governments who would make us an industrial nation, then we can talk.

To all those people cursing Nigeria up-thread...yes, we have had corrupt governments. But there is no way our government can afford to give stimulus of N626,000 naira to everyone. Not on our budget, without taking even more mega loans.

Modified

Even giving 100million Nigerians N50000 each a month would involve spending the equivalent of our budget for the year in one month.($26 Billion)
Thank you for breaking it down

This is where I say to the youths,, reality check should be done before berating the government for every little issue.

Its a good thing to aspire to greater heights but its a smart thing to take stock of your current situation and devise a credible way to your El dorado.

The problem is that the latter is always left for the government to fix with no sense of personal responsibility.

Btw, that package described by the original op/ handle is NOT available to all.. So please avoid pple chasing clout to becloud your vision!!!

PoliticsRe: Geoffrey Onyeama: Abba Kyari Was My Best Man At My Wedding by Tedpgrass:
AreaFada2:
My only problem is that these officials become dishonest. Or maybe they have been so privileged that they are totally disconnected from reality of the masses.

Take the brilliant Onyeama for example. Since 1985, he said he spent 30 years abroad. Out of the last 35 years o.

Then you return to Abuja to live in a sumptuous environment and travel abroad as foreign minister often.

Even those that live locally, after rising up the ranks, they become totally disconnected.

If they can't see that 90% of the people are struggling, who will lead reform? They hold the power, control state resources, apparatus of state and in league with the economic elite.
I hear you sir...

But sometimes the people or populace leave you in a place of despair..

The following,
1. lack of maintenance culture,
2. the get-rich by any means largely illegitimate or die trying mindset,
3. the entitlement but no responsibility attitude
4. The envious/greedy mantra

makes for a very explosive mix..

That's why you find the politicians look for short term highly visible projects that are not necessarily keyed into infrastructural development to perpetrate and get accolades.

Can One blame them??

A factor that is often overlooked is... The civil service. They claim lack of funds but somehow salaries get paid, though months later, because someone has siphoned the money into fixed bank accounts for a short period to get extras to line their personal pockets.
Budgets are often exaggerated to account for all these exigencies.
Bribes are the order of the day to move paper documents from one office to the other.. In fact to get through the gates, bribes are needed.

These facts have nothing to do with politicians but just the inert greed.

The civil service parastatals have become dens of thieves... The number of identified ghost workers in these parastatals identified in the last Clean-up exercise, give a glimpse of the endemic corruption. The number of mansions in Abuja alone owned by these chaps and their underlings is concerning if not frightening!!

What we often forget as a populace is that politicians come and go but the civil service should be the backbone of national development. For effective service delivery and maintenance , they should provide some degree of moral compass.

These guys should be called to account for the lack of development or at least maintenance. In the event of any spotlight on them, it's easy to throw the books at the politicians who are visible and naturally earn the greatest distrust by the manner of their profession!!!! Except if they are very likable..

This continuous "to and fro" game only serves to distract.

I've often wondered why Fash could not deliver as a minister as he did with Lagos state..
The only answer to this lies with bureaucratic loopholes entrenched in those ministries and corresponding interactions with the different stakeholders.

The advantages he had in Lagos were 2-fold at least.
- He was one of the ministry boys and understood the inner workings and had also identified the power brokers without whose involvement, any initiative was bound to fail.
- Take it or leave it, a new order had been put in place by his predecessor, the Asiwaju.

Nigeria, I wish you well....

A few things to consider..
1. A visionary leader who will take the bull by the head is needed
2. Automating many of the systems will minimise corruption.. The TSA is a splendid example
3. Transparency at all levels of governance is needed
4. Making visible and accountable the heads of parastatals, ministries, service hubs, local governments, council wards may help enforce a positive social re-engineering. Emails are made public with a counter to measure response rate and customer satisfaction rate. This is analysed on a regular basis and disciplinary measures put in place for poor performance with no credible reasons.

5. Reawakening the national psyche:- contentment and discipline, conscientiousness, hardwork and patriotism mantra .... is needed. This could be made as part of the school curriculum to hopefully set the forthcoming generations right:--- Singapore is a good example

PoliticsRe: Geoffrey Onyeama: Abba Kyari Was My Best Man At My Wedding by Tedpgrass: 7:25pm On Apr 19, 2020
AreaFada2:
One obvious thing is that in positions of power are all connected somehow. Irrespective of tribe or religion. Breaking into their circle is not easy.

Quite telling that people who enjoyed high quality foreign education haven't done much to improve Nigeria. Most have stellar CV but mediocre showing in public office.

I guess the weird structure and power game of Nigeria makes brilliant people unproductive in government.
My thoughts

It appears that the populace is as much to blame as the politicians....

Accountability in every sphere is important and should be enforced.

The Nigerian project is so massive given the current population expansion, most poorly educated, increasing half-baked awareness leading to an entitlement attitude with deeply entrenched corruption amidst other conflicting external and regional factors to sometimes know where to start.

It takes an exceptionally patient but visionary leader to get some things right on the long-term.

God help us!!

I still don’t get why they are all writing good stuff about him now. When he was alive and being maligned/misrepresented, none of them spoke up in his defense.

I’m not a political appointee of the current government but I have taken it upon myself in my own little way to counter the fake narrative and propaganda of those who see nothing good in the president and his government. I’m not doing this because I believe the president is perfect - far from it. I’m doing this because I’m convinced it’s better to dwell on the positives and criticize the negatives constructively and not destructively.

So, I find it very untenable when I see direct appointees not speaking out early enough when issues are been misrepresented. What Onyeama wrote about Abba Kyari, particularly the clarification of the MTN money would have made lots of sense some 3 or 4 years ago instead of after his death. Sadly, they all allowed the social media mob to silence them.
