There's a difference between the rule of law and a few people behaving in ways that depict gross inhumanity and is definitely illegal.

The psyche of the man on the street is quite disturbed with a slant to criminality.. There's no vacuum in any system. Taking off the leaders is like taking a snake or 2 off Medusa's head. Worse people replace the empty spots.
Regarding the division, where is the seasoned polity or structure that will stand.. None. One after the other, purported leaders have been shown to be lacking in the area of discipline, rule of law or simply public engagement.

There are a lot of outside interests so either of your solutions will result in the creation of chaos/ war zone with huge loss of life and livelihood, affecting generations yet unborn, whilst our resources will be milked away by mercenaries who have no longterm vision for us.. The more divided we are, the greater their cartel reserves.... Look around Libya, Central African, Yemen, Syria etc

In addition, the prevailing public opinion will suggest that nobody is ready to be the sacrificial lamb.. Definitely not... in a situation with no long term plan in place.

As long as he's deemed to have capacity, the surgery will go on regardless of however poor the request may be adjudged to be.. Otherwise, you might be seen as discriminating against him.

We are! The right leadership is yet to be voted into power. Politics is the sub structure of societies. I believe Africa as a whole is a case study for many European scholars till date given the enormous resources we have. It's even stated that half of the world resources are deposited and found in Africa but sadly it's a continent bedeviled with bad leadership and docile followers. Very unfortunate!

Your argument is only part of the bigger picture..

The reason we keep getting it wrong as a continent is largely due to wrong analysis.
When you take an European or American set of spectacles to assess a sub-saharan African problem, you get wrong solution prototypes that can't be well-executed if at all well understood....

Either due to previous rulership, as a continent, we lack collectively a true understanding of our spirit, culture and by default essence. There are a few shining lights who often become decimated due to the struggle to be understood by their very society or bedevilled by their weaknesses.


The minute we take pride in ourselves after a redefinition of what we are, politics and polities will inherently shape up and step up!!
