Financier and philanthropist George Soros criticized Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at his annual Davos dinner, decried the state of global democracy, and warned about the rising threat of nuclear war. While his words were certainly chilling, Soros has sounded some of these warnings before. This year, though, he flagged a brand new threat—the unchecked power of Google and Facebook, which Soros feels now have “monolithic power” that they’re using to manipulate and deceive consumers. The net result could be totalitarian control, Soros said. Here is a transcript of his full remarks on the topic: These companies have often played an innovative and liberating role. But as Facebook and Google have grown into ever more powerful monopolies, they have become obstacles to innovation, and they have caused a variety of problems of which we are only now beginning to become aware. Companies earn their profits by exploiting their environment. Mining and oil companies exploit the physical environment; social media companies exploit the social environment. This is particularly nefarious because social media companies influence how people think and behave without them even being aware of it. This has far-reaching adverse consequences on the functioning of democracy, particularly on the integrity of elections. The distinguishing feature of internet platform companies is that they are networks and they enjoy rising marginal returns; that accounts for their phenomenal growth. The network effect is truly unprecedented and transformative, but it is also unsustainable. It took Facebook eight and a half years to reach a billion users and half that time to reach the second billion. At this rate, Facebook will run out of people to convert in less than 3 years. Facebook and Google effectively control over half of all internet advertising revenue. To maintain their dominance, they need to expand their networks and increase their share of users’ attention. Currently they do this by providing users with a convenient platform. The more time users spend on the platform, the more valuable they become to the companies. Content providers also contribute to the profitability of social media companies because they cannot avoid using the platforms and they have to accept whatever terms they are offered. The exceptional profitability of these companies is largely a function of their avoiding responsibility for—and avoiding paying for—the content on their platforms. They claim they are merely distributing information. But the fact that they are near-monopoly distributors makes them public utilities and should subject them to more stringent regulations, aimed at preserving competition, innovation, and fair and open universal access. The business model of social media companies is based on advertising. Their true customers are the advertisers. But gradually a new business model is emerging, based not only on advertising but on selling products and services directly to users. They exploit the data they control, bundle the services they offer, and use discriminatory pricing to keep for themselves more of the benefits that otherwise they would have to share with consumers. This enhances their profitability even further—but the bundling of services and discriminatory pricing undermine the efficiency of the market economy. Social media companies deceive their users by manipulating their attention and directing it towards their own commercial purposes. They deliberately engineer addiction to the services they provide. This can be very harmful, particularly for adolescents. There is a similarity between internet platforms and gambling companies. Casinos have developed techniques to hook gamblers to the point where they gamble away all their money, even money they don’t have. Something very harmful and maybe irreversible is happening to human attention in our digital age. Not just distraction or addiction; social media companies are inducing people to give up their autonomy. The power to shape people’s attention is increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few companies. It takes a real effort to assert and defend what John Stuart Mill called “the freedom of mind.” There is a possibility that once lost, people who grow up in the digital age will have difficulty in regaining it. This may have far-reaching political consequences. People without the freedom of mind can be easily manipulated. This danger does not loom only in the future; it already played an important role in the 2016 US presidential elections. But there is an even more alarming prospect on the horizon. There could be an alliance between authoritarian states and these large, data-rich IT monopolies that would bring together nascent systems of corporate surveillance with an already developed system of state-sponsored surveillance. This may well result in a web of totalitarian control the likes of which not even Aldous Huxley or George Orwell could have imagined. The countries in which such unholy marriages are likely to occur first are Russia and China. The Chinese IT companies in particular are fully equal to the American ones. They also enjoy the full support and protection of the Xi Jingping regime. The government of China is strong enough to protect its national champions, at least within its borders. US-based IT monopolies are already tempted to compromise themselves in order to gain entrance to these vast and fast growing markets. The dictatorial leaders in these countries may be only too happy to collaborate with them since they want to improve their methods of control over their own populations and expand their power and influence in the United States and the rest of the world. The owners of the platform giants consider themselves the masters of the universe, but in fact they are slaves to preserving their dominant position. It is only a matter of time before the global dominance of the US IT monopolies is broken. Davos is a good place to announce that their days are numbered. Regulation and taxation will be their undoing and EU Competition Commissioner Vestager will be their nemesis. Researchers in China broke scientific ground a few weeks ago by creating two tiny, adorable monkey clones.
It would be easy to think that this is purely in the interest of science. But like most things in China, it is also political. The key is in the names given to the monkeys, Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua. Each name is a doubling of one character. In the case of Zhong Zhong, that would be 中中. Repeating a character like this creates a kind of cuteness effect in Mandarin. But if you take one character from each name, and put them together, you get the word zhonghua. Zhonghua is a formal and ancient name for “China.” This term differs from Zhongguo, the name given to the modern nation of China, in important ways. It is more a reference to China as a millennia-old culture, and reminds the Chinese ear of a time in history when the country was the unchallenged world superpower. So any time these monkeys are mentioned, they are a reminder of the great nation that created them. This naming just happens to occur at a time when Xi Jinping, China’s leader, is trying to reclaim some of that global influence. He and his administration are promoting China as the world’s replacement to a United States that, under Donald Trump, seems to want to retreat from its role as global leader. If that seems like a stretch, consider the names China gave to a pair of pandas that it gifted to Taiwan. Their names, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, use the same doubling technique. Taking one character from each and putting them together as tuanyuan, they mean “reunion.” China has a monopoly on giant pandas, so if a country wants to get a hold of some for its zoos, it has no choice but to accept the terms. In this case the terms were panda-names which emphasize Beijing’s position that Taiwan, an independently run democracy, is part of China. The politics of panda names keeps going. Hua Mei, who lives in the San Diego zoo, is a combination of terms for “China” and “United States.” Most other pandas in the US contain the character mei, part of the Chinese name for America. Of course, a handful, like Lin Bing in the Chiang Mai zoo, just have pleasant-sounding names chosen in online polls—which might have something to do with the relative lack of geopolitical pressure in relationships like the one between Thailand and China. Xi Jinping wants the world to see China as a global leader, whether in politics, economics, or science. He wants you to remember who cloned those monkeys. I'm always excited when I get news about young Nigerians doing something innovative ,challenging and rare. When I first heard about Taxistartup I was wondering what it was all about. A friend had came freshly into town and was hovering about the news of Taxistartup been the new talk of town and I was wondering if I really lived in Akure. 'Lagosians and their wahala I had thought' not until he came with details of how he had came across one of their flyers at the shopping mall and gave it a try.His commendation about the quality of service and timeliness was something that got my attention. So I had to give it a trial too. I went to google playstore searched for 'Taxistartup' surprisingly they have a good SEO and over a thousand downloadAt this moment I have started feeling outdated as a blogger. After installing the application,I registered using my phone numbers and email details,a code was sent to me for activation .Immediately the application was running and looking for my address. Amazing how it works like other ride hailing application such as uber and taxisfy I had earlier used in lagos and Abuja.I was asked to set up a pickup location which I did and a drop off location too.To complete my order ,a price estimate was shown and relatively cool with it I continued. It indicated 'requesting a driver' I was matched within seconds.A driver had called and informed me he was on his way already!!!I was like wow this actually work. Not satisfied I wanted to meet those responsible for this new innovation in my area, luckily I stumbled upon their rolled up banner at the shopping mall that day with a number for inquiry.I called and made a scheduled meeting with the management. Finally the time arrived, was expecting to see some giant or someone sophisticated with some modern attire, only to see two simple looking young men in their Mid-Twenties so full of life and enthusiasm. We had a hand shake and took a seat at one of the open eatery there. After brief introduction. we had got talking about the application and the business part of it.I realized alot from our discussion as these men Olatunbosun Gbenga and Olupitan Ayodeji believes so much in a system that could actually work and give the Ondo State Youth more on employment. They spoke extensively on their long term goals and objective on the application and the economic effect on Ondo state. Interestingly the application covers a wide range of four state,Ondo ,Osun,Ekiti and Edo state and has been in operation since September 2017,billed for an official launching at the sunview hotel in Akure on December 13th 2017 with alot of eminent elite guest in attendance.I won't disclose names yet lol If you live in Akure and you are yet to know about this application, you are like my old self.Get a ride with them today and you are promised a lasting experience. Jose Mourinho wants a £3million-a-year pay hike on his current deal at Manchester United . Mourinho believes that he deserves a rise on his £12million-a-year salary and his agent Jorge Mendes has New Year talks planned with executive vice chairman Ed Woodward. The United boss has landed three trophies in his first season in charge at Old Trafford and has got the club back into the money-spinning Champions League. Having won the Europa League (right), the League Cup and Community Shield in his first year at United, Mourinho has overseen a strong start to the current campaign. Second-placed United sit five points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League and are almost certain of a place in the Champions League knock-out phase after four straight group stage wins. That means another bumper windfall for the club – and Mourinho wants his slice. By winning the Europa League in May to qualify for the Champions League, the Portuguese coach made sure United hit their performance targets with lead sponsors Adidas and Chevrolet. Mourinho has seen at close quarters the full extent of United’s money-making machine and knows he contributed to the bulging bank balance with his trophy haul. In September the club announced record revenues during Mourinho’s debut season at the club with a staggering turnover of £581.2million and an operating profit of £80.8m. from: http://rayoonline.com/jose-mourinho-demanding-huge-pay-rise-sign-new-deal-manchester-united/

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has announced another name change. The 48 year old is celebrating his birthday today and made the announcement on Twitter. The artist formerly known as Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy, and Diddy now wants to be known as 'Brother Love'. Taking to Twitter, he announced: "Hey y’all. I have some very serious serious news. I’ve been praying on this. I decided that – I know it’s risky and I know it’s corny to some people – but I decided to change my name again." Explaining the move, he said: "I’m just not who I am before. I’m something different. Some new name is Love aka Brother Love. I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puffy Daddy or any of my other monikers but Love or Brother Love." In a recent interview with CNN, Brother Love explained why he's had so many name changes over his career. "I’ve had different name changes because I only just grew up in a neighborhood where everybody had nicknames," he said. "My first nickname was Puffy, and then when I was in the music industry it went to Diddy, and then P. Diddy, or was it P. Diddy first? Then Diddy?" Back in 2013, the rapper, businessman and actor felt that he needed to reverted to his original name Puff Daddy as he said it inspired his drive. The American even claimed that Puff Daddy is “a super hero” in Hollywood. "Puff Daddy is an old name so technically it’s not a new name," he said at the time. He spoke to TV host Ellen DeGeneres about his moniker switch: "Yes. It’s not technically a name change. It's just I’m channeling one of my previous alter egos." Ayhan Uzun, 54, filmed the horrific moment he killed himself - broadcasting it on Facebook Live as viewers hit 'Wow' and 'Sad' reaction emojis which floated past the screen before and after. The shocking video footage - which MirrorOnline has edited - shows Mr Uzun speaking to the camera and unleashing a lengthy tirade of abuse against his family before putting a handgun to his head. He pulls the trigger on the count of three after saying his final words: "Goodbye, I am leaving, take good care of yourselves." Mr Uzun then immediately collapsed to the floor. In the footage he revealed the reason behind his drastic actions was that he hadn't been asked impending marriage of his daughter without his permission. Mr Uzun, who was alone at his home, revealed that he only learned about his daughter's engagement in a telephone call. Mr Uzun said: "On my daughter's happiest day (her engagement), they called me and said to me: 'Father come have a treat.' "Nobody asked about me. Nobody treated me like a man. My father-in-law took my place and without having a right he approved my daughter's wedding. "Nobody said this girl's father is alive. Though I would have waited for my daughter and family to say to me: 'Come father, be with us.' "My wife called me and she told me. I said to her why didn't you come to tell me, and she said: 'We cannot make a personal visit to you...' "Maybe some of you will call this a show. I do not want anybody to go through this thing that I am going through. "A little later I will put an end to my life with the gun I am holding in my hands."[/b] During his livestreamed speech, friends and relatives sent comments begging him not to commit suicide. A brave young mum has shared heartbreaking photos of her stillborn daughter who was slowly poisoned in the womb because of a rare illness. Gabriella Morley and Matthew Dalton had been friends for 10 years before becoming a couple in 2016 and were overjoyed to discover they were having a baby soon after. But at 39 weeks, while out shopping with removal driver Matty, 25, mum-to-be Gabriella suddenly realised she hadn't felt her baby move that day. After rushing to hospital , doctors looked for a heartbeat but 24-year-old Gabriella and Matty were given the devastating news that their baby had died. The grieving mum had to give birth to her lifeless little girl on May 9 2017 – an emotionally 'scarring' experience she has tried to block from her memory. A post-mortem revealed that baby Poppy died from cardiac arrest after being poisoned by high acidity levels in her mum's body due to the pregnancy-related liver condition intrahepatic cholestasis (ICP). Gabriella, of Bramley, Leeds, said: "It is a rare condition but I think more mums need to know about it. I don't want anyone to ever have to go through what we did. "Losing Poppy has been the most devastating thing ever. No mother should have to experience what it is like to go through nine months of pregnancy and leave hospital with no baby. "But it does happen and people need to talk about it more. "At 39 weeks and two days, I was out shopping with Matty getting all the last bits we needed and I suddenly realised I hadn't felt the baby move that day. "When we got home I had a bath and I felt some movement. I thought it was the baby and it put my mind at rest but we know now it was probably my placenta. "The next morning I couldn't feel the baby again so we went to the hospital and they took me in for a scan. "After having so many, you know yourself where the heart should be and it just wasn't moving. I turned my head away and the midwife rushed for tissues. That's when I knew. "The doctor turned to us and said 'I'm sorry, I can't see your baby's heartbeat'. "I remember letting out this scream but then I fell silent and just stared out the window. Matty was stood next to me squeezing my hand with his head down crying. It didn't feel real. "When I walked out of the room I could hear all these other babies' heartbeats from the other rooms and I fell apart. You never think this could happen to you. "Knowing I was going to have to give birth was terrifying. I don't remember all of it, I've tried to block it out because it scarred me. "When my waters broke I was so frightened. I had always imagined it would be a happy time but knowing our baby wasn't alive anymore made it awful. "Giving birth was the saddest thing I have ever gone through. She was born to the song Pachelbel's Canon in D which is just the most beautiful and emotional piece of music. "I remember Matty looking up and saying 'it's a girl' and the sound I made was just awful, I have never heard anything like it. It was the most horrible surprise ever. We had always wanted a girl. "They laid her on me but I couldn't even look at her. I just couldn't understand how the baby I had grown inside me for nine months was here but she wasn't moving or crying. There was just silence." If you wondering what the image on Google search engine landing page today means, read this Olaudah Equiano, who was known as Gustavus Vassa for most of his life, was a prominent African in London whose autobiography helped to end the slave trade in Britain. Google marks the 272nd birthday of Equiano, who was born in the Eboe province, in the area that is now southern Nigeria, on October 16, 1745. His early life is unclear due to the absence of records, but he recounted how he was kidnapped with his sister when he was 11. He was sold by local slave traders and shipped across the Atlantic to Barbados and then Virginia. In Virginia, Equiano was sold to Michael Pascal, a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, who renamed him 'Gustavus Vassa' after the 16th-century Swedish king. Equiano had already been renamed twice: he was called Michael while onboard the slave ship that brought him to the Americas; and Jacob, by his first owner. Equiano travelled the oceans with Pascal for eight years, during which time he found Christianity and was baptised as well as learning to read and write. Pascal then sold Equiano to a ship captain in London, who took him to Montserrat, where he was sold to the prominent merchant Robert King. King set Equiano to work on his shipping routes and in his stores, working as a deckhand, valet and barber whilst also earning money by trading on the side. In 1765, when Equiano was about 20 years old, King promised that he could buy his freedom for £40 (worth £6000 in the present day). In less than three years, he made enough money and was freed in 1967. Equiano then spent much of the next 20 years travelling the world, including trips to Turkey and the Arctic. In 1786 in London, he became involved in the movement to abolish slavery. He was a prominent member of the 'Sons of Africa', a group of 12 black men who campaigned for abolition. Equiano was befriended and supported by abolitionists, many of whom encouraged him to write and publish his life story. Equiano was known as Gustavus Vassa for most of his life (Image: Unknown) In 1789 he published his autobiography, 'The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, the African'. Equiano's personal account of slavery, his journey of advancement, and his experiences as a black immigrant caused a sensation on publication. The book fuelled a growing anti-slavery movement in Britain, Europe, and the New World. His account surprised many with the quality of its imagery, description, and literary style. Some readers felt shame at learning of the suffering he had endured. The autobiography, published in 1789, helped in the creation of the Slave Trade Act 1807 which ended the African trade for Britain and its colonies. In 1792, Equiano married an Englishwoman, Susanna Cullen, and they had two daughters. Equiano died on 31 March 1797. We all know, of course, that liars are always other people. Lovers who have fallen out accuse one another of deceit; voters declare all politicians liars; the religious charge the godless with hating the truth, while atheists accuse churchgoers of perpetuating the biggest lie of all. What’s strange is that, unlike stealing or murder, lying is a moral crime we all commit — and on a regular basis. In one study, 147 people were asked to keep a diary for a week and note the number of times they intentionally misled someone. On average, they admitted to lying 1.5 times a day. And that is probably conservative. We lie by saying: ‘I’m fine, thanks’ when we’re feeling miserable. We lie when we say: ‘What a beautiful baby’ while inwardly noting its resemblance to an alien. And most of us have simulated anger, sadness, affection, or said: ‘I love you’ when we don’t mean it. We tell our children to smile and look grateful for the soap-on-a-rope grandma has given them for their birthday — and perhaps we add that if they don’t, Father Christmas won’t come this year. Not only do we make exceptions to the prohibition against lying, sometimes we approve of it. If a doctor tells a bereaved husband his wife died instantly in the crash, rather than the truth — that she spent her last hours in horrific pain — we applaud the doctor’s compassion. We call the lies we like ‘white lies’, but asked to define what makes a lie white we soon get lost in qualifications and contradictions. And while traditionally we frown upon liars, I’d argue that lying is a basic human necessity. BOOST YOUR FRIENDSHIPS We exert our powers of deception virtually from birth. One study looked at the deceits children under the age of one engage in and, among many examples, found a nine-month-old faking laughter as a way of signalling that he wants to join in with others who are laughing. Lying is as innate to us as communication — and just as important to our survival. Most of us have, at some point, perhaps in a cab or around the canteen table, found ourselves faced with a choice between pretending to agree with a political statement in which we don’t believe, or being honest and risking an unpleasant argument. We have to deal with conflicts between our desire to be truthful and our standing in the community — and often we choose to do so by lying. ‘Yes, that dress looks lovely on you.’ ‘I’m so sorry I’m busy that night.’ ‘Of course I don’t mind!’ White lies are sticking plasters we put over everyday social problems, they’re the way we avoid hurting people’s feelings. Don’t agree? Just imagine being brutally honest in all of the above situations and what would happen as a result. YOU'LL FEEL FITTER AND HEALTHIER Lying to others is only one part of it. There are also the lies we, sometimes unknowingly, tell ourselves. And this self-deception is essential for our health. Take the research done into a form of laser surgery for heart disease. One study compared patients who’d had the surgery against those who’d had a fake operation. Twelve months later, most of the patients who had undergone the laser surgery were in much better shape. They revelled in a rediscovered capacity for physical exercise. They reported that their heart pains had receded and that they were feeling healthier and fitter than they had done in years. Yet the patients in the sham group were also rejuvenated. Despite not having had any treatment, they too felt years younger and the frequency of their angina pains declined. In terms of effects on patients, there was no significant difference between the groups. This is an example of the placebo effect, which has shown that if a person is given something they believe will make them feel better, then they will. It has limits, of course. There’s no evidence to suggest it can stop the growth of cancerous tumours, for instance, but if we expect to feel better, we are more likely to get better — even if this expectation is based on a lie. LIES ARE CRUCIAL FOR RELATIONSHIPS If you were asked for a short definition of sanity, you would probably say it had something to do with being free of illusions. But actually it helps our romantic relationships if we see our partners through rose-tinted glasses and see our own actions — in choosing that specific partner, for example — in a flattering light. There is good reason to think that this particular type of self-deception provided a survival or reproductive advantage and was therefore spread by natural selection. A degree of unrealistic optimism about ourselves would have helped us survive in the treacherous ancestral environment and to confidently impress potential mates. Now we live in centrally heated houses rather than caves, but we still rely on illusions to carry us through life. Lying to others is only one part of it. There are also the lies we, sometimes unknowingly, tell ourselves. And this self-deception is essential for our health We imagine having children will make us happier even though studies suggest this is, at best, uncertain (anticipating our own happiness isn’t the only reason we have children, of course, but it certainly smooths the decision). We fall in love with a person we believe is uniquely suited to us, and this helps us stick with them for long enough to raise those children. And — crucially — most people believe their relationships to be better than most others. FOOL YOURSELF AND BE A GREAT SUCCESS People who are talented self-deceivers are more likely to be successful at school or in business than those who aren’t. Some economists believe countries become economically stagnant when business people are too rational and sensible. We need over-optimistic entrepreneurs who are prepared to take irresponsible risks. Without people who are willing to ignore the prevailing wisdom and follow their instincts, many of our biggest innovations and creative leaps forward wouldn’t have happened. Every year, thousands of people with vaulting ambitions start new companies in full awareness that the odds are against them achieving the kind of world-changing success of which they dream. Most fail or settle for something less, but a few of those companies eventually become Apple or Starbucks or Dyson. At every turn, it seems, life undermines any strict adherence to truth. So whether you like it or not, you are a liar. The question is, which sort of liar? 1. Back-up your files and data Apple introduced its hassle-free Time Machine back-up solution alongside OS X Leopard back in October 2007. And nine years on, nothing on Windows comes close. The effortless in-built app launches the first time you plug an external drive into your MacBook or iMac and checks whether you want to create a back-up. Time Machine saves hourly back-ups for the last 24 hours, daily backups for the past month, and weekly back-ups for everything else. These back-ups can be used to restore your computer to a specific date after a fresh operating system installation, or import all of your documents, music, files, saved settings and in-app preferences to a new computer. But it’s not simply a case of all-or-nothing. You can also delve into your back-ups via the stunning user interface, and shuffle through saved snapshots to retrieve a single file from a folder you deleted months ago. Once you’ve located the file in your back-up, you just drag-and-drop to a chosen folder on your current machine. 2 – Quickly preview the contents of a file This incredibly simple feature – once you start using it – will leave you wondering how you ever lived without it. Dubbed Quick Look, the system-wide functionality lets you peek into the contents of almost any file on your machine – without having to open it. Apple users can quickly select a file within their Finder window and hit the space bar to launch a large preview window showcasing the contents of the file. Quick Look will let you scroll through a lengthy word document, zoom into a photograph, and will even play a movie file. It’s incredibly convenient, and lets you double-check you have the right file before you commit to launching a fully-featured application like Photoshop, or Final Cut Pro. It also means you no longer have an excuse for attaching the wrong file to an email. 3 – Defragging your hard drive Any Windows users reading this will likely be familiar with the process of defragging their machine – rebranded to Optimise Disk in the most recent software updates – but Mac owners might be a little more confused. Defragmenting the hard drive is something Windows users have to do at regular intervals to speed up their machines. It reorganises the data written to your hard drive and fills in any holes that have appeared, minimising how far the heads have to travel across the drive to load files or apps. Apple’s desktop operating system, OS X, is designed differently to Windows and will quietly defragment your files in the background whenever you install new software. That means the system is always up-to-date. 4 – Uninstalling apps On Windows and Apple desktop machines, users are asked to drag a file into the Recycling Bin or Trash to delete it from the system. When OS X users want to delete an installed app, the same principle applies, meaning all they have to do is drag the offending software into the Trash. Confusingly, Windows users cannot uninstall software using the same technique they use to remove unwanted files. Instead, Microsoft wants its users to launch a standalone app from the Control Panel dubbed Uninstall a Programme. You then have to find the software you want to uninstall, select it, and then click Uninstall. 5 – Retrieve something you’ve deleted from your file Apple introduced Versions alongside OS X Lion in October 2011. This staggeringly useful feature catalogues a history of the document you are working on, as you save any changes. You can then browse through the different iterations of the document, comparing it side-by-side with the latest draft. You can restore entire past versions, or bring single elements from past drafts – like an image you deleted three hours ago, or a line of text you drafted last year – back into your working document. It’s essentially a super-charged version of Undo, and when it’s combined with Apple’s in-built Auto Save feature (which saves during pauses in your work, or should you work continuously, saves every five minutes) means you will never lose a detail you’ve overwritten or deleted from your file. Granted, Windows users can retrieve entire files. But you’ll struggle to dig-out a conclusion you penned in the same Word Document six months ago. 6 – Move and rename a file, even when it’s open in another app This is another entry that could baffle life-long Mac users, but Microsoft’s almost-universal desktop operating system kicks up an almighty fuss whenever you try to rename or relocate a file that’s open in another app. “The action can’t be completed because the file is open in another programme,” the prompt warns users. OS X users do not experience the same restrictions and can drag-and-drop files around the system without breaking a sweat. Files can be renamed from the Finder, or from the open app. And while we’re on the subject, Apple users have much more freedom when it comes to naming files. You may have noticed Microsoft throws its toys out of the pram whenever you try to the following characters in a filename / ?<> : * | “ . Granted, Apple has restrictions on characters, too. But this is limited to only one – the colon. And if try to type one by mistake, the OS automatically replaces it with a dash. 7 – Multi-touch gestures As Apple has evolved the multi-touch display on its best-selling iPhone, many of the biggest innovations have emigrated across to the Mac range too. Mac users can swipe between full-screen apps, scroll, launch Mission Control, pinch to zoom and rotate photographs by circling two fingertips on the trackpad. Apple has included a dozen or so more gestures, as well as a number of slickly-produced tutorial videos, enabled from within system preferences. Expanding your thumb and three fingers apart across the trackpad, like you are miming brushing away the virtual windows on-screen, shuffles all of your open apps out of the way to reveal the desktop – a personal favourite. Apple’s latest laptops include a Force Touch trackpad, which uses haptic feedback to imitate a physical click with accuracy. Force Touch also brings variable levels of sensitivity, driven through software, which lets users control the speed as they fast-forward through a QuickTime video simply by the amount of pressure applied to the trackpad. You can also Force click on a name to quickly preview their contact details, Force click a tracking number in Safari or Mail to see shipping details in a popover, and more. Granted, many Windows 10 PCs now ships with touchscreen displays, which solves some of the same problems as the multi-touch trackpad on OS X, but for our money, these often feel less intuitive on a desktop machine. And as Apple continues to advance its Force Touch capabilities with macOS Sierra, Windows users could find themselves being left further and further behind. The newly inaugurated South-West office of the President Muhammadu Buhari 2019 Campaign Organisation has said that even if “Buhari is not strong enough to withstand campaign stress and pressure in 2019,” it would work to ensure his victory in the presidential election. This was disclosed on Monday as the president’s supporters from the South-West zone and other parts of the country inaugurated the Buhari 2019 campaign office in Ibadan, while they also appointed coordinators. They spoke under the aegis of the South-West Office of the President Muhammadu Buhari 2019 Campaign Organisation. Among those who were present at the inauguration were former Nigerian ambassador to Qatar, Dr. Bawa Abdulahi; a member of the organisation’s Board of Trustees, Isaka Hassan; the group’s acting deputy national coordinator, Daniel Omofeso; Acting National Secretary, Deaconess Rita Solari Inko-Tariah, and others. At the event, the group also appointed coordinators for the six states in the zone. National Coordinator of the organisation, Danladi Pasalli, said the South-West had always played prominent role in the politics of the country, saying it was one of the pillars behind the success of the campaign organisation of Buhari in the last presidential election. He said, “We all know that the birthplace of this organisation is here in the South-West, it was nursed and brought up here. “The South-West have always supported the president whose pious concern is to reshape Nigeria and free it from all forms of unpatriotic activities. “Buhari is concerned with putting the country in a proper and realistic system so that the future of the next generation is guaranteed.” Passali said Buhari had made “tremendous recovery in London,” saying he would soon return to the country. “He said the organisation would, as part of its strategy to woo voters, assist farmers to get direct loans from the Central Bank of Nigeria. Patron of the organisation in the zone, Ahmed Ajibade, said even if Buhari was not strong enough to withstand campaign stress and pressure, the group would work to ensure his victory in 2019 election. “We will not allow those who will suffer (sic) Nigerians to get to the throne, the masses will not allow them. “Everybody must rise in support of the president in his effort to transform Nigeria into a country of our dreams. “Buhari stands for honesty, simplicity and he is straightforward. He is the only one that is capable of transforming the country at this crucial time,” Ajibade said. The South-West coordinator of the group, Tunji Adeniji, noted that the official inauguration of all the state coordinators in the zone would soon be done. Men when having sex with women seem to have a certain fascination with the breasts.Perhaps that is why the female chest is ever on display everywhere — from restaurants to nudist magazines, to beer or car advertisements. Writing in peer-reviewed journal, The Psychology of Sex, Dr. Justin Lehmiller, suggests that there is an evolutionary basis for male’s fascination by female breasts. Tracing it back to human evolution, Lehmiller proposes that female breasts only became a significant factor in attraction when human beings started walking upright. Before we started walking on two legs, the biggest source of visual excitement for men was the female buttocks, he proffers. “However, when we stood up, the buttocks were no longer as prominently displayed. As a result, the thought is that the breasts became bigger and more pendulous in order to mimic the visual appeal of the buttocks,” he says. Another theory has it that men had developed a preference for breasts because stimulating them enhances bonding with a female partner. “The basic idea is that women find breast and nipple stimulation to be sexually pleasurable. In fact, some women find nipple stimulation so pleasurable that it can lead to orgasm in and of itself,” the researcher claims. He adds that breast stimulation causes the release of oxytocin in the brain — that is the hormone that facilitates bonding between humans. Research has shown that it plays a role in the bonding that occurs between mother and child during breastfeeding, as well as between romantic partners who have sexual contact. Some scientists also believe that men have developed an attraction to breasts precisely because breast and nipple stimulation tap into this neurochemical bonding system that can bring couples closer. Other theories also aver that breasts may be desired because they indicate sexual maturity and fertility status. Punch News source: http://rayoonline.com/reasons-men-attracted-breast-revealedread/
