On Saturday, The Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Chikwendu Kalu, allegedly ordered some policemen in the state to shoot officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps on patrol. Eyewitnesses told Newsmen that the speaker gave the order when the FRSC officers stopped the Sport Utility Vehicle his wife was travelling in along the Umuikaa/Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway. “When the vehicle was stopped (by the FRSC officials), the driver refused to stop, only for him to stop at a distance. “The driver reversed the vehicle and it was discovered that a woman in the passenger seat in front, is an officer of the Department of State Services attached to the governor’s wife. “The DSS officer ran towards the officer who stopped the vehicle, held him by uniform and dragged him to the ground, accusing him of hitting their vehicle,” a reliable source told SUNDAY PUNCH. The source added that the speaker’s wife allegedly joined the policemen to beat the official. “One of them called the speaker whose village is nearby. He then came with some policemen. He ordered them to shoot the armless officers who were sitting inside the patrol vehicle and mercilessly beat up the team leader. “The policemen also forcefully opened the patrol vehicle and went away with the battery. They left the team leader and the other officials that were shot on the road. Other road users helped them to the hospital,” said the source. The FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the incident. He said the case had been “reported to the commissioner of police in the state for further investigations and that it won’t deter the FRSC from saving lives on the highways.” When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker Mr. Okey Chikwendu promised to confirm the incident and get back to correspondents. He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report. Efforts to get the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Geofrey Ogbonna, were unsuccessful as he neither picked calls made to his mobile nor responded to the text message sent.

Men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Friday went berserk, killing a bystander and injuring a police sergeant in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State. The incident occurred when Jigawa Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, sought reinforcement from the NSCDC personnel after clash with members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW. Sources said NURTW touts descended on the FRSC officials, set ablaze their operational van, following impounding of some of their vehicles for failure to install speed limiters. “As soon as the Civil Defence officers arrived at the scene, they began beating everybody around. One of them started shooting despite the fact that the police asked him not to. He shot dead of the bystanders and a police sergeant,” said a witness. A woman who discovered her husband was looking at X-rated images online took revenge by uploading a selfie of her own breasts to the same website. Writing on Mumsnet, the 40-year-old woman explained how she found out her husband, 44, was looking at the nude photographs while she was pregnant. To 'get her own back' the wife posted a picture of her own breasts on a similar page to the one he visited, prompting him to lose his temper and go 'completely crazy'. The post divided opinion over who behaved worse, with some praising her 'genius' revenge and others branding the move 'immature'. Taking to the online forum, the woman said that when she discovered her husband was viewing the images on Reddit even though he had told her he did not look at porn and 'disagreed with it vehemently'. She continued: 'As I was p****d with him I decided to get my own back and I posted a picture of my own boobs on the 30 plus page,' a similar thread to the one he viewed. The picture was 'upvoted' and received dozens of comments from men, which made her feel 'very flattered' and 'upped her self-esteem no end', she wrote. 'I took the picture down as my [husband] went completely crazy, extremely angry, and has said that what I have done is far far worse then him going onto the same type page basically for god knows how long and looking at many different pictures of young woman and lying to me about it. 'He's so angry he can't even think about it without blowing up. What I'm asking here is, was I completely out of order doing what I did?' She finished by saying she did not think it was as bad as what her husband had done, and asked others for their opinions. Dozens posted in support of the poster, with one writing: 'Genius move. You're calling out his hypocrisy. So it's ok for him to get off on pictures of naked women but he's not happy for his daughter/wife, etc to be those naked women.' Another shared: 'I think what you did was Brilliant op! And as your pregnant him saying your boobs are for him to look at would anger the hell out of me . No they are your boobs , not his.' However others questioned her approach and said it could signal the end of the marriage. 'Tit for tat isn't good and I personally think it was a very immature way to handle it,' one wrote. Another added: 'OP, sounds like your marriage is over.' Source: http://rayoonline.com/wawusee-pregnant-wife-took-revenge-cheating-husband/

Ever since in 1999, with the emergence of democratic government in Nigeria ,the use of force by Political Party and hooliganism to acquire, deprive and subject others to humiliation has been on the rise . Earlier today Rayoonline correspondent was on the street of Lagos to capture the business activities of people residing in the jankara area of Lagos. The activities of the Labor Party in the area was an attention according to reports. There was a rally going on in the area and the party members had came out en masse, immediately our correspondent said he became captivated by the activity and decided to ask few questions ,also take pictures. The attitude of the party hoodlums discouraged him as they became radical. According to reports ,there was a truck parked along the Oroyinyin market street, the truck which is a container had blocked the way ,probably faulty, offloading or for some other reasons not working .But the Labor Party thugs won't exercise patience. One of them had jump unto the driver side forcing the driver out of the vehicle ,probably he had no prior driving experience ,he started the truck and in an attempt to move it forward the container on the truck stumbled ahead destroying shops and inflicting injuries on so many marketers around the area. One of the Market Merchant Mr Amaka showed serious disprove to the attitudes of the partisan Another Seller identified as Mustapha condemned their actions calling it primitive and Callous. This party convener has a banner of Hon Tajud Ola Kasumu aka Pa Kasumu on its inscription,we have not been able to contact the PRO of the party at the time of filing this report for their statements. The photographer who was 'sued by a monkey' in a bizarre court battle has revealed the costs associated with the case have left him broke. David Slater says he no longer has motivation to take pictures after battling for copyright over a selfie that was taken on his camera by a monkey in Indonesia in 2011. The 52-year-old, from Chepstow, south Wales, says he has been left with no money due to the lengthy case, and the costs he has incurred hiring lawyers. Today, he could not even afford to fly to America today for a court hearing. Speaking to The Telegraph: "I'm just not motivated to go out and take photos any more. I've had outlays of several thousand pounds for lawyers, it is losing me income and getting me so depressed. "When I think about the whole situation I really don't think it's worth it. Everything I did to try and highlight the plight of the monkeys has backfired on my private life. I've had my live ruined." It emerged today in court that PETA has identified the wrong monkey that took the selfie that sparked the legal battle. Naruto, a six-year-old Indonesian macaque, may not have been the primate that took the photo that is at the centre of a bizarre dispute in US federal court. Lawyers for David Slater said it was 'absurd' for PETA to claim that the monkey was entitled to copyright - because he is a monkey. David said he wanted a career change and was also considering becoming a tennis coach because he was unable to pay his income taxes. Mr Slater has been sued in America by PETA which claims that the copyright for the selfie taken by Naruto rests with the monkey who should get any profits from its sales. Legal costs are now estimated to be around £200,000 and it is not clear who will eventually have to pay them. The latest hearing in front of a federal appeal judge at the 9th Circuit in San Francisco was to decide whether to overturn a lower court ruling that Naruto lacked standing to sue. But things quickly became bizarre and absurd. Read More Here: http://rayoonline.com/bizzareread-happened-photographer-got-sued-monkey/

Donald Trump has had an article of impeachment introduced against him for obstruction of justice by two US Congressmen. Democratic member Brad Sherman initially drafted and circulated the articles last month but has now formally introduced them. It accuses the US president of obstruction of justice and seeking to "use his authority to hinder and cause the termination" of an investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn, including "through threatening, and then terminating, James Comey". The articles have been seconded by Congressman Al Green as both democratic members believe the President’s conversations over the firing of former FBI Director James Comey constitute obstruction of justice. Sherman said: "I am pleased that Congressman Al Green has joined me in filing Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump. "We now begin the effort to force the House Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on Obstruction of Justice and Russian interference in our election. He added: “Such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office." Sherman's made the move to impeach the President came despite concern among Democrats that taking such aggressive action against Trump would create backlash against the party. He has previously admitted no other members had signed on to support his proposal. The article will need 218 votes to pass the House of Representatives, which is currently controlled by the Republicans. Sherman has previously been called "selfish" by a fellow Democrat. Everyone living in the Nigerian Community would agree with the fact that corruption is a serious problem faced by the Nation. With a population of over 170 million Nigeria boost of a robust GDP and Annual Revenue from Crude Oil sales,Agric produce export, mining and other Commodities. Rayoonline in a recent chat with the President and state director of the Ondo state Center for Anti-Corruption Campaign,Dr Olabode Olawoye,he gave a pure insight to the goals of the organization and its latest developments. In his statements ,he said the fight against corruption has moved to the Nigerian Palace and this has been a welcome development among all the classes of Oba across the state. He said, the Nigerian kings are the chief security officer of their community and in this vein should see that there are no rooms for corrupt individual,Notorious,Rebellious and crime driven ones. Also buttering his point, he observed that the Nigerian army in recent times had come into force in assisting the Nigerian Police on certain security issues thereby making it mandatory for the involvement of the Oba's in the security welfare and a crime and corruption free community. However he drew a conclusion by saying in the introduction of the anti corruption war to the Nigerian Palace, his organisation(CARSON) has the responsiblity of giving an enlightenment to the royal father in the aspects of Awards /honors and giving of Chieftancy titles. He said such awareness will enable the Kings to desist from recognising people who are not earning their income legitimately. Also he said ,this would enable the effectiveness of the whitsle blowing policy initiated recently by the Buhari led administration . Dr Olawoye finally informed Our Correspondent that a major conference will be coming up sometimes in september that would address all the royal fathers in ondo State collectively ,this is one of its kind and shall be hosted in collaboration with Joseph Ayo Babalola University Ikeji Arakeji Read More about Dr Olabode Activities Here: http://rayoonline.com/anti-corruption-campaign-stay-dr-olabode-olawoyeread-biography/ |

Makes me come to the next point , with what we just saw happened , the government of Lagos had tried but not enough , if this happened in Lagos by now no houses would be left on the surface .My opinion though |
A dog owner who starved his Staffordshire bull terrier so badly he was too weak to walk upstairs has been banned from keeping animals after claiming his 50-hour week working at KFC made him too depressed to care for the pet. Maxie was rescued by an RSPCA inspector and was so emaciated that he looked 'like a skeleton with fur', judges heard. Staffordshire bull terrier Maxie, pictured, was rescued by an RSPCA inspector and looked like a 'skeleton with fur' The court heard that a member of the public contacted the RSPCA after seeing Maxie RSPCA inspector Rachel Leafe said: 'When I took Maxie to the vet he was so weak. He had to keep stopping while walking because he just could not walk properly. He looked like a skeleton with fur' The neglected animal weighed 11kg when he was found instead of the 18kg which is normal for a dog of his size. Chesterfield Magistrates' Court heard the dog was given a body score of one out of nine and had no muscles in his legs. Shaun Musson, 25, of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the animal. RSPCA inspector Rachel Leafe said: 'When I took Maxie to the vet he was so weak. 'He had to keep stopping while walking because he just could not walk properly. He looked like a skeleton with fur. 'As well as being underweight, he had an overgrown claw which was curling over into his pad. 'It would have been incredibly painful for him.' Inspector Leafe said: 'Musson said he believed the dog had lost weight because he was stressed as he had gone from being at home all the time to working 40 hours a week. 'But put simply Maxie lost a lot of weight as a result of not being fed properly. 'He was such a skinny dog and you could see every single bone in his body.' The court heard that a member of the public contacted the RSPCA after seeing Maxie. Magistrates disqualified Musson from keeping all animals for 10 years and handed him a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £300 in costs. Maxie is now in the RSPCA's care and now weighs 18kg. He is ready for re-homing. Inspector Leafe said: 'He is the sweetest dog and he is good as gold.' DieBuhari:i don't think we can marginalize any tribe on this as we can see from the meme flying around on the Internet ,it consist majorly of igbos and Yoruba ,I am yet to see a Hausa man make a meme |
This question keeps popping on my mind over the last 24 hours and I'm still yet to come to a conclusion why Nigerians would resolve at mocking the residents of Lekki and Ajah area Of Lagos. This as a matter of fact is a crucial time when we are suppose to show brotherly love by sending cheers and our prayers to them .Creating funny meme is an act of cowardly ,low self esteem and simple hatred .If you don't believe then I will break it down for you. The present situation is not the residents fault but that of the government which includes Eko Atlantic, the lagos state government and the federal goevernment ,this in the sense that ,they declared the place habitable and conducive which makes those living there find their way there . I kept on wondering over the few hours where we have actually lost it as human ,most are just an effigy or should I call it caricature moving around waiting to be declared dead .How can you in your right senses make mockery of another mans misfortune I will make few reference in this write up and if you are involved ,you should seek for forgiveness . A popular online news platform posted a video of popular Nigerian Stand up Comedian Akpororo ,making joke of people living in Lekki and I was wondering where are those who criticized Yomi Fabiyi of seeking serious and desperate attention by posting Mourning pictures of 'Surutu' Last year a friend of mine lent my car for a wedding taking place at Osapa London ,I was sleeping when he called me to explain the problem he was facing with the car ,in short it got flooded ! I told him to calm down and make sure the car wasn't facing a wash away drainage ,I spent #55,000 after the flood fixing the car . I don't live on the Lagos island but right now ,I know the pain those whose vehicle are flooded would go through .Many go through thick and thin to get an apartment on the island not like they have a choice but they just have to because of their work place . Many Nigerians tag living on the island as trying to raise an ego or show case flamboyant lifestyle ,this is wrong ..You can't be working in Okokomaiko and say the best place to rent an apartment is Ojudu Berger . Recently there was a case of flooding in Japan that left many dead ,incase you missed it you can read on the link below http://rayoonline.com/15-dead-deadly-flood-landslides-hits-japan/ We are seriously praying it doesn't get to that point here in Nigeria ,lots of people close to us would be affected . Now this drew me to that last point , which is this ,there's been flooding across places in Nigeria In the past namely Ibadan ,Aba, Kwara to name a few ,no ones ever made a mockery of it ....Why making a mock of Lekki residents ?? Why Nigerians ?? Those funny meme has been made but we can imbibe some little sense of human by not welcoming them ,When Paris was on fire no body made a meme ,rather we all stood by them by #prayingforparis, why not pray for Lekki and let's blame the government and not the residents I will stop my typing fingers here and awaits critics and those who believe I just spoke the truth .... |
A new study suggests that people should get married between the ages of 28 and 32 if they don't want to get divorced, at least in the first five years. Before we proceed to the explanation: Don't shoot me if you're older than that and not married yet. These are just statistics and can in no way account for your personal situation, or that last cheater/psycho/narcissist you wasted 18 months on. Nobody's blaming you. You are a wonderful and entirely lovable person. Now, moving on. The study was done by Nick Wolfinger, a sociologist at the University of Utah, and published by the generally pro-marriage Institute of Family Studies. It suggests that people who get married between 28 and 32 split up least in the ensuing years. This is a new development; sociologists formerly believed that waiting longer to get hitched usually led to more stability, and there was no real sell-by date. Wolfinger analyzed data from 2006-2010 and the 2011-2013 National Survey of Family Growth. He found a sort of upside down bell curve. "The odds of divorce decline as you age from your teenage years through your late twenties and early thirties," he writes. "Thereafter, the chances of divorce go up again as you move into your late thirties and early forties." For each year after about 32, the chance of divorce goes up about 5% says the study. Some wag over at Slate called this the Goldilocks theory of getting married: you have to be not too young and not too old. There are lots of reasons why late 20s/early 30s would make sense as a time to start a lifelong partnership with someone: people are old enough to understand if they really get along with someone or are just blinded by hormones. They've already made significant life choices and taken on some responsibilities. And they may be just financially solvent enough to be able to contemplate supporting someone should the need arise. On the other hand, they're not so old and set in their ways that they can't make the myriad of little adjustments in habits and lifestyle and goals and personal hygiene that marriage requires. They probably don't have ex-spouses or children among whom they to divide their time, resources and loyalty. Wolfinger says the curve persists "even after controlling for respondents’ sex, race, family structure of origin, age at the time of the survey, education, religious tradition, religious attendance, and sexual history, as well as the size of the metropolitan area that they live in." He thinks the reason might be selection bias. "The kinds of people who wait till their thirties to get married may be the kinds of people who aren’t predisposed toward doing well in their marriages," he writes. This also means "people who marry later face a pool of potential spouses that has been winnowed down to exclude the individuals most predisposed to succeed at matrimony." (Again, I refer you to my caveat in paragraph two. It's Mr. Wolfinger suggesting singles over 32 are not marriage material, not me. ) Other sociologists who cover this waterfront were quick to weigh in with doubts. The University of Maryland's Phillip Cohen used a different set of data, from the American Community Survey, to say that getting older didn't mean your marriage had less chance of survival. According to his analysis, the perfect age to get married if you don't want to get divorced is 45 to 49, which, he notes, is why people shouldn't make life decisions based on statistical analyses on the Internet. There are a few truisms backed by research: Having money and a college degree reduces your chances of getting divorced, as does getting engaged before moving in together and waiting to have kids until after the nuptials. Those you can pretty much take to the bank. Source: http://rayoonline.com/best-age-get-married-according-new-study/

A glamorous Russian journalist has filed a formal complaint against football idol Diego Maradona accusing him of forcible removing her dress when she went to his room to interview him, say reports. The 56-year-old Argentine star denies the claim, and his aides allege the reporter “started undressing herself” prompting him to call hotel security in St Petersburg. Ekaterina Nadolskaya, 30, said she had been in the lobby bar of his hotel when they started talking. “I asked him for an interview. He invited me to his room,” she said. A female friend accompanied her but soon left, according to her account in a complaint to the Russian Investigative Committee, seen as an equivalent of the FBI . “Maradona shut the door, and first starting answering my questions and then began harassing me,” she said. He forced off her dress and she “managed to stop the harassment only when she was in her underwear”, reported newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. Maradona “even tried to take her dress off, and actually managed to do so.” “In turn, he called the hotel security service. “Three people carried me to the corridor. “My belongings were left in the room. “My phone was taken and not returned till three hours later.” She claimed that Maradona’s “assistant came and threw $500 US dollars at me”. The journalist complained that she was forced to sit for three hours in only her underwear in the lobby of the five star hotel before her clothing was returned. “Employees of the hotel tried to kick her out but she insisted she would leave only with police,” said Komsomolskaya Pravda. “Police arrived to the hotel at around 8am.” She said: “That is when I got my dress back. “No one apologised.’ “I am sorry that Maradona acted the way he did, it’s not worthy of a man,” she said. “What he did can be seen on the CCTV footage.” She said she was “stressed out” after the alleged bedroom incident. Sources close to the retired footballer - seen by many as the greatest player ever - said the woman “got to his room and started undressing herself. “Maradona didn’t like it and asked her to leave.” The hotel - which was not named - played down the problem to Russian newspapers, claiming the night was “quiet”. The newspaper said representatives of the Investigative Committee interrogated hotel personnel and Maradona. There was no comment from the Investigative Committee. The Argentine was in Russia for the Confederation Cup final , won by Germany on Sunday. He was an official guest of the tournament organizers. His trip to Russia came amid suggestions he may seek a Russian passport from Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. Vitaly Mutko, Russia’s vice premier and former sports minister, said: “Let’s not run ahead. “We haven’t discussed this but in general he’s willing to talk.” There was no comment from the Investigative Committee. The Nigerian Association of Dermatologists, has said they have begun the process of meeting with some lawmakers at the National Assembly in order to formulate laws that will regulate the manufacture and use of bleaching cream. The Chairman of the Abuja Dermatology Society, Dr. Mohammed Danmallam, who spoke on behalf of NAD, said this during a press conference held in commemoration of the World Skin Health Day in Abuja on Thursday. Danmallam said, “Speaking of legislation, what we are trying to do now is to try to talk to the health committees so that we can see how they can help us in formulating laws and one of the ways to do that is that we are currently conducting an investigation in collaboration with some African countries. “We are trying to come out with statistics and facts so that when we sit down with these legislators, we will be able to give them facts that can convince them and so we can move ahead. You will be surprised by the level and number of people and highly placed people that are currently bleaching unnecessarily.” Speaking on the theme, ‘Skin Conditions: Early Presentation Prevents Complications’, Danmallam said some countries had been able to ban hydroquinone, which is used in the production of bleaching cream. He added that in the United States, the use of hydroquinone was heavily regulated but in Nigeria, bleaching agents were abused due to weak regulation of prescription medicine. The chairman added, “Countries of the world have banned a lot of substances for example, hydroquinone which is the most abused chemical component used in bleaching the skin. It is banned in Europe. “About two per cent of its use was the limit but now it has been banned completely. It is still allowed in the United States but only based on prescription. Unfortunately, we live in a country where everything is prescription-free. “As dermatologists, there are conditions we treat. We treat blemishes but we know the dosage, the side effects and when to stop but in our environment, people go out of their way to use it in a manner that is not seen anywhere in the world.” The chairman said there was no difference between skin toning and bleaching as they both made the skin susceptible to infection. He explained that when people bleach, they kill off matured cells and leave baby cells at the top layer of the skin which are not strong enough to protect the body from infection especially skin cancer. Danmallam added, “Imagine leaving your house in the hands of your five-year-old child. Of course, you know there will be chaos. So, this is particularly what happens and this corrosive agent changes the architecture of your skin completely. That is exactly what happens and that is where the problem starts and at some point, it becomes irreversible and the defense mechanism of the skin has becomes useless.” He urged Nigerians to stop self-medication, adding that they should seek the help of a dermatologist whenever they have problems. The chairman said that lateness in reporting skin conditions could lead to irreparable damage. A tennis fan has painstakingly constructed the world's first replica of Wimbledon 's iconic Centre Court - from 12,000 TOOTHPICKS. Shaminder Singh, 31, started his project ten months ago and has spent 40 hours a week patiently cutting and gluing tens of thousands of toothpicks. The forklift driver bought the teeny pieces of wood from dozens of supermarkets to get the perfect mix of colours for the replica he built in his bedroom. His incredible model of the world's most famous tennis court features the iconic retracted roof, balconies, tiers and stairwells - and of course the Royal box. Single Shaminder from Coventry estimated he spent around 1,600 hours on his model which he completed just in time for the 2017 competition. In 2015 he made a teeny Old Trafford stadium out of 600 toothpicks, and a recycled plastic cricket stadium in memory of the late Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes. Speaking today, he said: "I have spent a lot of time working very hard on my model but I am very proud of it and very pleased with how it looks. "After having made a cricket model and a football model, I decided that I wanted to make something different so decided on tennis. "I used only good quality toothpicks as I did not want ones that would break easily, and I visited different shops like Tesco and B&M because I wanted to have different colours. "I made it all after I got home from nightshifts at work. See More :http://rayoonline.com/wimbledon-fan-spends-10-months-recreating-center-court-using-12000-toothpicks/

Meet Basori Lal - a 50-year-old man who's only 29 inches tall. His brother, Gopi, realised that Basori had stopped growing at the age of five but because the family could not afford to see specialists, he has never been given a medical diagnosis. The 50-year-old lives with his brother, who is of regular height, and Gopi's wife, Satia, in the Madhya Pradesh region of India. He's become a hero in his village and is regularly visited by curious travellers form the surrounding area. Gopi explained that the family feel blessed to have him in their family. He said: “People from different villages come to our house to see my brother. That’s a blessing for us. “We feel proud that people love and care for Basori." And Basori himself is quite happy with his unusually diminutive stature. He said: “I don’t have a problem with my height. I work, live and sleep like other people. I also eat like normal people. “Whatever I am is okay. I don’t face any problems because of my height.” But Basori has faced prejudice over his height earlier on in life. As a toddler Basori was of average height, and it was only later that his family started to notice he was no longer growing. Brother Gopi explained: “Basori was born like a normal kid. He was born a normal height. “Then, when he was five, we noticed that his height was not increasing.” Gopi continued: "Nobody was able to take him to a doctor. We are poor people, I am a labourer. Where would I take him?” "As Basori grew older, he encountered some tough times and experienced some bullying in his village, but thankfully those days are past." Basori said: “People used to bully me a lot. They used to call me an alien. But that time is gone now. I am the only one who is being loved by the villagers.” He now lives happily with Gopi and Satia and works with his sister-in-law in a local factory, and she is keen to pay tribute to her tiny brother-in-law. Satia, aged 50, said: “Basori is a man with positive thinking. He doesn’t have any regret of being too short. It doesn’t bother him.” “All he needs is happiness, good people around him, and a good whiskey.” Now, Basori is content to spend his life living with his brother and working in the factory to earn more money for the family. He said: “I don’t want to get married. I want to work like I am doing right now. I always want to live with my brother.” Indeed, Basori is so happy with his height that he drinks a special toast to it each evening before bed. He said: “I need a glass of whiskey before I go to sleep. That’s my way of celebration.” Source: http://rayoonline.com/meet-50-year-old-man-stopped-growing-age-five/

Live broadcasts are fast becoming very popular. You no longer have to rely on a camera crew to go live, thanks to social media. Any organisation, business or individual can now do this; from your smartphone or computer, you can broadcast live from the comfort of your home, event centre or office. Your broadcast can potentially and instantly reach thousands of people or a targeted audience. This is quite amazing! However, how can you ensure that your social media live broadcast goes smoothly without any hiccups? Here are seven ways you can do this. 1. Promote your broadcast Promoting or advertising your live broadcast on social media costs $10. Since you do not have to break the bank to pay this amount, you can promote your live broadcast on whatever platform you want to utilise. This will make more people aware of your broadcast. If you are a celebrity, a tweet or post will suffice. 2. Prepare and practice Before you go live, you have to plan, prepare and practise. You need to ensure that viewers are able to hear you clearly. 3. Determine how long you want to broadcast You need to decide if you want to broadcast the whole programme or just some highlights. It is important to know this because you do not want to end the broadcast at the middle and leave your viewers hanging. Let your audience know if it will be a full or short broadcast. 4. Choose a spot that has a strong Internet No internet, no live broadcast. So, ensure that you look for a strong internet spot that will be uninterrupted. Jumia Travel urges you to have enough data that will last throughout the broadcast. 5. Do a test run video Before you go live for the first time, do a test live broadcast. For Facebook, you can set the privacy setting to ‘Only Me’ in the ‘Who Should See This?’ You will see the live video exactly as it will appear. 6. Get live feedback If you want your viewers to provide feedback and ask you questions during the broadcast, you have to set this up on certain social media platforms. Their feedback, comments, and questions will appear on the screen. Do not ignore their questions. 7. Analyse the results You can easily get the metrics of your live broadcast immediately you finish. You will see the total number of people who watched your video. You can use this to decide if you want to continue with the live broadcast in your next programme or not. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has fixed Saturday, July 1 to conduct supplementary Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for 85,000 candidates. The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, announced the date in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja. According to him, the examination, which is for candidates who registered late and those with related issues, will be spread across some Computer Based Testing centres. “Following an enlarged management meeting of the JAMB, the supplementary 2017 UTME has been fixed to hold on Saturday, July 1. “No fewer than 85,000 candidates are scheduled to write the examination. “Affected candidates have been notified through text messages. “By this notice, they are advised to check their e-mail and profile for the schedule of their examination or visit the board’s website for their status,’’ Benjamin said. According to him, candidates will soon be requested to print their e-slip for details such as date, venue and time of the examination. The board noted that candidates, who are not listed for the supplementary, would not be communicated while those, whose results are withheld, would reflect in their profiles, which have been updated. The board also advised rescheduled candidates to comport themselves and be of good behaviour to avoid the circumstance that earlier necessitated the cancellation of their previous examination. “Many of the candidates rescheduled for this examination enjoy this privilege because of the board’s principles of equality and inclusiveness. “It is better to let 100 offenders go free than to punish one innocent person. “The board will enhance its monitoring of the examination as it would not compromise its sanctity.” 1.7 million candidates registered for the 2017 UTME in 633 centres across the country. The examination was conducted from May 13 to May 20 but the board cancelled the results of more than 50,000 candidates. It also delisted 48 Computer Based Testing centres over what was described as huge and organised malpractices. (NAN) http://rayoonline.com/85000-candidates-write-supplementary-utme-july-1-jamb/ |
