Congrats Prof. Andrew. Nice hearing a good news out of Zaria after many years.
Glad to say he was my first biochemistry lecturer in MBBS 200 level at faculty of medicine, ABU Zaria. 1993. ( 20 years ago)
He was always talking about his research work in Japan and how he had access to all the materials at the lab. This made me vowed to do my postgraduate studies in the best setting and am doing best to represent Nigeria.

A good write up but will our various e warriors bother to read it.
As per the tribal or ethnic war on Nairaland, the blame should be on the administrators of the forum. There are lots of hateful and divisive comments coming from the warriors and yet the moderators and super moderators at times just fold their hands, enjoying the tribal yabis, at times even joining in the whole tirade of shame.
NL owner should know that all should not be about money. I believe he and his team allowed such fight to rage on because of internet traffic and money it generates.
NL is fast loosing it credibility among the old forum members and I can tell u a good well moderated site will soon push it aside because of its mediocrity.

I have gone through some of your post and found that you are a hell monger preacher. Is that what is been preached in Deeper Life?
You can't achieve much in preaching fear of hell but rather love of God which makes you forgo love of flesh and pride of life. People only fear for some time and later go back to their old ways.
You are busy promoting people with some unverifiable visions which may even be demonic inspired and you called it godly visions.
Do your research very well and stop making ridicule of yourself and the body of Christ. There has been various so called visions, map and pictures over the years. Why are they not the same, why are some of them contradicting the scriptures.
Your message should be heaven at last and the way to get there not promoting the fact that those who don't believe in your philosophy will end up in hell.
Are your postings edifying Christ?

kaeto: True! The yorubas are working hard against GEJ, using every necessary tool to bring him down and amaechi is the tool they are using now. Be that as it may, i expect my yoruba brothers who are hier to noise making ancestors to always remember they have not made any president in Nigeria before and that whoever they support loses. MKO's case was different, all the regions made him. I mean look at all the people the yorubas supported in times past, they all failed. From awolowo, olu falaye, buhari in 2003, atiku in 2007, nuhu ribadu in 2011. The list is endless. They make good threats as well as political losers. Tinubu also knows he can't father an arrogant son like amaechi so why the hypocrisy? Its a pity amaechi's hands are not clean, with multi billion dollar refinery in ghana, investments littered all over the world, me think his wealth fuels his arrogance.
I think you much be very stuwpid* and immature to have brought in ethnicity here. If you don't know history , I advised you to go and do research and know the voting pattern of Nigerians.
Yorubas has only one voting pattern and they vote enmass for a particular person once they believe in you, not because of your ethnicity or money. They voted against OBJ in 1999, voted for him in 2003, voted for Yaradua in 2007 and GEJ in 2011.
Where did you get your own statistics from? You are just blinded by ethnic loyalty ,stuwpidity and ignorance to see and acknowledge the fact. Yorubas don't support blindly, if Tinubu mess up tomorrow ,they will vote against him, they did it in 1990 in Lagos.
In your own word, Yorubas are the one responsible for the Rivers face off. You better wake up

Christianity EtcRe: Kumuyi Offers To Resign Over Son's Wedding Controversy by teetee123: 6:40pm On Jul 07, 2013
bknight: Whether d doctrines of deeper life bible church are right or wrong is another matter entirely, left for another day. I think their lifestyle is just to help curb the many ills of society.

If you joined an association with their rules, regulations, guidelines and ultimately- lifestyle, then abide by them or you let be and dont be among.
If an adult doesn't hold same belief with a group of people, why remain with them?

If the couple didn't like the lifestyle of the church they shld hv gone to marry elsewhere to spare d church/their parents this ridicule. Or wear the approve wears and leave after their wedding.

But d groom didn't break any of their rules, why punish his father? The bride is coming from her father's house and expected to still be under her father. So yes, d bride's father deserved d axe
Why should parents be punished for the behaviour of their adult children. It is a very wrong rule - man made principle. Salvation is personal not tied to parental apron.
If DL says parents of couples are to be punished for their wayward kids then Pastor Kumuyi should not be an exception. He formulated the laws and many parents have served punishment in past for the wrongs of their wards.

This should be a lesson to DL that shortcomings of your wards does not make u a failure or mean you have committed sins. Legalism will not stand the test of time

HealthRe: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by teetee123: 8:29pm On Jun 30, 2013
grandstar: Transplants here are not regular and worse are not advertised! Nigeria bars its hospitals from advertising so you may have the best heart transplant hospital next door to you and you may not know. That is d prime advantage india has and cheap doctors
The medical council in Nigeria does not allow advertisement but you can do a lot of public awareness about important issues like special treatment.
Government established special centres of excellence in some of the teaching hospitals- UNTH Enugu - heart surgery, ABUTH- Oncology etc. There is nothing that stops a common man on the street to know they where they can access treatment for special cases and ask for referral to these places instead of going out of the country. The referring doctors to these foreign hospitals also have their shares most of the time and may not be interested in referring to a Nigerian hospital or tell the patient about the options.
Despite being in the medical field and with friends in ilorin before relocating , I never knew UITH renal centre of excellence is really functioning. I am happy reading that UITH has a good success rate and I think @poster popped up a good and thought provoking question.
HealthRe: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by teetee123: 8:06pm On Jun 30, 2013
There are lots of issue about kidney transplant and Nigerian system:
1. We do have trained specialists but most left the shores of the country after been frustrated by the system .Why call yourself a transplant surgeon when their are no equipment to work with..
2. Some hospitals in recent time have carried out some transplant but we do not know the success rate.
The surgery is not the big issue but getting the right donor organ which may take long and needed to be tested to see if it matches.we do not have the culture of donating organs. In Asia especially India and China people sell their organs. Can sell one kidney and still survive on one.
Post surgery period is also very crucial- lots of immunity suppression therapy to avoid rejection of the new organ by the body. Rejection means back to square one.
3. Never knew kidney transplant in India goes up to 16M as in OJB case. I believe it depends on the hospital and those acting as agent for them. It shouldnt be more than 7M.
Need to get a matched organ, in western world a close relation is likely to donate if he matches the recepient but Nigerians are likely to buy.
Flight to India for 2 people - patient and care giver (brother or wife)
Surgery bill
Pre surgery and post surgery medication
4. The Nigerian hospitals that have good success rate should do a lots of good publicity about it so that our people will know about it. I understand St.Nicholas and some teaching hospitals have some good records..
A friend talked about attending an international urology conference, while regional hospitals in Europe were talking about the carrying out many kidney transplant surgery yearly the only Nigerian professor there could only talked about few renal biopsy that his teaching hospital carried out in the last five years. This is a routine and common procedure in the regional hospitals.
Mind you there are also fake treatment centres in India. I have seen many messed up cases coming from India which ironically would have been done here without any problem.

Are you so surprised that your uncomfirmed post is already on front page?
Come to think of it, were you not in a special meeting at the DL church and you had the time
to send the news to a social medium. What yo do expect from NL, praise of DL?

You are one of the defenders of DL and this includes myself in previous threads and the comments on
internet should have informed you that there is no love lost between DL and social media commentators including NL.
NL is a business venture looking for high traffic flow and what a better way to get this if not religious or tribal
bashing or on every news about Tonto Dike and Don Jazzy versus Dbanj.NL knows that many Nigerians
are extremely sentimental when it comes to tribe or religion and they use this make their own dole. My understanding is that the issue is a DL family affair and you dont broadcast such and be complaining about it later.
What have you achieved with the post? 1st to post or 1st to comment? At times we open our organisations to ridicule
by our immature behaviour.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu’s Daughter To Replace Abibatu Mogaji As New ‘iyaloja’? by teetee123: 10:25pm On Jun 24, 2013
People should not come here and start saying things they are not sure of. This is not fiction section.
Iyaloja is the 2nd most important female title after Iyalode in yorubaland. Iyalode- head of all the women. Iyaloja - head of the market women.
These titles are NOT HEREDITARY. They are not paternalistic like the main male titles therefore are not passed to descendants .

The war titles- Baloguns and Oloroguns( war chiefs and commanders ) are hereditary and only the direct descendants of the first title holders are entitled to it. So also is the Mogajis( district or sectional heads)- hereditary or people from that area.
There are other titles which are just honorary and not hereditary.

Iyalode and iyaloja are honorary, given at the prerogative of the Oba. He gives an ally who must have helped him financially while he is fighting for the throne. These women are always one of the richest and politically influential and influences major decision such as who becomes the king. They are spiritually powerful women most don't have kids but adopt. ( Awon Iya that can fly in day time). Eg Madam Efunyero Tinubu and , Efunsetan Aniwura (2 Egba women who were the richest in their time and controlled Lagos and Ibadan economy and politics despite being from Abeokuta)

The present Otun iyaloja should be the next to take over (that 2nd ic) while Tinubu daughter can become the new Osi Iyaloja. As in the case of all title, if you are not in good book of the Oba and government no show for you.

I don't believe Tinubu daughter who is likely to be less than 40 years and still menstruating will venture into taking that title now. You will automatically become a member of the Ogbonis. No be small thing to control the old women in those Lagos market and other Iyalojas. It will be like taking Aare Ona Kakanfo title - Automatic death sentence for her.

Christianity EtcRe: Mrs Kumuyi’s Wedding Outfit Vs A Deeper Life Member’s by teetee123:
This is the 4th thread created on this subject in the last one week. Can't we just let go.

Why is this particular thread on front page when there are other trending ones presently on the 15th page.
Moderator should do his work of emerging them and redirecting comments.

These are my observations with respect to the other threads:

1. Someone decided to play dirty and edit the bride picture. Putting ear ring, make up and others in pic.. The real picture is on the other thread in family section. They even put a picture of a limo

2. I believe this is not an issue of double standard by Pastor Kumuyi. DLBC members in the western world do have their wedding done wearing gown, veil, bridal train , cutting cake unlike in Nigeria where the bride put turban on her head and dress like mother in Israel.

3. Mrs Esther Kumuyi ( pastor Kumuyi. 2nd wife) wore suit skirt during her wedding with a hat 2 year ago. This is their dressing mode in London for wedding unlike Nigeria.

4. So why the noise about this wedding that took place in Kingston , Jamaica. The couple live in US and are westernised. . Don't let us just be passing comments blindly.

5. Someone posted a video where Pastor Kumuyi talked about not forcing people to wear shabby dressing for wedding. Check the other thread

6. Xtianity is a race but not against others but YOURSELF. If you finish the race you win. Why the animosity among xtians to pull others down. Christ is not divided.

7. Xtianity is not following doctrine of men but the word of God. Go back to the word. Decide what to wear, eat ,see but accordingly and not what your pastor feels.

8. Read the book, Deeper Life- the extraordinary growth of deeper life bible church by a briton, Alan Isaacson.
He did a research on the church. It will make you understand what is really happening in DLBC

9. Let deeper life members judge their GS. Wetin concern you , na ur money or be ur pastor? Hypocrites. Chief justices of righteousness, registrar at the gate of judgement. Like someone said on another thread this really shows the depth of the hatred of DLBC.

Artesunate has not been banned, chloroquine is no longer used as a first line drug according to WHO. fansidar is used as IPT in pregnancy in 2nd trimester. these drugs are still very much being used.
Doc, I totally agree with you. In treating non complicated malaria, I found that most people have to take 2 types of anti malarial to have a complete cure. Most people do not have a cure until they take chloroquine despite starting with the so called expensive ACTs.
We also have fake drug problem.
I personally believe there was more of economical and political reasons for relegating chloroquine to a second line medication. There were lots of research errors in the study that was done across Nigeria in 2005/2006 which was used as one of the yardsticks for this decision.
