I stand corrected then. Thanks

I beg to differ. The masters adds 5 points to skill select and there is extra points if that study is in regional Australia.

If PR is the ultimate goal, i will advise you actually go the PR Route processing right from Nigeria as having a Masters doesnt add any additional points for Skill select. You still need a minimum of 1 year relevant job experience to scale VETASSESS. So there is no point spending so much money going through Student route if you can spend less by applying for PR from Nigeria.

Please, what's the prospect of getting PR after 2 years MSc in Agricultural Science related field. And what's the job prospects in Australia for Agricultural Science students?

Hi Mamas,I have two questions pls i started my 6mo baby on formula recently after exclusive breastmilk. I give Aptamil, baby rice cereal and also supplementing with breast milk daily. I noticed for the past 3 weeks, her poo is constantly greenish black..

1. Is this caused by the formula,so should I stop?
2. Is it necessary to start giving teething drugs in preparation for teething? Mil is suggesting piccan but I'm skeptical about drugs. Is cough syrup even allowed for babies?

Mama pls chook mouth oh. Help a first timer abeg

My baby also had uneven folds during her 8 weeks check with the maternal childhealth nurse. She recommended an ultrasound for her hips to eliminate this hip dislocation. I did an ultrasound every 6 weeks for three times till 26 weeks and the doctor eventually said her hips were normal and the creases were mostly due to fat. So i will advise you check this out as it can be corrected if detected early and also to comfort you as it may just be normal and due to fat too.

Yuzee:
Hey fam, my 19weeks old daughter has uneven folds on her thighs(3 on the left, 2 on the right). I'm worried sick because I have read that if the folds are not equal on both legs, that it could be a sign of hip dislocation (developmental dysplasia of the hip)... Anyone on here whose child has had folds on the thighs that are not same number/even and has no problem with walking or crawling please do reply me and allay my anxiety. Thanks

Wow. Been awhile i came on here. Really interesting views.
Covert racism is practiced here but i found that asserting myself and being excellent at what I do earned me respect.

The one thing i initially missed about Nigeria was the food but recently i have come to discover almost all our local foods are available e.g. ewedu, mushrooms, dry fish, fresh efo tete/soko etc., Eating out is too expensive jare. Quick dash to Hungry Jack/MacDonalds can cost you $30 while buying 12kg of Semo is just $20 grin

Peope here like Going Dutch too lipsrsealed cry cry A friend had a birthday dinner in the city recently. We were a party of 6 in a chinese restaurant. When the bill was brought, we had spent about $400. We had to split it equally despite not eating the same ijekuje. Birthday celebrants rarely carry the total costs except very few who will rather have a home party.

Daycare in my area is about $110 per day with Centrelink paying about 50% of this. Gas bills is about $160 every 60days, Electricity is close to $300 per quarter, Water is roughly $80 per quarter.

Drivers license is gold really. My hubby got his licence at first drive test. I am at the last stage and still dreading to even book my drive test. My Sis did it 5 times before getting her license. I have not been driving for a long time hence my reluctance.

Inviting family to Australia was also an easy process, it took longer than we hoped but we were able to bring my mom over for Omugwo. Seeing Australia through her eyes was beautiful because she was enthralled by the system. The 24-hours light alone and access to Youtube all day to listen to her evergreen songs and countless Nollywood and mount zion movies kept her busy and occupied. There are also some nice tourist destinations such as Australia Botanical gardens, Melbourne Star wheel, Melbourne SeaLife etc...

Australia is really whatever you make of it. you learn to cut your coat according to your size. And also maximise sales to buy stuffs we need. Its almost a year and i am still learning...

chidike:
Guys, please ensure you register for ambulance cover in your state for both emergency and non emergency services. You never know when you may need it. Ambulance services are not covered under Medicare and if you ever have an ambulance called, you'll have to pay about 1000 dollars (whether you enter or not). So get a cover, it's not that expensive, for a single guy in Victoria it's about 94 dollars per annum. You can google ambulance services for your state to get more info. Note that some private health insurers dont provide ambulance on some plans.

Also, remember to get private health insurance if you're earning over $90k as an individual or $180k as a couple. If you don't, you'll have to pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge during tax season and the minimum charge us 1% but could go up to 1.5%. See more details below. Cheers!

As Australian residents we all have the right to health care through Medicare, a system partly funded by taxpayers, many of whom pay a Medicare levy of 2% of their taxable income. Your Medicare levy is reduced if your taxable income is below a certain threshold, meaning that some people may not have to pay the levy at all.

However, if you don’t have appropriate hospital cover and your annual income* is over $90,000 as a single, or over $180,000 as a couple/family then you could also be hit with the MLS. The family income threshold is increased by $1,500 for each MLS dependent child after the first child.

This means, when tax time rolls around, that recent pay rise that just tipped you over $90,000 suddenly isn’t looking so flash. That’s because the MLS starts at 1% and, if your annual income* continues to increase, it can be up to 1.5%. Certainly enough to make your eyes water.

But, if your annual income* is over the above thresholds and you take out ahm hospital cover you can wave goodbye to the MLS and say hello to a healthy peace of mind and, potentially, save some money at the same time. Talk about a win-win

BS.

EDD Nov 29th came and passed with no sign. I intensified my walks and exercises and started having mild contractions at night.By morning, the pains will disappear. During the day on 1st December, i saw a little mucus bloody show and Real contractions started by 11pm same day. I called my clinic (pregnancy assessment unit) around 1am to inform them and i was told since my water had not broken and the pain was not taking my breath away, i should try hang on till morning before coming. Around 4am, i gave them a repeat phone call, the midwife allayed my fears and still asked me to hang in there till morning. At this point, i had to wake up hubby as the contractions were quite close and painful. We were like that o till around 7am when he eventually drove me to the clinic. At the clinic, the contractions reduced, i was confused. Was checked and was told i was still at 2cm and can only be admitted at 4cm so we were sent back home. From 9am till around 4pm on that Sunday, i was in pains at home. Hubby tried everything, from hot water bath to hot compress massage, walking and finally we settled on watching music videos as the contractions were hitting me and i was peeing every second.
Around 4pm, i couldnt take it anymore, we returned back to the clinic and i was checked. I was at 5cm so i was admitted into the birthing suite. I took another hot shower, changed into the hospital gown and was given gas and air for the pain. Around 6pm, i requested for a stronger pain relief so i was given morphine injection on my thigh. it didnt take away the pain completely but made it easier to deal with. The hospital rule was examination was to be done every 4 hours so i was checked at 5pm and was 5cm gone. I was checked again at 9pm and was still 5cm. Aaaah after all the pain. All this while the baby was being monitored by something attached to my stomach and thigh and she was doing well. At 9pm, my waters were broken to facilitate dilation. I only increased by 1cm to 6cm. I was checked again by 1am and i was on 9cm. By this time, i was already exhausted. Morphine had worn off and i was so high on gas and air, i was feeling dizzy, nauseous and could barely feel the contractions or even urge to push. My midwife was extremely nice and patient. My sis and hubby also were there holding me on each side and their support really meant alot. The midwife had to ask me to start pushing gradually. She used the fetal monitoring system to know when my contractions were coming and asked me to breathe in and push. We did this for over 1 hour and eventually my baby was born 2:02am on the 3rd of December, 2018 with a little tear weighing 3.68kg. The instant relief is better felt than described. My Vee was numbed and stitched and 2 hours later, i was able to walk to the ward myself after all their examination.
Naso i port from November 29th to December 3rd.
BS Submitted. Hope to be back soon..2020 crew grin kiss grin

Yeah.Someone can pay for you using a foreign card. Sent you a pm

applepiepr:
Hello Everyone,

If you've paid for the 189 visa fees, please can you tell me the best and cheapest means to pay. Is it possible to have someone pay for me with his foreign card, will that not be flagged as fraud.

I tried paying Pearson that way for my PTE and they just locked my account and flagged it as fraud. Took me another 4 weeks to get it unlocked.

Please any advice for your brother?

If you are a PR or citizen then you’d be able to write them invititation and believe me the process is easy and straightforward. I had my mum and my sister over last month, my wife wrote the invite as she’s a citizen n I’m not (me=TR). I did the application myself and it took 3 weeks to process and receive their grants, all they did was get their biometrics captured in Lagos and there’s no medicals for the tourist visa steam. If you need any information please don’t hesitate to ask, good luck!
Interesting. Please I will like to know how many months/year was approved for the tourist visa.
I have submitted an application for my mom for close to 3 weeks now. Biometrics have been done and I was thinking she will be contacted for medicals too... Still waiting for any info

Good evening,I just received my skill assessment report from the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM). Unfortunately my work experience was reduced from 6yrs to 18 months which means i won’t be able to claim any point on work experience. My question is do i still need to provide employment documents when filling my EOI form?
You might still need to upload employment documents if 1 year compulsory experience is mandatory (Vetassess). Not sure if same applies to your assessing body. But you don't need to extensively prove your employment anymore..just d few necessary documents, payslip for duration considered relevant, employment letter etc.
