On the one hand I think it’s really brave for someone to willingly end his own life, but that is as far as the accolades go. Such a person is truly a coward and a wicked person. What manner of challenges do you think you are facing in life that hasn’t been faced before and overcome? What kind of problem do you have that is so big that you choose to end it all? How selfish are you that you don’t even deign to consider the people that love you before killing yourself? Are you so self absorbed that you can’t see that it’s not all about you? That you’re hurting someone other than yourself?

They’ll say ‘But people are different. Some people aren’t strong enough.’ I acknowledge the fact that some people aren’t strong enough, and that depression is real, but still, WHY?

WHY?

If anything I only wish I can resurrect the person and then kill him/her with my own bare hands so that at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that I took the choice out of their hands.

Suicide is cowardly. Suicide is selfishness. Suicide is not the easy way out.

For this singular reason I truly hope that hell is real and the perpetrators will continue to suffer in the afterlife in eternal torment after all taking one’s life is a sin. (I don’t really mean this, but I’m just speaking from a place of pain. Suicide has become prevalent among Nigerians in the last few years. Even the ones you think are happy and content aren’t not necessarily so e.g Robin William).

To all my warriors and champions out there, keep striving, keep pushing, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. You are not the first to go through what you’re currently going through and trust me you won’t be the last. Take solace in this fact. This too shall pass.

Funny how birds have more priority than humans.

Why do birds have food, but not humans? From a religious perspective this is callous . So birds and wild animals are the ones provided for? Any yet they don't read their Bibles or attend church. They don't pay tithes. Why do humans try so much?

Your speech can only give hope to someone who was not serious about suicide in the first place.

Why are you so obsessed with atheists, and equally obsessed with defining what atheism is. Why are you not satisfied with the simple definition of atheism, which is simply a lack of theism or simply put lack of belief in any God. As long as you do not believe in a god, you are an atheist - nothing more, nothing less.

I for one had never really believed in a God. While i was young i passed through the motions parents take their children through, ie, got baptized, went to Sunday school, join the choir, etc, but i never really understood or even thought about what God is. That was even before i showed interest in the sciences. So as soon as i left home, i threw away all vestiges of Christianity and felt free.
When i was at university of Ife, my born again classmates and I would argue till dawn about Christianity and it's imposed salvation, but later, i found out that arguments leads to no where and everyone was set in their positions. So i stopped arguing with Christians. Even here on nairaland, i avoid senseless religious arguments, i only try and corrects scientific misconceptions, lies and falsehood being propaganda by some ignorant or mischievous theists.

I do not try to convert anybody, even my wife is a good born again Christian who performs all religious obligation. The only one i quarrel with is the so called night vigil. To me, i do not see the sense in a married woman staying all night in the name of special prayers, as if god does not hear prayers in daylight hours. Besides, there is no biblical basis for night vigils, it sounds more like an African traditional religious practice.

So which category will you put someone like me.

On the contrary, why are atheists so interested in Christians, in particular?

The world has a hundred and one religions and yet all you find atheists going on and on about is Christianity.

I do not believe in trying to preach to an atheist. Each to his own belief. If you could be a Christian you would be one, and if I could be a Buddhist I would be one. The end justifies the belief. People can debate religion with atheists and ten years on nobody's position has changed.

One thing I've learned about atheists, though, is that they think they are intelligent. But they always get intelligence and pseudo-intellectualism mixed up. Hence atheists are ineffectual.

If one cannot question their origins on deeper reasoning, or feels that the solution is before us and yet cannot show us, then that one is void of sense.

Everybody is intelligent. That one decides to believe in what the other can't (God)is not a sign of lack of intelligence. Most pitiful are the atheists who believe that science disproves God.

Science is simply a standard/quality of education. It does not quantify intelligence or atheism, a popular misconception among atheists. Science is available to all. I do not know why those who call themselves atheists cannot determine this.

Yet you find atheists bludgeoning ever Christian thread or discussion they can find. If you believe it doesn't exist, and it really doesn't, what are you fighting so hard to prove about it? Why do atheists generate a lot of time on something that can't exist?

But in the end all the dichotomy from disbelief and belief does nothing to change the end.

The important thing is having no fears and not quaking in the end.

You should be able to differentiate between Hep A, which is transmitted as you said via oro-fecal route and causes acute but treatable Hepatitis and Hep B and C which are transmitted PRIMARILY via BLOOD AND BODY FLUIDS exchange (very similar to HIV transmission) and can remain dormant for years till a trigger causes the irreparable inflammation and cirrhosis of the Liver as reported in the article.

Well I think that was the only risk factor the OP was able to bring out from the history. Then Hepatitis A and E are contracted by faeco-oral route, B,C,D by sexual contact and contact with infected blood via ways like transfusion, needle prick, sharing sharps etc. Sharing food isn't a risk factor except contaminated food, and that can only transmit Hepatitis A and E which hardly ever cause chronic hepatitis. Sharing toilet doesn't transmit hepatitis at all.

Well, that last bit comes as a surprise, if it's true.

One would expect the urine of an infected person in a toilet to infect another.

How sure are you that the hepatitis was gotten from a razor used 42 years earlier? Why and how did they all incubate this same hepatitis for decades, if at all that is true? Where is this special razor blade and the results from tests carried out on it?

The hepatitis could have been caught some time recently and perhaps bad drinking habits caused it to surface. Hepatitis is contagious and so people who share drinks and food can infect themselves with it. If it's more contagious than HIV then toilet use is a way in which it is spread(urine left on toilet seats, etc). Hepatitis can also be gotten from poorly washed fruits, too.

I believe more hepatitis awareness is needed. As a medical personnel, who says it's a cheap test, why doesn't the author encourage people to do it by actually stating the current price range?

On the contrary, you are the confused one and should ignore, as it is the best option for you.

Freewill does not require a conscience. It means you can steal and kill if you please, and you don't have to feel bad about it. A conscience means that you are free to do so, too, but you know of the consequences and are worried about carrying out such evil acts because of their nature. A conscience is what maintains law nowadays. But we tend to think of criminals evil because they do not listen to their conscience and in some instances do not have one.

Next time, before you display your lower reasoning, try and stop to think.

Is'nt the bolded statement a contradiction? Prior to eating the fruit, adam and Eve was just in obedience to every instruction from God. That means they were merely robots before eating the fruit. What you are saying is that the only Freewill God granted them is to choose between eating the fruit or not, other than that, they were incapable of disobeying God.

To me the only error Adam and Eve made was eating the Fruit of the tree of Knowledge first, if they had eating the fruit from the tree of life, they would have been immortal. That means God would not have the power to threaten them anymore, they could then go and eat from the fruit of the tree of Knowledge without God being in a position to do anything.

I do not believe you understand what I was saying. Nowhere did I state that they were robots. The thought to eat the fruit simply had never crossed their minds. Not until, with the freewill bestowed on her like every other human, Eve decided she would like to eat the fruit.

You made a nice point there, but I would think that your statement that conscience was awoken is more correct than saying that the disobedience brought about a conscience. Don't you think that God must have created then with a conscience, but this conscience came into play when they erred? In other words, I don't think that conscience is a direct result of the sin.

Perhaps I didn't state it clearly or you didn't understand me, but we are saying the same thing.

That's where freewill comes in.

You cannot say that knives should not be made because some choose to murder with them. Everything is there for a purpose. But the choice on how to use them lies on individuals.

Man has always had the choice of freewill, and that is why the first humans were given instructions in the first place, to instill a sense of order. This same free will allowed Eve to choose to pluck a fruit and Adam in his own freewill chose to eat it.

The only role the tree had to play is that once eaten it brought about conscience. Why? Because the moment one was to eat it, they would disobey God. Nobody needed to tell Adam and Eve that they had disobeyed. The moment they ate it, their conscience was awoken. Perhaps not directly by the fruit itself, but in consequence of eating it. They hid themselves without being told to. The first feeling of guilt ever recorded. The consequence of sin.

Prior to eating it, a conscience was not needed, because it was just obedience to every instruction from God. But once eaten with freewill it burdened Adam and Eve. Most people tend to blame Eve, however Adam had the same measure of freewill every other creation. Conscience is the direct result of eating the fruit. Freewill is ingrained in creation.
