Actually there waz no single light in the room, just the flashes from both camera, u neva noticed any flashlight on N8's shot cos it made an actual focus on the top of the fan,(directing all its focus to the top)leaving other angles including the floor. That is proper autofocusing. Funny u bro.

I think i did mention in one of my post about the very 1st 701 i used for FM transmission, and now that i bought a used one from another person, does this means that both 701 should be sent to Nokia Care? common man.. N97 has the same weak FM Transmitter so i dont blame nokia for repeating the same chipset placement over another model, i was planning on getting N900 cos of its stong FM transmission but its awesome knowing they put that same chipset on N8.
Man, i do understand that you trying to value what you have. its nature. i even knew somone with an E5 always boasting of it as the best phone Nokia ever produced. funny though. The 8mp fixed focus cam suits your needs cos it is the only one that is embedded on your phone and u v got no option. I think i have mentioned that that Megapixels and sizes dosen't really count, it is the quality that matters. if u take a picture with your phone and shrink it to a smaller size, u dont get another quality other than the one that the camera produced so its still the same. There is nothing so "SUPERB IN ALL FRONTS" about 701 as u claimed,( infact am posting with it currently) and that goes to every Nokia devices as well, i did mention of Nokia devices and their own specific feature targets in my previous reply to u, (that is if u went through them before posting). for example, N900 will have been so perfect assuming it has a JAVA feature . 701 is cheaper cos some hardwares has been cut down to reduce cost.. look at the old N70 & N72.. N72 was newer with improved Ram and processor but lacks most hardwares of its predecessor. 701 has improved CPU/RAM plus bright screen to its credit and nothing more.. YES. NOTHING MORE.. A TFT SCREEN, Fixed camera, LED FLASH, Poor Transmission and Video out hardware doesnt make it "PERFET & SUPERB in all fronts"
Well, MR ALL ROUNDER, Galaxy S II has got unique features but has it got your 701's FM Transmitter or 12MP carlz zeiss cam and HDMI of N8? So u see, u dont go with "GBOGBO-ERO" just because its the most talked about in town. you go with what suits your needs, just as u love your 701 and as much as i love N8. although i have a 701 now, the N8 might be slower when processing a complex data than 701 but with few seconds more patience, it gets to the finishing point that the 701 got to. but my 701 can never take a CORRECT snapshot, get me an HDMI Movie enjoyment, serve me good AV out movie or produce me a good Music transmission in the car like an N8. Gbam. so u see bro, u go for what suits ur needs or end up getting all devices with latest qualities and keep wasting resources.. Hope i made myself clear, My ALL ROUNDER brother. lol.

Here again, i uploaded the snaphot of the same fan turned on, with my 14mp Sony camera (not a phone o) as well as Nokia N8's 12mp. U can see both devices displayed the blades as static which is cool, but the SONY's picture seems to have more Whitish appearance which isnt my favourite cos the N8 produced the original colour of the backround and actual appearance of the whole stuff (plus actual focus). i took the shots from the back so u could stop your doubts. u can zoom the pic to see if the fan's control was turned on or not. i resized the pictures so i could upload them..

, nothing really changed my bro. I never displayed any bias as far as N8 is concerned, actually anytime i get a new device, i do tend to utilise it more than the old one but there are some features that are just not present in the new one and its so impotant to me.
1. No, The sim card and MiscrSd slot isnt proper, u like it like that cos u are used to it.. Normally when u remove the sim and u place it back in, the device restarts, so its no use putting the sim above cos the same thing happens when u remove and insert a battery, the phone has to reboot.. The MicroSD should be at least Hot swappable and not the SIM cos MemCard swapping is useful.. even though N8 has both slots Hot swappable bot i dont just go with hot swapping a sim, the device reboots anyway.
2.FM Transmitter, Nope i dont believe u, what was the length of th radio and the phone when u used it? sincerely speaking, i prefer those cheap 1k car mp3 to that of a 701, this morning i connected an extra wire to the antenna hole in d car radio and placed the wire close the space where i actually keep my phone before 701's transmitter could pick up a good signal, i hate that wire though but guess what, it also gave the N8 a boost. cos now i can even sit on the bonnet and still get a good FM transmission, i even placed the phone in the boot and the thing still dey connect..
3. Those are the ones coming, they are not yet here bro. change my mind?? cos of 5.1 surround sound and new widgets?? noooo. well i v got the 701 now so FP1 update will meet me here sha.. hehe, will extract all the new FP1 widget into N8 firmware and flash just like i did for the belle widgets.. i love the fact that N8 is twickable, i know the phone will definitely run away if it sees me again in the next world. lol.
4. Ah, dont compare iphone sales with Nokia. they both have their different market targets in building their new devices. Iphone makes improvements to everything included in their previous designs and releases it when the v reached their targeted percentage of previous sales. but Nokia will make a new device with some improvements on demand and still place some old chipset just to increase the sales of their previous packages. their devices only get all round change if it was for their Flagship.
take for example, CAMERA,HDMI + Multimedia Production,N8.. Big screen + Multimedia consumption,X7.. Sexiness + Bright Screen,701.. Keyboard,E7.. Memory, N9.. Real pocket Pc, N900 and so many other ones. these phones have their own specific target areas so you just go for the one that targets your specific needs, otherwise u gonna keep buying nokias and keeps complaining. thier flagships always has something exciting to go for, just like those days of N70, 5800, N8 and now 808.. (though they v all got their own weakness)
5. ABOUT THE PICTURE. yeske, i know u will argue about that, lol. first, i cheated the N8 with the lightning cos i didn't put the room light on when snapping cos i wanted to know if you are going to take a closer look at them so well, but surprisingly, the Xenon gave a enough light and even made a good capture of the fan blades without a noticeable spin despite the faact that i zoomed, but 701 wasnt close to being ok with the room light off so i switched on the light (its a medium room bulb though) and joined it with the LED flash. ABOUT THE BLADES, N8 shot came out perfectly not only because of its strong Mechanism but because it has a Xenon flash, u are not looking closely enough though, cos if you do, u ll notice some ronded/oval thin shapes that follows the blades, guess that should tell you the blades are spinning, it simply shows you don't know what the N8 is capable of my bro.. a phone that is been used for capturing professional movies is worth the money, . 701 will have shown a bit of the blades in motion if it was in daylight but the mechanism is very slow and LED is no good capturing a moving object. u can give it a shot on your own if you have anyone with N8 around you. am begging. I SWEAR, that is a working spinning fan that was captured by N8. PLEASE ANYONE READING THIS FORUM WITH AN N8 SHOULD CAPTURE A FAST MOVING OBJECT LIKE A FAN's BLADE AND POST IT HERE FOR PEOPLE TO SEE. i believe N8 users should know what their devices can do by now.. WAITING FOR YOUR OWN SCREENSHOTS PLEASE..

and let me make something clear about cameras bro, the Megapixel of a shutter doesnt make its image production the best, just that more details will be included. an 8mp cam could produce a perfect picture quality than a 14mp cam on a photo paper and digital viewing, you only get bigger and more distant image with that of 14mp. you should be considering a goof focal length mechanism with autofocus and a perfect flash and not the megapixel that was produced. 808 has 41mp which could capture a whole garden at the widest focal point but the production is what matters. U can always trust Nokia with good camera mehanism shutters that will even beat that of a real camera. STILL WAITING FOR N8's SNAPSHOTS BELOW, PLEASEEEE

i never cheated., Thats is the power of srtrong mechanism shutter lens plus a Xenon flash. why do u think Nokia called N8 camera a monster?? the FAN was On, Rolling and even turning around. any N8 user on the Forum should please do the same and upload it here to testify please.

Below are the snapshots from an N8 and 701 running symbian Belle OS. Here is a picture of a fully working standing fan with the blades rolling at maximum and taken in the night (11pm precisely). Here the N8 Lens mechanism could perfectly get a fast rolling fan blades with its Xenon flash, while 701 couldnt detect any. ( Damn a slow shutter lens with A fixed focus and LED flash). i zoomed both lenses though cos i wanna clearly see how far the length of a xenon flash and LED flash is, the flash on 701 is almost not visible at all below. Now thats one reason why an N8 is worth the money. RAM & Processor upgrade aint everythin bro. i took both reducing the camera pixel to 3MP so u wont say i cheated 701 with a 12mp to 8mp range. i also resized the pictures so i could upload them here.

My conclusion..Sincerely i love both phones, I love 701's boost in speed ( not really noticeable much for some people though) and RAM, i love its modern looks/appearance plus the new NFC feature and do u know u can use 701's LED flash as Touch by holding down the screen lock slide?? Love that as well. But i definitely can�t do without N8 with its Carl Zeiss Cam with Xenon flash, that saves me the time of carrying Physical cameras around, The 3mm AV that has completely replaced my room's DVD player, the strong FM transmission serves as my only music player in the car now., i can manage its small RAM and processor speed cos it ain�t that bad sincerely, still does everything i need exactly the way i wanted. so in my everyday activities, N8 is still works for me better than my new device. but at least I own anoda nokia now. Thanks to u though


Our everyday needs varies, as for me, i do go for devices that aids my daily stuffs and not the current or latest ones in vogue. It is just a matter of your own satisfaction.

Also I suspected a foulplay from the seller, was any other cable included in your sales package apart from charger and usb? I only got that and he claimed it was all he got when he bought it newly..

Oh My God. Am very sorry for the mistake man, thought i modified that part of the post the second day i posted it, U know sometimes when a device aint yours, u dont get to study some stuffs about it so well apart from the ones you really planned on experimenting on, It is the charging port that is placed on the left side and the 3mm jack on top at the center, next to the USB port . I bought the 701 now though (he eventually sold it to get an xperia), so i v got both the N8 and 701.(was hoping to get the old N900 or wait for 808 ).. Maybe i should take time in comparing both to my own taste now.. at least for the benefit of those still confused choosing both devices.
Now that i hav the 2 bad machines, i took the time in formarting both so i wont make any of them feel jealous . both took the same formating time before finally booting back to normal. now, Am so used to the n8 so i just inserted the sim and memory card back at the right side of the phone and thats it. i found something funny about 701's sim and memory card slot, how can Nokia decide to put the MicroSD slot under, Covered by the battery and leave the SIM slot above Common, thats no brainer, (it should have been the other way round) what about Hot swapping?? sometimes u quickly wanna remove the Mem-card without having to switch off and reboot.. i do alot of interchanging of MicroSD and its really gonna be annoying having to switch off and killing all my opened programs before doing that, especially when my 701 has only about 7.6GB useable internal memory. i think N8 wins in that area.
I transfered my files back into the phone, normarlly i used to keep about 14GB file on the mass memory of my N8 (apart from the ones on the MicroSD), but i had to cut the list down when copying to 701 and i didnt like the fact that i couldnt copy my movies to my 701, my music files already took 7.2GB, . so i guess 8GB is a way too small for keeping music, movies, taking snapshot and recording HD videos at the same time.
701's NFC was very nice and sending files was cool, by just switchin it on in connectivity and touching another phone with an NFC and the bluetooth of both phones switches on and starst sending/receiving. that is definitely a plus for 701
Holding both phones indoors, the clearblack of 701 makes the TFT screen a pleasant one and the phone itself has a very bright display which is awesome for a TFT LED, but contrast level is very low (even at maximum) which spoils all, i still cant do without the superb quality of the Strong Amoled Display of the N8, makes my movies and pictures awesome
CAMERA.. i know the N8 wins here but before u eat me raw, i v got something to say about 701's cam too.. in bright sunny day, 701 takes a very good landscape outdoor pictures which is almost very close to what N8 does (if u know how to handle a camera), though the difference is clear doing the same spot snap with N8.. Also the mechanism in 701 + its LED flash isnt impressive in any way, i took a picture of a fast rolling object with both device wich i ll upload after this post.
The N8 was louder with music playback in loudspeaker. i really dont use this much often (i use the earpiece instead) except when am doing laundries or bored with earpiece so i wont consider this as a big deal, at least for me
PROCESSING AND SPEED. without doubt, i found 701having more speed boost during game loading and using Nokia phone browser, though am not a fan of NokiaBrowser due to its Heavy data usage.. However, map navigation, Opera 12, Opmini7 and other basic apps seems to run pretty thesame, though i know 701 gonna run more app at the same time with stability than N8 because of its Double Ram upgrade compared to that of N8 (256 to 512) so 701 wins here
Also i love using my fm transmitter and 3mm port as a Car Mp3 and home DVD player respectively. 701 isnt just doing it for me here. i don�t get good range of transmission with its FM transmitter. (this is the same problem i had with n97) i requires pushing the phone around the radio, and immediately u u move, the connection goes off again, whereas in N8, The person sitting at the back of the car could play with the phone and i still get good range of music transmission with the car radio. I just dont wanna talk about 701's 3mm AV connection cos its annoying. even though i dont use my N8's HDMI, i still get a very good picture quality (exactly like that of a normal home DVD players) with its 3mm port with the TV.
LOOKS. 701 is so pleasant to the eye with its nice curved design at the edges. but the sides and the back really doesnt look so awesome like that of the N8, though n8's sharp curved edges is a NO NO for me. but sincerely speaking, n8 is not close to being called ugly except if u haven't seen it physically, also i love feeling the coldness of its body in the morning due to its non-plastic built.
THE PHYSICAL KEYS.. dunno why, but i just love the MENU only key on N8, makes it look more professional to me than that of the call/End?menu key on 701. also love the sexy volume and camera keys at N8's side too. but i love the fact that Voice command key is present at the side of 701, quite useful for me.
BATTERY LIFE.. i noticed 701 lasts longer when u dont do much with it, just playing music with the earpiece on , typing messages and scrolling through the menus. also it has 1300mAh which is quite better than 1200 of N8. but its processing speed and RAM doesnt require much power compared to that of 701

lol. this is the funniest thread i saw on NL today. u are comparing two different gadgets bro. just as other comment reads, u should consider what u needed more. but i do understand you quite well so i wanna pretend to be u, assuming i neva had both, then i will definitely go for a laptop. Aside from pinging (BB messenger) the device is no use cos BB operating system is crappy considering all its games and most of its app. Assuming I was out of cash and couldnt subscribe for a BB Bundle for the next month, dat aint gonna be so cool.. Well you should know all the benefits u get from owning a laptop of your own. No smartphone is complete without a personal computer of your own. Gbam.

Holumighty: Go for nokia 700 or E6. Nokia 700 is 44,500 while E6 is 48,500.

CAUTION ; E6 is a symbian 3 device with a smaller screen resolution, some apps and games for the OS (includin anna and belle update) doesnt work on e6. so beware and try ask more questions and do more research on the device u finally wanna go for. Cheers

Bright screen + faster processor - Nokia 701
Multimedia Creation + Best Of Camera snapshot- Nokia N8
Multimedia consumption + large screen - Nokia x7
If u do alot of typing and messaging, go for E7. Although, I wont really advice on it if u press ur phones alot like I do cos u gonna keep sliding a thousand times everyday and d flex that links the screen with the bottom wears out. U ll be better of with E6 if u dont mind a phone with smaller screen. (that is beta compared to its predecessor, E72) .. Any nokia u decide is gonna be cool in terms of quality no doubt but u gotta increase ur budget a bit, except u wanna stick with an e72

COngrats to u & ur cousin bro. there are mainly 2 ways to upgrade your device to belle but will only mention the Normal/Official way.
First is to get/download the lastest NOKIA SUITE software (version 3.3 or later) For your PC. he old ovi suite integrated on the disc that came with your phone wont work for BELLE update

Make sure u v got a fast and reliable internet connection to avoid Bricking your phone during update ( A "Bricked" is a device with corrupted/Damaged firmware that will never work, until u get it fixed in a Nokia Store or u flash it manually)

Install the Nokia Suite to ur pc and plug in your device with ur uSB cable (Your Phone should be in NOKIA OVI SUITE USB Mode. u can get that in SETTINGS-CONNECTIVITY-USB-NOKIA OVI SUITE [default])

Nokia suite should detect your phone from the PC, when that is done. Locate the SOFTWARE UPDATES icon at the PC Suite Top ( Below the Top-Most Menu Bar) and click on it, after some seconds, Nokia suite display the software update for your phone. click on it, your download should start, relax and make sure that the connected device and the cable is not being touched ( A slight disconnection of either your USB CABLE or the network during upgrade will lead to bricking your device)
Nokia belle update is is about 156mb ( Can be more or less depending on your device model and your product code)
yOUR UPDATE should be completed after the download has been successful and ur phone restarts. And thats it, welcome to a brand new feel of Symbian Operating system

As a precaution, Make sure u backup your data and files before performing an update. also it is a nice idea to soft Reset/ format the phone with *#7370# before Belle update to prevent errors in updates, constant restarting as well as lagging/Slow performance after update.
Some product codes of symbian3 devices (that hasn't yet been updated to Anna) still shows Anna update before a proper upgrade to belle. dial *#0000# after update to see the new OS u are running after update, if it happens to be on Symbian Anna instead of belle, the u ll have to do the same procedure again from step 1, The Nokia suite should show another update!

U can get good applications from nokian8fanclub.com, symbianzone.us and Nokia Store (store.ovi.com) Also get good themes at symbianthemes.us
