TonyeBarcanista: This is another BIG lie! The major earning of the Eastern region was PALM OIL. The Palm oil was majorly from the Niger Delta. PH was in existence looooong before the British 'forcefully' lumped us together with the Igbos in Eastern region in 1951. In fact, natives in Rivers were pushed to background while the Igbos coveted our lands in PH.... This was the main reason FG handed over the properties (and land) to the indigenes during Gowon era. Was it not Azikiwe that chased away Ita after he was defeated by the AG in Western region which made Ita to float a new party?
Most importantly, non of our agitations were met under eastern region... Thank GOD we got our own state courtesy Awo and Gowon... I can't forget the contributions of Obi Wali(Ikwerre), Saro Wiwa(Ogoni), Claude Ake (Omoku) and Isaac Boro (Ijaw) to see the Rivers state come to light. Thanks for saying the truth, jare... It is causing pain to some people, that is why they are throwing tantrums and flinging expletives all over this thread, in their bid to rewrite history. I really wonder why??! |

That's why I said his option was not realistic
option 1 is what is causing issues for guys who come here to marry naija ladies who then become harridans due to the laws means
option 4 is also not the best really... nothing like a companion to bond with (not physically)
Its really tough nd its not the best for the kids
Cristiano Ronaldo got his kid via surrogate, dated and dumped his long term girlfriend, is dating another one now
No mother for the kid
If this method becomes more low cost and affordable for the middle class, normal people, then we are in trouble
Not the best for the kids This method will just end up breeding a dysfunctional society full of dysfunctional kids, who do not grow up with the right values and do not know what it means to grow up in a secure family unit. Can you imagine the implication for the future?? |

Ewuro4: Nothing's amiss. She's just naturally wicked and determined to use the system to her advantage. We have tons of them living like a queen for free here. I stare in their eyes and search for that rigid evil but to luck. They leave these responsible men jobless because the cs is just outrageous, they too rather stay on welfare and useless to their family at home. Some of them voluntarily leave for Nigeria and never come back. It's a terrible ordeal
My eyes have seen a lot, lot.
I'm almost certain the lady in OP is a foreigner hence all the parents drama , but that doesn't leave other immigrants out too, anybody can milk the system by using kids to get rich quick. That's why Nigerian Men kill their rebellious imported wives, they rather go to jail than live in misery. These foreign women are enjoying this kind of rubbish practice, because they are in America. In Nigeria, which woman would try this kind of nonsense?? Do you know how many women lose access to their kids in Naija, simply because they walked out of a marriage? This is not the norm, but it still happens in a lot of communities especially in the North. In Nigeria, the man would simply have married another woman and had more kids, after ignoring the first wife. There are also cases of divorced or separated women, who have to beg the family of their ex-husbands to talk to their son, to make him handle the responsibility for the upkeep of their kids. There are two families presently going through this issue, on the street where I live in Lagos. |

Wallade: What is the reason she wants to keep her father's name in marriage? If the reason is understandable or justifiable to the husband, then the husband should reconsider his position but if her reasons can't be explained, understood, justified and validated by her husband, she can't have her way on that.
Ordinarily, that should be final; period but today's ladies.....
We should read and digest the principles, origin and design of marriage as invented by God in the Bible or Quran. This can help our understanding of marriage, especially recommended for today's women, opinionated wives and unsubmissive wives. " Guy, she can call herself any name she likes. At the end of the day, only 6 things matter: 1). There is a valid and subsisting marital union between us, as proven by the evidence of the marriage certificate; 2). She shares my bed, takes care of the home and is the mother of my kids; 3). We support each other's dreams, aspirations and endeavours because we are partners for life in this union; 4). She respects me privately and publicly, and does all she can to be the best help meet for me; 5). She sees my family as her own, and showers them with love, respect and care; 6). She protects my name and honour, by comporting herself in a respectable, dignified way etc; Abeg, if she does all the above and more, she can call herself any name she chooses, as long as she does NOT deny that she is my wife! End of story.." Well, a wise man shared this thought with me. And he has been married for 35 happy years! |

Mckennedy: Thanks for taking out time to read the article, so what can you tell us about this particular paragraph of the article:
I WAS INVOLVED AS APARTISAN POLITICIAN
I am hesitating to write about the story of the creation of Midwest or Edo State, for another reason. I was an active partisan politician at the University of Ibadan opposed to both the NCNC and the AG, the two popular political parties in the two provinces of Benin and Delta. I was also a political science student at the University of Ibadan with a knack for the drama in the Western Region and its impact on the politics of 1964 Federal Elections.
It is simplistic to label the NCNC as pro-Midwestern Region from the abundance of the goodwill of the Igbo or their leader, Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe. It is also simplistic to label the AG as against the new Region from the wickedness of the Yoruba and their leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Maybe we should ask few questions:
What was so special about Midwest that was absent in the Calabar-Ogoja-River State?
Why should the NCNC support the creation of a Region in the West and not in the East and in the North?
How many of us appreciate the strategic decision of the NPC to go southwards in 1962 during the intra-party crisis in Action Group in the Western Region?
How many of us appreciate the impact of the monumental crisis in Yoruba land in 1962 on the creation of the new Region?
How many of us appreciate the bond between Chief FS Okotie-Eboh and Alhaji Muhammadu Ribadu?
How many of us appreciate that this bond more critical than what the NCNC appreciated to the creation of the Region?
How many of us knew of the relationship between Apostle John Edokpolor and the Sardauna of Sokoto?
How many of us knew how that impacted on the creation of the Midwestern Region?
How many of us knew why Apostle John Edokpolor was made one of the Commissioners during the Interim Administration of the new Region? The guy was sharing his experiences as a political science student at the University of Ibadan who actively participated in the politics of that era, under the auspices of the NPC. He also shared his views on the factors that led to the emergence of the old Mid-West Region, those who made it happen, and the relationships between the major political figures at that time (even though such figures were from different ethnic groups and parties). His questions provoke the readers to think deeply about certain issues, and debunks certain simplistic views. (e.g. the support for the creation of the old Midwestern Region by the NCNC, and the reluctance of the AG to support the emergence of that region). He urges readers to look beyond the feelings of the leaders of both parties. So what other info are you still looking for?? |

Acting Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, at a Roundtable on Subsidy Removal Debate Organised by Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja yesterday, stated that the proposal to remove fuel subsidy was consistent with the recommendations contained in NEITI’s independent audit reports conducted in the last six years.
Orji said: “Removal of subsidy will free over N700 billion annually which can be channeled to provision of infrastructure like roads, education, health service, power, security, creation of jobs and basic benefits for the poor in the society.

NPC STRATEGIC DECISION IGNORED SO FAR IN THE EQUATION
Some of the issues in the NPC strategic decision were mentioned to the Members of the Constituent Assembly by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau when he was soliciting for the support of the Bendel Delegation in the Assembly during the debate on Sharia.
Of course, to many northern members of the Constituent Assembly, it was an irony that the person who moved the motion for the deletion of Sharia from the Draft Constitution was a Bendelite, Dr. Mudiaga Odje.
I am sure that these issues were new to the Members of the Constituent Assembly. My colleagues in the Constituent Assembly were amazed when Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau reminded us of the role of the NPC in the creation of the Midwestern Region. For instance, Chief Enahoro opposed the creation of old Mid-West region because he did not want to be a big fish in a small pond, but later turned round to actively support the creation of old Bendel State! |

TouchstoneNgr: Negative Characteristics of Granite Cost-granite is expensive because of labor for its removal from the quarry, the work involved in cutting it and then installation. It does not have a uniform pattern or color and contains natural cracks or pits. These "imperfections" are actually, what lends to its beauty and "movement" but if one likes things completely uniform, then this may not be the best choice. It cannot be used as a cutting board because it will dull your knives. Granite countertops should be installed by a qualified professional-it is not a do it yourself project! Granite countertops need to have the sealant re-applied a least once every two years to prevent staining or fading. Seams are visible, regardless of how good the installer is. Ideally, an installer will endeavor to have seams in areas where they least likely to be noticed.
However Granite is a beautiful choice in countertop covering. It can make a drab or basic space look elegant and rich. When granite colour has faded, what can be done to restore the colour?? and finally, do you have stainless steel shelves for sale? |
