parrotibaba:The way he took the ball towards Skrtel shows the confidence he has. |
Martiallllllllllllllllllll |
AdeLaNa1:This is exactly what i said that DDG would`ve saved that ball on that day. |
sinizia:This man is turning us into shit with his cautious possession philosophy. To even think Fellaini is our striker means that LVG has totally lost it. |
dopeJemi:He should be benched to see how it is done in the EPL by watching Young during the 3 games. |
This is exactly what we all have been saying here when this man sold all the experienced strikers we had. Let`s see who he will convert because that`s what has always been in his mind all along. |
Mendes has arrived Carrington to hold talks with Man Utd over De gea`s new contract. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3229396/David-Gea-s-agent-Jorge-Mendes-arrives-Carrington-Manchester-United-talks.html |
Perez have said that he`s not coming for De gea in January and that they`ve not told him not to sign a new deal. He also said that they have three very good goalkeepers. This simply means they are not really keen about signing De gea in the first instance. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-david-de-gea-10028996 |
This is what some of us have been saying here about LVG not allowing players to express themselves and turning them into robots. Senior players are already rebelling against his training methods. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3228934/Manchester-United-players-rebel-against-Louis-van-Gaal-senior-stars-complain-manager-s-regimented-regime.html |
elampiro:What i have said is that he has majorly played as a striker in two striker formation which will always give him an opportunity to score goals. That's also why i said that the all the goals he has scored in this qualifying has been as a striker. |
elampiro:The bolded is exactly what i am saying. Rooney isn't a classic number 10 or a midfielder but a striker and he's playing that position because of his link up play and striking instinct. He'll always have a fair share of goals as a striker in that position. It is always a tactical advantage to the team because they will be playing as two strikers whether one is ahead or on level in tactics formation(442/4411) which has always been peculiar to England national team. This is unlike the classic number 10 (trequartista) who will always operate majorly from the midfield position, will be mobile and able to drift to the flanks and help his winger create overloads. |
elampiro:I am not disputing the fact that Rooney had injuries that prevented him from performing at major tournaments. Owen also had injury problems that prevented him from performing at major tournaments as well. Owen had injury problem that limited his participation during the qualifying stage for Euro 2002 and this also affected his performance during the tournament. He also broke his metatarsal bone in Dec 2005 that kept him out for six months undergoing about three surgeries in the process. He rushed himself back to compete in 2006 world cup. He damaged anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in one of the group stage matches that kept him out from active football till April 2007 (almost a year). That is about a year and a half injury crisis which derailed his playing career. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/5015634/Michael-Owen-regrets-making-comeback-at-2006-World-Cup-finals.html As for using two strikers, I don't think you watched England. In Euro 2012 Carol was the most advanced striker with Welbeck as a support. I also remember Defoe played more advanced than Rooney in the past. Although in 2010 world cup, Rooney was used as a real co-striker by Capello, instead of the usual support striker. It's always two strikers with fluidity. One can be advanced at a point while at another time the other may be advanced. They play with fluidity depending on who is where at the time they were to score. Are you telling me that if they launch a counter and Welbeck was the first to get to a position of scoring, he will have to wait for Carol to get there to pass the ball to him score? They always have equal opportunity to score. What of the time when Owen and Shearer were strike partner and later when it was Owen - Crouch? |
elampiro:What i am saying is that mostly he has always been one of the front two since he has been playing for England. Yes, he has also been played in other positions but not really as much as you have said it because England have always had better players that can play in the attacking midfield positions Yes, Rooney deserves praise for winning and converting penalties. Against Switzerland he went past two men in the box before the third hacked him down. Then he scored.I am not saying that he doesn't deserve the praises for the achievement of reaching that goal mark. What i don't agree with is the way you said he played mostly in other positions than in the striking position. I believe Rooney has always been there in the striking position for England in over 95% of games he has played. The two strikers playing always have equal opportunities to score goals and the injury problem is not peculiar to him alone. |
elampiro:The way i understand the system they are playing is that there is no particular lead striker when they play with front two. The two front men in 442 diamond formation have equal opportunity and they work for each other. They also play 433 formation where Rooney is the main striker in the front three. |
elampiro:He has scored those goals as a striker |
elampiro:Rooney has played mostly as a co-striker with those strikers you listed. Yes , he may have been played in some instances on the wings but he played mostly as a striker in the team. As for penalties, they have to be converted. Lampard is praised for converting 9, Rooney has only converted 5/5.Praised for converting penalties? He knows that there will always be consequences for losing penalties so he just have to make sure he converts them. Otherwise, the the responsibility will be taken off him. Are you also telling me that Owen won only one penalty in his playing career as a striker? If no. Who took the penalties he won and that others won during that period? At least he played from 1998 to 2008. If he was also given the penalty responsibility, he too would have scored more goals. |
elampiro:That is not a small gap. So you want to tell me that Rooney never played as a Striker in the national team. Also, Rooney has a higher number of penalty opportunities than Owen. |
elampiro:Yeah, Owen was a striker but looking at the appearances will not tell you the true picture. If you look at their time, you will see that Owen had more goals ration as a striker than Rooney. Rooney - 8030 - 49 goals Owen - 5962 - 40 goals Diff. - 2068 divided by 90 = 22.98 games You can now see that Rooney played more than 22 games in the National team than Owen |
elampiro:The number of appearances doesn't put your "surprise" in proper perspective. You need to check the time. Owen is far ahead of Rooney and he has better goals ratio than Rooney. |

Anthony Martial`s deal "According to RMC Sport, #mufc will pay £22m up front to AS Monaco for Martial then £3.5m per year for 4 years. So that's the price... £36 million! Add ons are for things like winning the Ballon D'Or etc. Add ons (€20m): €5m every time PL top scorer €5m Golden boot €10m Ballon D'or" These are the people that broke the deal and @mohamedbouhafsi is the most reliable person when it comes to French football |
"Manchester United made an attempt
to get Marco Reus from Borussia
Dortmund when negotiating Adnan
Januzaj's loan to the Bundesliga
side but were put off by the player's
£60 million valuation, club sources
have told ESPN FC.
United manager Louis van Gaal had
been insistent on adding another
forward player before Tuesday's
deadline, on top of Monaco's Anthony
Martial, and the Premier League side
broached the idea of bringing in Reus
when letting Januzaj go.
Dortmund were not totally resistant
to the sale, and quoted United a price
of £60m to begin discussions, but the
Old Trafford club were only willing to
go as far as £50m." |
Real Madrid`s appeal to FIFA isn`t going to be successful. This is what FIFA software said. "FIFA software chief Mark Goddard insists Real Madrid have no wriggle room in their attempts to close a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. Real sources insist the deal should've been rubberstamped at 23:59 last night, blaming incompatible files and exchange rate problems for the delays. However, Goddard, who oversees FIFA's transfer system software, told Sport: "There are no excuses. It is the problem of the clubs. "There is no room for administrative error. "If you do not have all the information to complete before the transfer deadline it is your problem. I'm sorry. It's like that." Real hope to appeal to UEFA today to complete the signing of De Gea." |
SIRcumalot:That is part of the reasons why i said he could be persuaded. Euros is on his mind and he`ll need to be playing regularly to make it there. This man could come up with an escuse like the "he`s not focused" that made him to leave him out of the first team. He may need to sign a new contract to maintain his place in the team. Anything can happen. Who knows? |
dopeJemi:It is going to be status quo Navas will have to stay in Madrid. I read Utd sent De Gea`s document a minute after 12. This could be an oppotunity to persuade De Gea to sign a new contract. |
Read that Rojo could leave Utd tomorrow because he had a bust-up with LVG. What`s happening? |
"According to De Gea camp, when Utd offered a new deal to him in spring 2014, LVG stopped it as he preferred Navas" - Guillam Balague. This man is totally clueless. He caused this. Preferred Navas to De Gea. |
dopeJemi:I also believe it is. That should be about £37mil since it`s £29m plus navas (£8m). |
parrotibaba:It is only time that will justify whether the price is worth it considering that he is a young prospect. We need to put his stats on goal in the proper perspective to really know if he`s developing or not. Interestingly, I found out that out of that 11 goals, he scored 8 goals in his last 12 games of last season in Lique 1. This shows that he`s improving as a young prospect. Like i said earlier, that price is ridiculous for his age but if he performs and continously improves then that price will looj like a steal in 3 to 4 years to come. |
AdeLaNa1:There is no buy option in the loan deal. |
I think De Gea deal is becoming real. Read that the deal is 25mil pounds plus Navas. Also read that Deschamps confirmed that he would allow Lloris to leave the French squad to move to Manchester United if it materialised. Tranfer window has closed in Germany but Chicharito deal not yet confirmed. |
