chamber2: I still wonder why some people keep supporting this dead man called Buhari. When the entire world is canvassing for a new generation of leaders with digital minds, some people are here dragging us back to the 80s. As former president Julius Kambarage Nyerere of Tanzania would put it,''as others plan to reach the moon we plan to reach our village.''Buhari is not fit to be Nigerian president no matter the yardstick you use in measuring it. Nigerians should vehemently resist any of these military-civilian politicians who have lost their sense of usefulness. Why would someone cancel a laudable project like this if i may ask? He seems not to know the underlying benefits anyways.
Anybody supporting Buhari does not mean well for the Nigerian youths. The money Buhari spends on election campaigns could have been used to set up industries to employ our unemployed youths. At his level i least expected him to start dragging political positions with the likes of Ribadu etc. It's only in a country where the elites see political positions as the only means of survival that the likes of Buhari would still want to cling to power. LMAO! Where exactly are the 'new generation of leaders with digital minds' in this election? Is it Ribadu or GEJ who are exactly as old fashioned as their peers in the race? If you can show any cogent example of GEJ being a leader with 'digital mind' I will agree with you. Please do no mention Facebook here as an example. This is not about doing something just for doing sake. People MUST focus on the outcomes of their action. Voting in a younger fellow who will not deliver is far worse than voting in an older guy who can deliver the goods. At the end of the day, I'd much rather beat my chest and tell my daughter i voted in someone who made a difference than tell her in 2011 I voted a man just because he is in his '50s. |

Rossikk: Soyinka supports Ribadu because Ribadu is in ACN, a 'Yoruba' party.
Soyinka has ALWAYS supported parties representing HIS ethnic group. He has NEVER supported any national party - ever.
He needs to explain how Ribadu, a man who cannot even coherently explain his development strategy for the country, should be made president. ''Fighting corruption'' alone WILL NOT lead to Nigerian development in the absence of solid, well-thought out development programmes. You are the biggest HYPOCRITE i've ever seen on Nairaland. You go around opening paranoia infused topics exhorting Nigerians and Africans to rise up against 'imperialism', 'puppetmasters' and other evils. You go around insisting that Nigerians must gather strength to resist their planned 'subjugation'. Imagine my surprise then to see you become a willing mouthpiece for the PDP, the political entity that has kept Nigeria comatose for the past decade. It appears your grandiose speeches dissipate once you get a whiff of newly minted Naira notes. Pathetic. |

Pro Anti: I watched the interview yesterday and Prof Soyinka stated categorically that he supports Ribadu.
He expressed his disappointed with the PDP led government and feels PDP has nothing new to offer Nigeria.
He also pointed out that every nation in the world has corrupt people. The problem with the Nigerian case is that the elite places corruption over and above productivity.
My understanding of this statement is that no god or demi-god can absolutely fight corruption. What any sane government can do is to increase productivity while trying to reduce corruption.
Focusing on corruption would lead us no where. Reducing corruption will decrease wastage, improve efficiency, improve civillian welfare, improve infrastructure, transport, housing, power and commerce. Ergo, drastically reducing corruption will increase productivity. I cannot agree with your closing statement. |

sheyie2007: Nokia n900 users let's share our experiences about this awesome gadget, For me I think it's the best phone Nokia has in the market right now running on a linux based OS called maemo. The capabilities of this phone are endless. I mean, If you can crack WEP and WPA wlan keys, emulate sony playstation 1 games, take HDR photos on a mobile phone, then that's a gadget I believe every geeks wanna lay their hands on. So as a user, how has your life been since you paid for this gadget from the very first beginning? Any modern android phone (and even the iPhone 4) can do all these without being as thick as a brick outhouse. they have bigger, brighter and better screens. Plus, the apps available for Android and iOS phones absolutely slay the paltry selection on the N900. If you can afford it, there's no need to cling to this relic. |

4llerbuntu: @tex, u do realise that the reason why those carriers cant push updates quickly is ineptitude and greed.
they have issues with customizing the hell out of the os, crippling features and maintaining stability. so they work on it for long
they also do not want to put the newer os on fones so as to have a reason to sell new fones running the newer os as an attraction
the xoom/honeycomb matter was just a big fail on their part, na ipad2 gra gra worry dem, they wanted to try not to be left behind. that was a bad decision all the way You 'open source' geeks don't ever want to understand the need to make money off a product The manufacturers skin Android to offer some level of differentiation. For every one who says they won't buy an Android phone because it's running a stock ROM, there are 2 less savvy users who will buy a phone with the custom skin because it looks 'more pretty'. And you're right, they'd rather not update constantly so they can spur consumers to buy new devices. They need to make money afterall. Meanwhile, I hope the underwhelming sales of Motorola's hyped Atrix phone has shown you just how saturated the Android phone market is? This is most likely why Nokia didn't go with Android. |

I really do not give a hoot who rules Nigeria as long as he makes Nigeria a wealthy, prosperous and developed powerhouse. If it's a Northerner, Southerner or even a dog or goat, I don't care. I want a better Nigeria for my children, not a silly statistical analysis of which tribe is ruling at which particular time. All the people screeching about the North should remember we came out of an Obasajo presidency (8 years) just 4 years ago. In case you have forgotten, he's a Southern Christian.

If you have been to French Africa you will observe something the leaders are only stooges for France. SO the issue of Gbagbo did not start with the election its been long. That is why Quatrra who is a known rebel was sponsored by these people. They didnt care what happens to the people.
Let us wait and see what will happen What tenure? over 10 years ago the sitting president (Guei) announced his victory in the elections. Gbagbo himself claimed victory and led a popular revolt that ousted Guei from power. This is poetic justice now that the shoe is on the other foot. His tenure should have elapsed since 2005, the goat managed to secure two extensions to 2008, then managed to postpone the elections to 2010. Isn't the fellow tired of power?! |

naijaking1: @poster Excellent article! This article confirms what we've known all along, Buhari in 2011 is no different from Buhari 1983: a criminally minded, religiously bigotted, but arrongant personality who would claim to be fighting corruption while at the same time promoting corruption among his freinds and followers. A leopard, they say never losses its spots.
Instead of GEJ opponents to focus and answer these pressing character issues of Buhari, they would rather open up threads about Ms GEJ's "umbrella" Erm, the article doesn't go as far as painting Buhari as 'criminally minded'. That is your own invention. It also doesn't say that he actively 'promotes corruption' among his followers. You made that part up too. it is a pity Buhari cannot be like GEJ who surrounds himself with noble, honest and blameless individuals like Bode George, Uduaghan, Anenih, Alao Akala and many others. It is a pity Buhari cannot seek out a good mentor for himself, unlike GEJ that confessed that the notoriously honest IBB is 'his father'. One must not forget how GEJ was a 'loyal deputy' to Alams of Bayelsa State, a man of exemplary honesty indeed! Perhaps they both had long and fruitful discussions on how best to save the Bayelsa state money. One must also remember how GEJ's closeness to OBJ underlines his anti-corruption credentials! Oh! If only Buhari was like GEJ! If only his anti-corruption record could be more like GEJ's! |

This desperate attempt to tarnish Buhari with the stain of corruption will fail. Unlike GEJ, Buhari is not seen frequently palling around with crooks like Anenih.
Someone is asking us to reject Buhari because someone in his party is crooked, even when he has been vocal in his opposition to that fellow. Is this anywhere near as odious as a candidate going over to Oyo state and praising the corrupt Governor of the state, or the same candidate making a much reviled Governor of Ogun State his South West campaign co-ordinator? |

mrjingles: ^^ am sorry but what has bluelabs being "dubious and not delivering on projects" got do with whether their IP rights have been infringed upon? They are owing you money and the case is in court, what relevance does it have to the issue on ground. Merely having a case in court does not have ANY bearing on this matter.
Protection of IP rights is a very important part of creating a progressive and innovative economy so am surprised this has been reduced to a political issue. Bluelabs is using a powerful weapon to pressure CPC/BUhari to discuss compensation- potential political embarrassment. They are using every leverage available to them. whether it is ethical or moral is a different argument but it surely isnt illegal. Yeah right. Eldee's image and name was used to promote Goodluck Jonathan. In his well written article, Eldee made it clear that his name and image were being used in Adverts for GEJ without his permission by elements of the Goodluck presidential campaign team.Eldee NEVER accused GEJ directly of lies and misinformation. These clowns at BlueLabs are accusing Buhari himself of THEFT. Not his campaign team, not any random BB fan. The candidate himself. This IS libelous. BluStreak: Like in all my politically related posts, I have always made it clear that I am neither for GEJ nor Buhari. That said, it is appalling when folks try to muscle out opponents with their might. The truth is the BB team have a case to answer & BB supporters should come to terms with that. A reminder; when a team performs poorly in a contest, it is the coach that take all the blame. Same here for Buhari & Bakare. They might not have been directly involved but it is a team they lead directly or indirectly. Some BB loyalist argue from one side of their mouth when I am dead sure they know the truth. How can a sane and internet-age savvy individual want to discredit BlueLabs course for justice just because the site for pursuing such course was recently registered? Did you expect buharistoleouridea.com to be in existence before this course? On what grounds and for what reason? That arguement is a inconsequential. The BB team did like some Nigerian pastors will do, they pulled sections of the Youtube TAC/TOS that suits their 'in-denial', they should read further. On why pursue this course on the web and not the court? Pls folks give me a break; the web today is a formidable platform were great battles have been started and won. The recent revolution sweeping across the ME is one. And dont be quick to forget about the Sony PS3 advert and Nigeria, it generated a lot of e-media reactions. That said, why do we all as a people attach sentiments to every issue? This just cause for a redress on IP infringement have been given a political face claiming it to be opposition instigated. Why Nigeria why? The truth here remains that the BB team has a case to answer. If they don't, why did they pull the materials from their sites?
My conclusion: 1. BB team and CPC has a case to answer 2. BB loyalist are just beating about the bush & not facing the reality of this matter. 3. Playing a blame game on political opponents is ludicrous. 4. BlueLabs have the right to launch a new website to pursue their course. 'Case to answer'? The CPC campaign has pulled all the copies of the song from their websites, facebook page e.t.c in reaction to Bluelabs complaint. That in itself shows an admirable penchant for doing the right thing. Bluelabs can push forward a claim for compensation and they can enter discussions with the BB campaign group to work out modalities. That is their prerogative, I agree. What they should never have done is to open a website while discussions are still ongoing, with such a libelous title. Their website should have been all about CPC and possible rights infringement. Instead they are publically calling a Buhari himself a thief! Let them go to court. Buhari himself will likely sue them for libel. |

You don't have to respond right now, you can wait for the ogogoro to wear off a little bit so that your head will clear when your respond In case you were too lazy to read properly, I was replying a question on a public forum. Nice try, though. As for the topic under discussion, i've said all I need to say about them before. It's open knowledge here on Nairaland that i have little love for them. In 2008 i called Saharareporters a 'pack of lying swine' In 2009 I castigated them for 'Irresponsible journalism' In 2010 I was pushed to the brink of fury over their childish and immature April Fool's stunt (Pope resigning over sexual abuse scandal) in december last year, I had this to say about SR (their story about GEJ's 'rigging manual') texazzpete: I won't be surprised if the document being discussed was not doctored by agents of SaharaReporters sef.
Naturally, they had to figure out a way to include Reuben Abati in the post. I guess mud-smearing is not limited to politicians.
it's about time Nigerians forced these SR people to provide concrete sources instead of using blanket words like 'a highly placed source' or 'our mole in the Government'.
Nobody will commit any plan to rig elections on paper. I have long considered those guys to be clowns. Once in a while they provide important news items but any value is eroded by the sheer foolishness they often display. I am somewhat delighted that they've come out with this to shoot themselves in the foot. At least now Nigerians can learn to pass their news through more careful scrutiny in the future. |

Pharoh: The problems of Nigeria goes beyond PDP and i wonder why you guys are not complaining of the problems caused by military rule or since the sixties?.
Our problem is not caused by a party and neither can it be solved by a party so Nigerians must come together to fix their country. Which is why is said 'Past 12 years'. The PDP has had 12 years to turn this country around and wipe away all the sorrows of the past. They happily compounded those sorrows. They must bear the bulk of the blame. |
