Parnassuss: Oh well, Joagbaje has cleared this issue to a semi-satisfactory level. The main auditorium was not meant to take too many ppl. Whatever the case, everyone here will find a way to fault that logic, but let us remember that there is no church right now, IN THE WORLD, that is not without its controversies and self-serving doctrines. As long as we are mere humans and humans run the church, our humanity will try to 'prevail' against the Goodwwill of the lord. Yeah right. Why not a simple policy of 'first come, first served'? Then when the venue is at its maximum capacity, you politely turn people away. Is that too much for Christ Embassy to handle? By charging N1000, you ensure that the very poor cannot attend. The really poor people who Jesus Christ came to save, happily left outside while others forked over N1000. Anybody defending this has to be a mugu, and is most definitely not a Christian. This lack of charity has permeated the Pentecostal Church in Nigeria. no wonder the likes of Bakare, Chris Oyahkilome et al don't give a damn about the kids being tortured for alleged witchcraft in Akwa Ibom by some rogue PFN pastors. I'm pretty sure the Lazarus and the poor man proverb is not told in Christ Embassy |

marvix: I must state that Beaf has not changed. He is still the same guy of the Yaradua saga, if that was a high point for you guys for me it was a low point for him.
He took on the Yaradua issue in a very personal manner which I always stood against, at some point I told him that when Jonathan comes into govt that Nigerias problems will not end.
The problem with most of us on this forum is that we find it so easy to criticise our governments, anyone who manages to make it to a position of authority suddenly becomes a dunce just because we want the guy to wave magic wands.
It is not only on this forum it is actually a Nigerian problem, every govt that serves or lead us is terrible and bad and we want them out, those of us at home feel that we can run a nation better than those that are running it.
When Gowon ruled in the 60s and 70s Nigerians complained, Murtala tried but was assasinated, it was after his assasination that some recognised him as a national hero, Obasanjo as a military man was corrupt, but when we saw the democrats of the Shagari era we begged for the military to come back, Buhari tried to rearrange the country, tried so hard to save us from ourselves yet we shouted draconian rule, hounding the press, and all sorts of accusations until Babaginda came to make him a saint, when babginda came in Nigerians jubilated the exit of Buhari but could they imagine the disaster Babaginda could wreck in 8yrs at last we shouted Shonekan out only to replace him with Abacha, was the June 12 realised after giving shonekan no breathing space to work, with Abacha Babngida became a darling president, when Abacha died Nigerians celebrated as though the end of all our worries had come, nobody allowed Abdulsalam to work instead all the chants was democracy as though the word democracy had the magic solution to all our problems, we lost out on the politics and introduced Obasanjo again and Nigerians still are regretting his 8yr rule, while he was there we heard all sorts of financial scandal of a rogue he almost made Abacha a gentleman when assasinations and sacking of communities became the order of the day, when Obasanjo imposed Yaradua then the same people came out shouting as though the imposition of the gentleman Yaradua on Nigeria was the biggest calamity to ever hit this country, did we not almost collapse the country on yaradua when all workers went on strike because of all the last minute actions of obasanjo, nothing Yaradua ever did was right, he pledged to the rule of law, they wanted him to sack himself before they believed a man who declared his assets publicly and did nothing when Andy Uba was sacked by a court barely 3months into his presidency, he said 7point agenda all those who knew better said 1point agenda is the solution, the man said amnesty people said waste of resources the man sick they said he died he finally died now they wish he was here because he is better than Jonathan.
Beaf has come to realise that Nigerias woes will not end by the action of one man, but by the cooperation of everyone of us, have we ever stopped to ask ourselves why those leaders with good intention never last, take a look, Murtala Mohammed, Buhari, Yaradua and maybe Jonathan will join this list by May29 2011.
No matter what we all post here, I know confidently that we did not find ourselves in the mess we are in the last 2,3 or 4yrs, where we are today is a result of deliberate continuos wicked sabotage of 25yrs, those who have sabotaged the nation are in all critical sectors of our national life, such that even if Jesus was to rule without his supernatural powers they would frustrate his efforts.
Is Jonathan worse than IBB or Abacha, that it should be during his time that we now have bomb blasts everywhere, can anyone point to any site in Nigeria today where contractors have abandoned the projects started by the Yaradua/Jonathan administration, even the Lagos Abeokuta expressway Obj failed to complete because of his corrupt tendencies has been completed by the Yaradua/Jonathan administration, the Lagos-Benin road work is ongoing, the east west road is ongoing, contractors have not complained that they are been owed, when was the last time federal workers complained of having not been paid their salaries, is any importer of petroleum product complaining that he has not received his subsidy payments from the federal govt, has this administration increased the price of petroleum products since 2007.
My people even if Buhari becomes president by may 2011, he would have critics and the saboteurs in every sector of our economy will do anything to frustrate his plans, as a matter of fact they wont even wait for him to be president they will frustrate all his efforts at been a president, If Jonathan had not become a president by the turn of events the cabal that killed Abiola and replaced him with Obasanjo would never have allowed Jonathan near the presidential villa.
Jonathans presidency is the break of a new dawn we should not scuttle it ourselves, it is in the interest of the average Nigerian for Jonathan to remain president after May 2011. Don't be silly. If someone is not doing well, it's your right to air constructive criticism. Your argument is that we should celebrate mediocrity just because we do not know if even worse is to come later. And that's just sad. I detest the brainless school of thought that imagines that every critic is a 'saboteur' or 'hater'. |

Common sense. When you have a document and for some strange reason all the incriminating pages are of different font and tone from the rest of the document, even a WASSCE holder should know it is forged, and badly so. Amusing to see how you've suspended common sense in your dream of a Northern/muslim presidency. 9ijaMan: Firstly, I'll take that back ok. Apologies for calling you GEJ boy! Mind you I'm no Atiku fan in anyway, I'll only state facts the way they are. If there's any candidate I'd support, it sure will be Buhari.
Back to topic: Your comments above reek of a bigoted view of issues. How many of you here on NL made much noise about any particular religion when a lunatic drove his car into an airport attempting to collide into a plane on tha tarmac. In fact 9ja dailies never mention anything about his faith. However, if anything happens in the north, the first thing you hear that'll be reported will be about religious fanatism. While I will not claim there are no cases as such, the hype is often more than the reality.
The case of Jos is another issue, most news paper reports are always biased in favor of one side as against balanced reporting.
How many religious crises have you seen in the south west where you have the highest mixture of both religion? I agree to bury the hatchet, apologies if i got too offensive. I personally have no issue with Islam, i was only going the extra mile to show you that religious fundamentalism is a serious threat to Nigeria. However, i have always taken exception to fundamentalism in any religion. I have been among those bitterly upset about the torture and killing of kids in Akwa Ibom in the name of witchcraft by some Pentecostal pastors. In fact, if i had my way people like 'Bishop' Helen Ukpabio would be securely behind bars in kiriKiri. Also i am among those waiting impatiently for the Nigerian police to execute Rev. King I even feel that you people who are focused on the presidential elections alone are making a very TERRIBLE mistake. The dream outcome of this elections should be to weaken PDP in the legislative and perhaps whittle down their Governorship count. Only then can bills like the FOI be passed, only then can the legislators sit up and do something. The president alone will not achieve the change we all want. I may end up voting GEJ in the elections, if only for the hope that he can finally bring the development to the Niger DElta that they deserve. The under-development of that area is one of the great injustices of our time and if their man can't fix it, then we'll never listen to them again. |

Does the fbi have local knowledge more than our seccurity forces? Please urgently tell me how 'local knowledge' will help in identifying the explosives used, 'fingerprinting' the explosive residue and determine if the Jos, Abuja and Bayelsa bombings bear the same signature. I await your answer patiently. FBI experts were invited to help with the bomb situation. Kindly also show me your source for your assertion that the FBI has been given 'free hand in Nigeria'. Lagosboy: Nigeria has serious economic, development and tribal problems deeper than religious problems. Buddie what has muslim got to do with the postings above and what has nothern got to do with our discussion. Let us drop this tribal religious sentiments and tacke issue as it is. Boko Haram is religious. The riots in Kaduna, Kano etc were religious in origin. The growing radicalization of the Northern youth is religious. The letter from an African Al Qaeda branch is religious. The Christmas day bombing in Jos is possibly religious. The fulanis apprehended in Jos after slaughtering over 50 villagers were on a 'divine' mission. I beg to differ. Religious extremism is very important. Please answer the questions i posed earlier. Lagosboy: I would prefer Buhari as president of Nigeria but have you read the leaked election strategy of GEJ you would realise why Atiku keeps attacking him. That so-called leak was a shamelessly obvious clone. The only thing the document served was to show me that Saharareporters is being sponsored to attack GEJ. Anyone with University education that reads that PDF file and cannot see that it's a forgery should return his certificate ASAP. Lagosboy: WAs he wrong for stating the obvious fact that the level of insecurity under GEJ is at an unprecedented level in recent times. Nigeria as a country has never experienced terrorist bombings, terrorist bombiongs started in GEJ´s home state of Bayelsa last year, MEND attacked Abuja GEJ absolved MEND and tried to link IBB, kidnappings every here and there .
A president that says publicly that the nation should pray for terrorists to confess their action is not just a fool but a celeberated fool of unrivalled standing.
Everyday Dumb GEJ and his equally dumb wife continue to embarrass our beloved country of many intellectuals. Inviting the FBI to Nigeria is his biggest mistake as wikileaks have already shown the US level of spying in Nigeria, who except a dumb person would now invite the US 24 hrs after a bombing without first gathering your own evidence as a country. The FBI and CIA are not supermen and they still have bin laden at large. GEJ is about to mortgage Nigeria security to the US who are only after their own interest. Don't be silly. Bombings started even in Yar'Adua's tenure, and it has been shown that the bombings from MEND were from years of neglect of the Niger Delta region by successive regimes of Northerners. Up until now, none of you has been able to explain how seeking the help of FBI experts will compromise Nigeria's security. The Russian government had to seek british help to lift the sunken Kursk nuclear submarine, why is it now 'haram' for GEJ to ask for experts help? You people need to get off GEJ's nuts. If he uses the inferior Nigerian technical know-how, you criticize him for lack of progress. Now when he engages the help of the best in the business, you still criticize. What do you really want? Everyone spies on Nigeria, just as Nigeria should have her own intelligence services gathering data in foreign countries. You're here worrying about the FBI, CIA and Mossad while as we speak agents of Al Qaeda are creeping across our borders, inciting the youths, selling bin laden videos and preaching their hate-filled sermons in your mosques. Dude. Please decide if you're here to understand what really is going on in Ivory Coast, or if your sole motivation is to twist and bend all information you receive to fit your conviction that 'colonial involvement' is the root cause of the crisis in Ivory Coast. From what has been said before, Gbagbo saw no issues with the electoral process during the first round when he scored the highest number of votes. Same electoral body, same umpire, same UN observers. Gbawe: You are sure of that ? Do you know of his efforts relating to what you speak about? Have you thought that Bakare may just be more vocal on the issue of the Presidency because , like most of us , he is now 100% sure that the effort to turn around Nigeria will be a fruitless one if not led by a great President ? Yep. I'm sure of this. It isn't really Bakare alone, practically all the big guns in the PFN turned a blind eye to this. We can leave this topic if you like Gbawe: Ribadu is a 100 times better than GEJ and there are others who are extremely competent also. The noise about "who is better" is defeatist and unambitious. It a lazy cop-out to explain how some folks have settled on , by his own admission, a "lucky" administrator who is not the best for the job. With some folks, the outrightly bigoted fear or dislike of Northern candidate makes them ready to accept stark mediocrity in the form of GEJ. I did not ask "who is better", neither did i say there are no alternatives to Jonathan. I asked for the alternatives. I don't agree with your 'defeatist' and 'unambitious' statement. it's a democracy and you need to actually CHOOSE who your vote goes to. There's perfect sense in weighing what the alternatives bring to the table before casting your vote. I have little love for Nuhu Ribadu, a man who i consider to have aided and abetted corruption in his time in office. Dishonourably lying about a fake assassination attempt as a means to flee Nigeria does not rank high in my list. Not to mention his hypocrisy on Bode George (Gave the man a clean bill of health in 2006, began crowing in 2009 that he began the process to bring Bode George to justice), his refusal to prosecute hardened thieves in OBJ's in caucus (Anenih, Iyabo Obasanjo, Bode George, Mr. Uba etc). I also do not feel he brings enough experience to the table. I need not say anything on Atiku. Gbawe: IMO, Jonathan is the cause of the condemnable bombings we are seeing. I personally believe it is those opposed to his ambition who are doing this. That said , I blame Jonathan squarely. He would have my enormous respect if he left the PDP to pursue his ambition next year in respect of his Party's zoning formula. Everyday, his PDP buddies extort, frustrate and humiliate him because they know that his ambition is idieologically unpopular in the Party. Jonathan , egged on by treacherous men like OBJ and Anenih, deliberately and unpatriotically ignored the notion that there may be serious chaos if he forged ahead. Do you know the number of politicians who have testified that Jonathan assented to zoning on many occasion in their presence? Do you know the number who have said Jonathan is not honourable? Has it not occured to you , even if I don't endorse it, that this may be an effort by "do-or-die" and "operation totality" politicians to put the "ungentlemanly" and "dishonourable" GEJ in his place?
I have said it many times on Nairaland that GEJ will have it tough "usurping" power from the most clannish region in Nigeria. OBJ had his turn on behalf of the SW region and he now wants to use GEJ to truncate what he had benefited from. Come on dude , there is likely to be serious bad blood !!! We would not be seeing these bombings if GEJ had not listened to extremely selfish advice from those who are treachery personified. If I were in GEJ's shoes I would never have acted so selfishly and , in effect, I would not be putting Nigerians in danger uneccessarily with a selfish act instigated by a lack of belief in my own ability to stand on my own two feet and fight like a gladiator . I cannot agree with your logic. Jonathan is free to contest for whatever office he aspires to. If any terrorist or criminal elements decides to truncate his ambition using terrorist acts, the blame must be placed squarely at the feet of the miscreants. When Goodluck took the decision to contest, there were no bombing envisaged. In fact, we can only blame MEND for introducing bombings to the rest of the miscreants in Nigeria, including Boko Haram. If Jonathan pulls out now, it's a victory for the terrorists and a very bad precedence. We can't have that, can we? |

Where's the moral standing to criticize another man for not doing well in his day job? Gbawe: Haba !!!! Even as I can give 20 solid reasons as to why Jonathan can be regarded unequivocally as a failure I am surprised you dont see the bolded sections below as "reasonable enough" submissions from Bakare as to why Jonathan is a very poor who should not be allowed to continue next year by the electorate. Some of us may be unaffected so far by all the condemnable violence but that should not make us blind to the notion that there should be nothing more important to a leader than the safety of those he leads. Some faimilies , already under enormous pressure, will have lost breadwinners. We should think about that and consider wether we want to see many more broken families , and therefore likely future social headaches, because we are failing to see how badly mediocre Jonathan is as a leader of a nation that is very difficult to lead to begin with. And what really is the alternative? Atiku? Ribadu? Oya, please tell me what you would have done to handle this bombing spree if you were president of Nigeria. |

Politics › Re: A Racial Comment From A White Guy About Mandela, Nigeria, Africa Etc! by texazzpete(m): 12:34pm On Jan 01, 2011 |
ROSSIKE: What would you have preferred - the whites still owning all the land in perpetuity with blacks eternal peasants on their ancestral lands?
Fact is Zimbabwe IS much improved from three or four years ago, and will keep improving. That's all that counts. The initial struggle to restructure the land ownership, albeit to western outrage, WAS worth it, AND secures a brighter FUTURE for ALL Zimbabweans.
I know that, being a Nigerian, the idea of sacrifice for the future good of your society is probably an alien concept, but this doesn't apply to all other Africans. Mugabe actually fought physically in the bush for twenty years for his country's freedom. His body is filled with bullet marks and stab wounds. He and his party know why they had to put their country through that debacle in ways you could probably never understand. Four Agricultural Universities in Zimbabwe have churned out thousands of graduates, yet Mugabe, that Hijo de Puta, went and gave over the highly mechanized farms to his old war compadres with zero experience and interest in farming. Mugabe IS responsible for turning the former food basket of East Africa to a famine ridden land. He and his cohorts have the blood of tens of thousands of Zimbabweans on their hands. Of course that matters little to people like you. As long as he worked against white people, what do you care about deaths and starvation? This is the issue i have with all these 'pan-africanists' and 'black supremacist' people on NL. They don't really care about the plight of the average black man, all they care about is sound-bites against the west and 'white men'. That's why we'll never see you folks talking about the despoils in Congo, the killings in Darfur etc. |

toni tone: See racial comments from a white guy about the Mandela's, Nigeria and Africa in general,

Just look to the North of South Africa and look how the once prosperous Rhodesia, the breadbasket of Africa, is now starving and completely coming apart as a gangland and rotten dictatorship grown from nepotism/despotism. South Africa is a facade, its gonna collapse, because no matter how much money we throw at this raqcial divide mess, and no matter how hard the media tries to paint a pretty picture of balckness, the black run government is heading for a cliff and determined to drive everyone off the cliff like lemmings, I think we should go back to the way things were 50 years ago, and throw Mandela and his criminal wife back in jail and this time throw away the key for good. No more aid. Survival of the fittest, like Nigeria and Liberia, and every single country in sub sahara Africa, a rotten mess that was once kept civilized by colonialism. Lets go back to that, it worked and worked well. - HOWARD HOFELICH

How is that newsworthy? We have racists here by the bucketful on Nairaland. Ethnic bigots number in the tens here, if not hundreds. |

Business › Re: Mobil Agrees To Pay Commandclem $236.9 Billion (documents Attached) by texazzpete(m): 8:31am On Dec 31, 2010 |
Nsiman: yes it is ccnl but no patentee is 24/7 rellying on it, but let me say here that mpnu shld not take advantage of prof. Uwemedimo's age to postpone payment, and it is the responsibility of patentees to protest and probably seal-off mpnu's offices, with this, the international media/organisations' attention will be brought to this injustice You want international media to get involved? Why not send an email to Reuters, BBC and CNN telling them that Mobil is due to pay a penalty more than 5 times what the oil spill disaster cost BP. And just for using paint. Also tell them that the paint was invented by King Professor Uwemedimo, the Commander of the Wealth of the oceans. Also tell them that since Commandclem claims that this paint is the only that that makes oil production possible from the oceans, the 'Professor' must be a time traveller. He must have gone back in time in a time machine and supplied the offshore rigs in use since 1930s with the special paint. I'm sure they'll happily recommend you a good mental home. You may also try sealing off MPNU's offices in Nigeria as you helpfully recommended to @reality02. |
Politics › Re: Adeboye Wants Thief Bode George Released? A Friend Of Thieves Is A Thief by texazzpete(m): 7:53am On Dec 31, 2010 |
OAM4J: I hate to be seen as defending Bode Gorge, cos I dont like him, but get your facts right: Bode George was not jailed for stealing N100B, but for contracts' splitting.
OP Your topic is misleading, no part of the story says Adeboye wants Bode George released. And this is not the 1st time Adeboye will be visiting the prison, he has been doing that for many years now. I never said he was jailed for stealing 100 Billion naira. I know what he was jailed for. The reference to 100 billion naira is to show that the man is crooked, through and through. Whatever your views of the OP's headline, the meat of the story has Adeboye trying to insert himself in the Nigerian penal process, to use his massive influence to let off condemned criminals who have been sent to jail as a penance for their crimes. That is wrong. |

otumfour: @OP, if u decide on getting an Iphone, I suggest u wait for the next Iphone (since its just around the corner) this present Iphone sux, at least to me. I might add that numerous reviews of the iPhone 4 called it the 'best smartphone in the market now' as at June 2010. Engadget, CNET, Gizmodo etc When we weigh that against otumfour who says the iPhone 4 sucks, we know which side to believe |
