Politics › Re: Eight Days After: Filling Adedibu’s Vacuum by texazzpete(m): 1:25pm On Jun 18, 2008
it works this way

Collect N1 million daily from touts and thugs ar motor parks in Ibadan. use N100000 to feed the touts lunch, ensuring total loyalty

Stage 2: As more thugs flock to your house to eat amala, the more loyal 'workers' you have. More parks are overrun and more levy is collected. take increases to N2 million daily. Feeding allowance goes up to N250000 (lunch and dinner)

Stage 3: Thugs give political power in the state. Politial godsons, mindful of the pitfalls in messing with Adedibu divert state money to his coffers. Take increases to N8 million daily. Add breakfast to the menu to confirm laoyalty of thugs. Feeding cash goes up to N500000. profit = N7500000. Great Success!!

Naturally, some stupid, bleeding heart journalist will one day forget all your crimes and eulogize you for your generosity for feeding the poor Area boys. grin

@texazzpete 3 words you are daft!
At least I know what an OS is. You don't. I'm smart (and honourable) enough to take correction when i'm wrong. You aren't.

Infoseye:
@femzy thanks alot I feel u I don't know for texazzepte as if am begging him to do so for his psp abi I abeg u before? Any I came up with this thread just to add or better still put more value in your Psp thats all.

Anyway am back now with a new version of vista and guess what? Its complete Windows Vista v0.1 beta I would post the procedures and the download link real soon here so Psp lovers watch for this sweet Os.

Cheers!
Lol. I've had my PSP since 2005, and i've been in on the homebrew scene since firmware 1.5. You're small fry where i stand.
but i digress. I've thrown down the Gauntlet; does your 'Vista' run in Aero mode? Can you install Office 2007 on it?

femzy:
@texazzepte, Nobody is forcing you to install anything on your PSP,Infoseye is just sharing what he feels could make PSP duds have a different view of their PSP.
There ain't anything bad in that.
He's sharing a glorified theme and touting it as an OS. That's dishonest and untrue.

Based on the latest pic he uploaded, it's only a matter of time before he starts selling it for N1000 to dimwits - just like he did for 'free browsing'. I agree N1000 is a petty sum ( he really is small fry, after all), but it's crappy to sell stuff under false pretences.

That's just my $0.02.

@Soji
I agree you had a bad personal experience, but i can't help feeling you're trying to encourage your fellow man to live in fear.

Insure your vehicle as soon as you buy it and co-operate with any armed robber. Statistics don't lie. if up to 5% of toyota were being sold, even Insurance coys will not insure 'em.

There's a very small risk of you being fried by lightning when you step outside. it's extremely remote, but it CAn happen. No need to live in fear.

Don't be daft. The question begged for a comparison between The World cup and the Euros. Not Euro 2008 and World cup 2006.

Seems like yesterday when most people were whining when Greece won the Euros.

davidif:
mr. texazzpete
Obviously, you know nothing about football so keep your opinions to yourself? Anybody who has in-depth knowledge of world football and by that i don't mean fans who can't tell the difference between a 3-3-3-1 formation from a 4-3-2-1 formation, i mean those who know how to strategize and game plan for a match would tell you that the quality of football is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay much better and its not even close. If its not true, then why is it that 14 Europeans qualify for the World cup while the rest of the world can barely make it? Why is it that an African team can't get to the semis?
Ask any professional player which trophy he'd rather win, the World Cup or the Euros. That's your answer. At least if you feel I know 'nothing about football', go ask pro players like Zidane et al. idiot.

By all means, talk your army of sycophants through installing 'iphone' on their PSP.

Still waiting to see anyone running Quake 3 on their Win XP.

Yes am back as promised sorry for the delay, since we have people complaining or doubting winxp can be installed on Psp well we ve proofed them wrong
How does running a 940kb collection of HTML docs equate to running a version of a desktop OS?

So kindly suggest alternative occupations for the thousands of youths selling Recharge cards on the road. or the call center operators by the roadside. Or the People selling Gala and drinks.

I agree we need to make lagos more sane, but an outright sudden ban is asking for disaster.
Politics › Re: Adedibu Is Not To Be Blamed For Anything by texazzpete(m): 1:14pm On Jun 17, 2008
yeah right. take the easy way out and blame 'society' for everything.

In that case, we might as well open the Jails and release every prisoner, every condemned criminal. Afterall, the murderers, the thieves, the rapists et al were only driven to such dire acts by the society we live in.

Adedibu was a monster who brought harm and disorder to many lives. It's good he's off the scene. Even if you hinge your argument in the fact that sooner or later another monster may emerge, the lull in between both eras of evil will allow some good to flourish.

So much geekspeak and too little common sense applied

otigba boys do not know how to crack software. they don't need to. As Oyb said, all they have to do is burn copies of downloaded warez.

Most programs you Nigerians will write will fall far beneath the radar of the known warez groups, talkless of the otigba boys.

man y big corporations have invested millions to find a way to curb piracy. all have failed. Encryption on console games and systems have been cracked with ease. Windows Vista and mac leopard have been ripped to shreds.

You guys have far too much time on your hands.

Lest i forget, how many of our professionals that can 'compete anywhere' were trained by the Nigerian system?

Instead of cavorting in glee because of Adenuga's achievements, why not ask yourself why, if your country is so wonderful, the president flies to Germany for a routine health check?
Politics › Re: Glo Is Making great Things Happen In Africa by texazzpete(m): 2:02pm On Jun 16, 2008
Depilot:
Other countries would do well to open up their doors and windows of opportunities to Nigeria. Nigerians can no longer be treated with disdain in African affairs. We are amongst the most educated Africans on Earth. We are adventurous and very stylish. Our professionals can compete anywhere and can never be intimidated by anyone. Nigeria is the America and China of Africa rolled into one. Never mind the facts that our narcoleptic leaders have failed to tap into our awesome potentials. Nigerians are working on how to rescue the nation from the terrible grip of selfish and extremely corrupt politicians. We’ll do well to learn a few lessons from our neighbours in Benin Republic, who threw out their traditional politicians and voted in an accomplished banker. Our future lies in the hands of the private sector.
I agree. but at the same time we are the biggest exporter of online scammers in Africa. we're known worldwide as a dishonest people. We openly praise corruption and mediocrity.

There are two sides to the coin. while we should celebrate progress, let's not get lost. There's still 98% of the work to be done.

Finally, it's clear to even the most starry eyed optimist that this generation of Nigerian youth is even more corrupt and dishonest than the elders.

It's easy to sit behind a PC and applaud this move - until you realise you're entrusting the implementation of a draconian law on the Nigerian police - a body that has been known to arrest people for wandering, and keep them locked up for months on end.

Many of you are sitting down in a country where the burden of proof of guilt is on the police and are celebrating the passing of a draconian decree in a country where the burden of proof is on the accused. There are cameras in the US and the UK. there are NONE in nigeria. It's your word against that of a police 'officer'. Guess who's got the short end of the stick?

Be honest with what you're doing. You're selling pirated isos for money. That's ok.
But don't EVER call ripped commercial games 'homebrew' again. Not only does it make you look silly, you're doing a disservice to the people who work to make true homebrew apps available for the PSP.

@logica, naijafan

Not being pessimistic. . .just being kinda realistic.

With the phone highly subsidized to $199, it's AT & T taking a hit.
I'd expect all iPhones are pretty well accounted for in the shop. If an iPhone is sold, there's gotta be a contract.

If installer and appstore can coexist, i'll be happy as a clam.

Unconfirmed rumors say the 3G iphone is locked down like no phone ever before. Let's wait and see.

You underestimate the capacity of the Nigerian police force. If you park your car by the side of the road to buy Suya, it's your word against the Policeman than you didn't abandon the car for an 'unreasonably long' time.

The fines are unreasonably high.

Gents,

last night i was watching on TV5 News where they were broadcasting News about Crude Oil Price raising time from time. the President of Total french Oil Comapany was in Pointe Noire visiting the new Crude oil extension installed for deep water exploitation. in his interview he said that it will be very scandal in international market if the barrel of Oil reaches USD200 this will Happen because time from time the demand is increasing . but something surprised me, when he said that to stop this problem the oil-producing countries need to accept to multiply the oil exploitation even what is reserved need to be exploited to equilibrate the policy of the market (demand and Offer)

guys, this is very funny. in future those white men will start drilling even in our bedrooms, kitchens, dinning rooms wherever with interest to get this Philosofic stone. this not serious guys, do not be surprised one day if we start getting eathquake in our countries because nothing never replaced where they withdraw the Oil, the earth as a planet is composed of all of that material to survive do you think how will be the earth for the next genaration with this oil catastrophic Exploitation they never mind about people but they mind about their money
Here's some friendly advice; Don't speak of something you know little of.

one thing though, i doubt if out naija sellers will sell for that price they will hike it up as much as they can
I assume by naija sellers you mean the GSM carriers. I'm pretty sure they'll sell the phone unsubsidized (i.e more than $199). We don't have that kinda contract model in use in Naija.

I'll probably stick with my iphone 16gb, and then get either the Xperia or The Touch Pro for a second phone. Depends on how 3G in Naija pans out sha.

Nothing beats the iPhone browser

It's all very well for you to say. After all, you've never had a 'one Way' sign magically appear just after you've nosed into a road.

What this stuff says is that if you are a passenger in a bus or taxi that goes 'one-way', you're liable to pay N50000

I can just imagine the scams that'll be pulled by taxi drivers in collusion with the police. Take a passenger down a one-way road, let police grab you and then watch 'em shake down the victim.

c'est la vie.

pete,

why would it be a long time before we see a 3G? i got my first iphone last year 3 weeks after it was launched (that's sometime in july), that's even before anybody was sure it was hackable because i knew every and any system can be compromised. i held on to it for another 3 months before the s/w unlock was released, during the period i simply used it as an iPod (it was jailbroken).

with the 3G it gets even easier. the last time u said something about hackers not being sure they can unlock/jailbreak the 3G, but how is the 3G architecture different from the 2.5G given that the 1.2.0 firmware could be installed on the 2.5G? where i am going with this is simple: pwnage already provides a means of jailbreaking and unlocking every and any iphone including future releases as long as the architecture remains the same.
New baseband + new bootloader + all hardware fixes = No way Jose

Apple was content to look the other way since the iPhone wasn't on sale in many other countries, but with this new carrier model on the horizon and it's impending launch in 70 countries around the world, there's no need to offer tacit support for hackers any more.

Word has it that Apple has had infineon working like monkeys to improve security for this new chip. At $ 199 the phone is heavily subsidized. Would make no sense for carriers to incur that subsidy without any benefits.

Add to that the fact that you can now only buy iPhones offline, and you must activate before you leave the shop and you have a difficult situation to say the least.
