I'm tired of dispelling this urban myth. There is no record anywhere in the world where a cell phone has caused ignition of fuel vapour at a filling station. It has NEVER occurred,a nd scientists concur that the risk is practically non-existent. Read ALL these links. it's about time these lies were dispelled http://truthandmyth..com/2006/03/facts-about-cell-phones-and-fires-at.html http://www.snopes.com/autos/hazards/gasvapor.asp if you really want to avoid any chance of gas station explosion, ward against static discharges people are at much greater risk in causing an electrical spark through what is known as the triboelectric effect. This occurs when two different insulators, like skin and the polyester in a car seat, rub against each other, allowing electrons to flow from the skin into the polyester. A static electrical charge is thus created by the insulators and not from using a cell phone, Osterloh explained. Upon touching a conductive surface, such as a metal, the charge is released in the form of a spark, which could potentially ignite gasoline vapours. |
Dr Kitaun:You misunderstand my point. I'm not comparing them to the green eagles. I'm comparing them to a generic template of how a 'serious' team should be. I'm also trying to point out that the scoreline and the possession stats were more a reflection of how pathetic the south african side was. justkunmi:For once! Someone who actually watched the match with Nigeria's best interests at heart. i clearly remember that dribbling session by mikel. Why did Amodu give an already big-headed mikel the no. 10 shirt?! |
@arsenal4eva lemme try and find a link to the firmware, preferrably one that is resume supported. Sheraton Bar Wifi should be fast enough. use a download accelerator like flashget to grab stuff. You should be able to download the update in an hour or less. http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-4313.20080226.Sw39i/iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw |
@Mistiky When next i come to Lagos, i will crush you ![]() |
@luciano Sony has not 'aways' been a pace setter. if we had affordable brioadband speeds in Nigeria, you'd be surprised the amount of fun you could get over Xbox Live. I'm not an Xbox 'freak'. As i said before, i own all the next-gen game consoles (Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PS3). That won't stop me from telling the truth as i see it. you can snag a 360 for maybe 40k - 35k in Naija, yet people are rushing for the PS3 which doesn't really provide any difference. Just for the record, GoW: Chains of Olympus is on the PSP only. God of War isn't really a major system seller on it's own. Luciano80, i'm interested in any pal of mine from school days. Mail me? |
Dr Kitaun:Touted by who? Those biased analysts at SuperSports? So the Summary of you post is: let's celebrate mediocrity. What over-bloated players? Mikel? Yobo? Ayila? All i saw were extremely unserious players. If you wish, revel in this victory. When we line up against a more experienced foe, you'll see. |
Now i truly know the problem with Nigerian football. it isn't Amodu or the players, or even the pitch. it's Nigerians. I can't speak for the level of exposure to modern football you guys have, but i watched that match. if you guys are truly impressed, it only goes to show how much we celebrate mediocrity in this country. We won the match, yes, but we won against a truly abysmal team. South Africa were simply awful, and i strongly feel that Ranchers bees would have put up a far better performance than that team. You saw 'briliant talent'? I saw a gaggle of undisciplined, unserious players toying with the ball. Football matches like these are meant to hone and sharpen the team, belnd them into a more powerful attacking force. Instead we are hailing our team that shuffled and jogged aimlessly around the pitch, just because we shuffled better? Fantastic match, eh? So why were there no highlights worth speaking about in the second half? Be honest and stop following the herd on this one: based on our performance yesterday do you think we can stand against even a mid-tier European side like Sweden? |
@zillaxy Righteous indignation is no substitute for common sense. i also live in Nigeria, and i can tell you what every Nigerian over three years old (apart from you) knows; The police are often crooked, true, but their presence there prevents total anarchy from happening. |
@Cabali If you actually had read my initial post with an open mind, you'd have seen that the target audience was the mobs baying for BA's blood, and to show up our hypocrisy in calling for a boycott simply because the target was caucasian (Western). Hear that WHOOSH! Sound? that's the sound of sarcasm flying above your simple head. |
@dragnet As far as i know, that has been a public, chargeable setting for donkey years. I got it from a Celtel shop mid last year. There's nothing free or special about that one. @Cabali I was in Lagos last weekend. It worked. On democracy day, it worked in PH. I remember saying it worked in my earlier post. Do you have any reason to doubt me? |
Are you seriously telling me there's no place in \lagos, no cyber cafe fast enough for you to download a 162MB file? Even with a download manager? Find one. |
bibiking1:Continuous, eh? I can hardly call 3 -4 posts on a 29 page topic 'Continuous'. |
Windows for PSP?! Probably Fake. |
@lungwun . . .well, there's final fantasy ![]() Though it's extremely likely that Square Enix will bring it to the 360 too |
info:You guys in Lagos don't know how lucky you are. . . |
lol It worked 2 days ago, dunno what cabali has done ![]() And yes, it is chargeable. 10K per kb isn't too bad for me when i need to do GPRS stuff. |
Pennywise:Fraudulent? I made no attempt to tie anything to the number of Gun related deaths. All i've spoken about is the life expectancy (average). In simple terms, you're more likely to live to a ripe old age in the US than in Nigeria. http://geography.about.com/library/weekly/aa042000b.htm (2000) Nigeria 51.6 US: 77.1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy (2007) Nigeria: 47.44 US: 78.2 More Sources http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/12/AR2007081200113.html http://www.os-connect.com/pop/p1.htm |
What's funny is the number of South Africans coming here to apologize for the actions of a 'small segment' of the populace, and claiming that the xenophobic sentiments do not represent what other South Africans think. With due respect to eminent South Africans like Nelson Mandela who have spoken in a similar light, that's a crock of steaming bullshit. it has long been commonplace in South africa to look down on foreigners. We all know how those guys despise Nigerians. Even in BBA 1&2, the South African housemates (from middle-class, educated homes) were quick to make anti-nigerian sentiments known. South African companies in Nigeria routinely scalp us with fees that are exponentially higher than what their people pay in their own country. I've gotten reports from Nigerian businessmen visiting home from SA that the people 'absolutely loathe Nigerians'. I think this Xenophobia is far more deeply rooted than they pretend. |
No matter which way the wheel is spun, the simple benchmark is there: Life expectancy in the US is far higher than in Nigeria. Go figure |
Celtel: a truly pathetic, incompetent company. Pity i'm on the network. |
@cabali You sure about that? I use APN: Internet.ng.celtel.com user & pass: internet And it works (at least when i'm in Lagos, worked on democracy day in one section of PH) PS: It seems you have some contact with Celtel. Please, i beg of you, kindly tell the people there that they are a bunch of incompetent ninnies. Bad enough we get no 3G 2 years after the trials, but GPRS in PH is fubar. Network quality is abysmal and if i receive any more SMS telling me to sign up for a game show or chat or some other crap, i'm gonna go postal. Thanks ![]() |
lol Graduated with a 2.1, sonny boy. ![]() Now i'm productively engaged working for a living. . . and it's 'certainly' not 'cerntainly'. |
superman:experiates? analist? Your bombshells aren't making a case for Nigerian graduates. |
I even took the step of reading the article you linked to It was also claimed that Abiola died after taking tea served him by the then United States Under-Secretary for Africa, Susan Rice. This piece of evidence was given by Major Abdulsaheed Mohammed Aliyu, the then Chief Security Officer to Gen. Abubakar. The Tea Theory was only put forward by the Nigerian Government to throw some of the blame on the US. Abiola's personal physician has himself confirmed that his health was extremely degraded as a result of his detention (ergo his excessively enlarged heart). it's worth noting that even Mustapha's story does not point ANY finger at the US. it alleges that he was beaten until his health failed him. Where then are these accusing fingers coming from? We need intelligent people in Nigeria if we're to move forward. Abiola is dead, but Logic isn't. |
No. Lesson: take anything from a Vindictive ex-jailbird with a pinch of salt until it's been corroborated by a neutral and trustworthy source. That is, if you aren't blinded by anti-western bias ![]() |
lol Get a Nintendo DS. It's way better than a PSP in terms of games available for it. |
Logica Sorry it seems i was in a haste to post that i didnt realise you already had the Nigerian template. i've read the changelog for the latest Appsupport framework and i didnt see Nigeria as an added country, so i'm sure it's your template that did the magic. Hope you deleted all the unneeded countries. they tend to slow down the sms app. I'm not sure i share your optimism about pwnage and iPhone unlock. How come the Dev team has been silent on whether they'll be able to unlock 2.0? if 2.0 comes out and we have to update, i'll be crushed. think of all the apps i'm gonn ahave to re-install. |
@logica Sorry about that. Didn't go the updated Appsupport way, finally was able to get the Nigerian template to add. The standard Appsupport kinda slows the SMS pane down, so i streamlined it with only the Naija template The working template is like this // Nigeria [ng] ng 234 009 0 + + + + ### ####### + + + + ### ###### + + + + ## ####### + + + + ## ###### + + + + ## ##### The easiest way is to just upload this phone number template to the 'Support' folder under Appsupport |
@poster It's a pity you didn't take time to read. If not, you'd have seen that there were two (2) posts already on the same matter in this section. |
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6191251/p-8.html Gamespot just did a feature comparison, comparing Graphics on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Verdict: practically no difference in Graphics between them. in fact, they found that the Xbox 360 had the slight edge graphically over the PS3. Here's their conclusion Conclusion After going through another eight games, we've found a few trends that follow both of these consoles around. Outside of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, our findings didn't show any drastic differences in image quality between the two consoles--nothing compared to what we found when we compared first-generation games in our original comparison feature. The PlayStation 3 generally lags behind the Xbox 360 in high-quality textures and the depth/normal maps that go with them. However, in the same games, the PlayStation 3 sometimes comes ahead with better shadowing and antialiasing. Games on the PS3 do tend to be blurrier than their Xbox 360 counterparts, but the PlayStation 3 games can look just as good as the Xbox 360 games when developers put some effort into it, as is evident with both Grand Theft Auto IV and Burnout Paradise. Overall, the PlayStation 3 outputs visuals that are either on par with the Xbox 360 or only slightly behind. |
Just realised i hadn't given you the path to the summerboard folder but it isn't such a big deal. Both iPhone broswer and PC Suite have 'Favorites', links to common folders. You'll find one for Summerboard Themes there. You'll also get 'em for customize. |
