Accidents, huh? I detest Lagos holdup, even in a taxi, so i decided to take a bike from Marina to Sheraton. We were breezing along merrily until on other bike just flashed in front of us and hit the concrete divider. no, hit is the wrong word. Actually he slid into it, so there was this loooong trail of sparks and then some stuff flying all over the place. mercifully it was dark, so i didn't see the carnage. The guy definitely must have bought the farm. Another time i was on my way to Lagos, we were parked by the side of the road waiting for the driver to get back from urinating. I started watching a jeep racing towards us at full speed. one minute i was admiring the clean lines of the jeep, the next minute i was looking at the underside of a jeep. it landed on its roof. Need i say more? |
Don't believe in the iPhone's graphical power? Check out this screen from Cardrenaline, and upcoming iPhone 3D game https://toucharcade.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/iphone_cardrenaline.jpg |
The iPhone is a well-specced gaming machine in its own right, with a powerful CPU and GPU. The only drawback is the lack of physical buttons, making control of some games difficult. Some enterprising guys have come up with the iControlpad, a Gamepad add on you slide your phone into for maximum control https://www.icontrolpad.com/pad1.png https://www.icontrolpad.com/pad2.png this will enable you play your new games and emulators (SNES, MegaDrive, Playstation, MAME, NES, TurboGraf) on your phone with ease. best part: the entire thing will cost under $30. |
snoop4real:Is there a symbian section? or WinMo section? |
@Kobojunkie mallammusa is merely a peddler of lies. The ratio is FAR more heavily skewed to Nigerian workers. Most oil companies in Nigeria have been undergoing Nigerianisation for many years now, and they boast of over 70% Nigerian population. What many ignorant Nigerians do not realise is that all these oil companies are global companies, and just as Nigerians move overseas to other branches of that same company on external posting, many expats move inwards to Nigeria. When a job position becomes available, it's often a global vacancy, and staff all over the world can apply to come in. naturally, nigerians are preferentially considered for these jobs. There were great flaws in the mode of operation of Oil coys in Nigeria in the past, but since the mid '90s, all have fallen over themselves in a bid to become responsible corporate citizens in Nigeria. The hurdle all these companies face is an insurmountable one; how do you argue with the belief by ND youths that it's the role of the Oil companies to totally develop their communities (roles traditionally reserved for the federal and State Government)? Or the fact that 80% of Nigerians are unaware that at least 85% of oil revenue accrues to the federal government? Yar'Adua has set a dangerous precedence. |
lol Jakumo cracks me up all the time. . . |
snoop4real:Yes. It was 1000% worth the buy, simply because there's so much more you can do and experience on the iPhone than with many other competing devices. When you're travelling and watching a movie on a 3.5 inch screen, you know what you're enjoying. Wait until monday june 9th after the WWDC. You'll eat crow. With butter. PS: Just for the record There are free apps available to send and receive MMS, forward SMS, Send and receive files via Wifi. the SMS contacts stuff is a non-issue. |
come'on. have you heard of the Xbox 360 arcade. It has 256MB memory, so you have to buy a hard drive to play games which require hard drive installation. it has no wireless ethernet capability, that is offered as an acceessory. it also has no headset, you have to buy that seperately. (higher SKUs have that) it ships with a standard definition cable. u need Hidef. buy the cable. (only the elite has that)
LOL The 360 arcade is an entry level model, meant only for casual gamers. How many people got that? Even the arcade has a HD cable. The cable that ships with all 360s is composite AV + Component. IS there a HDMI cable in ANY PS3 SKU?
Yes, PSN is still playing catch up on live. PSN is still evolving(even imitating live with ingame XMB and trophy system coming up). But then, that is why they won't move many consoles in the developing countries. E.g. Those who can afford internet access in nigeria will definitely prefer free2play on the Wii or PS3 to pay2play on the Xbox.
Those who can afford internet access in Nigeria can defintiely afford to pay the extra bucks for the premium opnline experience. it's a yearly fee, and it's relativelyt minimal. Zedman:Sony invented HDMI?!! I HATE talking to ignorant people. Please stop making silly statements you know nothing about. EDGE magazine was critical of MGS 4 graphics. Even Kojima admitted the Ps3 wasn't powerful enough to handle his vision. Seen videos of Gears of War 2? MGS 4 won't hold a candle to it. All the patience in the world will do you no good. The GPU in the xbox 360 is even marginally better than that in the PS3, so the PS3 will NEVER be able to have a graphical lead over the 360. Not now, not in 2010! |
Are you guys on crack?!! Calling the Xperia X1 a 'sham' phone? There's FAR more hype for the X1 than even the N96. And FWIW, Windows Mobile 6.1 is more than a match for Symbian OS. https://www.boygeniusreport.com/wp-content/uploads/image/XperiaX1.jpg https://www.letsgodigital.org/images/artikelen/13/xperia-x1.jpg HTC just announced the HTC touch pro. I challenge you guys to find a sexier phone out there https://www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/06/htc-touch-pro-official-02-sm.jpg |
I'm glad there's some resolution in this impasse, but Yar'Adua is setting a very dangerous precedent Now every community knows all they have to do is make oil exploration and production very challenging, maintain an impasse and hold oil companies to ransom. You'll probably see this kind of thing happening repeatedly. Another valid worry is obvious; this will definitely embolden MEND and other millitant groups in their quest to achieve their objectives through violence. For those clamouring for Shell, Mobil and CHevron to leave, let's not end up with the CHinese. The thousands of ND youths that lost their jobs when Wilbros pulled out should be a sobering thought. |
by the way mistiky, microsoft is the one ripping people of this time with all the accesories you require. accessories which come standard on the PS3 the Xbox360 is a rushed system. Microsoft decided to gain major market share by releasing it console earlier than the PS3, hence gamers would have no choice. and it shows. failure rates, a DVD drive, they couldnt even decide to make HD standard.
HD standard?! Acessories? Please. the 360 outputs games at 1080p. That's hi-def in case you didn't realise. Quick question: how many Blu Ray movies do you own? |
Luciano Identify yourself!! |
PS: Xbox Live isn't free, but it's a whole lot better than PSN. wise gamers pay for quality. That's why Xbox Live 0wns PSN hands down. |
the console with 33% failure rate and one hell of a noisy fan yet people still have overheating problems is Xbox360. and what's up with all the needed peripheral u have to buy that come included with the PS3. The Xbox360 had a one year head start which they are losing at the moment. remember Xbox live is not free.
I love it when people say things they know NOTHING about! What extra peripheral do you have to buy? i pity you for gaming on a PS3 in Standard Def. if you were gaming hi-def, you'd know the PS3 doesn't include a hi-definition cable like HDMI or even Component. The Xbox 360s come BY DEFAULT with component cables. Did i mention that ALL xbox 360s ship with free headsets for online chat on xbox Live? The Ignorance is strong in this one ![]() |
cabali:At least i know there's only one 'i' in 'question' and one 't' in 'writing'. |
Arrested, yes,. prosecuted? Not likely. bad case of deja vu here |
Ibime:lol I'll concede that some of us have failings in that regard. However, in my defence i try to apply logic in my arguments. hard to find someone without prejudice. . .or bias! |
madamkoko:Blacks must have worked for them. These guys must have picked up some knowledge. there are universities in Zimbabwe churning out Agriculture graduates. These two groups of people may have made a difference. Sadly Mugabe shared out the lands to his cronies, his veterans, his pals as gifts. None of the people who truly would have done good were given anything. But that's a trait common with African heads, isn't it? Nigeria has Career diplomats, yet most ambassadorial positions were given to political appointees i.e Ahmadu Alli (curses be upon him!) |
cabali:A (much) wiser man than yourself once said: "Never judge a book by it's cover" if you're apt to making your mind up about a topic just going by the title alone, i'm genuinely sorry for you. The heading NEVER clearly says what a topic is about. A question mark at the end of the title would have been poor grammar. The title was chosen to be sensationalist,a nd it served it's purpose. Of course the unwanted discussion with you is an unforseen side-effect, but c'est la vie. . . |
londoner:'untruths'?! it may have escaped your notice, but i placed the link to the Nigerian paper where i got the story from. ThisDay is a reputable Newspaper in Nigeria, in case you're unaware. Please take time out to consider before posting. |
Just as an aside, what do you think would happen to Nigeria's oil production if Niger Delta millitants drive away every non-indigene away from Shell, Mobil and Chevron and replaces them with eager millitants and youths? |
Zimbabwe was hailed as the foodbasket of East Africa. they didn't get that name from selling wine and cheese only. We're saying the same thing. If Mugabe knew his black farmers were not capable of running the farms, why not ease the whites out gently and gradually? The land distribution itself was not done with his country's best interests at heart, with farmland being shared amongst his veterans and cronies, instead of competent farmers It's silly to claim their farming equipment originated from the west without any proof. These white guys had lived in Zimbabwe 9formerly Rhodesia) for decades. it's far more likely that the equipment came from South Africa, a country that had been sympathetic with Mugabe's regime for donkey years. Mugabe could get any equipment he wanted from SA. the issue isn't the machinery. it's abruptly yanking successful, arable lands from the whites and handing them over to people who know NOTHING about farming. The whites should have been phased out, or at least care taken to hand over the land to skilled black farmers. Zimbabwe cannot feed itself. That's Mugabe's goddamned fault, and we should be responsible enough to admit it, even if the asswipe cannot do so. |
The 4gb iPhone has been discontinued by apple few months after its release. You'll find it hard to see one anyway. besides, it's not a good value for money. Space constraints and all that ![]() |
Sorry, Sisikill. Kobo's male. Blatant: ![]() |
easternguy:Then in that same vein, why do we bother to arrest petty murderers and cultists in Nigeria? Afterall, it can be argued that since the murderers of Bola Ige and Dele Giwa are free, why should we jail the guy that merely killed his fellow tenant over a petty squabble? Why should we jail armed robbery suspects? Why jail rapists when Politicians that rape and abuse young girls are going scot free? All evil deserves to be punished. Some great evils may escape retribution, yes, but it doesn't make lesser evils to be good. |
You guys have still failed to show how Western Sanctions turned a nation that was the food basket of eastern africa into a nation of famine. This despite the fact that Zimbabwe could get as much fetilizer et al from other Eastern African countries. or did Blair and Bush render Zimbabwe's soil infertile? |
cabali:You still don't get it, do you? Let me break it to you in Plain English 1. Furore created in Nigeria after the BA incident 2. texazzpete is unconvinced of the merit of the BA boycott call. Texazzpete feels that Nigerians are once again playing the race card and are making a mountain out of a molehill. texazzpete feels that the Anti-BA opinion is caused by anti-western sentiments. This belief is reinforced by the Oprah Winfrey hoax/fiasco and the Osuofia 'racism' episode. 3. Texazzpete sees xenophobia in SA, attacks in which Nigerians are also targets of violent attacks. Texazzpete is not surprised to see no calls for Boycott of SA goods, confirming the racial angle to the BA episode, as well as the hypocrisy deeply rooted in many Nigerians 4. texazzpete created 'parody' thread laced with sarcasm to subtly point out the hypocrisy. of course texazzpete knows that Nigerians would not give up their comforts (MTN, DSTV et al). they only beat the war drums for BA since most o 'em have never flown internationally before. 5. Although the thread was created for a reason, it was the first to report on this SA incident in Nairaland. Seun stickies it and it grows & grows. 6. cabali comes along and proves that Steve Jobs (Apple CEO) was right. People don't read anymore. Do you get it now? Seriously you dissapoint me. The fact that i mentioned Chaka Chaka CDs among the things to be boycotted and the post ended with a large smiley should have been a dead giveaway to anyone of moderate intelligence. I clearly overestimated your capacity. I will not make that mistake again. |
LOL I think you mean GPS navigation, not GPRS ![]() |
the wiki app takes 2.7 gb of space. That takes 30% of your 8gb space. if you can, buy the 16gb version or wait until June 9th when the new 3G iPhone will come out. if you do have to, and you're in lagos, i could help you out when i travel to lag on the 13th. |
Infoseye:This is how lies start. First you heard/read about a petrol explosion in an area orlocation u cannot remember. Now you're describing the incident as if you were there. horrible to see, eh? |
