Think about it, after graduating from a university (hopefully in Nigeria and federal one), how does he intend to sponsor himself to any reputable foreign university aside scholarships and assistantships? Now, what better way is there to being qualified and favoured for these financial assistance?

That he graduated with a lower class should even propel him to finish excellently. And no, it's not impossible not to finish top as a self sponsored student, many have done it and I know quite a number. That alone is a reason to finish top.

Well its good to be optimistic sir, i was only talking out of experience because i passed through that path too. Work/hustle clashing with tests and exams not to say of lectures. Lectures were luxuries to me then. Many people have done it before tho and i wish him the best

Since you intend going abroad for your MSc, the best option is a DE into a federal university preferably a four-year program. Going to Benin Republic isn't a better option considering your MSc plans.

When you get admitted through DE, do your very best and if possible graduate with a first class. It will afford you opportunities for scholarships and its likes.

BTW, you're not old. Ayodele Dada graduated at the age of 29 and is currently a Knight-Hennessy scholar at Stanford University. Yet another reason why you should aim to finish with a first class.

Your advice is very kind and good. We should also try to be realistic when advising/motivating people. Its almost impossible for a self-sponsored student to graduate with a first class. He even admitted he graduated with lower credit from the institution he went to because he was hustling then.

I absconded from the service and faced my business which I saved profits in 7 digits in same year, God made me comfortable.

I am close to my late 20s, he already banned all family members as many depend on him from attending my introduction.

He cancelled my introduction without fixing a new date.

It is unfortunate some igbo people have this retrogressive mentality. Even the university in the east, I am schooling in, a good number of males are against having a female SUG President, busy citing that a man is the head of a home.

Igbo's are very known for their freedom and space for women. You are supposed to be an undergraduate and educated, ask questions and observe before disgracing yourself in public. About female SUG president, its very funny to hear this because many SUG presidents in the east are females during my time. ABSU, Oko Poly, ANSU, MOUA.....

Mine is two different experience that happen within this month of April
My itel 1508 was stolen on the 24th of march just last month while I was sleeping outside my hostel due to the heat.it left me frustrated,depressed, devastated and frustrated.
Then I have no other option but to withdraw 23k to buy a brand new techno F2.Another big issue started which was the Android OS consuming my data like a hungry lion. I did subscription of 1.5 Gig but with 6 hours the whole data was gone, I check my data usage and discovered that Android OS consume 95% of it. I did all the setting I could do still no solution in fact I gave more than 8 computer guys who were extremely brilliant still no solution, before I knew it tears start rolling from my eyes, my life was now in a state of pitable dilemma.
Then last week I just log onto my quora account and share my problem and a software guy from Singapore told me to download an app called DATAEYE from playstore and use it to control my usage. I did exactly what he said and to my utmost surprise the problem is solve, my data now runs at a normal rate. It was then I knew the distance between quora and nairaland.

dataeye has been in use here for like 2 yrs now

My goal was to make DCC , the No.1 Ankara Craft Accessory/Bag Designer in Akure/Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

To God be the glory and with the help and impeccable guidance of my very resourceful manager @paulspeaks of the Drive academy, I enrolled for the Tony Elumelu grant of $5,000 for budding entrepreneurs across Africa and won.

It’s a dream come true and I hope my little story will inspire others who are passing through any difficulties to never give up irrespective of the setbacks and challenges life throws at us.

Mine is complex. Left home at age 15 immediately after secondary to join my uncle in Lag. He lived in a face me and slap you with his friends (about 5-6) lol. I manged there for 2 years while I’m preparing for jamb. Got admission and the rest is history. I stayed in school hostel cause I couldn’t afford off camp accommodation..

During strikes I’d be force to leave hostel and sometimes squat in a friend’s place off camp. I rarely go to Lagos cause Uncle got married and was staying with his Iyawo in his newly built home. Although not to taste but I really don’t like his iyawo and her delay in cooking. I like food but she starves me a lot.. perhaps ignorantly.

In 300L I started doing one or two hustles and money began to pump in heavy.. I was technically 19-20 years when I’ve been on my own.. would be 24 this April and thank God for everything.

Sometimes, certain conditions would boost your morale and hunger to be independent at least, if not rich but OK.

I’m the boss of myself now. I only called to check on his kids; send stuffs etc. last year December, I was in lag but I lodge in an hotel for a week..
