Shuo! shocked You bad o. cheesy

I wonder why people spend so much on a one-day event. God helping me I won't do pass myself - won't even relate with a lady that will make me to - if God says the brother will marry. I'd rather spend more on wedding anniversaries.

I don't even like involving too many people in what I do.

As bad as this country appears to be, I almost found this hard to believe. Things happen and can be saddening.

Keep moving on, soldier! This phase shall pass.

I see you write well. Why don't you give online content writing a try? It might not make you rich, but you may be able to get something better than you currently earn. A secret: that's contributed greatly to my not worrying so much about lack of a job all these years.

As someone suggested above, you may also try working as a teacher. You will at least have more time to do other things or earn extra doing tutorials.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe that someone would postpone their service year because of those things you listed up there. Just my opinion.

By the way, the list felt somewhat like luxury (though it's necessarily not) compared to what I took to orientation camp several years ago. My supplies weren't the best, but hey I survived, thanks to God.

If you're reading this, how about you borrow some money to be covered with your first allowance that would be paid at the camp?

I don't think marriage can solve lust.
But thanks for your input nonetheless.
It might not but would help. You will be spending your "alone" time more with your wife, I guess.

Since you feel a connection with your neighbour (you meet up several times for chats in camera), why not just consider marrying her?

Yes, you may said marriage isn't the next thing for you. I'd beg to differ because you couldn't afford to be all alone, preferring instead to invite her over (maybe go to her place) now and then.

Get married, man!

I handled the male side. Average of #80k. I warned the women to be careful and they kept to my warning.

I asked the youths how many of them can afford the list and they said that I'm a white man. They said that if I cut it too much that I will use my money to augment.

It's the immediate family that can solve your problem. I find it insulting that an in-law will be unhappy because of bride price. No decent and enlightened family will allow that. I'm a pure Lagos boy.
This is almost unbelievable! You're indeed enlightened, sire.

A man shouldn't see the bride price as a potential snag to getting married to someone in the ideal world, but it doesn't seem like we live in one around here.

The bold portion was somewhat funny, though. cheesy

I don't like doing more than myself, so I wish to have an idea of how much it could cost to get married to either of these ladies before going too far. Is that possible?

I'd rather not be too direct about this to avoid misunderstandings and coming across as disrespectful. Is there any way to find out this more cleverly before I invest too much time in a relationship?

Thanks in anticipation.

Don't mind all the noise about high bride price in Igbo land. It all depends on the family. How enlighten are they? Two of my sisters got married last year March. I forced the villagers to monetize the list. They started bargaining. I acted as the go-between. I cancelled a lot of the items that they said belong to my family. At the end they paid little or nothing. I did that because I don't want any young man to come and brag about how he bought my sister. One has put to bed. I bought things worth more than what he spent to see the baby. It depends on how enlightened the family is.
Thanks, sir. We need more people like you!

But could you tell what the final list came to, in terms of money equivalent? smiley

PropertiesRe: Beware! – Buying These Lands May Increase Your Construction Cost Astronomically! by ThaThinka: 9:46pm On Mar 25, 2021
olumide4christ:
BEWARE!! – BUYING THESE LANDS MAY INCREASE YOUR CONSTRUCTION COST ASTRONOMICALLY! (PART 4)

SLOPING LAND

This is a kind of land that has a steep gradient (or slopes) from one end of it to the other and/or in different directions, usually encountered in hilly terrain.

The Issues – The pertinent issues that may arise when using sloping land for construction are:

 Limitation of design – Due to the sloping nature of the land, architects are usually limited to design buildings with different levels leading to stepped foundations, in a bid to reduce cost.

 High foundations – As a result of the sloping nature of the land, foundations would have to be made higher either by structural design or by implementation on site. This results in - increasing the height of the foundation blockwall or concrete raft ground beams; increased quantity of filling sand resulting from the increased height of foundation; introduction of concrete tie beams (in case of blockwall foundations) due to the increased height of blockwork.

In conclusion, if possible, it is advisable to avoid buying sloping land; it leads to increased cost of foundation works. I have a personal experience on this, when I bought a sloping land in an estate in Abuja some years ago. Due to the sloping nature of the land, we eventually ended up spending about N2.1 million for foundation works for the main building and boys quarters, as against about N1.6 – 1.7 million due to the factors mentioned above.
Wow! This post and the thread as a whole are quite educative.

I found this thread while trying to find out whether buying land in a slopey terrain is advisable. The quoted post is enlightening in this regard.

If I may ask, sir, is it likely for foundation on a slopey lot to cost more than 30% more compared to regular foundation on flat plain? Thanks.

PropertiesC Of O Needed For Building Plan Approval? by ThaThinka(op): 5:36pm On Mar 08, 2021
Hello, everyone. Please I need experts in the house to clarify something for me.

I was reading an article about building approval and how it is needed before commencing any development work in Lagos. A portion of the article mentioned something about the need to have a certificate of occupancy (C of O) before one can apply for such (you may view the attached screenshot).

That was a surprise to me seeing that many people build on land with no C of O in Lagos. Does it mean those structures have no approved building plans? I don't get it. Please help explain.

You'd often be sitting on a metal when occupying the rear or trying to deal with someone bumping their backside into you. At other times, it will be a lady feeling suspicious of you getting too close. undecided

Another product of failed parenting, possibly. How did she get the gun? Me sef wey don old enough (I guess) to be her father never held one or even come too close to someone holding one.

Look at the society we're building. angry I can trace this to misplaced priority in our society today.

Hahaha. You just want someone to validate your thoughts. I am in this exact dilemma. I feel like Ibeju Lekki is on a different planet. That place is freaking far. Plus cost of constructing probably due to extra sand filling cox of the nature of lands there and erm, the flood that might come during raining season. My heart and head say areas like Ikd and Mowe might just be better but when you speak with realtors, they all say Ibeju Lekki. I don tire ah swear. I was very close to getting one at Agbowa in Ikorodu but because of this indecisions. phooey!
You took this right out of my mouth! cheesy That Ibeju is both far and expensive. It's not just about being bushy - practically all low-budget areas are.

Yeah, I have also been leaning more towards the Ikorodu axis after visiting a location at that Ibeju. The thing is that I am being very cautious with some observed issues, including litigation and potential government acquisition.

Real estate is Nigeria is a scan. Nothing favourable in buying land in Ibeju Lekki. Realtors will decieve people with dangote refinery, however they only want to sell their overpriced lands. I would choose a developed site in Opic, Isheri GRA, some part of Simawa and even Ikorodu over that very distant bush called Ibeju Lekki.

Ps: I lived in Ibeju Lekki before. Sad thing we had to go to the first bank close to LBS to withdraw, and sometimes, I had to drive to Epe.
Thanks! This somewhat captured my thoughts; it validated my concerns in a way. It gave me more to think about.

Traveling to Ibadan is very fast from ibeju Nd faster .
For ibeju to CMS self is simple and easy because I do take direct bus whenever am going to mandelas .
Well about ur construction is just like normal dues people pay for building house in Lagos e.g omo onile , local goverment and maybe street development fee .
Regarding the bold, I wonder how, though. A look at Google Maps doesn't suggest so, but thanks for your input.

I once went to that side, although not the popular area (went to the Elerangbe/Arapagi axis). From NNPC Majek area at Sangotedo, it took about an hour to get to the location I went to. And that side was supposed to be shorter in distance, compared to the more popular section.

I also read an account by a lady of how it took her around three hours to get to La Campagne from Ajah. Some estate locations are even after that resort. The distance seems a bit scary. grin

PropertiesIs Remote Ibeju Lekki Really Better Than These Locations? by ThaThinka(op): 9:49am On Jan 16, 2021
Hello! A quick one: is a place far in Ibeju Lekki (such as Ode Omi) better for acquiring a piece of land at a higher price when more affordable offers are available in places like Mowe, Atan Ota, Ikorodu, and even Simawa.

I'm somewhat confused about this, especially when you consider that these other places are closer to central areas than Ibeju and the terrains may be less expensive to build on.

Is Ibeju Lekki really better than those other locations? I need someone to sway me one way or the other, please. It will help if you can give reason(s). Thanks.

1. What's the extra benefit in getting a personal C of O for a portion of a larger area that already has a global C of O, if any?

2. What's the most affordable way to prevent encroachment on a piece of land that one isn't ready to build on yet?

Thanks in anticipation.
