Let me remind yu that the post of Chief Justice of Nigeria, President Of Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court are NOT appointment by Mr. President. Its automatic for the most senior judge to move even if he will reach the retirement age of 70.
Again point of correction is that Justice Ibrahim Auta the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court is not from Plateau state but he is Burah by tribe from Biu in Biu LGA of Borno state. |

That is the logic of those saying the invitation by the senate of Lamorde is because he is investigating Saraki's wife. |

dmcdad: Truth be told... The improvement on electricity has been massive! Jeez! Since I was born I have never enjoyed power supply the way I have been enjoying it for the past 3 months. Or should I burst someone's bubble? In the past month, they have not interrupted power supply more than 5 times. Yes, you read that right. Not more than 5 times.
One question that keeps emanating from my head every now and then is; are we sure we are still situated in Nigeria? It is really startling to say the least. now we go one or even two weeks with uninterrupted power supply. I mean, no blinking. Can you beat that?
Abeg, I am not concerned about politics and its troubles. Neither am I concerned about who did it or who didn't do it. What I am concerned about is that, someone came, and since the person came around, I have been enjoying constant power supply like never before. I know there are other things that are yet to fall in place, but its only gonna get better with time.
I say things the way they are. Seeing they say, is believing. Lights stabilised even before elections. If you must know, Nigeria runs on hydroelectric i.e electricity power generated by water. The month of May is the beginning of raining season and always the months Nigerians experience steady electricity. The rains will stop and yu will see the decline. |

Assuming this error was not pointed out to the president by senators, this illegality would have stand.
I will suggest that if an appointment is subject to confirmation by the senate, such appointee should not assume office until after the confirmation.
The act of the appointee assuming office before confirmation is an act of arm twisting and derogating the powers of the National Assembly whether to approve or refuse the confirmation. |

Politics › Re: Governor Almakura's Witnesses Turn Against Him To Testify That Maku Won Election by TheAdvocate(m): 4:02pm On Aug 19, 2015 |
Chubhie: Maku I know of is well experienced in election matters. I remember vividly during 2011 elections how voting was alleged to be going on in Maku's well secured mansion. Witnesses raised alarm and some few hours latter a crack team was led to maku's house but nothing incriminating was found.
All those witnesses were rounded up into the waiting trucks of the crack team and charged with raising false alarm. It was a case of hunter turned bush meat. The look on those witnesses faces was epic! You could read the disbelief! They were so sure and never believed the reality they were seeing.
I laughed so hard then knowing that it takes only a call and few minutes to notify Maku of an impending raid so he can clean up.
Maku was rewarded as an information minister when his principal won. I'm not surprised one bit of Maku's capabilities. This is election petition matters and not about voting. The only way to explain this is that Maku got the services of a good lawyer who knew how to cross-exam. If yu are a witness and I am cross-examining yu and yu have copy of a result sheet in ur hands and the other party had won on it, yu cannot change that fact. Court cases are not kalo-kalo. Its about facts and evidence. |
Politics › Re: Benue South Tribunal: David Mark In Court, Refuses To Enter Witness Box by TheAdvocate(m): 9:40pm On Aug 18, 2015 |
I guess the op is not a lawyer and doesn't know that both the petitioner and respondent in an election petition need not testified to win their cases.
This is so because the relevant witnessess to an election petition are agents who witnessed and sign the various elections result namely Forms EC 8 (a), (b), (c) and (e) 1.
A candidate to an elections doesnt sign a single election result sheet. |
Career › Re: Did I Make A Mistake Studying Law? by TheAdvocate(m): 9:27pm On Aug 18, 2015 |
SaiBuharii: Law and Medicne are overrated in Nigeria, the stress is less than the benefit...unless u plan to relocate.
Wanted to study law, but was discouraged it's not worth it. I'm sure I will have easily finished with a minimum of a 2.1 in both uni and law skul...so it's not even the difficulty.
Put in for a 4 year course and I'm earning my cash. My mates dt put in for law are still eida in law skul or serving, when they come to the labour mkt, and they come to my industry, no advantage, they become my junior, even in the public service, they put them on grade 8
Start doing courses that will feed you well, not that will give u title. Don't impress your parents because they want to be "papa Lawyer, they will not feed your children. Since you are after the money, you must not practice. Banking industry, oil and gas, Agricultural industry, taxation industry await you with good offers.
By the way, you are still serving. You can't get paid for what is compulsory. No dey give yourself grief. Scammer!!! |
